Why go to lawless, way more space on claimed land.

Try communicating with people in the game it is multiplayer, find that governor that want's people to increase his tax timer.

They will build ramps and routes up to those hard to reach resources, won't cost you anything and they'll get some taxes to compensate.

Who'd of thought an MMO where communication and cooperation is a requirement for getting better faster.

(Do you recall the plans they had for lawless? that didn't make it into the game yet. It might still be coming).

Because I don't feel like putting the time and effort into building a base where the owner could evict us on a whim... what I learned from my time on earth is that people are assholes, especially when they are hidden behind the curtain of the internet.

all you did was defend a game mechanic that is ludicrously non-immersive because you don't repeatedly nearly kill an animal to win it's loyalty in real life.

I think it's ludicrous to complain about real life fallicies in a fantasy game...  you couldn't really ride a tiger or wolf in real life carrying a bunch of gear wearing plate, but we all decided to play along.  Having SoTD isn't real life, but we play along... to get all hung up over the torture of animals in a game that has hangings, guillotines, handcuffs and various other crimes of humanity, is a bit weird.

  3. I think taming is fine... there is enough challenge to keep it interesting, but very doable. I would hate a game with no challenge, and hope Atlas doesn't continue to listen to the whiners.

I found a sweet spot with the Giraffe that seems consistent... belly crawl and put your head against the underside front hoof. I do have sneak maxed out, so not sure if it will work as well otherwise, but found that even if the Giraffe tried to hit me, he couldn't.

  4. As they start popping up, move to behind the Archers and take them out first, I like using the Pike... then keep moving so the big guy doesn't get the big swings on you and take out the Soldiers... I then pull out my pistols, because they don't share the Pike slot, and blast the Warrior... that should put a big dent in him allowing to easily finish up with the Pike. Don't forget your Glider Suit so you don't have to climb back down the mountain.

You mean "Fiction" like in a game?

If company ownership is going to be the norm, then tames and ships need to have a way to lock their usage to admins and specific players. The thing I wish we could do now is to is transfer ship ownership should someone desire to leave the company.  Nobody who put effort into growing a company should have to resort to punching trees should they choose to leave.

Sounds too much like marriage and you are asking for a prenup... even if there was a way to pass items back to a player if they decide to leave the company, I can see this getting messy more times than not, and having to hear the  sad stories here, and Grapeshot having to deal with complaints and demands to force Companies to return items... you shouldn't be joining a team if you are not committed to playing as a team. If I take the time to tame an animal or build a ship, I must understand that I was able to accomplish that because others harvested mats, prepared food or claimed the land that allowed me to contribute to the Company, not to myself.

  7. On a few occasions I have pulled up to a shore to grab a discovery point, or searching for anchorage, only to have my Company Mate ask "what the hell are you doing"? I see an island, but his view is that we are in the middle of open water... I log out and come back in to see things his way. Anyone else go through this?
