  1. Oh! ok. not played it myself. So not a great example for whoever brought it up if fast travel and on foot isn't much of a difference.
  2. I bet those bored college kids used fast travel to search the server for offline people. You want that in atlas too?
  3. I'm not 100% sure but I think grapling flotsam gives your ship XP, My schooner has leveled up a couple times as I land the flotsam. Now NPC's with accordians is a thing and a catwalk iether side of the ship so I can almost just drop the grapple onto the flotsam I'm getting a lot more, I still need to see if it's not just coinsidance.
  4. Yup, very common way to get around game mechanics is to use alt crafters. I've done it myself before.
  5. To top tier ride, including commands 3, natures cry & touch 3 feats, you need taming 1&2, Advanced taming 1&2 and Breeding 1,2&3. Thats a lot of taming and breeding knowledge to be good in the saddle. Of course if they seperated them as they should, they would also need to redo the skill points so people wouldn't just be able to get every combat, riding, sailing and survival skill if they took no practical skills.
  6. If you'd just started this post with "Atlas is too much like Ark for my taste", you could have avoided 4 pages of asset re-use arguments which you've now said you don't have a problem with. I agree, Atlas is very much like Ark. I also bought this game on the assumption of Ark with pirates, so was not was not dissapointed when I got Ark with pirates.
  7. Yes, it's a fresh character, no items, no company. Hope you didn't hit that delete character button they conveniently placed next to the respawn character button.

Chuck them, they are useless, along with the carrage and the cargo saddle BP's. there are a few others you can just chuck away too, scissors and a few others, you'll get to know all soon enough when you do maps. They have been there since the start, just one of those stupid things you need to just accept with this game.

  10. While it's good to know not just where things are, but where good quantities are, this topic was started before the last wipe and a lot of locations are different. (my entry above for example, it's now a freeport) You would be best served starting a new topic for this.
  11. You got it the wrong way round, blaming the people that just want to play the PVE game. Don't you think your ire would be better placed with the people doing the greifing as they are the ones on a PVE server acting against other players? You have one thing right though, splitting the game into so many types, Official, Blackwood, Single Player, and unofficial and PVP and PVE in each of these. How the hell are they meant to fix the bugs on all of these and hope to move forward with development.

  13. They "just don't reply"! , that there is the problem, no-one has any idea if thier bug reports, sugestions or even general chat has been seen? How many times are you willing to post suggestions or bug reports without even the barest acknowledgement that there is someone on the other end seeing it. And by no means do i mean every report, if just one in twenty had something like "nice idea" or "on our list, but not urgent" the impression that we are just pissing into the wind would go away. I could have posted multiple small bug reports and dozens of suggestions but if they can't be bothered, neither will I.
  14. With less that a dozen dev replies to posts in the last month and just one in the past 2 weeks it's no wonder anyone that comes to these forums feels the way you do. Personaly, while I like and still play the game, I've given up all hope on these developers and they have lost any respect I would normaly afford people I don't know. I don't think I could even communicate politely with them anymore. But all is not lost, if you happen to be on discord, in the right channel and on at precisely the right 15 minutes you too can converse with a dev.
  15. Yup, half my base is now too close to an enemy structure or gate so can't place anything in the water. The underwater placement range is huge, and I think recently increased (although I can find no patch notes to verify). Apparently People were PvPing in non-shoot you in the head with aimbot ways, so they cracked down on it and as as always ruined it for everyone else.
  16. That a good idea, but a silo!. even as it is I always imagine the crews digging around in the loose berries trying to find the gold thats sunk to the bottom. More realisticaly you'd want a bursar item, a bloke sat at a desk with sacks of berries one side and a chest of gold the other. And for your idea: A workshop like structure.
  17. You get so used to some bugs, it's actualy surprising to see a bug report about them. Good on you, for bring this one back to the fore.
  18. Yup, they have introduced a dissconnection between weather, sea animation & ship animation. This weekend I've sailed: In rain storms with calm seas and low windspeed. On calm waters with the ship bobing and swaying as if in rough waters. And in one region the ship actualy sailed as if it was on the water it looked to be on. It wouldn't be so bad but for the eye wrenching screen bob when the ship gets too far from the visible water line and snaps back and forth for a second or two. This crap is new to me, no idea when or how it started.

  21. Easy enough to sort out if you're playing with permisions, give permisions on what permisions each rank can allow. Greying out the permisions per rank, with whatever the owner desides. No mind reading required, just a bit of company admin.
  22. larders have the same spoil bonus as feeding troughs that feed you tames, and crew will be fed from a silo before a larder, it is also nicer visualy to have in a cookhouse. Not using a trough and using silo, leaves the larder redundant as a feeding device, making it ideal for bulk storage of crops. Using the silo as berry storage is great for the spoil timer, just watch out for which berries your crew eats! don't want them munching your blackberries when you have many thousands of schisandra in the next stack.
  23. I play at a slow pace, so the content as it is will last me many months. The concept as you say is great, and the visuals are beautiful. But I've lost all faith in the development team, i don't care about missed deadlines, issues they've not figured out yet, they say they listen to people, read the forums but without any indication that they do so, it leaves me feeling that any comment, suggestion, or bug report is just pissing into the wind. When I find a map thats 1/2 behind a cliff and the AotD get stuck, When I see the skin of a mountain ending 10ft above the sea and you can swim under and see the inside, When i find a hole in the mesh you or your mount can fall through, Do I report it? I used to, and I know it would help the game if I did, but I can't be arsed to talk to a dev team that refuse to talk back. If something effects me directly I will still try ( see my latest bug report ), but it was closed within 2 hours without comment. No surprise there. I now post on the forums to talk to you guys, the players, with little expectation that anyone at grapeshot will see it and no expectation of any communication from them.

I have looked around but found nothing that would block it, and we can build on land just fine. We would like to at some time to upgrade our shipyards and pretty up the dock area but that seems impossible now we can no longer build here. I am at a loss as to how anyone could build a structure that blocks us building in the centre of our base, surely our structures already being here would block anyone from doing so. The island owners have been helpful and removed a small hut about 40-50 floor lengths away along the beach but that has not helped, I am out of ideas so i'm asking you. Thanks in advance. This is our neighbours base. Island owners hut, a fair ways off down the beach. Me trying to place a pillar roughly in the middle of our base, surrounded by foundations and pillars we placed ages ago. The fact I am surrounded by my own structures which by dint of being there should preclude anyone from placing anything within range that might now block me from placing this pillar. I can't find any structures close by only those shown above. But I can place this pillar on land just outside the base. But inches away, in the water I cannot.
  25. there is always a risk of ass-holes, no need to scrap every idea because of them, just don't leave it open for abuse.
