  1. I have one claim left in H5, it has ocean access and a large stone base (single floor with roof) started.. I've been thinking about letting it go.. I had 5 claims there and unclaimed all but that one, the others are already gone but if your interested I can help you out.. I'm currently in F3 but would be willing to travel via bed there and unclaim that flag if it will help you out.. This offer is only for you or someone who has no other land claims of their own. I was able to find a claim that had been left will most everything already on it.. I have made that my home and so far am very happy, the only issue I have now is if the old owner decides he wants to start playing again.. Which I don't know him nor know how long it's been since he quit playing so chances of me giving up the place are slim to none unless a Dev gets involved and forces me to do so. If your intersted in the claim I mentioned, contact me in the game if possible.. I get online around 18:00 EST and play until around 22:00 EST Mon - Fri. I'm on most weekends as well.. The claim is owned by my company ( Cursed Exiles ) and I use the same pathfinder name in game as I do on the forums. If your interested try to hit me up in game as I don't check the forums much when I start playing.
  2. Thanks for the input, I didn't know that would count against it, next they will have to implement a patch that doesn't allow people to access or climb other players ladders.. Go figure, thought that would have been covered when they fixed it to where you couldn't stand on someone else's ship.
  3. According to Steam, I’ve logged 198 hours in Atlas and started playing Jan. 2nd, I’ve been on one successful treasure hunt and one failed, had multiple tames, all which are dead or have been carried off through the sky by a glitch, multiple ships, which most have been sunk by storms, crashes or ghost ships, I have two ( Schooner and Brigantine)left and my son leaves his sloop with me for when I need help, I’ve built multiple bases with taming pens and all honesty I’m 63 years old in game and I haven’t even scratched the surface what stuff to do. I love the exploring aspect and open world the game has to offer, I want to treasure hunt and chase the depths of the oceans to find sunken ships and see what loot comes up, I want to see how people have created the base they call home and hopefully make some new friends along the way. For someone to say there isn’t anything to do must not work or have a family as I do because it seems 3 to 4 hours after work in the evenings and what is possible on the weekends is no where near enough time for me
  4. I was located in H5, traveled around until I had to leave and stopped at the closest Island, I was just lucky to find the area, whoever’s land it was has been gone for awhile, all his stuff had taken damage from where it had been sitting for so long. I’m guessing they either got busted cheating, switched to a unofficial server, went to pvp or quit the game entirely. As you know people can log out on their base and the land stays contested for eternity, that wasn’t the case here. He even had a sloop parked in the area but wasn’t sleeping on it either, so I feel good about the find. I also appreciate the fact he left the area before quitting the game so his stuff wouldn’t be tied up.
  5. Find you someplace to build a small base, store enough stuff to build another ship, if yours goes down, starting over is a nightmare, that’s the main reason for myself having a base, I keep most mats, gold tradable items there and only enough stuff to make repairs and weapons on my ships, I did set up a trade box outside my home that stays unlocked for others to trade items with, since we can’t board one another’s ships anymore. The SOTD are a bit much, all spawning in around the same spot, speed sails and handling sails have saved me quite a few times but I’ve still been hit and taken some damage, keep your ship repaired daily is the best advice I can give you.
  6. How did you sink it with the ladders down ? Thought they fixed all that, I’ve been leaving my ladders down because I thought they had fixed sinking of someone’s ships
  7. Been making the place my own, met a few of the neighbors and some general traders who were passing by and in all honesty it feels good to be there.
