  1. Hello guys, It's been a while since i played but i am back and i was interested to see what is new. There are a lot of things that have changed for the better but i think some things got missed and i want to talk about the loot system in this game.. First, let me describe what i understand what this game is supposed to be. In reality or in this world, you are either a empire guy, a privater or a bit of both. You sail the sea as a navy protecting your cargo ships or you hunt for fat loot as a pirate. You also have Marauders who just do hit and runs on players to see stuff explode, hehe. In all those instances you need a loot system that can support those activity's at and on land. The current system is this.. You drop a box on death that last 15 min or you can drop individual boxes the last 2 min. The box or "little briefcase" you drop on death is brown and not that big, so it's difficult to see. The individual boxes are light brown and even more difficult to see. The decay rate of 15 min and 2 min is also really low and difficult to in the world. Having individual boxes laying around also creates lag on the server. This brings me to the problem. Loot can be easily despawned and there by preventing any reward for the attacker that has invested resources in the attack. What people usually do is to drop everything on the ground when they know they have lost and de spawn the loot. The attacker has no indication that this is happening and finding the boxes can be really difficult in the world mesh or bushes and among trees. In the sea it even worse as boxes and briefcases look smaller and are hidden under the water. My suggestion to solve this problem is to introduce two systems that are perfect for this type of game. For the sea create a loot gathering box that gathers loot as a float some on the surface of the sea and on the ground create a loot chest that gathers loot around it. The more loot stacks that are in the box the longer it will last in the world, the bigger it is and the more it will glow. This is an example: one player drops a stack of gold, it lands on the ground and creates a small chest(gold decay timer could be 1 h). Then another player drops another stack of gold a few meter away and the first chest collect the gold, grows in size and increases the timer for decay. The chest now starts to have a slight yellow glow, showing it's location and showing you that something valuable is in side of it. I am sure you could build a lot on a system like this, the color could be different depending on what is inside and the looks of the chest/float some could change depending on the content. I believe that this type of system is needed in a pirate/navy survival game and it is something that is expected in 2021. I know a lot of other games that have similar loot systems. If made right it should also improve server performance. It's a win win guys, please make it so!
  2. Hello everyone, Please remove the ability for players to track players on the pvp servers. You should not be able to see steam names in game and it is in my opinion also a mistake that you able to see how many players are in the server that you are currently connected to. If you can tack players and fleets outside the game mechanics then you can not be a pirate or do strategy as a company fleet. Remove the tracking outside the game and then streamline tracking inside the game as a game mechanic. You should not be able to see people joining by steam name or player name. It might also not be necessary to show exactly how many are on the server that you are connected to. If you think about it even the chat might need reworking. There should not be a global chat but more of a local chat that covers the max render distance or a region on the map. The alliance chat also needs to be changed so that you can talk to the different alliance groups you have and are a member of. You should also have a in game contact list for chat! Those changes would make this game a lot better in my opinion. This would make it possible to create more game mechanics in to the game for tracking and doing bounty hunting! Please make this happen, i do not want my steam name to be 123! just so i can play this game!
  3. Yes, barrels are defiantly OP right now and should not be able to fire out of a cannon. [World map] My suggestion is to make changes to the system, so that it would allow you to safe log your ship to a lobby for a gold per day fee. This could be done by having some lawless islands controlled by NPC governors where you for a fee can safe log your ship and cargo to a lobby. Then making it so Freeport is a new player only server, so when you leave Freeport you can not go back. Those areas would be patrolled by NPC Navy that enforces the security ratings of the area. [Ship builds] I am really happy to hear that they plan to change how the ship building is done. In that case i do still think that my ideas should be taken in to consideration in the new system. It is not a bad idea to have sail rigging, so you have more streamlined sail options to chose form. When we are talking structure limits on ships but i did not really talk about this directly. I was talking about the placement limit, how fare out form the ship you can build and that will need to be cleaned up. I do agree that there will also needs to be a max structure limit on the ships. [Player Islands] I did not suggest using real world $ for allowing you to own islands or having a company. I have no idea where you got that form, that is a crazy idea tho haha I suggested penalizing a company for getting to big and having to many allies. This is also just one way of doing it but you could just slam the company and allies with a hard limit but i would prefer a soft limit. I don't agree that it hurts the small company's, on the contrary. If done right it will help the whole community in my opinion. [Island defense] Yeah, i did on purpose not touch on this issue because i have a lot of other post on this particular issue on the forums. However, in short i agree on having a predetermined fortifications that need to fall before the island can be taken would be better. I wanted a system that when you take the island it gives you a settlement that is prebuilt and has a predetermined location on the island for the flag. You could then upgrade the structures by paying gold for it and build the defenses. I also suggested larger building pieces for harbor construction and so on. The larges problem with the game right now is that you don't have a safe place to put your stuff when you don't have a large company. You do not want to have to star over every day to then just get zerg'ed down by a large company or offline raided again the next day.
