  1. Well I played 3 years of ARK and never got insided once. So I think you could call that a successful recruitment policy.
  2. You can criticize it all you want but at the end of the day we came out winners and that is what counts.
  3. Ah here it is that buzz word again "toxicity". I'm quite surprised you didn't throw in "griefers" and "trolls". The game world you seem to want where everyone is nice and gentle and does trading and has "community" events is already offered its called PVE. I really don't quite understand why obvious PVE players are so determined to remove PVP from the PVP servers. You don't see us PVP players demanding PVE servers have more wars. It would be nice if you would reciprocate that.
  4. Nope most dedicated PVP players have left and won't be returning. This new mode is far from a PVP mode . In these new "PVP" servers you can only PVP for a few hours each day with 3/4 of the day being restricted to PVE only . I don't know how anyone can call that a PVP server. Give it a week and the few remaining PVP players will be so utterly bored they will stop playing all together.
  5. It says on the box its a PVP open world sandbox game. If it wasn't then their sales would have been 50% less.
  6. With any game you are always going to see a gradual decline in player counts over time. It happens to every game even the most popular games.
  7. A wipe announcement will always remove part of your player base but the question is will it recover after the wipe. In most cases its resounding yes but I don't see it with this game at least not on PVP servers. The PVE servers will definitely fill up again post wipe but sadly I don't see the same being true for the PVP servers. You have to remember a huge portion of the Atlas player base are ARK players. We bought this game because we were told it will basically be ARK with ships and with a full PVP experience. A lot of us aren't interested in raid times and enforced PVE on our PVP servers. We just want to slaughter and pillage that is what PVP is all about. Kill your neighbor take his loot, steal his cattle and then finally conquer his land.
  8. I can smell at a minimum a big revert happening with regards to these new anti PVP changes they are so determined to introduce on PVP servers. Once they see the player numbers plummet they will have no choice but to revert the severs back to their original PVP focused state.
  9. Well it's clear you lack the commitment and ideological vision to extract the maximum benefits out of these games. To me the worst kind of recruit is someone burdened with ethics and morals. I can tolerate a player with bad skills, I can tolerate a new player but someone that preaches morality and all that ethical bs just doesn't belong in a proper PVP tribe. A good recruit in my book is someone that is willing to follow orders and learn new philosophies and then embrace them. To give you an example In one of the ARK mega tribes I was in I used to run a small raiding group. Basically it was 2 teams of 4 that would go onto a server and sort of rough it up a bit before the big assault by the rest of the tribe happened. We were well disciplined everyone had a role and they performed that role. Generally speaking our missions mostly revolved around going onto an enemy server and slaughtering anything we could. This would create a climate of of fear and weaken the main tribe that ran that server in the process by causing the smaller ones to stop playing. With this kind of work you had to be thorough. Everything in their base would go, all buildings of value and all tames would be deleted. Any resource we didn't need we just dropped it. The idea was to crush their spirits, the folks we attacked would literally have nothing left and most of the time they would leave the server or quit the game entirely. We were very strict on recruiting. Most of our recruits to these special squads were not even from our tribe. I always found the random solo guerrilla players you occasionally came across in severs to be much more valuable combat material then some PVE farmer we had in our tribe. These kind of players were tough, well disciplined, self reliant used to making do with very little. Not the usual pampered princesses mega tribes seem to breed. You could give them some rusty old rifle and they would be more then happy. Anyways on one particular raid I had accepted in on a trial basis on the recommendation of another tribe member one of our farmers. He didn't have much PVP experience but he said he was very keen for some. So we went off and did a raid. We knocked out all their defenses and then blew into their vaults. We also had several of their players caged. Then we set to work on their remaining tames/dinosaurs and deleting their foundations. At this point our new recruit quite vocally stated that he thought it was a bit mean that we killing their tames and that we should leave them. Me and the others were gobsmacked, we couldn't believe his weak minded attitude. If their tames were left then it would have given them encouragement to rebuild and it would also allow them to rebuild faster. Eventually as a result they would be able to go on the offensive against us. Needles to say that was his last raid with us, the next day he was back at base picking weeds. You do whatever is necessary to survive. After all it is a survival game is it not?
  10. Look when you are in a difficult position as my tribe was in that case you have to use any means necessary to extricate yourself from that position. The hardest part for me in that episode was actually going on their discord during the events and playing the sympathy card. It took quite a bit of acting skills on my part but I pulled it off. This is what makes games like this in my opinion fantastic. There is PVP but there is also politics and the ability to act strategically. There are many options open to players as to how they can approach a problem and benefit from it.
  11. Yep no matter how PVE folks try and spin it these changes are solely designed to hinder and interfere with legitimate PVP. In effect they are designed to make it harder to PVP and therefore discourage players from doing it. The result is going to be glorified renamed PVE servers with a hint of PVP on top. I don't know about you but I bought this game because it said on the box open world PVP. With these changes the devs are betraying their loyal customers by removing core content from the game. These changes will indeed be the demise of small companies. At least before small companies had a fighting chance of doing damage to larger ones through the use of strategic initiatives but now that is all but ruled out. Small companies can't compete head to head vs larger ones they have to be use more creative means to gain an advantage rather then use blunt force but this has now been taken away from them. They will now just be sitting ducks for large companies, unable to afford the expensive war tokens they will basically be forced into a never ending cycle of defending off war declarations without ever having the hope of being able to retaliate.