  8. I got fed up with the vultures and heat issues I was having on H5 and decided to sail away hopeful to find a new piece of land, upon entering a area I found promising and the fact I had to sign off to take my daughter to the movies, I made landfall and took off with my flag held high for hopes of blue showing as I ran along, 10 steps away, then 20 and low and behold I struck the gold and planted my flag, claimed came a few mins later and I jumped back on my ship and signed off, once I returned from the movies I wanted to see what I had gained, figured it was just a small spot with overlapping lines but I was impressed to say the least but my line did cut through the middle of a existing structure, so I was down hearted once again but I figured that perhaps I would be able to obtain that other half as well, so off I went with my flag held high once more and believe it or not there is was, that shimmering blue light that makes us grin, slammed down in the ground and to my surprise it wasn’t contested. The timer counts down and I wait, knowing someone would pop out of a ship or building and ruin my day. As the time runs down the more excited I become, thinking to myself “Oh wow what a find, wondering what had happened that someone put so much work into it and just leave it”, well I was set, the timer ended and the message appeared CLAIMED !! I was grinning from ear to ear, away from the misery and frustration of H5 to something new and probably just as problematic but I am hopeful. I didn’t want to be greedy so I stowed everything away jumped in the bed and transported myself back to H5, unclaimed several of my flags, keeping only one for a “WTF do you mean I have to give it back scenario” loaded my goods up that I felt was worth keeping without placing to much weight on my brig and set sail, taking a different route than before and grinding my teeth just praying that I would make it there, I managed to pull it off with only a few hits from the ghost ships but luckily not enough to sink me. Got there, got moored, ran up to my new establishment and locked the doors, said the pirates prayer and signed off, was just so excited that something was finally going my way I just had to share. Now I’m not proud of taking what someone else has put so much effort into but in my defense I have no idea if they got banned for cheating, switched to a different server or just simply quit playing, the structures there seems to be decomposing and no one was sleeping so I felt it was fair game. I try to consider the work people have done in the game but as a player I have no idea what is really going on. hope the message inspires others to look around before giving up
  9. Once I finish this base, I plan to go explore and see what is out there, I want a place built good before taking any chances of losing my ship and having to start over from scratch. There seems to be a lot of good people in the game and that makes it worth the effort and frustration
  10. Thanks for the offer, I play on NA Hydra H5, been there since I bought the game, I’ve built ships, bases and I have had multiple tames but none have survived. I try to be resourceful and remove old bases when I build new ones, currently working on one next to the water where I can park my Brigantine and Schooner both, my son has a sloop he leave there but switched to a unofficial server some time ago but will log in and help me once in awhile. He has his own friends and they pay for the server but I enjoy the official server myself. I was ready to quit when I lost my three wolves at once but I keep telling myself that it’s still early access and they may do a complete wipe by the time it comes out of EA so I shouldn’t get to attached to anything at this point, I done crashed and lost one brig when they posted that message about we are updating but you won’t need to sign out but the server always loses conn anyway and it’s a major lag spike at times. No big deal built a new one but now I use more caution and park anytime something is going on. The tames aren’t hard to get with a pen but it’s time and deaths trying to get them to the pen. The Island I’m on used to be over run with wolves but they really helped with the patch awhile back and made it more the way it should be, snakes and crocs aren’t bad but there are some lions on the west side of the Island that hurt and a pain to lure all the way back to the east side where my pen is. I really try to play the game as a survivor and eat what I need and keep water with me or means of obtaining it, with the current state of the game I’ve went into fits because of the mechanics killing me over and over and me not wanting to lose my inventory. My biggest fear atm is growing old and having no way to complete the FOY quest line and the game having to start over from scratch and lose everything I have worked on. So far I don’t take many journeys out unless to gather resources we don’t have on the Island for fear of losing my claim or sinking my ship. I hope to see you out on the open waters some time