  4. The game is horrible right now, if you are not 20 people or more in your company. Problems: There is no way to keep your stuff safe when offline as a small group, because you can not take an island and hold it. Lawless is a horrible place to live and you can not really hide because the servers are connected to your steam id and show it when entering a server! Freeport is broken and your ship will decay really fast as a new player. Large company's are keeping all there valuable stuff safe there and you can not touch it. Game balance is a nightmare right now! Solutions: Remake the Freeport and lawless system. Make pvp possible everywhere but add npc navy to protect people in Freeport and lawless. Add a security status to players and npc. Create npc governor settlements on lawless where you can build good relations and safe log your ship and items for a daily gold upkeep. Freeport should be a place where you can not build and only go there to turn in starter quest. When you are lvl 9 and above you can no longer enter freeport. [Player islands] Player owned islands need to be limited to two island per company no matter the size. Company's need to be limited by having a tax for company size. If a company goes over 30 people the tax in gold cost for having the company needs to rise in cost exponentially. Likewise having more then two allies also needs to have an upkeep cost. (You can call it an administrative empire cost that is payed to the npc regions.) [Sea pvp combat] When we talk about pvp on the open sea, then there are some problems regarding server traveling and balance. Your ship should have a 5 min cool down if damaged by another player or ship that prevents server traveling. If you manage to not get hit for 5 min then you should be able to flee to another server. This will stop people from abusing the server border to escape after going in to deep of griefing. There is also the problem of ship sinking being way to slow and losing planks is happening way to fast. This need to be adjusted so that the leaking of your planks starts way sooner but it takes a lot more to plank a ship. If you get planked you will sink really fast no matter what skills you have as a captain. If you have a leak you will not sink as fat but still fast enough that you have to repair the ship with in a few minuts or you will sink. [Ship weight & build] Ship balance is also a big problem in the game. (I will not talk about barrels right now, it sounds like they will be removed form the cannon soon) Ships need to have more leeway when it comes to weight and speed. We want to be able to actually build stuff on our ships and still be able to be part of pvp. Change structures to weight almost nothing and sort the way armored ships work by sorting the building limitations on the ship models. Make the speed curve start at 35%, where ship weight under 35% will not impact speed. Change the sails to have the same max speed and add different advantages for the sails then speed(Acceleration should not impact max speed!). Then Either build on the current sail system or introduce a full sail rig system that you place with one click on your ship. [Blueprints] The blueprints are to insane right now and they are way to hard to get. The hardcore factor of the blueprint system is a big turn off for most of the people playing this game. This should in my opinion be adjusted for the new season! You need to think of the blueprinted stuff as a slight advantage form a common ship. For instance a really sick mythical blueprint should be a max bonus of 160%, so you have a 10% rise in every blueprint type. common, fine, journeyman, masterwork, legendary and mythical. This will make the gap lass insane and a common ship will still be able to be part of the fight. You will also not run in to players hips that just are impossible to beat. [Why am i writing all this] I am trying to help the game be more open to new people and make it a more fun experience for everyone. This should send the game in a better direction and make it a more fun experience. I was one of the people who suggested the combat time for player owned island in season 1. If you look at my old post you might be able to find it. This change helped the game gain a lot more favor form people who game and also have work in real life(A lot of your costumers are in that segment and will also be on release day!) This system for player owned islands gave you a way of stabilizing the player owned world and has given us a lot of good security but still having a healthy amount of pvp. Now this could still be adjusted and improved but that is for another post. However, once again i am imploring you to read the suggestions and understand that this is not only my opinion but the wast opinion of you casual community. We are a large group of people who want to play the game but we can not play it at the moment because of how broken and unbalanced the mechanics are. Best Regard Jack Shepard

  6. Yep, being able to stun lock people should not be a thing. The whole melee combat system needs to be reworked. It fells horrible and there are so many abusive mechanics in the melee system alone. Please take some pointers from Mount and blade or Last Oasis. When looking for a good melee system.

