  1. I played Ark when it was early access, and they never wiped. No, I would NOT automatically expect a wipe. Not at all. But while I don't like the thought of losing all of our progress in Atlas, the wipe isn't, for me, what I'm so mad about. Its the fact that the devs said they wanted our feedback, then they do the opposite of what we all said would fix a problem. THAT... is why I'm so mad. The wipe I can deal with, even if I don't really like it. *EDIT* Would like to add, I get why a wipe is necessary. There really is a need for it if the pve claim system is going to drastically change, not to mention all of the pillar/foundation spam across lawless. Its HOW the pve claim system is changing. THAT crap is just wrong on soo many levels. Its going to leave a whole lot of room for overlords making near-slaves out of those who build on 'their island'. And the whole boxing in/gating ships/pillar and foundation spamming will continue, believe it or not.
  2. My company and I have decided that if we're home, and online, we will rejoin after the patch and try to make a land grab. I don't know if we will stay if we can't get land of our own, but we'll see. We absolutely do NOT like the way they are doing the claim system with the landlord(overlord, in some cases)/tenant(slave) idea. Honestly, I think they made pve this way on the land claiming because it was easier for the devs to copy/paste the code from pvp, change a few variable names, than to completely rewrite the code necessary to give the pve peoples what they actually asked for/suggested. If I've the right of it, its a lazy way to do a game, and not smart at all because of the sheer number of players they have let down and pissed off. They don't seem to care about us, though... 'hey we're going to wipe the servers after you spent three months working your asses off for what you have, and then we're going to double fuck you by removing the claim system. Oh, You don't like that? you want to just limit the number of claim flags per person per company? Here... Here is a hat skin, and *poof*... Now we'll only allow one claim per whole island and if you aren't the one who claims it, you can be the renter... have fun." i mean, honestly, i can't be the only one who sees it like this. Its wrong of the devs to not listen to us, and to give us something that is still the opposite of what we asked for or suggested. But those I game with want to at least try to make a land grab, so we'll try.
  3. LMAO.. they might have glanced at what we were saying, but they didn't actually read, nor comprehend, what we wrote. In other words, they heard our outcry, but didn't actually HEAR what we said. If they had, then the changes they want to make would NOT be 1 claim flag per island. Thats soooo dumb! Might I remind you that one of the key selling points of this game was that a company could own their own land? Hmmm... seems like a form of 'click bait' for a game, dont you think? And a bit of false advertisement, if you ask me.
  4. I'm done. As much as I love Atlas, if I can't claim my own piece of land, free of taxes, to build on, then forget it. This game was advertised as a place a company could claim some land for themselves to build on, and the Devs have taken away that one great selling point. I absolutely REFUSE to live on someone else's land, paying some stupid tax rate to them, just so they can play alpha of a whole island. Nope. No way. It means all of us who would be living under someone else's flag will have to grind that much harder to get anything done, and I absolutely refuse. Thanks a lot Devs... you really did NOT listen to a damn one of us, did you?? I don't play pvp, but even I don't like what you're doing with the claims there either. Its not right. Your 'new system' promotes Communism and abuse by large/mega companies. If you don't care that smaller companies/lone players could be treated this way, then SHAME ON YOU. I absolutely can NOT believe you read all of our comments on the planned changes, and think THIS crap is what we wanted. You've ruined your own game by not listening to your player base, AND by catering to large/mega tribes. And.... before anyone suggests that I could just go hurry and claim my own island, I'll be at work the day this releases. I, nor anyone in my company, will be online for several hours after this release to claim anything. by the time we get home and online, all of the land will be gone. we WORK for a living. This new system is not a fair deal for 'everyone'. This new shit will only benefit those who have your favoritism: megas. Thats it.
