  1. It seems to be all over the cluster. We have the same problem in L7. Don't matter which Login one tries, simply get kicked
  2. Now guess my nationality. Even my little ones were told in school (Elementary/Grundschule) they should feel guilty for it. Heck, this gotta stop! Yes, it's horrible what happened back then and yes it needs to be membered. But this is just overreacting! If I want to call my ship SS Neuengamme I will the heck do so! Even if some wise guys might interpret it as Nazi! Neuengamme was a concentration camp. There is a monument remembering this situated there. This monument is also surrended by family houses. Respectful and honored businesses and supermarkets. And Neuengamme is part of Hamburg. A part I lived in, so, don't dare anyone call Hamburgers Nazis! This whole thread seems to be brought up by a German, that simply feels offended, because of feeling guilty for something I assume he didn't do. I assume he wasn't even born back then. So much to collective guilt. My ass!
  3. The only way to handle it. Well, and then cuff'em, imprison'em and finally hang'em. That'll teach'em to mutiny
  4. An Admin of the company may get rid of him. Or you leave the company. Well, a company is group of people that voluntarily band together to play together. Honestly, I don't get the point. Anyways, I treat my crew as slaves. Command them, hand'em some rice and stop any mutiny by shooting some of them at times. Yes, PvE has friendly fire turned on. Ok, there will be a point when I wake up and am covered in pink cloth, but, heck, I'm gonna take it like a man
  5. Wouldn't it be nice if people would just get past what happened so many years before? I always hoped mankind has evolved and we no longer live in the past, but remember what happened, learned our lessons and move on. Well, I guess, in some cases like this cotton and assumed Nazi debate, all hope is lost.....
  6. Well, she doesn't even get on to the server. The connection is timed out every time. As far as I understand there a bunch that have this problem. I don't know why, cause I can connect using the same router. Well, SNAFU greets again....
  7. The main problem I see here is the nationality. I assume the Operator to be German. And in germany we usually tend to see the ghosts of the past - especially the Nazi ghosts - all around the corner and are taught we all owe a cumulative guilt to the world. A way of thinking that rather was revived from the middle ages than being modern. In no modern law and ethics, consiidered to be civilized, the guilt of the predecessors is passed down to their children, grand children and so on. Except for the Nazi era. I personally look at it as a part of history, that should have taught to keep an eye open and to not let it happen again. But overreacting and accusing someone of being something without knowing, if he really is what he's accused of, well, this sure the way! I admit one may suspect that due to the vessels name. But it still isn't hard proof. Every mentality ending on ism like Nazism, Islamism, Communism goes to extremes. But like one stated earlier SS Stalin wouldn't have raised that much interest. So, what is it we should learn about it? Pointing our fingers and shout "He is a Nazi"? I think not. What if this guy really isn't a Nazi? What if he just looked for a word and used SS as sailing vessel and Buchenwald as it's actual meaning - a forest? What if this guy never has heard about a concentration camp named Buchenwald? Assuming everybody knows about German history, especially in detail, well, do not take yourself toooo important. In my experience, the rest of the world really does not care that much as we do. Maybe he is a Nazi, maybe not. Maybe you feel offended, maybe not. The question remains, discrimination is the basis of all -isms. Right now who is discriminatiing whom? Ok, you got a screenshot, and reported and even pointed your virtual finger at him. You are morally embarrassed, ok, that's fine. If he is a Nazi, he will probably not belong to the educational elite. So what do you think he cares about your moral finger? Do you think just the name of a vessel, that may be interpreted as a concentration camp, but also the other way around will lead to a ban? Nope it won't. Not unless there is more indication than this. That's all I am saying. @Glombo glad you didn't call her SS Eva, could be interpreted as being a fan of the Third Reich. Btw, I gotta tell my daughter not to play with this 6 year old Nazi girl named Eva anymore. Guys, please, stop chasing GHOSTS. The world's spooky enough already.
  8. Nope, they were actual towns, the camps were named after. The villages still exist - at least their remains - and are still registered. I admit that they may not be inhabited anymore. but their origins out of these towns and villages. Even though not any German would move into a village called "Buchenwald" nowadays. Anyway, any more evidence of Nazism?
  9. Nazi stuff, and as stated, porven Nazis should be banned. But a vessels name, like explained earlier, is no hard evidence for Nazism!. Even Sailing Ship Ausschwitz is no hard evidence. Actually, your posts could be misread to an account of: "You live in Buchenwald and want to call your ship Sailing Ship Buchenwald, thean you are a NAZI! Leading to you are living in Dachau (another Concentration Camp) or Bergen-Belsen, well, then you are a Nazi. Oops, and the soldier of the second Armored Brigade (British) that were stationed, following this argumentation, would have been Nazis, too. I hope you see where some panicing and always referencing history in any casse, even though maybe not applicable, might lead to.
