  1. This is the first time I have seen a post on it. If nobody told the devs maybe this is the first time they are hearing of it.
  2. I play PvP for the human competition. I play it to help my team kick the enemy's team rear end. Skills are neat and all, but they get in the way of the content I want to pursue and thats the human created content. Missions, SoTD, FoY, etc are all small aspects of the game to me. Many people in my company think this way. The beauty of these games are the choices. We choose the content we want to enjoy. We are given a wide variety to choose form. I hope they do not make the skill tree a time consuming grindy mess. At this time the game is alpha. How do they test skills if they make it takes months to achieve? We're in alpha. Make it cheap and easy to get so we use it. Gives the devs more data points to work from to improve the game. I cannot stress the last part enough. This is an alpha. Rarely do alphas have a ton of content when they start. Most games are still adding content through the beta process and these days even after a game goes gold new content is still being added. A lot of content can be added the next two years and after release.
  3. Forums are a crappy place to discuss this stuff. It always devolves into the same messy crap. I come here for the info and entertainment for the most part and toss some serious ideas out there once in awhile in the off chance the right set of eyes sees it.
  4. You could have just called him a name back and gotten the same effect.
  5. Before you start tossing my name around take a look at my suggestions. If you expect me to support every single word out of your mouth and wipe your arse then take a hike. I support ways to mitigate offline raiding. Naval engagements are a lot of fun and I'd prefer to see more of them so if ships need to be better protected while companies are offline then I support it. Allowing companies complete and utter ship protection is NOT something I want. You think mega's are bad now. Imagine them if they could pump out an endless supply of ships that can be protected. I shudder to think about it. "Oh look we sunk 10 of little Jimmy's brigs and here he is with number 11. He only sinks 1 ship for every 10 of his lost, but we just can't keep up with those numbers." 300% bonus to anchored ships is a start. Again look at my drydock suggestion. The biggest thing is the ships HAVE to stay ingame and take up room, require resources to maintain/protect. They have to be put somewhere and they all cannot be protected. Mega's would simply stockpile hundreds of ships and anyone fighting them would simply succumb to the endless onslaught of protected ships even if their company is superior in PvP tactics. I don't want to see that. I want to see smaller companies use superior tactics and skill to beat larger companies. Need to find that balance.
  6. How do you patch out human behavior? Many games do this and thats why they suck. People like me flock to games with no rules, more options, but then human nature destroys it. The balance here is on the tip of a needle the size of a single atom. Good luck!
  7. A game I used to play had an interesting mechanic for this. Open world PvP but destroying buildings was a bit more involved. I don't know how well this would work for this game. I like it in Shadowbane, but nervous how much it would change this game. I cannot predict the outcome. Just spitballing here to see what people think. Shadowbane used "Bane stones". Bane stones cost a decent amount of gold and time to create. These were used to attack your enemies. 1. Roll (build) bane stone. 2. Take bane stone to enemy fortress and place bane stone. (If you are killed before you place it then it can be stolen.) 3. Enemy nation is notified of this bane stone placement. 4. Enemy nation has a time period (24-48 hours? don't remember) to pick a time for this bane stone to go live. Attacking nation is notified when you choose time so they can prep for the coming battle. The times allowed gave the attacker a preference for the day(s) the battle would happen, but the defender got to pick the time it started. Example: We place bane stone on a Wednesday so the fight would happen on the weekend, but defender choose early morning which is good for them, but bad for us...but better then a weekday when everyone is at work. 5. At selected time bane stone goes live. All buildings around Tree of Life (spawn point and protector of surrounding buildings) are now susceptible to damage. 6. Battle does not end until either the Bane Stone is destroyed or the Tree of Life (protects buildings) is destroyed. Claim flag is the equivalent here.
  8. The sad part is you guys think things can be fixed with such poor information being supplied. You want it fixed? Supply more info. Screen shots. Locations. Player and environmental conditions. Location info for issues like this is VERY important. The terrain itself might be the cause and unless you ID that location they cannot fix it. Its like going to a doctor saying "something wrong" and then getting mad at the doctor for not being able to help. Also there is a bug forum here for the bugs. Handy info in there. https://www.playatlas.com/index.php?/forums/forum/75-bug-reports/
  9. I think its funny that some of these suggestions are in the patch notes for v19.
  10. Cannons using gunports should get a buff or cannons not using them get a debuff. Would change the meta we see with cannons all over the front and rear ends of ships. Most ships I see now do not use gunports.