  5. I was told that PvE wasn't getting player shops at all, only PvP. AND I read it multiple places.
  6. Having played so long in ark, both pvp and pve, I can tell you that being able to claim land was half what drew me to play Atlas. If you claim a piece of land, no one can build on it but you, unless YOU state otherwise. it prevents a great deal of griefing by trolls and asshats who like to box you in, gate your boats, pillar/foundation spam huge chunks of land if not whole islands. It gives you a place to ensure you KEEP a place of your own, and all you have to do is visit your base at least once every week or so to keep the time up on it. Its a great feature, and removal of it would turn all of atlas pve into lawless regions, and if you haven't experienced the griefing/pillar/foundation spam, then you're in the minority. truly.
  7. Keep those votes coming guys! The more people who vote, the better!
  8. If everyone wants a poll, here ya go. There are three. Please take the time to visit them to cast your votes, and share these links with anyone you know playing on official Atlas PvE servers. Share them around... The more votes, the better! EDIT: Since they have changed the claim system plans, this poll is no longer valid. And to be honest, I'm not bothering with another one. This idea of letting one company own a whole island forcing the rest of us to pay taxes to the owning tribe is bullshit. For as much as they said they were listening to us, they really didn't listen to us at all, did they? Thank you, guys, for helping out. I wish the devs would have actually listened to us.
  9. If everyone wants a poll, here ya go. There are three. Please take the time to visit them to cast your votes, and share these links with anyone you know playing on official Atlas PvE servers. https://linkto.run/p/4C2XPGLC https://linkto.run/p/C9RG01FO https://linkto.run/p/RX01WH5F The Devs are welcome to check in on them (Please Do!!!!) to see the results.
  10. Yeah.... Just look at PvE on Ark. They've never bothered to help people who've been boxed in, walled in, walled out, foundation or pillar bombed. They don't care about PvE, and thats really damn sad. Why even offer it if you're not going to care about the people who choose to play that style? I just don't know. I'll tell you this much though... as of right now I'm bored as hell. I don't own a lot of games. I can't afford them. So I'm sitting here wondering what to do with my time, because there is no point in doing anything on officials since they're just gonna wipe it all anyway, and I'm skiddish about going to unofficial because I've heard a lot of people say they started on one, was getting pretty built up, only for the server to vanish because the owner didn't/couldn't afford to pay the bill. The Devs need to go ahead and do their wipe/update so those of us morons who are actually willing to try the new system out on officials (and prove their decisions in this are wrong!) can get on with it. The longer they leave it all in limbo like this, the more people will be gone permanently.
  11. Idc what anyone says, Meatsammich has the right of it. Totally, completely, and never better said. I've always tried to be patient, and understanding, of the Devs' positions in all of this, but even to me it has become obvious that they cater only to PvP, and care little about PvE, even though we are at MINIMUM... 45% of the player base of the whole game. Whats worse is that the Devs aren't responding to any of this. I'm not even sure they actually read anything we say. If they did, they wouldn't be completely removing the claiming system from PvE, they would simply restrict it LIKE EVERYONE HAS ASKED/RECOMMENDED FROM THE BEGINNING. How the holy FUCK can a dev team of any game so grossly ignore their player base is absolutely mind blowing. Its as if they don't even live on the same planet as the rest of us humans, and have forgotten how rotten people can actually be. I will try the new system, but I do expect it to fail miserably. But here is my problem: I don't think the Devs will care about PvE failing, the griefing that will be, the pillaring, foundation spamming... resource and ship blocking.... You have but to look at Ark PvE to see THAT clearly enough. And I'm really saddened, disheartened, that this game has SO much potential, and yet the very creators of it will also be its demise, along with all the griefers/exploiters/greedy ass people who will ruin it for other players.
  12. We DID build in lawless. But some asian group, a large one, moved onto the same island and pillar/foundation bombed almost every free spot left on the whole island. If the devs hadn't disabled the resource blocking of pillars and foundations, NOTHING would have spawned in on that island. And I'm sure their goal was to do just that, and prevent anyone else from getting a place of their own.
