  1. They screwed up a lot of resources. I was getting Tin from a Cobalt node and only flint from something else that said it had stone, flint, and metal. There are a lot of things that gave Fiber before but now give berries and still lots of mixups in the type of fruit or vegetable you get from things. I was getting coconut from a cactus. lol
  2. The tax doesn't affect you at all just FYI. It's not a reduction of the resources you take but an addition to the owner of 30% of what you harvest. You still get the same amount of resources. Just wanted to clear that up. It's one of the few things they did right.
  3. Now that the summer sale is almost over and they've scammed a few more thousand people we won't hear from the Devs/Community Managers again until the next map change and Steam sale. Good luck with your problem though.
  4. Still can't shoot a snake because of broken hitbox mechanics! Takes 20 shots to the head to get 1 hit. Taming a giraffe or elephant in a trap or along bumpy terrain is still terrible because of the positioning and rendering. Just make it so we can stick food up their ass already instead of trying to crawl underneath their armpit. Still get dropped in the sea when I'm offline on a ship that crosses a border. Do you all even care about fixing bugs or just trying to milk as much money using underhanded advertising tactics in conjunction with Steam sales?
  5. Oh yeah, they already have a way to control faction strength. It's called the Army of the Damned. The 4th faction that is NPC that comes in and roflstomps the biggest faction so they have to focus on protecting themselves more than going out and going all MEGACLAN on the other factions. The other factions could even then get quests to help extinguish the threat for high value rewards and control of neutral areas. AKA British Navy and Pirates against East India trading company and Davy Jones in Pirates of the Caribbean. SO MANY THINGS THEY COULD DO IF THEY JUST HAD VISION.
  6. Right now, the game has ZERO focus and ZERO long term objectives or goals. That's the true problem with Atlas. There's only so many times I can restart and work up to Mythic quality ships and items before I say been there done that, got the hat. I've played through all the achievements (except for that damned squid and ghost ship which have now eluded me twice!) 3 times now and I'm not interested in doing ANY of that again. There's only so many times I can stand on top of a cliff and solo the hydra using grenades and a high level carbine for a key fragment Grapeshot! I think factions, implemented correctly, would be fun and give some point and group focus/objective to the game. This would also allow new players a chance to jump into the game without getting steamrolled if the focus is to be PvP. There's no reason you can't include PvE and PvP in the same game, many games have done this successfully. Create 3-4 factions with neutral areas in between the starting areas that have the high value resources and objectives. Can have trade areas within those zones that can be fought over for control and the faction that owns them gets a port area with trade items and quests. AQuests could include killing the Hydra or Drake. Killing off the AoD creatures or ships, etc. After 24 hours of control, it can become contested and the fight begins again. Huzzah! Golden Age runes in the middle not controlled that is a free for all so you can even fight your own faction if you want. How fun to have a Company day where we go kill eachother and trap one another in cages! Possible factions include Pirates, Colonials, Privateers, etc Pirate faction may have quests to loot merchant ships, find gold, or prized gems. Colonial faction could have factions for defeating pirate factions or building resources. Privateer quests could include shipping or smuggling goods, hunting high profile targets or creatures, etc. Look at DaOC. A great longstanding 3 faction PvP game that was very successful and fun as hell. If someone could take that game and modernize it it would smash all the current PvP games to bits. There are so many things you can do with factions in a PvP pirate sailing game. Shit, I should just use the basic setup of Atlas and make my own game.
  7. MIddle island has a freeport on the west side and as above poster mentioned, the NE island has a freeport on the NE corner of the island that is very cool oriental themed. Just be careful sailing there and getting out of ship because just to the west there is a big fricking hole in the graphics where you fall through the water. Huge bug and you can lose your ship.
  8. I'm going to say you haven't been playing this game long, probably a new console player? So you haven't been around to see the evolution of Atlas. It's been downright painful. Their focus on PvP and PvP "fixes" has led to stupid and short sighted decisions that have made the game worse overall than it was a year ago. Also, I've played dozens of early access games and the EA excuse is not sufficient enough for this lack of development and communication.
  9. It's another unfinished product with a lot of bugs and missing things and no one is addressing any of it.
  10. Enablechats cheat god cheat gfi twohandedmace 1 1000 0 All kidding aside, it's impossible without an army of bears since regular weapons and explosives don't do very much damage to AoD anymore. Why, you ask, can't we use normal weapons? It's pretty dumb actually. They nerfed explosives and ranged weapons (except crossbow) because people were using ship cannons on AoD in the Golden Age Ruins to max ships really fast. Instead of making an intelligent game design, like, making ship cannons just do a different type of damage, they screwed everyone and now you HAVE to use VERY HIGH LEVEL bears since they then buffed AoD a couple patches ago too. I think the high turnover in developers and coders and lack of efficient patch notes and communication has done irreparable damage to this game.