  12. Well you have to play smart in ARK. I spent a year in a small 5 man guerrilla tribe that was very successful. We lived pretty frugally, we didn't have a big base nor did we have hardly any dinos. Just a few Stegos and a flier. We had a lot of tiny bases spread out around the map. Occasionally we would lose a base but it wasn't a big deal because we always had the other ones. Now sure we could have built a large luxurious base but we had no means to defend it so to us it made no sense. A lot of players in ARK make the mistake of building too big and too obvious. For a small tribe a hidden base even without turrets is far better then a big obvious base even if well defended.
  13. Don't worry he calls anyone that doesn't agree with him and anyone that expresses love for PVP a "PVO" player. You have to remember you are talking to someone that got so destroyed and completely obliterated on the official servers that he has felt the need to spend the last few weeks on this forum demanding the game be made easier for him. He will blame offline raiding today and tomorrow it will be some other excuse but a bad player remains a bad player. You have to factor in different time zones. On paper it might look smooth but reality is different.
  14. Wrong. The majority of folks like it and were actively playing the game not going on this forum and crying. The new system does everything but encourage PVP. In fact it actively discourages it by making it very expensive to buy into (war tokens are not cheap) and by limiting PVP to only a few hours per day as well as removing the element of surprise that attackers would normally have. It's a system essentially designed to hinder PVP.
  15. There is nothing wrong with being evil in a game so long as you are not cheating and by that I mean obviously using aimbots, ddosing or going under the map. I call it using strategic initiative. I will give you an example. A while ago in ARK my tribe was allied with two other tribes from the same country as mine. Opposing us was a large Chinese tribe. Now this Chinese tribe was pretty strong and we were at war with them and they were gradually winning. For me the writing was on the wall they were much better organised then we were and had more numbers. So I came up with a plan. Using a bit of google translate I managed to broker a secret deal with them in which they could attack our two allies without us interfering in exchange for some of the profits (mostly blueprints) and a long term alliance deal. Now we were pretty close with these two others. I would regularly go on their discord and chat to them and they would likewise come on ours. It was a full alliance and everyone trusted everyone. In my own tribe in the lower ranks there were people that were IRL friends with some of the people in the other tribes. So naturally things had to be done quietly, only myself and two others knew of the plan. On the night of the big attack we basically sat back and watched the fireworks. I organised a mock raid on another server so the majority of my players would be busy over there while things were happening back at home. In a slight twist of fate one of our allies managed to evac some of their loot on theirs fliers and kindly came to our base to drop it off. They were leaving the server they said and were happy to give their best stuff to us to help fight the Chinese. The irony was not lost on me. Now what we did wasn't exactly nice but who cares we profited from it and that is all that matters. We eventually ended up merging with the Chinese and forming a large tribe which then later on merged again into a mega tribe.
  16. I will tell you what pushed PVP players out this game and that is these new anti PVP changes. That is what has done the real damage.
  17. I've heard reports that a lot of PVE players haven't left the game but rather with the new changes they are moving to the new friendly PVP servers where there is plenty of free land available to base build and tame. It makes sense I guess because its basically the same thing as a regular PVE server just has a fancier name on it.
  18. As I said can you explain to me why players are not allowed to attack other players and their bases when they are online on a "PVP" server?
  19. Exactly this new system will be the death of small companies which ironically is where most of the people demanding these changes hail from. For them it will be a rather bitter irony once these changes actually sink in, once they have actually given it some thought. A small company post patch will have no freedom of action, no ability to exploit enemy weaknesses. Unable to go on the offensive and perpetually stuck in a defensive posture they will just be easy cannon fodder for larger groups. It's a shame really this game had a lot of potential but unfortunately the devs caved in to vocal minorities who don't even understand the basic mechanics of the game.
  20. Bad stuff such as? No the fact is most PVP players have left this game for greener pastures. I myself will probably head back to ARK where I can kill on sight without needing to buy some stupid token and wait an entire day. I guess there will be some PVE players still playing this game. Kudos to them I am sure base building and taming never gets old.
  21. The issue is quite simple. You join a PVP sever, you come across a base with players in it running about ie they are clearly online. Why can't I attack it. It's a PVP server after all. Why should I have to buy some expensive 50k gold token and then wait an entire day to attack someone's mud hut? No matter how you try and spin it the fact is that PVP in this game with this new patch has been watered down to the point it can no longer be truly called a PVP game. It's now basically PVE with the occasional battle. I didn't pay money for a PVE game and neither did thousands of others, that's why we're leaving and if you don't believe me check out the player counts.
  22. I won't be playing and neither will thousands of other PVP players. I bought this game because it said on the box - open world PVP game. The new patch is basically removing that because a few bad players got smashed and had a big cry on the forum. I've never played on a PVE server let alone purchased a PVE game and I'll be damned if I'm going to start playing one now.
  23. This game was advertised as an open world PVP game and now several months in the developers have come along and said nope you are not allowed to PVP anymore on PVP servers you must buy tokens and let the enemy know your coming. Is it really surprising that players have deserted this game? NOPE This is what happens when you let a small vocal minority of players on this forum dictate how the majority of players should play their game. You will find that most of these people wanting these new changes that remove PVP from PVP servers are not even proper PVP players. Several of them have stated in their own words they don't like fighting and doing PVP even though they choose to play on PVP servers. I'm human but that kind of logic is very much alien to me.
  24. You are skirting around the issue here. You are not a politician are you? As I said to the other PVE player defending this new system, how can it be that players are restricted from fighting other online players in a so called PVP server? You realize that makes ZERO sense.
  25. That guy is on record stating that he would like to see more PVE and less PVP on PVP servers. Its only natural he would come up something as ridiculous as this. He wants to play in a bubble where his feelings can't be hurt.