  13. Yes, many people left the game. You're convinced it was all about land claims. I don't think you understand at all.... being able to claim land wasn't the problem. It was that it was completely unregulated/unrestricted, so one company could claim multiple, ENTIRE islands, leaving little to no room for anyone else. But removing the land claims entirely is also a very bad mistake. You admitted you've not played Ark, so allow me to enlighten you about what a no-land-claim option looks like: larger tribes building boxes around your base (walls, ceiling, no doors, and in pve since you can't harm other people's structures.... you're completely caged in.) You now can't get out of your base unless you die and respawn out in the wild, and if you do that you can't get back in to your base. If you have tames, they eventually starve because you can't get to them to feed them. So you're forced to abandon your base, your tames and your progress, and start over either on the same server (if you want to risk it... you got boxed in a passive-aggressive way to get rid of you because the tribe or tribes didn't want you by them, or on 'their server'.) or now you must find a new server and hope the people there are much friendlier. Good luck. This kind of passive agressive 'we don't want you here' is rampant, common, and the devs will not help you. This is just ONE example, and likely the most common, outside of pillaring and foundation bombing to prevent anyone else from building. And again, in pve, there is NOTHING you can do to help yourself, because you can't damage another player's structures. And No, waiting for the pve decay timer doesn't work because you're going up against very active tribes. This is what a no-land-claim system in Atlas will be like. Please do NOT make the mistake of thinking it won't happen. The majority of us want the claiming system BECAUSE it stops anyone from doing this shit to you. It also prevents the blocking of resources, pillaring your ships/docks, or forcing you out by caging you in your base, because no one can build in your claim area. I promise you this right now: When this no-claim thing proves to become the griefing-fest we all know it will, the devs will not help us. You are truly the minority if you think no claim is a good thing.
  14. What the heck? Can you read? I described exactly what you just said, but in a bit more detail. And now you are using me as an example of why we need claim flag? Wow, this is why people just can not play nicely together on official servers. We are both saying exactly the same thing, doing exactly the same thing, but I'm the asshole and you are the great guy that is just doing what is necessary. What the heck?? Can't YOU read? This is EXACTLY what people in PvE do NOT want! PILLAR SPAMMING. And you post that this is now what we all must do? Seriously??
  15. And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why we need claim flags! We now know who at least ONE of the pillar-spamming people is! I absolutely refuse to pillar spam more than where I intend to build, and a very small radius around that. I will NOT be one of those assholes who blocks everything up. DEVS... WE NEED CLAIM FLAGS IN PVE..... THIS IS WHY, RIGHT HERE!
  16. I absolutely DO NOT like the wipe, but even I can see it might be the only solution at this point. Going through the entire atlas world, server by server, island by island, to remove every claim flag and every pillar or foundation spammed around would be impossible. Since I've been in the Dev kit and played around in making my own map I can honestly say that if you change the current landscape of an island or move it, bases will be destroyed, animals left out in the open, possibly drifting by the dozens if not hundreds in the oceans... not ideal. So I can see why a wipe is deemed necessary even if I don't like it at all. But we DO need claiming in PvE to ensure that when a company or solo player builds a base/shipyards/ships, they aren't griefed and/or forced to abandon what they've worked their asses off for just because some other asshole wants their spot or wants to be a douche. Just limit claims to so many per company, or so many per player per company with a hard limit on the max a company can have. Thats more than reasonable, and would prevent a lot of the problems we are now facing after the wipe/update.
  17. I do believe what is being said here is that if that little screenshot is completely accurate, its not going to stop spamming in lawless regions. the stuff will decay over time, sure, but all the griefer has to do is replace it and carry on. And trust me, there are asses out there more than willing to do it.
  18. We built in a lawless region. A11 to be exact, on New Atoll. On the south/southeast side. We LOVE our base, and our location. We spammed only the area in which we lived, ONLY so no one could crowd us out, but not enough to prevent anyone else from finding a spot. We had no problems other than with some chinese group who pillared most of the rest of the island, and we're so damn thankful it didn't block resource spawns! My point is, building in lawless was fine. yeah, it sucked that you couldn't leave your base for longer than 3 and a half days before you had to go back to reset the timer on things, but we dealt with it because we loved our location. We have decided that we will go back to a11 after the wipe/mega update and see if our spot is still there/the same and we'll build there again if it is. I spent 45 minutes last night taking pictures of our entire base/docks/ships. Hopefully we can rebuild it exactly. Maybe even better. This is going to be a land rush, all over again. I just hope we can find our spot or find A spot quickly before its all grabbed up by large companies or griefers.
