  1. This was predictable, why are people surprised?
  2. For pirates to exist there also needs to be navy or law enforcement, merchants and traders, and probably slaves (historically speaking).
  3. I would change this to the hardcore "official PvP" Ark fan base. I love Ark. Not for the terrible official servers and joke of a support system. But for the awesome modding community. Ark can be whatever you want. This is exactly the opposite of what Atlas needs to be a successful MMO.
  4. If the devs wanted this to be mega factions. Then why didn't they just add factions as part of the gameplay. A tri-faction system has been popular in PVP Mmos, like Eve online. The Devs could have done something unique here, but no they didn't. Just pirate flavored Ark, heavy on the grind and hold the fun.
  5. The Devs should have taken a page from the Eve online book and made players and ships non persistent. Have ship insurance as a gold sink. Encourage an economy with MMO trade systems. Discourage huge laggy bases and zoos of tames with Limits. And tames should have something like a PixBlock/pokeball/cryoball.
  6. Both the map (all the server grids) and the player limit per map is well publicized. You can download the map tool from github with the official map. Look on battlemetrics site for the individual grid limits. I never did figure out how 15x15 map grids x 150 players/ grid = 33750 .... rounds UP to 40k.
  7. Why buy the game, when you can save your money and just watch streamers play? /cynicism also
  8. You forgot 1 server is really 225 servers. Each with a max number of players per grid.
  9. I think this could breathe new life into the game. And get returning players. Especially with the modding community cranking out new mods. The Devs could add a best SINGLE player mod category to their first mod contest. If the devs truly do a land claim revamp, without a wipe there will not be a good way to know if the new system truly works.
  10. Not wiping the servers will lead to a slowly degrading players base with NO influx of new and returning players. Plus EA wipes help reinforce the idea of a wipe for launch. Who would want to buy a $60 game with no fresh servers.
  11. There is already a 3rd party program that switches servers for a full map experience on a normal PC. Sadly, Atlas servers will not function over LAN and my mobile isp dosen't work for port forwarding a internet server.
  12. Agreed. This I why I keep saying add SP mode and true LAN server support, like Ark. This would help the population stability. People who aren't up for all the exploits on official could still play the game in single player mode. Also, major updates need to come with WIPES. This is the only way to bring new and returning players in. Also, supports adding SP mode, give new and returning players a testing environment to test out character and ship builds and hone their skills.
  13. It will not be accessable to new players or more casual players, if it's already all owned.
  14. Planned wipes would help get new player and returning players back. There is more to player retention than forcing your players to keep logging in just to hold on to land claim.
  15. Monthly wipe would really help balance the game as both minor and major things change.
  16. It's really that this is more a sandbox than an organized mmorpg like WOW or some of the cool faction based PvP games like DAoC.
  17. Do you have an actual opinion on the state of the game or EA in general?
  18. You forgot the implied cash grab if the game tanks.
  19. Based on the dev interviews I have read, they are planning on just leaving the gameplay and content in the hands of the players. Which I think is a really bad idea. Game mechanics are needed.
  20. I stick with PvE in these type games cause PvP is usually too ridiculous. They aren't well balanced for long term gameplay. That's why battleroyal types games are so popular, it's not long term.
  21. PvP should be hardcore. Only 1 life to live. Like reality. Yolo.
  22. I think this is only true for the White knights. Most people are critical of EA. At least constructive criticism.
  23. Agreed. Of course that wanted all types to buy the game. Also agreed. I am still holding out hope for either single player mode or true LAN server support. Most games in this genre (the REAL genre) have a Single player mode. Atlas has a long way to go before being a true MMO.
  24. I really hope PvP and PvE get appropriate game mechanics in the rewrite.
