Trying to tame a lvl 10 elephant. I'm getting the option to feed wheat but when I press "E", nothing happens.

Finally died, had to wait for dehydration to lose the last 5 health. I was trying to die by using up my stamina. Unfortunately my health wouldn't drop below 5. Only dehydration would kill me. My food never dropped below 72.
