  1. Most notably for the last Ark dlc, which was a disaster and definitely should have been delayed.
  2. If you’re gonna quote George Carlin, you should really give him credit. Sorry I gave at the office.
  3. The map is developed by the team that did Crystal Isles for Ark. It is very likely not the reason anything is being delayed.
  4. I’m out. Maybe but Atlas mail doesn’t offer service from Montana BFE cabins Ted.
  5. Everyone does not think that. You + Realist (who does not own the game) is not equal to everyone. Not even close. But as someone who has 4K hours in Ark on both official and unofficial servers I can tell you unequivocally that in my experience the vast majority of Ark players despise pillar spam. Pillar spam was an issue only on Ark official pve servers, of which there were about 500. Total Ark servers for most of its life have numbered over 30k, so the pillar spam issue was present only on a tiny fraction of them. What is disappointing is Grapecards lack of effective or creative solutions to an issue they’ve been aware of for literally years. Ark is a great game but not without its flaws, and pillar spam is one of them.
  6. I third it, having run an Ark cluster for over a year.
  7. Nope. Ark’s numbers have fluctuated but stayed largely steady over the years. Official release was September 2017 and while steam does show a 25% spike that month, it was a spike that the game mostly lost in the next 2 months before the Christmas spike in December that every game gets. It’s numbers increased on release sure, but only incrementally and well within the bounds of similar fluctuations the game has seen in its lifespan. Atlas is frankly more of an open question at this point. It’s numbers have done little but decline since EA launch. The good news is that both Ark’s success and the high number of units sold during the launch phase (steam spy puts it between 1 and 2 million) *should* mean that Grapecard can continue to fund Atlas’s development unhindered for quite some time. The current low numbers should not be an immediate problem the way they likely would be for less established indies in terms of being able to keep the doors open. For Wildshot the bigger long term problem is the negative reputation the game’s disastrous launch left it saddled with. When your game’s launch is so bad that mainstream outlets like Variety and not just industry press are reporting on it, something has gone more than a little bit wrong. That is a pretty big hole to claw your way out of. It’s not that it can’t be done, just that it’s neither typical nor comparable to Ark except by contrast.
  8. I second this unofficial patch name.
  9. I'm not an expert by any means, but my general understanding is that in contrast to Ark (in case you played it) which had some of the heaviest demands on graphics cards of any game out there, that MMO's like Atlas lean more towards demand on the cpu. I have a 1060 as well and do fine on fps, but I also have an i7 8700k CPU. The good news is either way the mega patch is supposed to include a significant performance upgrade, so even if you do nothing, things should improve. I would advise waiting to see how that goes, then if you still feel like you want to upgrade, depending upon your cpu, you might want to look there first. Also if anyone with greater technical knowledge tells you something different, ignore me and listen to them.
  10. He’s waiting for console.
  11. Okay but the statement I quoted strongly implies the argument presented. Also the evidence shows that Ark players are playing Ark, and at best a small fraction of them are here bitching about Atlas, so that also is not a supportable statement based upon available evidence. Further your assertion that Ark is dying is also unsupported by available evidence. Ark has remained in the Top 20 steam games for nearly it's entire existence of about 4 years, often in the Top 10. There is no evidence in player activity to support the notion that Ark is a dying game. Individual servers may die, but given that Ark is made up of literally thousands upon thousands of servers, what happens to any particular server is of little consequence in this regard.
  12. They are. Ark is currently ranked 13 of the thousands upon thousands of games on steam by player activity. The argument that it’s a shit game because no one is playing it simply does not hold water. You may not like Ark and you’re certainly entitled to your opinion, but if you arguing it’s quality based on the number of people playing it, the evidence is not only contrary to your assertion but overwhelmingly so. https://steamcharts.com/top
  13. Shhhhhh. There are only certain things you can mention on the interwebs. Start talking about that stuff and you’ll just attract the attention of the people behind the NSA who put the Easter Island statues up. I’ve said too much already. They’re probably tracing this post as we speak. If I disappear, look for the key to my safe deposit box under the rock in the same field Andy left Red the note. You remember the name of the town don’t you?
  14. You fool! Use string theory. Do I have to explain everything?
  15. Right, because we can all relate to a quadruple amputee with no face whose only means of communication with the outside world is tapping Morse code against his headboard when we’re stuck in an elevator. Brilliant!
  16. Because this genre of game is not designed to be single player. MMO stands for massively multiplayer online. Atlas is not the first MMO. there are many others as the genre started with Everquest over 20 years ago. Your progress is saved however since the game is in Early Access and still being developed, there is a planned wipe coming up soon that you should be aware of. All characters and existing structures will be deleted on the 20th (maybe) and the game will restart from zero.
  17. On first reading the first thing that jumps out as a potential problem is tenants who get hosed if the countdown reaches zero and their stuff gets destroyed. This seems like a scenario that is possible but unlikely given they should have the same opportunity to buy as anyone else. Otherwise this sounds pretty workable to me.
  18. If you suggest that the wipe and patch should be further delayed so that you can spend more time cruising around the PTR to find the perfect beach house location, I will pvp you. You will get one week and you will like it young lady! Also I don’t speak Russian.
  19. Okay wow the five times repeat post wasn’t me. Some kind of forum fluke.
  20. Shut up, it’s all your fault. Shut up, it’s all your fault. Shut up, it’s all your fault. Shut up, it’s all your fault. Shut up, it’s all your fault.