  8. Hello everyone, This game needs to decide what it want to be and how the future should look. We can all agree that freeport is broken right now and loosing your stuff constantly to griefers is pretty bad. You could ask your self why fire arrows are even allowed on freeport. I want to go a little deeper in to the system that is set up right now: You have freeport which is supposed to be safe for everyone but your ship decays insanely fast even if anchored and boosting the resistance of your ship stats. Then you have Lawless that allows you to play in a world where company's can not own the island and there is no offline protection. Last you have an player owned area that is essential another Lawless area where you have to serve a large company to have your stuff protected in island peacetime or get destroyed by large zergs. The question i have is, where can you be a pirate and keep your stuff safe? I have tried this now four times in four different pvp seasons and i am sad to say that you have no hope of living the pirate life in this game! It pains me to say this, it really dose! Because this game could be soooo good and that is why i keep coming back There is a bunch of factors that works against you here! You do not have a safe haven, you will get offline raided, the big companies have blueprinted ships that are insanely overpowered and the loot system is not really giving you much if you manage to sink a player ship. Then you also have the player island where more often then not Lag form building blocks is part of the defense. This is my suggestion to solve some of this: I will take inspiration form EVE-Online and Last Oasis. I know that this might be a sore spot for some people because those games also have there own issues but i do believe that taking the best elements form those game might be able to solve a lot of the issues in this game. I would suggest making it so: In Freeport you can still pvp but you have a high security status in the grid that will make the a Freeport navy try to stop conflict. If you break the code of conduct in the Freeport grid then you will be punished with a bad security standing and the navy will start hunting you. This system would have to be worked out in detail! Lawless should be changed so it has a lower security status where you can fight on open seas with out the Freeport navy meddling but if your security standing is bad enough then the Navy will still hunt you. However some island should have NPC Governors that have a unique standings that can be improved by doing stuff for them. Those island have safe harbors that allowed you to keep you ship and loot safe for a gold price. This is where it would make sense to have a out of game lobby where you ship can go when you safe log for the night but again it needs to have a gold price per day. Last the player owned islands should be changed so when you take a island you get a fort on ground level where flag is in a predetermined location. This fort is build by using gold to upgrade and can be upgraded in steps fort, fortress and castle. The upkeep keep rising the more you upgrade your buildings. You can do the same ting for the harbor but it might be better to create harbor buildings for free build. They would need to be big building blocks, so they create less lag. Change the island limit to be determined by upkeep instead of island points. There is a bunch of other issues that need to be addressed! Take beds for instance, they make your ship act like a clown car of unlimited respawns. You have to limit the amount of spawns you have available on your beds by creating bed charges. I am not sure if this should be a gold cost, water cost or a food cost but least use gold for this example. You put 10 gold in your bed and then you can spawn 5 times, when the gold is gone the bed stops working as a respawn point and the bed need to be refilled. Distance aka spawning on a different island in a different grid should be more expensive to do. Then we have zoning while getting attacked in ship combat. If your ship take damage on it's structures you should not be able to travel to a different server! There should be a cool down on you ship that prevents you form jumping to another grid for some time. I would say that the cool down should be between 5 to 10 min. If you take a chance and it does not work out then you should be punished for it. What do people think about this? I am sure there would be a lot of problem that would have to be worked out. Yes, i understand that these things are changing the game but hopefully people understand that i want to change this game for the better I did leave out a lot that could be expanded on later like bounty system that is integrated with the security system and raiding governors trading ships in lawless and so on.. Devs, if you have any questions, just send me a message and i will be glad to explain in more depth Best regard Jack Shepard
  9. Admins are helping with this, if you go to the report system. You can ask for owner to get transferred if the owner has been inactive for a while. It would however be really nice if there was a in game system like the one your are suggesting. We had a owner that was a real c*** to all the members, luckily he was also really inactive while wanking to his shitty buildings on the pve server. It would be nice if there was a safeguard system to vote the owner out or you can move the owner when he has been inactive for two weeks.
  10. Yeah, this need to be fixed! also make the damn submarine not count as a ship for crew target!
  11. I don't understand why this is even a thing. There should not be a air force in a pirate game! Nerf gliders so the durability allowed you to glide for 30 sec and then breaks. Remove barrels being able to be carried while gliding. Barrels should also not be able to be fired form a cannon, they would blow up inside a cannon when fired. Using a catapult is good but the catapult need to have a slow firing rate but a way longer firing distance. Catapult should be a way to lay siege to bases on mountains. This changes would be really good for the game. It would slow down the siege and make it more fun to defend and attack. Make it so!
  12. Hello everyone, When you set up the rank system, you expect it to work after you put a lot of energy in to it. The problem is that for some reason Inventory rank dose nor work on locked containers and boxes with pin codes on. For some strange reason you have to set the structure rank for low rank people to be able to use the inventory. This is a problem because then new members can accidentally destroy your containers or boxes. It also makes it so you can get sabotaged more easily. I don't think this would be a hard thing to fix and i am not sure where the issue came form but it is annoying as hell! I would also suggest a way for people to put stuff in a container and see what is in the container but not be able to empty the container. This would free up officers a little from having to run around and move stuff all the time. Best regard Jack Shepard
  13. Yeah, please fix this! It is a huge issue on the pvp servers!
  14. Hello everyone, The cheesiness and Russian players on the eu server are typing in their strange symbol language but we europeans can not read it. Since it's in cubes because the symbols are not in the game, we are unable to translate. Please add the missing language or make it so they can not type in unsupported languages. I am no entirely sure how the game gets the symbols but there is hopefully a way to fix this. It would be cool if you could use google translate in the game chat, although this might not be so easy to get integrated Best regard Jack Shepard
  15. Yes, we need to progress and mistakes will be made but in the end we will have a better game.