  11. The last several weeks(probably goes back to release) when wearing armor around large bases I get a lot of FPS drops (below 10fps) when running around and turning while wearing armor. Most of the time I see quick spikes in HDD activity. If I take the armor off my framerate becomes much more stable and my average FPS rises. I still get these drops, but a lot less often and not as severe. Put armor back on and it immediately comes back. Spinning around usually creates this every single time. I thought this was related to my video card (GTX970) so I upgraded to a 1080ti and I am still seeing it. I've tried different driver versions and played around with overclocking my video card, RAM and CPU. Back at stock settings now and most current Nvidia drivers. Has anyone else noticed this? Seems most pronounced around large bases/garages. RIG: I7-3770K @ stock and 4.2ghz OC 16gb RAM - 8gb X 2 DDR3 @ 1600 Micron BX500 500gb SSD 1080ti OR GTX970 Windows 10 Build 1809
  12. How does one know if a hack was used to get the PIN for storage chests? If a company is using a common PIN it is quite possible this was leaked by mistake or on purpose. We've been the beneficiaries of this as poor leadership in other companies causes fractures and discontent.
  13. Not that I am aware of. It just has a time limit at its location and once that's reached it moves to another zone.
  14. I have not either. I assume the amount of time it would take to tame an animal at that level has to be a huuuuuuuuuge time sink.
  15. A Larger gate would be nice. At this time you would have to build a huge garage with an open side. Park the boat and then quickly build a wall using couple hundred stone walls. When you want to use it again you demolish the wall to take it out. Fun.
  16. Oops somehow my post ended up in the wrong thread. I agree claim flag mechanics suck.
  17. If its dry docked it would take quite a bit of time and resources. Sure they destroy it quicker then it takes you to build it, but they also have to spend the time to farm the resources needed to make the cannonballs. Its not perfect, but it does increase the time investment and resource investment needed to tear a ship down to its frame. The option I see beyond this is a new structure that can be plopped down like a shipyard. Ships sail to it and go inside. Once all players are off the captain can "park it" or whatever term you want to use and it goes away thus allowing more ships. Cap the garage space at something reasonable so it cannot hold infinite ships and provide some way to "unaprk a boat" for use. Make the structure very very strong. Stronger then anything else in the game so it would be a huge time/resource sink to destroy. I dunno what options are there? I see complaints about this every day with few answers.
  18. How do you sink a ship that has not released yet?
  19. Another work around for now is to have someone swim behind you and hit you with a spyglass. I know its dumb, but it works. Having said that I do agree gold should weigh less. I'd love to sink a gallon with a couple hundred thousand gold on it.
  20. Removing the risk for people like Captain Scotch here seems like a good step forward. As to Dimes response I think the addition of a player ran market will help alleviate that when v19 is released. I mentioned this in another thread.....maybe we should allow ships to re-enter a dock and dry dock again. If people want to spent the time blasting every single panel off a ship let them expend the resources to do so. Cost a ton more then breaking one panel and sailing away while the ship sinks. Its not perfect, but takes more time and resources for the aggressor. This should reduce drive-bys as many people won't bother and reduces the effectiveness of sloops with a single cannon sinking larger ships.
  21. I have not done this yet, but came close several times. Confirmation windows for anything that is irreversible is a industry best practice in games and OS/software in general. We are human after all.
  22. You are right you do not. You can be apart of an alliance or rent land from someone and do your own thing. The options are there. You can move up north and be on your own with no guarantees either way. I spent years in Eve. While I see many parallels to it I do not see how you port over high sec and null sec zones and the other assorted siege mechanics without some very bad side effects without careful consideration. How do you prevent people from using "highsec/freeport" areas as a base of operations to hit zones next door and a few sectors in. I can see that being a huge issue. If a Eve like solution can be implemented that does not drastically alter the game I am all for it. This is not directed at anyone in this thread per se, but I do see lots of complaining, lots of this is broke or this sucks with no alternatives. No solutions. When the dev team decides to change something deemed "broke" and nobody offers a good solution that the community backs they make up their own crap and most of the time its just that. Crap. Happens for pretty much every damn game I ever alpha/beta tested or even with release games.
  23. Someone in my company fast traveled to the Freeport nearby and built a sloop. Once he got there he announced it to the Company and we all start spawning in. There were at least 20-30 other people around the island (this was last week) and it took me 4-5 tries. After I got the hang of it I made the run and snuck in. Had to dodge some creatures and time my jumps and crouches, but I made it. Overall I enjoyed it. Dying to crocs before I even got to the cave was annoying, but I learned their behaviors and how to avoid them using the terrain. Next time should be easier.
