  1. Just do this. I want to have a better reason to have catapults on my ship-deck. Being able to launch players at enemy ships would be golden, which I think is in game? But even better allowing players to launch themselves. Would go perfect with a wingsuit, and would change the dynamic of chasing/running from ships, as you could fire a person with a wing-suit onto a fleeing ship, and they might want to put swivel guns on the back of their boat and on deck to counter it.
  2. By "buffs" i mean something like The idea behind this is that your Leutinent could go up on the mast and find the stars while you the captian are driving the boat. This way the captian does not have to give up the wheel to get the buff. Basically, if I the captian were piloting the ship, a crew-mate could go up ont he mast, find the stars, get the buff, and I would get the mini map and so on. That said, I wouldn't give the buff to the "captian" but I would apply it to the wheel itself. Either this, or perhaps you could put your sextant on the captians wheel inventory, and the wheel would have the buff for the duration, effectively ending the buff for you and giving it to whomever is on the captians wheel for the alloted time. The duration of the buff would depend on who found the stars, not who is driving the boat. To make things even simpler, perhaps you could just make it so you press 'E' on the captians wheel while the captian is driving, if he is driving, you just get a message like "you calibrate your ship's sextant with yours" and the buff added to the captians wheel. Once the buff were given to the wheel, anyone driving the boat could then have the mini-map. Once calibrated other players if in possession of a sextant either on their on the hotbar could then press e to get the buff for themselves. The fishing net was a good start, but having more things to do while at sea i'm sure would be a welcome addition to the game.
  3. The maintenance crew port would help single player captians especially of larger ships enjoy the game by reducing the amount of work required by PC players to maintain a ship. It would fit on a cannon port, and would provide the NPC with tools needed to repair the boat while at sea instead of just docked. It would also give the NPC a water bucket to throw water out of the cannon port if the ship started to flood. If the port/plank were broken, this feature would be removed, but the NPC would still be able to repair the boat. The NPC would also prioratize healing his port over the rest of the boat, so chances of his port breaking would be lower than on say a cannon port. You could be able to have 12 of these on a brig or 10 on a schooner, or many more on a galleon. The water-throw mechanic would also begin to fail after the water level was half way above their deck, as water would be able to leak in through the cannon port at that point. On a galleon you would have the option of putting them on multiple ship levels to chunk out water as each deck flooded. The NPCs underwater would either be disabled or only able to repair at this point. This would be a quick thing to implament as all you would have to program in would be the NPC game logic, and add the models for some kind of toolbox and a water bucket which he would grab and throw water out of the port as the ship sank. This combined with giving NPCs the ability to repair structures on a boat would greatly improve the quality of life of ship captians and crew, as crew could focus on fighting instead of running around doing maintenance work, tho a human repair person with a hammer, water bucket and some extra planks with repair fiend would likely still be a huge asset in PVP. Also, make repair-fiend give every maintenance NPC on the boat a bonus for 6 seconds if used on the captian wheel or add a perc you could pick up to advaned efficent repairs, soemthing like Rally the Troops but a perc just for NPCs, perhaps a passive for if you have both advanced efficent repair/repair fiend that makes repair fiend operate ship-wide. I like this last idea actually, and think it could apply to other skills a captian might be speced into. Perhaps something like Advanced Rally the Troops, which would let you use medic skills like savior ship-wide, allowing you to heal every player/npc on your boat. Either this or just make such feats ship-wide while you are on the captians wheel or leutinent podium, which would greatly improve reasoning to put one on yoru boat, as your deck-hand might then opt to pick repair fiend and medic from those skill trees and still be a pvp oriented character that is contributing to the ship. Might even have more than one podium on your ship for your player characters if this were the case.
  4. One simple change that could/should be done to the game that would automatically increase the types of ships at sea would be to rebalance medium and small sails. Leave large sails as they are, but make two medium sales better than one large, and make two small better than one medium. The reasoning for this is simple, people would use more and more types of sails on their boats becaus as far as sail-points are concerned the smaller sails would be an improvement over the larger ones. For example, on a brig you might use any combinatoin of the available sails, maybe just one medium weight, two large speed, and one medium speed. On a schooner you might use two medium speed and a small weight, or handling sail. etc etc... This combined with something like allowing cannon ports to be used with Oars/NPC Oarmen would vastly improve the number of ship builds that are viable to the game.