  11. I know first and foremost that the game is in early access, I understand that bugs, glitches and updates are common with early access releases but I however am really getting fed up trying to play as a solo player contending with Alphas which you cannot tame but can kill three of your tame wolfs with little effort at the same time, I’m getting frustrated that I can’t seem to gather much meat because as soon as the harvest hits the ground a swarm of vultures are all over it, if you hit one by mistake then they all come after you, I am half scared to try and put any more tames on my boat because my lion seemed to get swooped up in the sky bobbing around out of the area, I don’t seem to be able to do any treasure maps because I am over run by the undead, I don’t want to join a large company or depend on other players just to be able to see and enjoy the content the game has to offer. Perhaps my frustration is minor compared to some, the problem is that I really want to be part of what could be a great game, part of community that will be around for a very long time but it saddens me to see new updates coming out, new content being added but none of it seems to be fixing what is already causing so many people to leave the game, perhaps they will come back and perhaps they won’t, currently I don’t recommend the game to people who ask me about it because it is no where near what it needs to be for a casual player to enjoy. I have made a great effort to give the game a fair chance and time to work with the current player base before giving it a negative review but with the lastest update of v16 and so little has been touched of what the ones in the forums are asking for such as land claims, fix the alphas, or at least let us tame them, fix the tame flying off while you try putting it on a ship and all the other stuff I’ve read here in the pve section that I don’t see any other options. I mean I paid for the product and will continue to play it, at least until I either have had enough of the crap or something better comes out. For now as for my personal opinion it’s 2 1/2 stars out of 5, you have a great concept, good graphics and truly open world but you also have a list of bugs, creatures that need balanced and the lag issues causing game locking up I would greatly appreciate any ideas people have found for the issues I’ve mentioned aside from dropping my own company to join another
  12. I’ll try that next time, I figured out by closing the sails and raising the anchor that allowed you to pivot where I was.
  13. Well the crocs and wolves seem to have gotten a nice balance, now the cobra and vultures need it, I can deal with the cobra because I can get away far enough to fight it with a bow but the vultures have to much call for help, they don’t give a chance to harvest any meat from a kill until they are all over it and if you attack one with a bow you waste a dozen arrows before you die to the mob just my thoughts
  14. I’ve had nothing but bad luck, this is not of much importance now since the ship I was wanting to change the name on was sunk yesterday when either lag caused me to not hear cannon fire while passing by ghost ships or running aground when trying to drop anchor. It was a brigantine, then I was heading to a alliance ship yard and pitch of dark I didn’t see the small section of ramp that I hit and became stuck on, this ship is a schooner, I tried to use the sails to pull the opposite way to move the ship a few feet off but with the mechanics of this game all moves must be forward so with a lot of fruitless effort the ship remains stuck, I submitted a help ticket but I’ve noticed that the devs take hours at times days to respond and it’s normally with a I’ll pass the the message on, they had so many small server resets yesterday I should have just logged out and waited for everything to stabilize before taking the chance of losing everything I’ve built. All by the way this is a PVE server
  15. Yeah that’s what I’m referring to but nothing happens
  16. We have the option to change a ships name but I don't see where to change it ? Does anyone have any ideas ?
  17. I agree, the only way people keep anything is by visiting it at least I’d say once a day or log out in a secured location to keep from being killed, anyone who plays on a unofficial server has no room to complain about anything, the host of a unofficial server can adjust pretty much anything they may choose, it’s kinda like enabling god mode in a game, you want 100’s of resources from each node, you want enemies to die with one arrow, you want to fly instead of walk ? Well ? Those of us who play on the official servers complain about bugs, exploits or things that the developers may have missed, after all the testing period to make this game great is supposed to last two years and then they are going to raise the cost of the game to 60.00 US if I remember right. We are all dealing with a “work in progress” title that I for one am proud to be able to enjoy. They release updates and patches frequently and try to incorporate them as we play instead of shutting down every 1/2 hour to fix something like other games I’ve played has.
