  1. All this post really proves is that the game is only going to be fun for those who are willing to slave in a Mega. This company is obviously a Mega. If you want to have fun in this game with anything less than a Mega, you will need to move to an unofficial. But those aren't perfect either. You will have to play on a lot of them, to find one that is right for you.
  2. I think the trade ships are those paddlewheelers that move in a convoy and never stop, requiring you to have somebody on your ship to keep it alongside that ship, while you grapple hook over to it. I seriously hope this is just a place holder mechanism. It truly stinks.
  3. Would love to see you do this with a Galleon. Maybe make it red this time.
  4. because this is based on ARK, and thus brings with it a player base that knows nothing but pure PvE disguised as PvP...that being offline raiding, with nothing to truly prevent it.
  5. And they should not include animals, or people who are NOT in your company, as both this and weight, can be griefed by those not in your company...even your Allies, if they decide to get up to no good.
  6. The Devs want it to be a PvP game with piracy and lot's of trading and commerce. They do not want it to be ARK. The problem is that right now, it has too much ARK in it. This is why people complain that it is a reskin of ARK. If they wanted ARK with Pirates, they wouldn't complain about it being ARK with Pirates. That is why I made that thread, which has now been moved to the suggestions forum, as to why they have to put throttles on PvP...not eliminate PvP...just direct it in a manner that promotes the trade and mercantilism they say they want for the game.
  7. I am assuming that those towns with the ambient crowd noise, will at some point in the future, offer a way to buy a building to act as a store front. You will deposit what you have to sell, and other people will be able to view those goods, and purchase what they can carry. Hopefully, the system will only allow you to purchase what you can carry. Lag will sometimes make things go awry when performing some functions. I can see it lagging, and you purchase 5 heavy items, when you can only carry 3...like heavy cannons. Limiting the purchase to what you can carry would prevent that.
  8. The problem is that many things were not well thought out. It's why this game is better described as an Alpha, and not Early Access. I am tired of the term Early Access, because they want it to be too broad. They know many people will not buy access to an Alpha, so they call it Early Access because they know that the majority of gamers think that Early Access is more like a Beta, not an Alpha. Then they act surprised when the hate rises to epic levels over things like, not having a single mechanism to prevent your ship from being sunk while you sleep.
  9. Don't join a company with just one Admin, or where the only Admins are a Husband-Wife duo, or something similar, like 2 brothers, two real life friends, etc...
  10. I would like to see the Devs make a statement concerning these locations. Are they like ruins on ARK where you can build on them? Presently, you can, but my mind is convinced that these locations are not finished. I am under the impression that these locations will become NPC marketplaces, thus not allowing you to build there, and if you have, a future update will just make your stuff go bye-bye. So I chose not to build there, but I have seen some people put extensive work into building in such places. For instance: So the question is simple. What are the plans for these areas, and how much control of these areas, will players be allowed to have? Will you be able to keep buildings like this there, and thus use them as a base, blocking the area for others? Will you not be able to build there, buy place a land claim to tax trade with NPC's Will there even be NPC vendors? Settling these questions with honest answers would be a good thing, even if the answer is, "We are not sure yet," accompanied by a statement on what they would like to do, but are not sure of the feasibility. I guess it is the ambient crowd noise that leads me to believe that the area is unfinished, and meant to be visited by many players...likely...to visit NPC vendors.
  11. Not sure I like the idea of Pirate friendly areas, as that gives cover to the griefers when the idea is to make life harder on them. I do like the idea of the insurance being paid in gold, so that you buy the items from a vendor. And, I am assuming that these towns with the ambient crowd noise, will end up being no-build zones, with NPC vendors in them, like the Freeports. Thus you will not need to return to Freeports to buy everything.
  12. A raft shouldn't be destroyed from hitting the shore. It shouldn't even take any damage. Same with a Dingy. That is simply something they need to change on rafts. Ships, of course should take damage.
