  1. Patch notes say its a known bug that it may quit jumping after crossing grids... Maybe thats it?
  2. @Enki Anunnaki lots of people care about PvE. Don't forget my friend, that even PvP benefits from having robust environmental challenges. Historically what decided how many battles were fought? The environment. How did mankind become the dominant creatures on this planet? Partly, by mastering the environment. How are scientific advancements made, by thorough testing and discussion or a fight to the death? By BOTH methods actually. If you prefer tea, is there something wrong with me prefering coffee? @Nacona I've heard on the PvE servers you just slip between the towers and destoy it with a bear or something. I've heard of reward ranges between a few hundred gold and 55k. I have NOT personally verified that though since my group is doing fine via trade, mapping, diving, whaling, killing SotD & friendly networking.
  3. @Highlancer179 Perhaps its downloading last nights patch?

@c0dster Try finding an island and leave a sign with some contact info or If theyre willing to accept settlers, usually they'll have an island message with contact info for getting in touch with them.. Just be aware that no owner is under any obligation to accept, so, if you find someone taking Settlers I would make it a point to try to develop good relations with them At some point the claiming system is going to be adjusted by the developers Good Luck
  5. This will get ya started, its still evolving though. Good luck https://www.playatlas.com/index.php?/forums/topic/118742-market-error-„trade-failed-internal/&tab=comments#comment-515054
  6. I had exactly the opposite experience in PvP last season. Unless something has changed, one of the most devastating aspects of battle was when a couple of tiny level 100s board the ship, hiding behind shields as big as their body, with 400+ hit points and blueprinted armor, and proceed to slice through your npcs on the swivels and sails... Usually took ~2 minutes for a ship to become dead in the water if you couldn't immediately repel the attackers. The swivels, when mounted on the deck for defense, generally performed poorly unless the attacker was naked and low level.
  7. What? The PvP mechanics on this game suck. Several issues I'll mention.. 1.I played PvP last season and it was an ugly, laggy shitshow due to all the puckle and cannon spam. 2. Everyones paranoid about being insided (theres only like 5 permission/ access settings) meaning i have to spend hours defining access settings, telling each fucking npc to ignore group whistles, aggressive/passive etc.. 3. There's hardly any educational information, meaning, even if i do recruit people we have to spend hours bringing them up to speed explaining all this games nuances... My best friend noped the fuck out after 1 night. He has a job... Think of when you first learned Poker. You didn't play with your entire fucking investment portfolio on the line, you played with pennies or fake chips. This game doesn't have that, except, maybe if you count Single Player or PvE. Unfortunately it doesn't work though, because single player is broken as fuck, with terrible AI, and nobody feels like starting from scratch once they've spent all the time grinding on PvE. Under the current game model, only during a wipe, generally, do people consider switching. This brings the final point I'll add before wrapping up.. 4. @Gortok & @Nami keep developing the main game but add a Battle Arena already . Let solos, duos & trios (or more) dip their toes in the water with ZERO grind. Not only would this expand the player base AND provide valuable development data, but could even generate additional revenue with a simple 5 second advert upon death.. I've done enough good faith consulting for the day, I'm out (drops the mic) PS @jonbernth48 & @Vies this game is still undergoing development, hopefully in the next few months the developers will be able to adjust the claim system on official so that new players aren't shut out in between major adjustments. I suggest skimming the forums when convenient, especially Announcements, and finding someone on PvE who doesn't mind mentoring, simply because this game is quite complex but has TONS of potential and is quite fun. Theres alot of ways to accomplish the goal of getting gold for a ship. They range from grinding flotsam, sunken treasure and whaling to trading to breeding animals. Theres also treasure maps. Some companies will build ya a ship right now if you just run some errands for them. I hear raiding tax banks on the control points is a lucrative thing now. Unfortunately building farmhouses and warehouses isn't a likely solution on PvE since most spots have been gobbled up. Its on the development itinerary though
  8. @Twitchy1992 Nice post Only thing i can add off the top of my head, which I'm sure you could corroborate, is that flintlock pistols should double as clubs. The metal on the handle wasn't just intended for decoration, it was there in case you didn't have time to reload, powder got wet, missed, etc. Just configure it so that if the pistol is empty, a power hit (y + right trigger on console) initiates a massive torpor & damage swing... This could obviously be possible with the butt of the various rifles as well..
  9. So Im hearing that the trade radius has expanded out 1 grid, is that corrrect? My market is generating consistent gold and all types of wood so i havent messed w it... May go to PvP again next wipe, anyone care to offer some insight on how that's going?..
  10. @Chucksteak Actually I'm asking because some of us were trying to do the V1, on a Sunday, for the submarine. 90+ people in the grid. PvE Someone kept firing off the V2, cockblocking attempts to pull the V1. Arguments erupted etc.. Thats why I initiated the poll..
  11. What do you think? I'm referring to official servers, not private..
  12. Seriously GENIUS idea. GREAT business model.... 1. Give away your ad revenue 2. PAY to have someone monitor the activity for someone elses business 3. Give away all your user data 4. Probably have to pay for a business account... Meanwhile leave the Official Forums dusty and have an out of date wiki & tutorial...
  13. I use this site https://antihax.github.io/
  14. Bummer. Never had a pet Parrot... Sounds like a bug maybe.. Only other thing I can think of is attack stance... Set to passive? Attack my Target?.. maybe it went down in a blaze of..feathers.. defending ya? or Drowned during swim?...
