  1. uninstall and reinstall, thats a steam bug.
  2. i feel the best way to Explain why they need their own server, is that they are FAR too competitive for any fun to be had when they exist... They ruin games, for us common folk. (that, and the cheating, which is another off shoot of the competitiveness.)
  3. i am not entirely sure how it works, however you can "hire" them at the freeports for 5 gold each, and they cost something like 1 gold an hour, or they will mutiney. supposedly, once you have them set to your sails, you can control everything somehow from the "captains seat".
  4. yeah, they look terribad, and nothing was ever done about this issue in Ark even. You can increase their cost all you want, but people sill still do it, due to coverage area/vs overall time.
  5. agreed, the entire claiming system is really badly implemented at this time. I do hope they are currently thinking of ways to improve upon it, or seriously looking at some of the other suggestions for how it should work.
  6. you can repeatedly use the skill, nothing is free.
  7. ohh, you can hire npc pirates to do that stuff for you, if you are looking for a "true" method to solo, i thought you meant you couldn't do it at all. spawn in some pirates to man the sails, as admin.
  8. pretty sure you just have to run from sails to steering to use the sloop, one of my friends said he was able to pilot the larger ships just fine solo. This is hear say, so don''t take it as gospel
  9. definitely like the drawings, helps to quickly understand your point, in a clearer manner.
  10. Yeah, this was more or less a suggestion post, in the form of a question. Im hoping to get a clearer idea as to what they meant when they are comparing their game to Eve online. as though, i agree with you, it was toxic in its own way, when i played it wasn't nearly as bad as they say it was, though the largest group i joined had 200 or so members. i would like the claim mechanics to get tweaked, quite a bit, i feel that contesting them takes Far too little time, for the size and scope of the game, however i believe the number of claims should be reduced from infinite to 1, with maybe a max of 4 if you spec into a specific skill tree. having corporations have some sort of claim pooling mechanic, for using the claims given by their members, or simply its own skill tree for advancing diplomacy/business related things, such as claiming. it would be nice, if based on the sheer scope of the game, they don't simply believe, that if they make it like Ark, it will do well, as the game will be in an even smaller niche than it already is. Red VS Blue, will be a rampant meme, as i believe in its current state, it will devolve into having two major factions that matter at end game. :-0
  11. Eve online had things like pvp (nullsec)/pve(highsec) zones, pvp zones, Concord to police highsec, pos's with invulnerability timers, etc. how is this game going to handle truly MMO scale PVP? im not suggesting PVE servers be merged, im just saying, even the MMO balancing for Raiding/war in Eve online, were well thought out. to be honest the games warring mechanic is a masterpiece. So in what aspects did the Dev's feel the game was "like eve" beyond simply being an MMO? what balancing mechanics, for zerge rushes are there going to be? i love the idea of the game, and will continue bug reporting, and checking into things that seem odd and making suggestions. Though i am honestly curious, as im super amped, if this gets some of its balancing idea's from Eve Online by final Release.
  12. I agree, having a game where the major element is boats, but having no way to get them unstuck is kind of rediculous.
  13. With Eco's food system, you could eat anything you wanted, however, if you ate right, you get an exp buff or something. that was a great system, and mirrored life pretty well. Requiring veggies and such, to stave off disease after a few weeks? that makes plenty of sense... but needing as much food as we do now, makes little to no sense, and feels like its just a punishment with no reward in sight.
