  1. The "Fountain of Youth" quest is a temporary fix until they get the perma-death and baby system finished.
  2. PvP in this game is NOT good. It's a free for all where there is no choice so It happens mostly during offline for 1 of the parties and there are no consequences or rewards. Since there is no goal, people don't have anything to focus on, and just do it to be dicks. There is very little skill involved, no scaling, and exploiting is rampant and goes unpunished. There have been a few games that did MMO PvP right and this game has NONE of the aspects of any of those games. If you want to see good MMORGP PvP games then look to games like Dark Age of Camelot, EVE, and Elder Scrolls Online. DaOC - Faction based with 3 factions and each faction had it's own realm and then frontiers between that were fought over. Control of frontiers gave you rewards and bragging rights. EVE - I didn't play it a lot but it was all about resources. You had to fight for resources and it had a working economy and factions with NPC's. There was areas with security forces where you could run. Space stations were neutral. You could pay for security of your station and if you missed a payment you became vulnerable. Politics were abundant. There was true loss in the game and a newbie naked ship couldn't do much against an established outpost or other ship. Elder Scholls Online - A huge PvP dedicated zone that was faction based. Whoever controlled the zone was the Ruler. There were 3 factions for balance. There were different keeps within the zone and towns and what not that were linked to them. If you owned a keep you had control of the NPC's in that area and could get quests and buy stuff. So how could this translate to Atlas? This is a pirate game but there were different groups of pirates during the ages of piracy and not all of them got along well. There were privateers, buccaneers, corsairs, etc. Some of these "factions" were region based. I can see this fitting into Atlas. Or you could go one further and even make "Nations". Within each nation you could also have "factions". You could have a traders faction (neutral faction increased by trading), a government faction (increased by defeating pirates, other nations ships, or defeating SoTD), and a pirate faction (increased by pirating activities such as taking a hostage from another nations outpost or taking out other nations government NPCs, etc). PvP areas could be in between the factions areas that could be the lawless regions with Nation outposts and a build at your own risk mentality. There could be more abundance of rarer resources in these areas and "missions" that you get from your freeports to defeat a certain SoTD or number of them (only found in lawless zones) for blueprints, treasure maps could be more abundant there and higher level, etc. Freeports could be the safe zones that could be spread out evenly between the factions. Golden age ruins could also be evenly spread and be a faction controllable zone. In order to do the Powerstones quest your faction would have to control the zone there (similar to ESO) in order to get the quest from an Outpost on the ruins island that would be a safe port. If you didn't control the zone, you could still land but the quest and purchases (rare skins, shipheads, etc) wouldn't be available. The faction that last defeated the Hydra or Drake or controlled a central flag point or something, would have control of the port.
  3. Before the change my max level was like 61 and after it was like 71 so I don't think they changed the number you need per level. Max level is currently 78 and I'm only 63 so I have a ways to go. I've killed both whales and 8 powerstones. Powerstones are fairly easy to get if you hang around the powerstone islands when Hydra or Dragon is up and you just assist in the kill). I haven't explored a ton so it's not that bad. I got 3 in one night even.
  4. I was just kidding by the way. I know they took prisoners and hostages were also taken for ransom. A lot of times the prisoners (especially young ones) were put to work as cabin boys but sometimes they just needed some "enjoyment". Nothing like a good keehauling with some friendly wagers to lighten the spirits. I just wish we had the ability to keelhaul people. I know a couple company-mates that need to be tossed over and dragged as shark bait.
  5. Must be a synching issue between the servers and zones.
  6. They should add a toggle for thick or light application. That way you can have a weathered look if you want or a fresh paint look. It wouldn't be that hard to implement. Would just mean doubling the models they have. I'd rather have that than more paint colors than I know what to do with.
  7. Pirates don't take prisoners! That's the easiest solution to your problem.
  8. Sounds like it must count the sea bed as the ground level then.
  9. If I remember correctly it's 55 structure limits on height from the island ground. How tall of a tower are you trying to build?
  10. Network: EU PVE Grid: F7 Description of issue: We have a small hut on the beach that we store Iridium that we farm from the surrounding cliff tops. We glide from the tops of the mountains to the hut and unload so our ships can stop by any time to pick up a load. On my last run I was coming in hot and shifted down to hit the water but my trajectory and angle lined me up perfectly with the doorway so I figured wth, I'll just crash through the door. I knew I would probably die from hitting the wall/doorway/ground but I didn't expect this. As soon as I hit the threshold between the outside and the doorway, my computer blue screened. It could have been a vid card overload as I was coming in fast and right before the crash my FPS dropped from 50 to 2. When I logged back in all my hardware settings were reset (sound, graphics, etc), and the game intro tutorial started up across the top of my screen (the 10 hints thingy). There was no death notice for my Company mates that were with me (2 other members) and my body was lodged into the foundations of the building (LOL) when I rebooted my computer and logged back into game. I was able to retrieve everything with no difficulty. Maybe I hit so hard that it just crashed the game. Any screenshots or video demonstrating the bug: Repro steps if available/applicable: I tried to reproduce but could never get my flight lined up perfectly again to glide right the doorway from up high. I did die about 10 times hitting the ground and wall though but never had another error. CCC (if location specific, please include the CCC with your report):
  11. Agree with Lotus above on the higher end content (Kraken in this instance). If they just gave everyone everything easily people would stop playing the game after a few weeks. You need to put a little work into the game for the higher end content and advancement. The advanced content is not meant to be done solo (though it can be with enough work). It's not hard to use Global or coordinate on the forums to find a group that is killing the Kraken. You don't even have to engage it just be close. It's more fun to actually engage and help and you might die, but hey, that's part of the learning experience. Also, you can solo kill whales and even the Hydra. All you need is a ship and a crew. You can literally solo every single Powerstone by participating in a hydra or dragon kill (or even solo Hydra by kiting in the water on a ship) and sailing to the different powerstone caves for turn in. But it will take some time and investment. Just play the game and enjoy the early adventures. Go explore and collect materials. Then upgrade your ship, cannons, and sails by fighting SOTD's. Start with greens and upgrade to Fine items and then move up through Masterwork. This is what an MMORPG is about. Once you get some decent upgrades you can solo a lot of things, even the Kraken. I'm going to go a little bit philosophical on your asses here. You can continue reading and profit from my 43 years of life wisdom or you can stop reading now. I know we all play games to escape the toughness of real life. Sometimes It is fun to turn on God mode and increase spawn rates to obscene amounts and get everything in easy mode, but that enjoyment is short lived. Once I've done that the game becomes boring quickly. True enjoyment and satisfaction comes from working hard, solving problems, and learning from your mistakes and then finding success. But if you are too afraid of failing, then you've already lost and might as well quit trying. My best gaming memories are not of me roflstomping/godmoding through content but rather are from me getting my ass (along with friends asses) handed to me over and over but not giving up but then finally succeeding. The hard you work for something, the more satisfaction you get out in the end. One of my professions is as a Collegiate Volleyball Coach. I've seen a lot of kids in my life go from teenagers to working adults. I can tell you from experience, the ones that are the most successful as adults are not the ones that had all the talent and just breezed through College, it's the ones that put in the work.
