  1. I feel like everything I do until the wipe is going to be pointless and that the playerbase is being used as guinea pigs to test some stupid "alternative claiming rules" scenario. I understand that this is a early access game but I didn't sign up to be a game tester. I bought an actual game and expected to play a game as a player not a tester.
  2. These are changes and rules that look good on a surface level but they will create a stale pvp environment and encourage players to work around the rules and abuse them to their fullest extent. Lets pretend offline raiding protection is added to the game. What is to prevent players from creating a ghost alliance where they simply have all their structures pincoded in one company and players just use another allied company? If boats are immune to damage anchored then players will just store their valuables inside their anchored ships at all times. Declaring war hurts small companies because they lose their ability to attack spontaneously and this turns the game into "how many people can show up at this time of the day". A numbers game that the largest company will always win. Sorry but people that think this is stuff that helps casual companies and players seeking to escape from griefing you are sadly mistaken. All these changes will ultimately do is create a stagnant dull pvp environment that's impossible for small companies to engage in and further protect large companies.
  3. That's how wikis work my friend. Information becomes outdated and people update it. Wikis are not meant to specifically used as game guides. They are meant to store information.
  4. How are discovery points supposed to remain if the islands are being completely overhauled? Unless there is a guarantee that all the discoveries currently in the game are going to still be in the game after the overhaul I don't see how it will work. I'm with you though it does suck. I have 200ish discoveries myself.
  5. It's not much different than the wiki being a complete blank slate on day 1. What you are saying is a good case for why people should try to keep it updated but not so much a good case to delete information stored on the site.
  6. Wiping the wiki is a pretty bad idea. People can update it and still keep past changes noted. It's not a problem if it's outdated for a short period of time.
  7. Grapeshot, "Let's make a pirate game but instead of allowing pirates to be anarchists that ignore the rules of society they become landlords." Playerbase, "Wtf?". Grapeshot, "Oh yeah and now you have to declare war before you can attack peoples land. Pirates always declare war before they attack!" Playerbase, "Wtf?" Grapeshot, "Oh yeah and now if you anchor a boat on the land you own your boat becomes god mode because landlords err... I mean pirates shouldn't attack an unmanned boat that's naughty." Playerbase, "..."
  8. Elevators are usually an alternative to ramps where ramps do not apply or would require substantially more work. This is typically on steep cliffs sides often accompanied by cliff platforms. I totally get that this is supposed to be a more primitive elevator but for game mechanics they need to be changed for the sake of making them less aggravating and tedious. One big issue is the largest platform size is too small for tier 3 animals to be lifted without significant annoyance. The size of the platform does not seem to really account for the extra space necessary to avoid clipping onto the top side of the elevator where it is usually attached to a structure. This can sometimes cause animals to get pushed off the sides wasting lots of time. Along having small size and animal clipping the speed in which elevators raise and lower makes clipping issues even far more painful especially when nearing the upper limit of height cap. Also the lower platform option is very unintuitive. Having to keep the radial menu open to click lower platform a real pain. Elevators need to be less finicky with collision both on themselves and for animals. Sometimes a slightly raised platform even a step high will not allow animals to step up to them. Additionally, elevators can get stuck on small rocks or bushes on the sides of cliffs. Honestly, as long as the railing is connected elevators should completely ignore collision with any other obstacles. I get that this is significantly less realistic but this is for quality of life. It's soul crushing to make an entire elevator railing just to find out that the platform itself gets stuck on a small protrusion of a cliff side.
  9. It doesn't matter. Players have discords and other methods or organization outside of companies. This can't stop external cooperation. It's better to just embrace large companies and I say this from the perspective of a sub 50 active player company. Hopefully, if you area company of at least 75 active players you can still have enough people to half cap any given server if needed.
  10. What's happening is the far distance LoD of islands from a previous grid carry over when you teleport to a bed or go to a new freeport. This is what I have noticed at least. When I get close to some of the ones that carried over from deserts or tundra biomes they are usually extremely low texture quality and polygon count. This totally gives it away that its a low LoD island meant to only show up when you are really far away from the island its supposed to represent. So yeah these aren't mere mountains they are entire islands or at least the low level of detail version of islands you are only meant to see far in the background.