  19. I know what they said. EXPLOITS. Nothing about griefing by other players, only exploits: using a loophole in coding of game mechanics to their advantage. walling someone out of their base or walling in their ships so they are forced to abondon them isn't an exploit. its simple griefing, which the lack of PvE claiming will allow. And herein lies the problem. THIS kind of thing they aren't going to help with.
  20. IF they actually do this, fine. But they sure never helped anyone being griefed in PvE Ark. So I'm not holding my breath they will now
  21. I think for solo griefers, or those who are in small companies, sure. But for anyone part of a large enough company, I think we're in trouble.
  22. You know.... everyone needs to understand that today's society isn't worthy of the positive outlook some seem to have regarding other people's behavior. Society has, to a large extent, become little more than sociopaths: They like you only when you suit their purpose, and you're shit under their heels and completely exploitable otherwise. Yes. There are still good people out there, but not as many as you want to believe. Too many people in this world are shitty. They are so damn greedy they would likely shit on their own mother if it meant they gained what they wanted. They want what they want to the exclusion of anyone or anything else, including the rights or feelings of others, irregardless of morals or ethics, in a game or in real life. If any of you don't like what I've stated above, too bad. Its a very sad world that we all now live in that people have become so FAKE that the truth actually offends everyone. I have never been a griefer, and very rarely have I EVER sought to 'get rid of someone' on a game. The ones I've wanted rid of are the people who have absolutely NO respect for anyone or anything else. Griefers. Spammers. Racists. Toxic people. And I can count the number of people like this I've actually 'got rid of' on one hand, NOT using all my fingers. A grand total of 2, inside three years on Ark. None so far on Atlas. For the Devs to honestly think the majority of people will play so nice with each other is delusional. I get they WANT it to be that way, and I think it SHOULD be that way, but alas.... That is NOT realistic of our society. Keeping claim flags in PvE, but hard limiting them to so many per company, is the ONLY way to stave off the griefing and passive-aggressive bullshit we're facing without them. Its the only way to curb the multitude of people out there who will NEVER play nice with others, because the gods above know the Devs won't bother taking any action to free your gated in ships, nor will they come take down the box that someone has erected around your base to force you out.
  23. Oh sure they CAN steal your land. Have you never played PvE in Ark? Let me enlighten you. If i want your land, all I'll have to do is build a huge box around your entire base, then set up an auto-repair to keep it going until you are forced to abondon your base because you no longer have any access to it. Then I just wait for it to auto demo and take over that spot of land. Easy. That. Easy. yes. We DO need a claim system in PvE. And besides stealing/forcing you out of your land, there is the blocking of resources by assholes who want to either 1... take over a very large area and therefore block any resources everyone else needs to maintain/build with forcing them out, or 2.... just to be a troll. And upkeep or no, this WILL happen. Don't be delusional. Oh and lets not forget that they can also gate in your ships so that you can't even use your ships, forcing you to abondon them because you can't even move them anymore. There are companies in Atlas large enough that upkeep on the means to grief/force you out is NOT a problem. WE ABSOLUTELY NEED CLAIMS IN PVE!!! No one can do any of this to you if they CAN'T BUILD IN YOUR CLAIM.
  24. lol I like the idea of a 'petshop'. sounds fun! I loved the idea of player shops. I also wanted to build a 'town' for our company and our allies. But, I'm a builder, and with the new auto decay shit.... its likely not going to happen now. We need claim flags in PvE. Just freakin limit them to so many per company! Otherwise, the spamming and griefing will overrun and ruin the game.
