Eve online has ship insurance system. Something like this would be cool.

Each "server" should fit 40k players, why would they open more?

Questions about Renting a Server

Learn to make custom maps, then rent a server. That way you can decide how many grids you want/need. -
More skill points ?

What's the file path to the game.ini? -
This is why a single player mode like Ark has needs to be added.

Why is the majority of the atlas community so damn toxic.
Lynx replied to Thund3r 4's topic in General Discussion
It's because they are just role playing pirates. -
GrapeShot/WildCard needs a common sense Manager!

Isn't this why we are here discussing the game and making suggestions? -

Agreed. -
Sorry not very understanding of networking. Are you saying use 2 routers? Or a special mode on just 1 router?
-
Did you expect the map image from the map tool?
-
Yeah definitely tweak all the major stuff. Then wipe.
-
Early Access probably should have scheduled server wipes for major changes.

Claims, 1 per person with skills for more
Lynx replied to Trithian's topic in Feedback and Suggestions
So basically make land claim a skill tree and a choice of class. All pathfinder get 1 claim. And -insert class name- can spend skill points to extend claims? Maybe upgrade claims and things like that. -

Anyone figure this out? Or a workaround for more levels? -
Why not just have multiple instanced versions of each Freeport to facilitate more starting players?
-
I am relatively sure it's impossible for me to host a private LAN server, since I use a mobile hotspot for internet.
-
I think just throwing more server out there isn't the best answer. But not at least having Asia and Oceanic servers to start was just thoughtless to customers from those regions. The Devs need to balance content. Make it so 40k players can successfully co-exist in the same world. Either in a state of war (PvP) and whatever the hell PvE is supposed to be.
-
The Devs just need to make the server software have a gui, and easy to operate setup and allow LAN only servers for single player mode.
-
Can the MultiHome be identical to SeamlessIP?
-
The problem for me boiled down to my isp. I use a hotspot. So the current networking setup for Atlas servers will not work for me. Hopefully in the future this gets changed. Thanks to everyone who helped me out.

It seems when I start the server it kills my internet. Still have my router page up and it shows not connected to internet.
-
I did the port forwarding on my router to single ports, since I am just testing a 1x1 grid. I tried both my LAN IP and my external IP (placed in both the map editor to create the .jsons and the server launch .bat file) The server appears to start in the command prompt, but I never see it in the server list in game.
-
So how do you connect? And what exactly does this mean?

Ark is listed as an MMO on Steam in the devs assigned tags. It has single player mode. Also, how will mod authors and server owners test mods. I think the devs are really limiting the game by not including single player mode. Or an easier local server hosting method.