  15. After i got a small base, forge, and a small shipyard i managed to get 5k in ~8hours by building a whaling/diving sloop. Put every level into weight Add a diving platform Carry about 250 ballista bolts Start w 2 ballistas, add a 3rd Dont forget a bed, small chest, and a resource chest, carry just a bit of wood, thatch & fiber, zero metal If your speed falls below 6 knots park and wait for wind Dont recommend diving in Polar Regions (killer whales) Have a backup diving sloop in a box if bad luck occurs. Luckily never happened to me. This was on PvE btw Good luck.
  16. @Braxton McCoury Thats what the "thanks" button is for..
  17. @Unspoken Did you have a feeding trough on the boat? Sotd destroy it? I remember i had a horse fall over and die all of a sudden while sailing... Then i realized I forgot to put a feeding trough on the ship
  18. @Braxton McCoury Earlier today i couldn't demolish my cargo racks. Wasn't listed as an option in the radial. Rebooted my xbox and the option came up. Try rebooting console/ pc?
  19. "Previously we discussed a rework on the Claim System. Originally, we intended to introduce this by the end of this year. As things move in development and new challenges present themselves, timelines and ideas can often change. We are still working on the new Claim System’s implementation and testing it. It will likely not be introduced until early next year. Many were concerned that a rework of the Claim System would bring about a wipe. Although wipes are inevitable in EA, we also do our best to wipe only when it is absolutely necessary. At this time there is no estimated or set date for a wipe and we will keep the community updated if that changes. As the last patch of the year, the ATLAS team will be setting sail for a small holiday break. The next scheduled patch will be the week of January 11. However, we will continue to perform daily server restarts and we will have our spyglass handy to watch out for any urgent issues that may require our attention. Otherwise, pass us your Kegs and some glasses please! Happy Holidays! " This is the most recent statement from devs regarding your question under Announcements/ Patch V519.5 Maybe discord has something I dunno.. Good luck
  20. @Garfi sorry but.. Actually having also worked with the infastructure, for a Fortune 100 ISP, it was considered a well known fact that the dramatic rise of video streaming over the last decade accounted for as much as 80% of internet traffic during peak periods. People off work equals more of this.. and gaming etc.. Add to that the plethora of smart devices and apps now CONSTANTLY connected (siri, smart watches, phones, doorbells etc) and I'm pretty sure the residential usage dwarfs the business usage.. Sorry don't have an actual citation friend Also don't forget those gift cards being used for online shopping..
  21. Theres also this in the 12/21/20 V519.5 patch notes/ Announcements Previously we discussed a rework on the Claim System. Originally, we intended to introduce this by the end of this year. 22. @actionandy99, @Pant, @Dev Crusher, @Garfi, @McDangles Found it. Its under the 11/24/20 Sailing Forward Q&A/ Announcements.. We are looking into rebooting the original claim system that allowed players to take over a section of the island. This is done by placing down a claim structure that takes longer to build and is more robust than a claim flag. It may also have its own defenses. Once fully built, it will have to be destroyed for you to lose your claim and everything that goes along with it. We are not completely reverting back to the old claim system, but will be taking the original concept and building off of it. We are currently still testing some ideas.
  23. @De4thunter14 As far as i know oceans & blackwood are the only 2 maps. The Ocean Map was reorganized around the same time, i think, so maybe that is what your actually looking for? You can double check the info around the same time period on this website under Announcements/ Meet the Crew Gotta go.. Good luck & have fun
  24. @Pant Just to clarify, my initial point (please scroll up) wasn't advocating for @McDangles vision of how the game should be designed. I have my own vision. I was simply pointing out to eeeceee that it was obvious that he's clearly familiar w Atlas PvP. Please scroll up to my initial remarks to eeeceee and let me know if you agree. Also I said the risk vs reward was skewed incorrectly. I didn't say to remove it. This also gets into the territory of subjective opinion, specifically, how much risk vs how much reward. Also definitions come into play here. Also the games target audience factors in. I'll try to tie it up w a simple example.. Losing 3 hours of grinding in a fight might be an acceptable risk for the "reward" of a fun fight to one person, however, for another person it may be an unacceptable time investment requirement for the "reward" of a fun fight. @Pant I think we can both agree neither person is "wrong" in their opinion... Lets take it one step further even, everything could stay exactly as is w the game BUT a simple lobby could be added w a PvP arena. Zero grind required but @McDangles and I get to battle eachother w equally equipped ships. We can agree many people would find that fun i think, no? On several points we're in agreement. Specifically current PvP mechanics. If you feel like elaborating on what you like about the risk/ reward, i value your opinion.
  25. @eeeceee that sentence right there implies familiarity. Also eeeeceee I'm not the only person who generally ignores you, and it's not anyone playing dumb. Its because YOU think the RANT you just delivered is how to have a conversation. It's not. Second correction for ya bud, MOST PvPers have quit the game. Your describing the old guard that still remain. Furthermore your contradicting yourself, meaning, OF COURSE PEOPLE START FIGHTS ON PVP...ITS..... P V P. Fighting other players IS PART OF THE CONTENT BY DESIGN.... Final correction for ya bud, FFA PvP isn't inherently flawed, its all about implementation. For example take a FPS PvP game w a FFA Arena, if I can't spawn in because its camped then the IMPLEMENTATION is flawed, not the concept. Theres VERY successful games THRIVING w a FFA format. Its the implementation that most people feel is flawed, not the format. @McDangles, @Dev Crusher, @Garfi, possibly OP and myself would love to be able to sail the open seas and blast eachother, but theres TOO MANY FLAWS in the IMPLEMENTATION. The problems are many but generally boil down to atleast 2 things 1 The risk vs reward is skewed incorrectly 2 A base is required to be able to PvP at the desired ship level Theres a ton more but I'm not typing a dissertation. Regardarding your halfbaked personal attacks, Now, goodbye eeeceee
