  1. So how does that solve Tribe A working with Tribe B that is working with Tribe C? Technically they are different tribes in game even if they are all in the same discord server.
  2. The reason why there isn't much boarding is because of how easy it is to sink other ships compared to how it was back then. Ships in this game seem to be made of cardboard rather then solid oak. If they lowered the damage cannons do to ships or upped the damage resistance of planks you would see more boarding especially between the larger ships.
  3. I am pretty sure they offer 1 day passes if you go to their ticket booth.
  4. You are right this is what I would term a full strategic PVP game. Its not a quick game and your actions can have effects for weeks. Its the best form of PVP in that your actions inflict a real cost on the enemy that involves time and effort rather then just waiting for the next round to start.
  5. Nope I am farming for that. Farming exists on both PVE and PVP mode its a not function specific to either. PVE and PVP are like oil and water they do not go together. You can't be both a PVP player and a PVE player you are either one or the other in your case its the latter.
  6. Good luck enforcing it they tried it with ARK and it failed miserably. Unless they willing to pay admins to actively monitor servers 24/7 then its just to be an unenforceable rule.
  7. Polls are in accurate for a number of reasons. The first is obviously you are going to attract a very specific kind of person mostly that of an activist who has a keen interest in pushing a certain view. Secondly the vast majority of this game's player base do not have forum accounts so regardless of votes its never to be truly representative of anything.
  8. Men of War Assault Squad 2 is a very solid WW2 game. It is a hybrid RTS/Third Person strategy game that features tanks, artillery and infantry with realistic armor penetration values. You buy your vehicles and troops with manpower points then must capture flags like Battlefield which generate victory point in order to win. As the game goes on the amount of manpower points you get goes up until it reaches the max for the game and then you don't get anymore after that. This results in a game where you start off with cheap and weak units and steadily advanced to more expensive ones. The control scheme in that game lets you drive tanks using wasd and rotating the turret using mouse control. Its easily the best semi realistic WW2 RTS game that I have played. Highly recommended if your into WW2 games.
  9. No true PVP player would even contemplate playing PVE, the mere thought of that is repulsive. Clearly he is mostly a PVE player that dabbles in a bit of PVP here and there.
  10. You've let the cat out of the bag with that one Mr PVE. I find it funny players like you that that try to build beautiful bases on PVP. It always ends in tear every time. I played 3 years of ARK and every time some new group would join the server I would go past their base and that would tell me in an instant what kind of player I would be dealing with here. By looking at the buildings, how they have placed, what they have done what they have not done, what they tamed, you can get a pretty good insight into the mentality of that player/tribe. It was always very easy to spot the players that had come from a PVE server or had a PVE "background". They always started off huge. A large grid of foundations, a very big ambitious base but often in a poor choice of location far from resources. The design itself was always entirely non functional and pointless. From little quaint medieval towers that created blind spots to glass walls so they could admire the view. They stood out like black sheep. More often then not they wouldn't even add any kind of defenses to their monstrosity and those did so placed them so poorly in most cases that you could just run up to the base of the walls and be safe. It always a breeze to raid a base made by a PVE player. Not only would the defenses be weak or non existent but when you broke through to the vault room to find 20 vaults they would be all neatly labelled complete with signposts telling you exactly what is in each. It was so easy it was criminal.
  11. As I said in several posts this game has many different facets to it and one of them is the art of diplomacy and using strategic initiative to gain the upper hand. At the end of the day when it comes down to it your allies are expendable especially if its the difference between your tribe coming out on top or losing out. I am more then prepared to cast them to the wind in that situation and I am sure they would do likewise to us given the opportunity. These kind of games are very fluid you have to adapt and change with the prevailing winds.
  12. I have never said I purposefully offline raid people but rather I will raid any base that I can regardless if owner is online or not. You are clearly getting confused between a minority of players that wait for someone to go offline and the majority of players that just attack and if the owner isn't there then too bad.
  13. I have never been in a tribe that has been insided while I was a part of it.
  14. You are very much missing the point here. You have 5 players they have 50. If you use superior tactics its quite hard to to come out on top against such odds. Also surprise/sneak attacks does not automatically translate into "offline attacks", no rather it means that you attack your enemy when and where they are at their weakest. Against a larger/mega tribe that would mean an outlying island where there is only a few players of theirs online or you attack a base that hasn't finished building its defenses and so forth. Basically it means you adopt a more tactical strategy rather then simply sailing into the wind head long at an enemy that out numbers you.
