I found turning the camera around to point back and then use “k” to point it forward. It cuts them down a lot since they mainly spawn where the player camera is facing... Idk if its just a fluke but works for me anyways.

When you die if your bed is missing just click on the island you died on. Then click respawn current region and run back to your boat. my bad saw you were talking about out to sea... disregard
