  1. Great point, Realist! How do you feel about it? Oh wait.. it doesn't matter... You don't play, and you're only here to stoke the flames and get people even more riled up... Pretty sure a reduction in resources is a nice step in the right direction. Of course people are going to complain when things cost more, but stone walls are also pretty much impenetrable to most to anything except really determined PVPers. So yeah, they should have a noticeable cost.
  2. Hopefully permanent! Whatever the reason, it was probably justified. As someone else commented, hopefully now you have the time to practice being a better human being. Byeee~!
  3. yep, got this far and realized "oh, it's another one of these posts." You can't seriously think anyone is going to spend the considerable amount of time you probably spent writing this and actually take it as constructive feedback, do you? Then I skimmed pieces of it and each time, I just shook my head. You've played games... awesome. You're criticizing the development cycle... fantastic. Mostly, though, just seems like a reeeeeally long wall of rambling text by yet another person who thinks they know the Perfect Solution. News flash: if you did, you'd probably be an experienced game developer. Unfortunately, just seems you've played some games and think you know all the answers. PS, when you say "we the players" please don't. You don't speak for me. In fact, quite the opposite. I'm looking forward to new content. And, crazy as it seems, that's part of the development cycle. So thanks for spending what probably amounted to a substantial amount of time writing a wall of gibberish asking to cease adding content to an unfinished game. Hopefully you're ignored. Next.
  4. Well written, OP! Here are my thoughts: Taming: as mentioned above by by another person, I like the concept. I wasn't a big fan of the taming in Ark. Still needs some tweaking, but I like the direction it's going. Armor: I completely disagree with this. When I see people saying they are dying in two hits to wolves and stuff, I know right away that they aren't wearing armor. With a set of plate or fur, you can take a lot more hits, and that means staying alive becomes significantly easier. If you're not wearing armor, you 100% should! Guns/Bows: I really like the guns, for the most part. If you can get a headshot, you'll drop almost anything. BUT! If you miss and need to reload, you're in for a whole world of problems. I usually keep my carbine as my primary weapon and a couple pistols on my hotkey bar as backups. Rarely do I run into issues with this setup, unless I miss my shots and run out of loaded guns. Then it's a scramble to reload (but Lucky Loader is amazing for those scenarios). Harvesting Pets: I agree, partially. I like a bit of grind, and previously when I'd come back with thousands of wood on my elephant, it was *too* easy. I think it was adjusted a bit too far in the opposite direction though. Still, it's pretty manageable and pets still make it easier to farm. Alphas: agreed! Agreed, agreed, agreed! Go away, alphas, and chill out!
  5. This is honestly not meant to troll or regurgitate what is said so often, but try a private server. Some have rules in place to limit some of this. And before anyone starts screaming "I should be able to play however I want on the official servers" the answer is simple: no you shouldn't. You should be playing how the devs intend it to be played. And if that doesn't fit your playstyle, try a private or unofficial server. Having been playing almost exclusively on a private server, I've been thoroughly enjoying the game. In fact, a bunch of us were chatting yesterday about how our experience seems the polar opposite of what many on the forums are saying. (Granted, forums are often biased and drowned out by trolls, but "where there's smoke, there's fire" seems true). Take a step back from the official servers, give an unofficial server a try, and you'll probably find the game gets MUCH better!
  6. This! Even with easy access to all the vitamins, and trying to RP just for the sake of staying alive ("Okay, I'll make an effort this time"), a lot of times it is simply easier to scoop up a poop and eat that and reset. I'm sure that will change when the effects of dying become more pronounced, though. (Or at least I hope it does!) There have been lots of positive changes since the initial launch (and, granted, a few questionable changes as well) so I'm still hoping that this will be addressed and balanced when the devs have time to get to it. Side note: always a pleasant surprise to see a constructive thread! Nice post, OP!
  7. Wow, another thread that is turned into a series of tantrums and name calling. Shocking. While the OP does have a valid point (it would make sense to have announcements also available in the forums), most of the replies are also valid (it's incredibly easy to get to their Twitter updates). The argument that "I paid for it, therefore I demand it" is bogus though. News flash: paying for the game (especially in EA) doesn't entitle you to anything more than playing the game in whatever state it's in, and unfortunately that means bugs and quirks and all. And, just like every other online game, there's a risk there will be server issues from time to time.