  10. Percieval, there is NO more Nazi Germany. Maybe, you could be so kind and take that into your consideration, thank you. So, my post stated a posibility and if you would have understood it, which you obviously did not, you should have read, that this whole discussion is actually and mainly you right now! - part of NAZISM. Discriminating and forcing ones opinion on a subject or group of persons on the whole community, let me think, when did that happen?
  11. Even though I do understand your thoughts on this and I do not tolerate any nazism, even though being called a Nazi just for being German quite a couple of times by some undereducated whoevers, the vessels name does not actually indicate a relation to nazism. You could interpret it the way you understood it, but it could also be a coincidence. First Buchenwald is not only a concentration camp, it is also a town. There is a tradition to name vessels after towns. Just like the frigate Bremen or the USS Dallas. SS does not have to be the abreviation for Schutzstaffel. SS is the international abreviation for Sailing Ship. Indicating, everyone using the abreviation SS in their vessels name, is a Nazi, would wipe almost the whole server. So, it could be a coincidence, or it is like you say a glorification. In any case, as long as this is the only possible sign of it and no pattern is shown, like more ship names of that company, or the swastika in black on the white ground framed red, or their character names directly relating to actual person of the third reich, it would be discriminating to take action against those players. I guess, you know, that Nazism is all about discrimination - or at least a main part of it is - so accusing one of being a Nazi without any hard evidence, like stated I do understand what you mean, but it also could be a coincidence, that is not related to this, and just one ship's name that could be linked to it, should not be considered hard evidence, could also lead to discrimination and Nazism. But, I totally agree, if those guys are real Nazis, they should be banned directly. With no mercy!
  12. Well, at least Battleye prevents players from joining the EU PvE Server Siren's Call. I was able to get in, my wife doesn't. Battleye is kicking her for timeout reasons. So, if you are asking, if Battleye will solve griefing, it most likely rather brought up new problems, that surely need to be resolved quite fast. The supposed work around, DOES NOT work.
  13. The 'S' key didn't work. At least not with a crewed vessel. There actuallly was a storm, that brought us deeper into it. The vessel started turning and the aft got caught by a bank. About slow backing: The slower the better. Those ships weren't built with having a fast reverse speed in mind. And you simply need it for maneuvering. There have to be more option implemented. Like a friend of mine stated: They probably just designed some ships, got a water shader and the core water physics and threw it into the game without getting any advice, if this could lead to some undesired situations.
  14. Great when it works, but usually you rather need to pull than push. This mechanic actually needs to be implemented. We just got it out. Don't ask me how, I have absolutely no explain how this worked, ecept, either we bug us through there or the ship gets destroyed. Guess, bugging through worked, this time. Those Boathooks are still used today. And yes they still work. Btw, who said a sloop, no matter if Bermuda, Kutter or Yacht, had such an anchor? And that astern? Just came to mind......
  15. Ever found yourself in a stuck situation? You anchored in a bay, enough water beneath your keel and when you wanted to leave, your vessel stopped turning? Well, that happened, to us. There is enough depth, but the game considers the opposite. In such cases one would simply back up a little with turning all sails full against the wind.... Oops, wait, there was this update that stated sailing against the wind is adequate to 30% forward propulsion. Ok, it's a game and not everybody enjoys sailing or understands to cross the winds. BUT, dear Grapeshot, did you forget your map design while coming to this decision? Did you forget, that not any other mechanic is not implemented that might help with this. Why, does the cargo load not effect the displacement? Why can't we ballast to gain less displacement? Why can't we attach a Dinghy to pull the Vessel a little? Where is this NPC that calls out the depth - preferedly in fathoms? Where is the true indication of windspeed? Yes, there is some swell. Yes, it might indicate the strength, but it's not reflecting it's true speed. So, where is the logging? Honestly guys, just putting in some vessels - which by the way are classified wrong - and not giving us the methods to use them, like they are supposed to be used, is not really frustrating, it's more like you, Grapeshot, didn't think the whole thing through. Ok, one could say, one ought to take better care, true, but how to take better care when the whole server lags every time you get close to an island, any island? Claims on land like there is no tomorrow, claims at sea - "Yes, this Tuna belongs to me, it's my personnel property and I will tax it with 30%" - and thos are no shelve waters. It's more like Atlantic Depth suddenly meets the Watt of the North Sea. Nope, it might be inspired by the Caribbean or even Mediterranean, but it sure ain't like that. So, how do I get my "Brigantine" out of that situation? Any suggestions, except build a new one.
