  1. Yeah, when Atlas first launched there were too many people and too few freeports, that is why the expanded them and made more of them. If you have only been playing since after the horrid blackfriday k mart rush at the very beginning... ya would not know that, maybe. lol. I agree as well, one or two larger islands on a freeport grid with ports on opposite sides of an island would be nice that way, when the introduce more AI population there will be room to spread them out and make it feel like a town in the area? psst, and cough, get rid of HEAT wave in the freeport grids too I think MOST players who have ever logged into Atlas has died within the first hour from heatstroke and many don't even know what killed them since they don't know about it... heh.

Looking forward to the new season as well might even give official half a try "just to see what new people will be seeing" hope it don't make me ill looks like very good chance they wont be wiping again lets hope they can juggle that, if not.. same feel as am today... will just be a "new season" with improvements to start out with over the last. lol.
  3. That is IF the original server/island was the same some where else on the map, if not.. nope they just be without the island, let alone the base. heh

Ok, so they don't wipe, current players are happy until they do wipe, what they are going to have to do at least a couple times before it is a finished game (last being when it is released as such). But, if they are going to overhaul the skill system (possible if not probable character wipe) , if they go with a new map (not just a few islands placed down but, the entire map moved around, what if they decide to change up the build system and placements and the old ones wouldn't match up or work with it? another wipe.. or several things they may be changing or adding to the game between now and when it is a finished product.. Is everyone going to fight and stomp feet every single time? As far as you that have been breeding for months for the "perfect tame" welp, if they change out the beasts/taming/levels out there, guess what.. those tames might become obsolete and useless. What then for you? sigh.
  5. Yeah, they just combined it with the Blackwood stuff, pretty much. I wasn't expecting anything new from it, personally, just there for the date because after that date is when the game starts getting its new work put into it. couple of the other games people were hating on are actually fun games.. just more artsy than realistic.. but fun "Games" ...

Same chat was yelling that all indie games and anything with less than top of the line realistic graphics sucked and anything but, showing game play was boring and they kept crying for Batman, what they didn't get. I am glad I didn't have my pass to talk in that chat.. wanted to tell them all to stfu, some of us like what we are seeing and could care less about batman junk

A poster over on the Steam forums suggested moving the SOTD to the powerstone grids, only (makes sense to me because, they are a part of the lore/history of Atlas, same as the other stuff on the powerstone islands) and replacing them in the normal grids with current ships one would see out in the waters. Your pirates/navy/merchants and the like.

    They said that we would not see changes until after they launch crossplay and they haven't launched it yet so, why do you think you should be seeing what they already said you would not be seeing just three weeks later? hehe
  9. Not sure if they are allowed to put a micro transaction into EA? Are they? The game is far from a finished one. But, yeah, you got a point, if they simply want to be a Money Grab, add tons of micro transactions in your game, that is the easiest way to money grab people in any game. IMO.
  10. I am sooo tired of reading or seeing topics about wipe or no wipe Hey DEVS! Wipe it at least TEN times before you rel to crossplay.. TY! make it 10 full wipes and as well Character wipes every other day, until then!.. srsly.. makes lil difference in the long run
  11. Yeah, before I figured out T.. I got pulled off by one, swam over and punched it.. swam back to my ship and got back on it only to set off another mermaid where they ship stopped soo grappled myself to the mast and quickly opened the sail to full and grappled again and waited for the buff to go away as my ship sailed slowly out of the ring. I didn't complain, I was excited that I figured out how to get away

