  1. All I can say is so what? There are so few players in Atlas now it's effectively a single player game as it is - 4,800 players on at peak time on Sunday is a joke. I made a new character about 5 weeks ago** and I've sailed to maybe 9 zones (looking for Salt, dammit) and visited about 13 islands and because there are so few players I've seen nobody else whatsoever. A few buildings, a couple of anchored ships but no people at all. The difference between single-player and "multi-player" (I use the term loosely) would be indistinguishable to me. At least on single-player I can use mods to add some MUCH needed content and variety. **EDIT: I confess I don't play a lot, maybe a couple of hours every couple of days, but I doubt that playing more would increase my chances of seeing anyone at this stage in the game's life... or rather death.
  2. Ark had single-player from the outset and as I type this it has 57k players online. Single player has never held Ark back and there's no reason it will hold Atlas back. It hasn't stopped Ark's development in any way, shape or form, either.
  3. Ah, there's this brand new feature going to be introduced, called a "screenshot". I think it will revolutionise online gaming forever.
  4. If that happens I look right at the top of the ladder and then press E to climb. Works pretty well. It was getting so buggy I was slapping a wooden ladder on the back of the ship to avoid being trapped on land. Must remember a grappling hook though!
  5. I have the same trouble. One odd thing is that if I try and place a pillar, to see where I can build, the pillar placement indicator turns blue and then orange as the waves go in and out. The shore drops off steeply to a vast depth, so possibly it is that which is causing the placement problem, but still it's an odd thing to happen.
  6. Well that happened because you're inept, and is not the fault of the game.
  7. I can tame things fine, but it's a really inelegant, clumsy system. I much prefer tranqs as in Ark or the Hook Arrows in Dark and Light.
  8. I wouldn't play on an Official server if I was paid to do so. The game has some problems I admit, but that doesn't stop me playing. The main reason Official feels empty is that the game attracts too many asshats who just like to spend their time griefing people. On Unofficial they get kicked out, and the game is all the better for it.
  9. YOU do something. Your PC can't show the character set, that's all. They're doing nothing wrong.
  10. You need to copy some files over from your main PC to use the same character. Don't make a new one.
  11. I'm expecting wholesale slaughter in the Crypt as the Night King works his mojo on a couple of thousand years-worth of Stark dead. They keep saying "it'll be safe in the Crypt" FAR too many times. The most pitifully uninventive insult every failed forum warrior resorts to. Kidults these days have no imagination whatsoever.
  12. The Torpedosaurus keeps a very low profile.
  13. I didn't care it was a pirate-themed game either. Ark with a twist is fine with me because Ark is fine with me as well. The drama between people saying what Atlas is in their opinion is mildly interesting at best to me. To them, it's all they have to live for apparently.
  14. Shhh, you'll frighten the rubes!
  15. Maybe you've never noticed the globe on the loading screen. Does that look like Earth to you? I admire YOUR imagination accepting characters casually rising from the dead and being able to teleport huge distances from one island to another. I bet 17th Century Earth pirates did that routinely...
  16. Er, yes they do. Check the Wiki, then maybe go away and find the historical pirate simulation you are looking for. This isn't it.
  17. The game is not set on Earth, so these are not conventional pirates. What lore I have seen refers to an advanced civilization that lost a lot of technology, but which is slowly going to recover it. From the Atlas Wiki: "Long-ago, far above the watery world of ATLAS there once existed a magic-powered “Golden Age”-- where great Empires of the Sky lived at peace alongside magical creatures, flourishing upon floating continents above the clouds, all powered by a magical source of energy known as the Heart of the Goddess, granted by the powerful beings who dwell in the stars beyond...." and the final bit... "If the latest generation of Pathfinders can outwit and outgun Xevos and his legions, and recover the Heart pieces for themselves, they will be faced with the very same choice: whether to attempt to restore the old world, or build a new better one…" So, you have two choices - learn to like it or change games, essentially.
  18. Fast travel will fix that random crafting bug.
  19. Yes, you can play on different servers. I play on 3 different servers atm.
  20. Sometimes the ship ladder is ridiculous to use. There are times it works first time, every time, then there's an interlude where it just can't be grabbed, or if you do grab it it will instantly dump you in the water again. This goes on even after logging out and back in, and you just have to wait 10 minutes until it somehow fixes itself. It's really, really annoying when you can't get on your own ship.