  15. Yep. Not only that but in Colonies it will be much harder as a small tribe to do well. They can no longer launch sneak or surprise attacks on the more numerous mega tribes. Their only option they have in that mode is to launch a frontal assault against superior numbers and a much wealthier tribe. Just about anything tactician will tell you that is something in the laws of war that you must never do.
  16. The buff is actually very powerful but a lot of the time its easier just to kill self rather then bothering with it. I suspect with this rework, when you die maybe your vitamins will start really low, either that or they'll remove the start timer for vitamins.
  17. Offline raiding is really an exaggerated issue. Most players do not purposely raid someone because they are offline, it just so happens that then they are sailing around in their ship and they sight some base that looks easy. Most players are going to want to raid it regardless if someone is home or not. It's fair enough, no wants to sit around waiting for the owner to come back that is boring. The part with this new mode that many players have an issue with is this "window" feature. You can't give the player base a new server, class it as "PVP" and then only allow for PVP for one third of the day ie the majority of time its PVE. That is absolutely not a PVP server. What is even worse is that even if the owner is home and you can see him running around his base, you still can't attack them. Its gone from this flimsy "offline raiding" excuse to full blown protectionist, safe space, can't even raid when the owners are online quasi PVE mode. No matter how some folks try and spin it this mode is about having less PVP and more PVE on "PVP" servers. That is the bottom line.
  18. Some good points but I have to say I disagree strongly with #2. I'm in a mega tribe currently but in the past I have been in much smaller tribes (5 players) and I have to say if someone was asking me for advice on how to improve their PVP and I only had two options - Megas or Small tribe, I would tell them Small tribe every time. Small tribes will teach you very important PVP tactics that you won't really get from being in a mega tribe. When you are in a mega tribe, combat is a lot easier because you can rely more on your buddies and your numbers to win the fight. In a small tribe you can't so as a result you have learn to be self sufficient and self reliant. Often you will rely more on careful planning and good strategy and diplomacy rather then brute force. I also find from my own experience that people that join mega tribes straight away without first playing in a smaller tribe tend to pick up bad habits such as being overly reliant on expensive gear, a general lack of discipline when it comes to teamwork and overall quite lazy. Mega tribes though are good if you want to be a more generalist player. They will teach you things like the current PVP meta, the best ways to farm, what the current best built strategy is so on. They are good source of general knowledge especially if you are a new player as there is a lot of information sharing. PVP though in a mega tribe is more about logistics and organisation, that's the main factor that affects their battles.
  19. Clearly you have little to no actual experience playing ARK. Sure if you sit in a mega tribe your whole life picking weeds and then ride some super bred Bronto during an occasional battle, there probably isn't much skill involved. On the other hand if you choose to play the game on foot with little to no dino support and fight larger tribes and so successfully then it takes a lot of skill, a lot planning and a good understanding of the game mechanics to come out on top. Atlas compared to ARK atm definitely requires less skill. The combat is much slower paced and the foot combat is bad enough especially with rego that there is a lot of random luck as to what happens. Overall this game is much more simplified then ARK. There is less choice, less options and the way the character skills and stats work it more or less forces everyone to be fairly similar compared to highly specialized chars that existed in ARK.
  20. Preventing players from renaming their company will only really affect those that are legit companies with static bases to begin with. If you have a small guerilla force and all you have is some throw away ships, its of no concern. Leave company, make new one and then you have a new name. Very easy.
  21. When they tried the whole ORP thing in ARK initially they let folks set pin codes even though I and others more or less stated on the forum what would happen come release. Then they released it and sure enough everyone was complaining about people using safe storage. They eventually fixed it by not allowing pin codes at all which is probably the only real solution but in any case the mode still failed because the whole idea is a dud. I never played it myself but from what I read of others complaints on the forum, due to the offline thing players would strategically log out at the first sign of a fob appearing and as there was a lot of un-raidable bases spammed everywhere on the map lag was pretty bad as was finding a suitable place to build not to mention the resource blocking.
  22. I've survived several mortar shots that would have otherwise ripped out my steering wheel and masts due to armor in particular top armor. Armor makes a significant difference in PVP if placed correctly.
  23. This is so easily exploitable its not funny. Ah the things people will do on this forum to try and avoid PVP. Quite amusing.
  24. Your trying to dodge the core issue and its not working. We all know settlements will be where the majority of folks on that server will be playing and for those folks they can't get any PVP for two thirds of the day. That is mighty disappointing for a so called "PVP" server.
  25. I don't have any problem with mega tribes ruling the game (disclaimer: I am in one atm) as that is a logical outcome. I do have a problem though when developers try and limit people's freedom to engage in PVP in an open world game because of a few cry babies on the forum. Thankfully they have now reversed course but none the less it should have never even been considered to begin with.