  8. This is one specific scenario. In many other scenarios it's a very positive change. Surely you don't think the entire game is being balanced around this one scenario.
  9. Since these two topics come up multiple times per day and it seems like these are the only two things the players (at least in the forums) seem to agree on, let's start a petition! 1. Reduce spawn rates in general To keep it simple, just do a single spawn rate multiplier reduction across the board for all animals, both on land and in the sea. Please, for the love all that is pirate-y, save us! 2. Nerf the alphas! Whatever is easiest: reduce the spawn rate or lower their level. Please, anything at all! Then, when you have the bandwidth (being that you're a small team), make the other adjustments to balance them. This is SUCH a good game underneath all the quirks, and these two would go such a long way in making it a bit easier to enjoy! If you agree, comment below and keep the post going until our prayers are answered!
  10. I didn't think it would ever happen, but it has.... here, folks, we have found the first forum post EVER in the history of games EVER where EVERYONE agrees! (Okay, maybe a little exaggerated, but you get what I'm saying) Maybe if we start a petition and keep this thread always relevant they'll take notice? I'm sure it's in the works to tone them down, but it's a super easy fix! And, granted, there are probably other issues that are deemed higher priority, but... really? There are literally players quitting over this, and not just a few by the sounds of it. If nothing else, just nerf the spawn rate for the time being because it is undeniably too intense! Edit: oops, I forgot my other point! Even just nerfing their level would go a long way.
  11. According to Steam: Join an endless adventure of piracy & sailing, exploration & combat, roleplaying & progression, settlement & civilization-building, in one of the largest game worlds ever! Explore, Build, Conquer! And from what I recall of my anthropology and history classes, trade was a crucial part of forming settlements and civilizations. Fun fact: If you hover your mouse over someone's picture on the left, you have the option to block them. The forums become so much more tolerable and less rage-inducing when you're able to censor the trolls.
  12. Ironically, your post fits that description perfectly. As does this one. (Judging from Percieval's posts, I get the impression he plays. He's also one of my favorite people on the forums. He's more of an anti-troll with some amusing posts) So thanks for coming out, Scorpionshawn. Judging by this thread, the crowd is loving your posts. We've all gathered for the sermon from the Prophet and heard your prophecy... and most of us just roll our eyes and say "The game is geared towards large companies? You don't say!" Hopefully "the game gets old quick" for a lot of the "hardcore Ark players" (aka, "I'm going to grief your base while you're offline!" usually) and they move on to games more to their liking (like Ark), and this game keeps moving in the direction that it is. Keep up the great work, Grapeshot! Despite all the trolls, lots of people are still optimistic
  13. Oh, get over it. I found it amusing that he made a tongue-in-cheek remark. And people can't say they weren't warned. It's not a bug if it's working as intended (yet still needs further balancing). And this is, quite possibly, the first time I have ever seen anyone complain about prioritizing fixing exploits. Ever. In any game I have ever played. Is there an emoji meant for both mindblown and eyerolling? "PVE kids." Because it takes "a real man" to grief someone in the middle of the night and raid their base when they're offline. Riiiiight. And FYI... these aren't REAL issues. You're only playing a video game. And have fun building your garage. I'm pretty sure it's going to look really cool compared to my PVE base.... lol
  14. Is very true, especially considering: It's a really fun genre. I got hooked playing Ark, although I only have 311 hours in Steam with it, so not nearly as obsessed as some players got. But it's definitely a fun genre and a great diversion. I'm almost 2/3 of those hours into Atlas as well. Atlas will get there too at some point, and in the meantime, private servers are where it's at! Great communities, much needed tweaked settings, and a lot of fun!
  15. It's not uncommon to see "So and so died" and over discord all you hear is "vitamins." I don't mind the added complexity or challenge of balancing the vitamins, but it's not done very well yet in Atlas. In Eco, it's done really well. Here, not so much. Hopefully it gets rebalanced