  18. I don’t mind the taxation, I’ve wiped my plot of land clean from harvesting materials, if another land owner is willing to allow me to harvest their mats at a small cost, well I’m all for it because if I had to wait for stuff to regenerate on my land alone I would never get anything done. I don’t know if it’s set up to where you can’t harvest mats from said land owners but that would be bad
  19. Not sure on the server on which you play but it really helps to have a friend who can harvest and tame with you, I also do everything solo but my son was helping me before he switch to a unofficial server. I know the pain but honestly I believe it makes the game fun and interesting, having the game to easy would make it boring and most people would start to lose interest, I spent days trying to acquire a single plot of land, once I managed that, now I’m spending days building a safe house in case my ship gets sunk I’m not restarting in a starter area
  20. The biggest issue with people who have logged off for said amount of time is that no one knows if they are on a family vacation or not, the internet went out in their area due to storms or some type of natural disaster. The question is how long does one have before the claimed land is given up to someone else willing to claim it ? I know my company offers a 2 week vacation which means I could possibly be offline for up to 14 days, I don't ever see that happening but it's always a thought about the little plot I have claimed and working on, I worry about losing it if I'm gone for to long. Also consider people who may be moving or whatever else may be happening in the real world, I'm not sure about you but I personally would like a little consideration brought into this, I know I don't want to lose what I have and I don't believe anyone else does either but at the same time we all would like to be able to have land, I know the devs have made much improvement to the system by giving people choices to allow building on their properties but I’m still uneasy about that based on not knowing if once something is built does the property owner have the right to change their mind and decide you can no longer live there, so many questions and so few answers.
  21. The lack of resources ? FFS you have means of travel don’t you, there is so many Islands out there is unreal, the issue and I do mean the issue that I personally deal with is I don’t have anything to call my own except the ship that stores everything else I’ve had to travel to gather, just like trapping or taming animals, to get certain ones I have to travel to find them, then and I do mean then I have to find a area that I can build a trap on since you can’t make a portable one, some areas may not have a option to build or the animals that I’m looking for but if everything goes to plan, I spend my time gaining one, then the only place I can keep it and my materials is on my boat, if everyone had to deal with the same stuff that those without land had to deal with you may have a different outlook once your ship got sank from a glitch or lagged out while being fired upon by ghost ships and losing everything, and I do mean everything you’ve worked for, you just might think different
  22. The problem I have is that for those of of who are either older and have families to support but would still like to enjoy the game, really just can't. You've mentioned joining a larger company, find some friends, make some allies but the problem I personally have is that : I may not like a existing company name, I may want to have a company name based on something that means something to me, I'm a 43 year old male welder who don't know many people who play video games to pass the time, I can't dedicate hours a day trying to find a piece of land to build a base, I don't mind traveling to get resources but do mind trying to build on someone else's land that may or may not decide to change their mind about it and everything I've done is a wasted effort. You have companies that have claimed several islands or a couple companies that have claimed islands together, They take up more land that they don't use and force others to keep searching for the tiniest area that they can build on. Most of us don't want a empire, all we want is something that we can put a bed down on and have a place to build our boats and be ready in case things go sour and we lose our lives and ships while at sea, yeah I know you can always go back to your home server and start over again, start the process of looking for a place to build again, start doing all the beginning things in the game over and over again.. What we all want is to be able to enjoy and see the rest of the game.. We don't play on PVP servers, we came here to explore and chase treasure maps, find the hidden gems and just sail around looking to see what others have done, the ideas they've came up with. So yeah, one claim per player would be great otherwise I'm not sure how long the game will survive, the game is a beautiful frustration. Some people will quit and others will just hope to find something but if nothing changes the game will fail. You've got people who have the land and have built their bases and that's great but the sad part is they don't make up the majority of people who play and purchased the game, they may give the good reviews because everything is going their way with land and such but to keep people talking good about the game it is going to have to change otherwise it will fail. This is just my two cents but a lot of people have gave the game a chance going against the reviews, some are finding out that the reviews were correct and are no longer playing the game and they are not recommending the game to anyone else. It is what it is I guess.. I can't speak for all but I think I'm close to how many people feel.