If they re vamp the skills system to a progressive one that, you learn how to aim a gun better by, using a gun.. or sword perks open up as you use the sword.. want to be a great cook? start cooking tons of food. You want to be a master Captain, you better be prepared for many hours at the helm then! That alone will add hours of content that is player preference to what they like to achieve in a game. Cyclones, I LIKE THEM.. get rid of them? heh, I would like to see MORE obstacles on the ocean, not less.. HOWEVER, it would be nice to get some rewards for them along with the punishment for sailing trough them. Once they get the game stable, maybe try an EU/EA combined I know many players who play cross time zone already as it is.. but, I don't like the sound of pvp/pve .. too much exploits waiting to happen. heh. I like the idea of merchant/npc ships that you can sink or board and plunder but, I think they should add "navy spawned ship" that will spawn on a timer that goes off as soon as you do Maybe, the better your piracy skills are, the longer it takes for it to spawn in on you? hrmm, Navy ships out on the waters that will ignore you unless, you attack them or a merchant? Assist you if attacking Pirate or sotd? idk.. soo many things that they could do in the end lol.
  13. Make it at least 3 factions, and I am good. So you will have. popular, popular and those that don't like to conform to a popular faction lol
  14. Navy vs Pirate vs Pirate vs Pirate? There can only be 1 pirate king :P since it is a new thing for them to be even thinking about, there are soo many ways they could implement thing.. A few Pirate groups, Navy vs pirate, Navy Pirate merchant and depending on how far they go with the Atlas lore by the end I could see even a racial faction. Atlas in in an era that would equal "Golden Age of Pirates" for earth standards but, it is a world with its own history and in its timeline it was way more advanced then it is now. (unless they scrap the powerstone stuff all together and make it just a flat pirate game using earths history for all of its content of course. (both ways as long as it fully shows one pather or the other, would be immersive, imo.)
  15. I like sailing my ship into combat, even solo with an ai crew when going out sotd hunting or whale hunting. Even the first time when I was clumsy at the Ai controls and kept messing up, it and couldn't remember what key did what lol, was still fun but, had to "run away" a lot till I got good at it. My favorite sotd fight, was during a waterspout storm, weaving in between the spouts to keep my fire focused on a ship. Very exciting!
  16. I read earlier someone say something about not wiping to keep 1k currents, happy.. then went on to next month it will be down to 500 and so on.. At first I auto took it as a sarcastic take on thing but, after a bit I remembered that.. Its a game, people will come and go even if its a "perfect game". Please don't be selfish by demanding or try and forcing them to not wipe due to your current gameplay... They would like the game to be around for a very long time and unlike you, can't chose to come and go monthly from the game Less, like some, they quit their jobs.. I guess.. hrmm.. Do you as a player intend to be still playing a game 5 years later? If you, as a plyer are still playing when the next wipe comes up during the games development, going to have a panic attack again, at that time and demand things? If so.. then you are just being selfish with lil thoughts to your own future, let alone the games. Let it go, let it go... lol and they may not even wipe this time but, they will have to at least 2 times before the game is a finished one

Don't have to - Unless they are opening with the new map layout, of course for the crossplay or if they have to change anything to the core game to make sure that when they do open it up, it runs smoothly.. err.... I am 100% for a map wipe and a character wipe, in this case. They are going to have to do it again later if they decide to re-vamp the skill system.
  18. I honestly do not see a problem with wiping game data during its development.. Unlike the typical game where you have a start and a finish.. (a natural place to wipe your gameplay and start fresh or move on to the next game) Atlas, with its sandbox flare, does not, so people could just keep playing for years with the same ol same ol and really mess up the entire place Since I am not against a regular wipe every so often.. I have NO qualms in a wipe for an important, game development one. lol.
  19. hrm, well since they do change the wood pieces when applied to ships, I can see them doing the same for lanterns, mmm

"realism" IMO, the game could have fully unrealistic stuff to it, we could be joining as a race of pirate cats and rats with an Elephant Navy chasing us around on the seas while we do our pirate do and the game could be a great pirate game.. long as we had the right game platform, props, interactions and direction to do it in. That being said. I would like a basic, bowspirit that we can craft as well. maybe ONLY the basic one and if you want a fancy one, then you go out and drop the 400g? Be sure you are adding dye to your lanterns it helps a lot with light and design, rather you want natural looking warm or cold light, or something crazy.

  22. Yeah, I have yet to lose a ship to anything odd, only when battling stuff on purpose and failing my repairs.
  23. The reason Atlas has soo many freaking freeport zones is because when they launched, having only two was a mess of congestion. Now that players can choose to start where ever, think they can do with less freeport, yes? I do agree with resource rich zones that are full NO BUILD ones or at least islands if not entire grids, those would be Pvp hot spots and be areas everyone would want to go to get stuff, they could even add more content like, static npc villages and goodies that no one could block off if there is no build, but, would maybe want to not go in solo because, could have pvp campers waiting for you To further that, maybe "capture the island grids" where you have control over a resource rich island via ship presence and while you have control over that island anything farmed from it gives bonus to your bank. Hot spots around the island (out in the water) needs to be held to achieve this.. just an idea. If someone is holding it, they wouldn't mind people farming from the island, they would only mind other ships contesting the hot spot?

  25. npc on swivels, dont need to aim and dont miss.. the moment something comes into range BAM, dead. (top deck ones can one shot ai on other ships or players boarding a ship, often, that way) I think this is an example of what the devs meant by changing the way AI work and the "missing" bit? I would actually like an setting on the wheel for them to Only attack wildlife that is attacking you/yourbuild/tames.. like the beasts have the settings to passive, aggressive and -> neutral . right now, npc on weapons only are passive or aggressive. unless I am missing something here attack my target would be interesting too. heh