  13. Until the first Alpha shows up, in which case, you can kiss your tame goodbye.
  14. Melee is not a good way to kill animals. You do too little damage, and take too much damage in the process. There is no balance in this. Even metal armor offers almost no protection. In metal, 3 or 4 hits by a normal wolf and you are almost dead. The Alphas are stupid. You don't even want to take tames out. Even an Alpha Pig is death to your tames if you do something to make it mad. Tonight, one of our guys had 3 bears with him, one he was riding. There were 5 pigs, and something attacked his bears, and the Alpha pig ended up getting hit also. Killed two of the bears before we could get the Alpha Pig to aggro to us and not the remaining bear, while he got away with that bear. It just feels pointless to spend so much time trying to get tames when they are killed so easily. Horses are useless. Too vulnerable.
  15. Make the bounty take years off the life of the person killed. This means you are going back to lvl 1 that much sooner. Also, make the pay end up coming from the person killed. Or at least half of it, if he is successfully killed. If it takes years off, I think there would have to be a substantial cool down on when another bounty could be placed on that person.
  16. I made suggestions that will help fix the game. Yes it has huge problems. Let's make the devs aware of what we want from the game.
  17. I agree. I have always hated the vault into the air, to exit the water, even in ARK. Is really poor quality for a AAA game. Not bad for Alpha ARK, but should have been fixed by now.
  18. Well, so long as you actually leave the freeport, for an extended period, I don't think it would be a problem. I am sure they can get this tweaked. I just don't like the idea of having to avoid the freeport to keep your ship from taking damage, when you are going there to search for treasure, or buy something, or pick up a friend, etc... They could also just make it such that you only get 3 free hours free per day, and once you exceed that, you start taking damage. This prevents people from using it as a free place to homeport.
  19. I seriously hope they rethink this whole taming system. I can't describe how much I hate this whole system...shooting many arrows into an animal, as if that will actually tame something. They should use a modified version of the ARK baby imprinting system. Tranq or trap an animal in a cage, and take back to base, and then over time, you feed it, or crack a whip at it, based on whether it is being nice, or nasty, and each time you do this correctly, it imprints a percentage. After a while, it is nearly tamed, and wants a hug, or to go for a walk, and then is finished taming. Would seem far more realistic, and more immersive.
  20. It is if you have no ship left, or do not know where the wreck is. This is why I stated that it would be more likely for the people that sunk you, to dive the wreck and take everything of value.
  21. They need to make that decay on a delay timer. If you visit a freeport to buy something, or pick up a new recruit, etc., your ship shouldn't be decaying...at all. Only if you leave it there for an extended period, and there should be information for players that make them aware of that decay, and when it will start. LIke a little countdown timer in the corner.
  22. And if you read things that I post, you will understand that I do not want ships that sink easily. I am making the point to people who say that you will lose a lot of ships, that the only way to lose a lost of ships, is to build a lot of ships. If the ships are going to sink easily, if that is what the Devs want, they need to make them as cheap to build as a wood base. If they do not want them to be cheap to build, then they need to make them harder to sink. Simple as that. The easier a ship is to sink, the cheaper it MUST be to build. It's common sense that these two things must be in balance. Otherwise the seas will be empty.
  23. And once again, for ships to be sunk, they have to be built. The cost to build a ship needs to equal the likelihood that it will be sunk. If not, players will bet frustrated, and quit. Many already did, when they did the grind, only to lose their ships very quickly to the SotD so easily. If that was a soft wipe, which many think it was, it was a colossal mistake. Saying it wasn't won't change anything...the damage is already done. This is not a single player game, so single player game style progression does not work, at all. People aren't going to build a sloop first, just because they haven't built a ship yet. There has to be a reason to build a smaller ship. This is something that I never understand...why devs don't understand that gamers will not use something they create, unless there is a benefit to doing so. Like, I played many FPS games, and while there were many weapon choices, eventually everyone was using just two weapons. Why? Because testing by many players determined that the other weapons were inferior to those two. Gamers use what works best. Why on Earth would somebody use a tiny ship with one or two cannons, and a small weight capacity, when they can use a large ship with hella firepower, and 4 times the weight capacity? If you make a game, you have to understand this simple concept...gamers use what works best. Period. With a crew of NPCs, the Galleon is going to be better for you than a sloop....bottom line.