  23. lol, figures, I appreciate the offer and it shows that you do care about the community but I play on a different server... I'm normally at work all day and get home in the evening around 17:00 and try to get on then until about 22:00 EST when I head to bed. I won some land by contesting it and recreated the character with a different name but same company and I went back to the land and it had glitched to where it showed I still had ownership but I could not access it, I submitted a help ticket but as of yet nothing has come of it.. I tried to contest my own claim.. but it showed someone was sleeping there (crossed swords) but I logged out any way, when I signed back in the next day I was of course dead and low and behold someone else had ownership of the land then.. I was pissed beyond belief at this point.. I submitted the help ticket before ( well I submitted two help tickets) the new owner had it.. Not sure what transpired there, if it was a dev's friend and they gave the land to them or what but I know that most timers show close to 18000 seconds so there is no way I could have lost the land due to the natural way of taking ownership of land.. I'm trying to make my way back to the land and get some CCC coordinates to give to a help tech, I submitted screenshots but that doesn't seem to be well enough. I do thank you though for the offer, it was really kind to say the least.
  24. If you’d like to help me out I would appreciate it, I have no interest in racism, bullying or making someone feel bad, I just want to enjoy the game it is my escape from reality, I don’t want to join large companies or do I have any friends who also play, perhaps I’ll make some along the way but I’m fine being solo as well. You bring up a good point in how the landscape of the game is but at the same time that also enforced my statement as well, if there is nothing but struggles for people trying to start the game and they keep quitting it because they can’t get started then you’ll find yourself owning everything and having nothing because there will be no community to support the game, all the big mmos are constantly trying new ways to keep the players they have and bring in new ones at the same time, Atlas has the potential to be great but not if it fails before it gets started
  25. From my personal experience from a new player stand point in PVE, you start the game out (if your a solo player) in a home server.. gathering enough supplies to build a raft (sloop now), a bed, a fire and some storage container. Once you've spent the time doing that you set sail, not really knowing which direction to go but you know you need to find some land that you can starting building your home base or at least a starter point for building bigger boats and learning the game mechanics better. The problem is that finding space to build on is a issue.. especially for a new player who is trying to survive hunger, ghost ships, dehydration and RL time. Now once you find a Island, then you have to contend with the creatures of the Island, especially the wolfs and Crocs.. now the crocs can be dealt with on land but in the water you might as well forget about it.. those four legged lizards can climb up on boat and kill you over and over and over again.. If you can make it to land you can run from the crocs and snakes but the over grown dogs will eat you alive in a matter of seconds. So since you can't sail backwards you try to turn your craft around in panic while your trying to escape and crash into shore, rocks or the ground which is just under the water and now your stuck.. you try going left and right, back and forth just anything you can do get free, well by then you've done damaged your craft and it's now sunk so you have no choice but to go back to your home starting area and start again.. This time around you scan the areas before you start making landfall, you look for the areas that are least populated by the things that can kill you, once you find that you make landfall again, and then the real struggle begins.. trying to find a area to claim that has water access to build a shipyard.. now keep in mind it has to be deep enough that your ship doesn't break apart when you release it from the shipyard. If you've managed to find all this you've got to be one of the luckiest players around or have a desk job where you can play on your computer all day.. the rest of us have to try and do all this within a four and five hour window after we get home from our job that allows us to pay for the things we like to enjoy.. like this game for example. So for the amount of time it requires someone to lose their claim as far as I'm concerned if they have more then one claim then they need to log off on the one they want to save, you can fast travel via beds.. leave your ship at one area your exploring and travel back to your base via death when you go to log for the night or whatever, for those of you who have multiple areas claimed then a few hour window should be fine that will allow new players or those who are struggling to find a place a chance to start building and enjoying the game as it was intended instead of constantly starting over and trying to find a place that hasn't been claimed. Keep in mind the frustration a new player will have to deal with and how many will quit because it seems you can't get started in the game.. If you have a area that you've built a base on then I don't mind 3 months for it to become available to claim as long as you've logged off the game in it.. for other areas a couple hours is plenty of time that can give another person a chance.