  11. You're my boy Blue! As a player volunteer moderator, yes you are limited. But that doesn't mean all you have to do is moderate. For example, you can analyze and review those negative comments, make a summary, then send them on and become our intermediary to the developers. I'm sure you ARE doing this but let us know. Create a thread with your summary and ask for feedback from the community. There are some tremendous ideas that are generated in this forum. You can also create some positive threads. Don't just be reactive. That never leads to a good place. Start up the bi-weekly build threads and community art threads. Where are the "what's your most memorable moment in Atlas" threads? That kind of stuff needs to be promoted more. The Forums are a much better place for that than Discord.
  12. From my many years of gaming and experience in the real world, it's the Developer and Moderators that create and sustain the culture of a gaming community. See lots of negativity, unanswered questions that lead to angry posts, well, where's the response from the devs and moderators? I just leave it at that.
  13. So I'm guessing no on the updates for Blackwood?
  14. Yep, waiting on New World as well. Amazon has the assets to actually hire competent designers and will be able to actually fund development without doing cash grab releases of unfinished games.
  15. Map is cool but unfinished, buggy, and imbalanced. Is it possible for a group to use the map editor to go in and fix it?
  16. They don't work on the Blackwood map at all if that is what you are playing. Blackwood map has all kinds of issues such as plant boxes not working on most islands, falling through the water in some areas, way too many damned mermaids on the Powerstone island, no fish in ocean in many areas, that I doubt will be fixed.
  17. So we figured out what it is. Going to share in case this is happening to others. We started poking around in the files and within atlasmain/shootergame/saved there is a file that holds information for the individual players. Not sure what all of it is but there were a couple that were very large, like 2.4GB. The file extensions are XXXXXXXXXXXX.arkprofile. We analyzed the file and it was just a bunch of bed activity and other nonsense. So we deleted the largest file and viola, no issues. So now we go in and clean out all those files that get too large.
  18. Renting a server from Nitrado and running the Blackwood map. It was great for about 2 weeks but as of early last week the CPU usage on the dashboard shows continuous 90%-95% usage. Restart helps for a short time but within 10-30 minutes the RAM usage jumps up and CPU pegs out again and we get terrible rubber banding to the point it's unplayable. We don't have a ton of large buildings or anything and only about 10 ships. Got about 10-12 bears tamed, 3 giraffes, 2 elephants, and some chickens, sheep, and cows but nothing crazy. We've messed with the config settings a bit and have 3X harvesting, XP, mating, etc. Half on food and vitamins consumption. I don't think there's anything on settings that are way out of line but maybe certain settings really screw up the program? We had some issues with claims and company where we lost some claim flags along with boats and buildings and had to use admin commands to force ownership back too. I wish we could just turn claim flags off as it's a PITA but not sure what setting that is. I feel like that may be part of the issue. Anyone else having similar issues or have any suggestions?
  19. I haven't logged onto NA PVE for a couple weeks now. Before that, for a month, it was really just to feed animals and check gold on ships. Now I could care less. Was waiting to see how the ARK expansion would turn out and based on bug reports and what I've seen so far in reviews not going to bother picking it up. Playing on a private server at the moment with a couple real life friends and family but once that gets old (and Cyberpunk comes out) I'm absolutely done with this company. Very poor communication, lack of QC in patch releases, lack of vision, and lack of understanding on what their community wants. It was a fun ride through ARK and Atlas but without some major communication changes and innovations in the game, this company is done.
  20. Yes, anyone. Really sort sighted on the coding of that one. There's still a raft in D6 Mid Southwest large Island that's been stuck in a dock since almost the launch date. No bed and just a chest and a campfire on it. The company name and everything else is all digits because the owner doesn't even exist on the servers anymore. The owners of that dock just built around it. Very laughable.
  21. Based on the initial reviews of Genesis, I don't think we'll be seeing any development here for a while. Looks like they dropped another giant turd and this one may just overflow the shit show to the point where the company may have to dig for a while.
  22. I've never seen the Ghost ship in the Blackwood dedicated server that my friend has. Not a ton of hours in it, about 40, but it's a fairly small map and I've sailed over all of it multiple times gathering resources.
  23. There was a similar suggestion of making something like this in the Freeports. Where you have a animal yard with a vendor who you list your animals with. Essentially it just uploads the animal to the server, you can scroll through the animals on the list that includes type, price, base stats window, then select the one you want and poof, one of the animals in the pen becomes your new purchased animal. There are so many good ideas out there that could make this game great but there has been zero recognition by this development team. So sad.
  24. What is silly and just broken is that there are players with multiple accounts and alt companies that own dozen's of islands and don't do shit on them except earn gold from treasure maps. The current design of this game is a broken mess.