  11. I have a screenshot of the name. It says mermaid. I'm just going to scratch out the chatbox. One moment.
  12. I heard of that somewhere. I took off all my gear when I swam to here just to be safe but she didn't drag me to the bottom of the sea rather she freaked out and swam away. Perhaps its a 50/50 scenario she is either friendly or mean? My character is a woman? I don't know maybe that has something to do with it?
  13. Found it in D12. It's a golden age island - power stone island. I didn't know they were in game till I found this and I've been playing since release and I've been on power stone islands many times before and never saw one. It seemed passive. After I took this screenshot I jumped into the water and it started to sing and I had either a buff or a debuff but she got scared and swam away very fast before I could see what it was. I have a screenshot of the singing but it has guild and ally chat in it and I don't want to link that.
  14. In a game like this it's very natural for conflict to occur and occasionally this conflict can be resolved through diplomatic means. Anything can happen when there is communication. Obviously, when players can't communicate diplomacy is off the table and this is often the case when players from different countries speaking languages foreign to each other are put together in this game. It seems that often people become resentful and mistrusting of literally anyone that they can't communicate with. I honestly think that the mentality this game fosters within players toward foreign players is very unhealthy and negative. I don't expect to see a solution but I don't think I'm the only person to notice this.
  15. Running across rafts along the shore on mounts for example a giraffe has a high chance to cause player and their mount to instantly teleport far above the sky boundary causing animal and player to instantly die/despawn.
  16. The hardest part of taming is figuring out the method that works best. It might seem difficult but the odds are that there are easier ways to do it you haven't thought of. If you think you can just go in without prep or any strategy then you are likely going to have a lot of trouble. Getting a good first tame is always the hardest and requires a structure to trap it in. My personal method is to tame while riding a bear or another rhino. Just damage it on the animal of choice then bola while mounted.
  17. max level is 51 without discoveries and 101 with all discoveries.
  18. Regardless of fun I think it's important for devs to follow the path and vision of the game design laid out before them. When you start allowing everything to exist because some people find it fun then the game can start to detract from what it was meant to be. In this case if gliders can become the main source of solo transportation for land and even the sea then what happens to other aspects of the game meant for solo transportation aka horses and sloops? Gliding safely off a mountain or boarding other ships from a crows nest is about the extent of glider usefulness Id like to see. When it starts becoming the dominant means of transportation across close islands or across large distances of land then its clearly something that needs to be dealt with to avoid compromising the methods of travel meant for those things.
  19. Why should it matter how slim the possibility or how difficult it is to maintain an exploit. Just because it's difficult to achieve doesn't mean it's justified being in the game.
  20. People found an exploit to fly permanently. Yep, thats the last straw.... How dare they nerf infinite flight exploits.
  21. Animals the same as seamanship or artillery require commitment into a skill tree and as such should be competitive in value. Combat animals are far more disposable and weaker compared to ark and most have a usefulness for gathering and I think it's perfectly acceptable for this tree to be one people identify as a gathering tree. People used animal labor all the time before machines existed. My point here is that clearly animals right now are not a staple in the core gameplay and serve as a higher tier of basic material gathering in my opinion. I just want to see their role as gathers being fully implemented and less useful animals having more usefulness. By all means if high tier gathering needs to be split among several other skill trees I'm completely ok with that as long as skills have value and are worthwhile investments. On the combat side of things I do think people that have invested points into things like armory and melee weaponry should have a competitive edge against animals. If a player commits the time to make journeyman armor and weapons and has skills to improve those items equal to the commitment it takes to invest into riding and the time it takes to tame a good animal then they should be of equal power.
  22. It's tier 3 and is as big as an elephant. I really don't think it's speed alone justifies taming one considering it has only 2 thirds the weight of an elephant and takes up the same amount of room. I would really like to see this animal play a more useful role for farming and I think making this the go to animal for thatch farming would be perfect! Lets put that long neck to use!
  23. Same here. I noticed lots of disconnects after battleeye was enabled. Today specifically is very bad.