  5. Oars, as in paddles. How do they work? You would add them to cannon ports. They would row by holding W or D on keyboard, or pressing some hotkey to manually leave them on. They would do a few things. You would back-pedal faster, you would go faster without wind, and you would have some speed advantage with wind as well. You would also be able to turn the ship faster by holding A or D, causing them to row appropriatly to turn the ship. This would have the following effect on balance. Schooners could go even faster. Brigs and schooners would be closer together speed wise, as brigs could have two more oarmen than schooners. For galleons, Oars could only be placed on the bottom row, but it would help them maneuver better, and give them a speed advantage. Yes you would have to have a gunport and crew member to man the oars. I personally would opt to use them as I mostly do trade and most of my cannons are at the back of the boat. I also prefer to use Swivel Guns/Liquid fire in PVP because you don't need as many of them and can use hit and run/ramming tactics if you put many points into resilience (resistance?) instead of weight. It would take a shit-ton of frustration out of the game when going on long runs, as you would be able to navigate quickly in any direction with or without wind. All things considered I think Oars/Paddles would have a fairly low development cycle, as in getting the animation in and the game logic and so on in scripting. Furthermore it would lower the dependency on speed sails, as having 5-6 oarmen on each side and 2 speed sails on a brig or 1 on a schooner enough for a "fast" boat. It would also make trade Brigs more viable for "fast" boats as you could drop a speed sail in favor of 12 oarmen, something I would defiantly do. It would greatly diversify ship building methods, adding points in weight would no longer be the only way to make your ship "faster." You would have to balance this against the fact that you're sacrificing a cannon for an oar. I would suggest each oarmen add something like 5% speed boost, and you could perhaps make one of the stats of the NPC effect their ability to row, maybe stamina or fortitude. You would even see more war-ship designs, as some people would use oarmen and flame guns and harpoons to make fast take-down boats, while others would do the traditional cannon/flame/ballista setup and all speed sails. The "oar" would also add something for the NPC to sit on and plant his feet down on, and some mecnanical crap for the oar itself. You could have two variations of the oar, small and large, one for each cannon-port, this way galleons could have two npcs per port ont he bottom deck instead of one, but it wouldn't be 100% necessary. Of coures a galleon with it's whole bottom row on oars would be a huge speed bonus, but it would also be a huge sacrifice in DPS, and some balancing of the Galleon's speed might be required, perhaps even to make a few oars necissary, which would honestly make the galleon experience much more enjoyable as they turn like absolte garbage, even having 4 oarmen on each side would greatly improve this. I will say the double-oarmen on large ports might be a bad idea for balancing reasons, perhaps just making it so two npcs could man each port by default would be better, so you could row with 20 on a schooner and 24 on a brig for the ultimate speed boat.
  6. Furthermore, for boats with "armor" via sloped roofs this would be a huge stress reduction. It can get a little tiresom having to check over every single placement after every single fight to be sure nothing got focused on. You don't tend to get in fights one right after another, so having some kind of "deck hand" or "tool cupboard" that does repairs between fights would be great. It doesn't have to be anything that would alter PVP, just something that would take some of the drawbacks of sailing away by handing it over to an extra NPC or two (i'd say two max). Honestly just having "deck repairs" as something you could put an NPC on would be the way I would do it, and everything connected to that deck would get a slow repair, like 1-2 points per second or something. So a schooner would take 2 NPCs, and a Brig would take 3, a Sloop 1 and a Galleon 5 etc. It might even make sense not to use it if you had player crew on board to save the crew points. An item for land called a "tool cupboard" with a 15-20 tile radius could be added for base repairs/defense for land bases/harbors only.
  7. Would make repairing your ship almost 100% more tolerable if when you anchored your ship, your crew that you have sweeping on deck would repair construction parts and not just decks, sails and planks. It would also be amazing if you could assign one or two npcs to "repair duty" while out at sea. Maybe each deck could have one or two "repair duty" slots that you could put NPCs on. The idea being that it wouldn't make a big difference in combat, but it would take a lot of stress out of repairing after a fight with ghost ships or whatever. You could just go on knowing that in 10 minutes or so your boat would be fine. Perhaps something like a "tool cubbord" you could put on your boat and man with an NPC, and it would repair everything in a 8-12 tile radius or something like that. Perhaps also usable on land. Even if it were a top deck item like the diving attachment or dingey dock, i would get one just to take the stress out of repairs. You wouldn't have that worry at the back fo your mind like oh shit maybe i missed a plank or a tile, which happens especially when some of the planks are difficult to target. At least make it so anchored NPCs repair construction, just this would be huge, as you could just park your boat after a fight, get a bit of wood etc and repair right away. A better UI for your boat's damage would be nice too. Perhaps for everyone on board, not just the captian, just a little indicator on what is damaged via a RGB system, similar to games like Diablo where it shows which armor peaces and weapons are damaged in the top right or left corner of the screen. I know that tiles/planks change color but it can be a little to subtle and some planks are covered by decks on boats like schooners.
  8. Was thinking it would inspire trade and give players something to do if different metals provided different bonuses to items. For example, Iron armor would provide a bonus to armor, tin would make it lighter, silver provides bonuses to blueprint perks etc. Silver would make swords / bullets / cannon balls do more damage to ghost ships and legion. The idea is that people would trade more than they do already. I suppose you could get more trade by doubling the amount of blueprint bonuses on blueprints up to 250%. TBQH would like to see both.

  10. So I just went all the way from A5 to A15 and O14 looking for whales, found none. I'm looking for them because I really need the blubber and items they drop. Wasn't successful in finding any, was hoping someone might provide some insights as to where they spawn or what zones they are more easily found in. Thanks in advance.
  11. Same here, it's game breaking, we're having admins boxes getting jacked etc. You could say "your fault haha" but we trusted this feature.
  12. Known bug? Going to be fixed? Every time the server resets so do our company groups, not an issue with time warp, I set them up right on server up not in a warp. It's just wiping company groups every time servers come down/up.
