You can tame in lawless, make sure to have the bones on the zero key (im sure you know that) and finding that sweet spot behind the head and leading the to body takes a bit of time and health.

Pretty much what Tenzarian said, once the oil is in the attachment you can equip the suit when you hover over it and it will unequip your armor and shield. -

So to use the diving suit all you need to do is put oil into the diving attachment on your ship and an option to equip the suit will come up when you hover over it. it will unequip your armor and shield when it equips.