  12. The vid below shows quite a few colors and what looks good.
  13. Why didn't I think of this! Thanks Gin.
  14. I learned this the hard way on day 1. I always take into consideration if there's a spot deep enough to put a ship yard before making a base now. I will admit it was pretty funny though when we released that first schooner and it flipped up in the air and did a couple barrel rolls before shattering to pieces.
  15. I've been enjoying exploring the regions and finding discoveries, or as you call it "the grind". I built a schooner just for exploring and started up in A1. Be sure you have a smithy to replace/repair spy glasses (to find discoveries), grappling hooks , and climbing picks. Also make sure you have a tannery to make fur armor and repair gliding suits (for easy getting down from high places where there are discoveries and/or for finding them easily). I added a diving platform later in order get fiber (seaweed) from the ocean floor as there is no fiber except underwater and I ran out of the fiber I brought. It's also advisable to have a bear for low treasure maps. There are 26 discoveries in A1 alone. 23 discoveries in B1. It's a little tough, you will die, you will lose equipment (why you need the smithy and tannery). But it's easy to replace that gear and exploring is an enjoyable part of the game for me so the risk is worth the reward to me. Also, I try to put at least 1 bed on each island so my company can hop around and find them as well. This also makes it cheaper for settlements as each settler makes it less expensive for owning an island (upkeep payment time increases). I have roughly 300 discoveries already I haven't even explored 1/10th of all the zones yet. Good place to start below. Just FYI, if you don't know, you can sail north in A1 and go to A15. I'm trying to do all the Polar zones first so my plan is to zigzag between rows 1 and 2 and 14 and 15 from A to O. https://atlas.gamepedia.com/Region_A1
  16. The radius is not that large anymore and if you put a billboard I'm sure they would see it. The reason I suggested the sign is I was bed travelling on some of our companies discoveries and another group used this with our bed and I moved our bed so it can work.
  17. I've met quite a few of them and they seem pretty nice. You could also put a sign by it asking if they will move it and I'm sure they will.
  18. TIILY, they are based out of D6. My company, Blackstorm Raiders, is in Alliance with them and we are in D5. Probably easiest way to contact them is in game.
  19. \signed I know you guys are working hard and get a lot of crap here on the forums but there are many people, the silent majority, that do appreciate you guys. Most of us understand there isn't going to be 1 perfect solution for everyone but I personally think the game is heading in the right direction.
  20. All I see is a bunch of whining and crying from some trollbabies. Listen kiddos, the world doesn't revolve around you like your helicopter parent's taught you. Learn to play with others and take things as they are while working to promote positive change. Also, I never said the game was without flaws. It has plenty of flaws. Our company finds them daily and report them to the Developers. Things are being fixed and worked on more than you know. If you don't like it, go find another sand box to play with and let the people that are trying to be constructive continue to test the game and have fun. Also, correlating the drop in population to the current claim system is a complete fail. The drop in population happened PRIOR to the current claim system. It was due to the wipe announcement and then the corresponding delay. If you look at the the numbers since March, the peak was 9,331 in March and within the last 30 days it has risen to 12,298. I also know that some people are waiting until the NA PvE server is released to come back and test the new system. So, saying that 50% of people don't want to settle on someone else's land is completely false.
  21. So basically you're just making up statistics that aren't based on any facts to further your own agenda and crying game? You should just stop now.
  22. Yeah, I'd like to see your source on this as well. My company owns a 53 point island and we have multiple settlers on it. We also have outposts on others settled islands for resources that we need and move resources back and forth for trade. Overall, I think the island owning part is coming along very nicely in most cases. The lawless part on the other hand, well, they need to figure out a better decay/upkeep system. The pillar and foundation spam in some areas is horrendous. You don't need to "own'" a big area in lawless. You need to be able to build a spot for yourself and not have some a$$hole grief you by building right on top of you. I'm sure they could figure out some way that for each connected piece, you get a larger area of influence where people can build around you. For pieces not connected, they should have an upkeep/repair cost or degrade over time or something.
