  1. @Nacona I repeat I never got cheated, I did rebuild it around 5 or 6 times, usually at the request of a trade partner having an issue. I usually just assumed it was background work going on by the devs. However i experimented with markets from server launch andd just happened to quit playing just before they nerfed same item trading. Worked fine for me 99% of the time. When I needed a route i just asked out loud in chat or spoke to one of my neighbors. Never did get above I think 3? active routes i think?... Maybe 4 at the end? @Ninja of Bedlam you say your making 10-20k every 8 hours? With 1 market? @photek showing my age lol, whats KEKW mean?
  2. @Nacona 1. Last patch notes, or ones before, says they nerfed 1 for 1 (same item trading). Notes say you have to trade different materials now. Notes somewhere said the income from trading was being adjusted also. Look back a few patch notes basically. However the trade radius is getting bigger. 2. I don't know if its a bug or if I was grandfathered in but I made ~5k or more a day from trading. I just performed 2 trades over and over, ( marble for marble and softwood for softwood) 2 old friends joined my Company and did same thing you did, built a warehouse and market out in the ocean about 6 tiles away. I don't think they ever got over 800gold a day. a. They had trouble keeping it full, so it wasn't always running. This caused less efficient trading and probably led some trading partners to drop them b. Most Companies were already maxed out on routes or satisfied and scared to mess with it because things were running fine. A few other things.. Someone claimed on here that you could cheat your trading partners by setting the trades at 100 to 1 and steal all their materials if they accepted the trade (or some bullshit like that) claiming the system would use an averaged trade ratio. Never happened to me, never verified it to protect myself and I doubt its true, but, who knows... Final thing. The last "Meta" or "Exploit" that I heard of was to have 2 or 3 markets and basically rotate the materials in a circle. 1st Market accept wood for stone, 2nd accept stone for flint then 3rd trades back to 1st Market something like accept flint for wood. The OP explains it better but you get the idea. Just move them in a self sufficient circle.. May be required to stagger the trades in conjunction (since each market can handle multiple routes)... but apparently if you do it correctly it's still very profitable like before. ** edit found the Announcement Patch Notes, date Feb 10th ** This is the link to the new method thread. I have NOT verified if this works and I have zero idea if the devs will begin labeling this as an "exploit" https://www.playatlas.com/index.php?/forums/topic/119351-new-market-place-set-up/ Either way I GIVE the devs the correct solution to their problem in this thread back in January, a few posts down the thread. Also this happens to be the post where it's alleged theres a way to cheat trade partners https://www.playatlas.com/index.php?/forums/topic/119171-new-trading-system-tips-tricks-exploits-issues-and-suggestions/&tab=comments#comment-517085 Good luck
  3. @Chucksteak First off you just made me go watch Full Metal Jacket, fugger Gotta side with @PHaRTnONu and @Nacona regarding spies, insiding and the opinion that access mechanics are a pain in the ass. Some background. Both spying on and sabotaging an enemy are not only fundamental tactics dating back several thousand years, Military Institutions teach them as some of the MOST IMPORTANT tactics a leader can employ. Literally it is considered the pinnacle of military greatness to.. a. Be knowledgeable about your adversaries strengths and weaknesses, this is obtained by spying b. Then use that information to defeat the enemy via any or all of the following methods b.1. Incorporating them into your ranks without their realizing it until it's too late. b.2. Sabotage them and get them to retaliate against a party favorable to your interests. b.3. Sabotage them and leave them baffled and paranoid, ideally resulting in weakness or self destruction. b.4. If a battle is unavoidable then maneuver them into a trap or disadvantageous position. b.5. Cause them to waste time and resources whenever possible. b.6. Destroy them before they realize an attack is occurring. b.7. Spread misinformation resulting in poor decisions. ** Theres probably more but the concept is clear - win with minimum cost and risk ** I've been playing MMOPVP games around 20 years. Over the years I've been sabotaged and I've sabotaged others. Any leader who fails to employ deception as part of their strategy in war is negligent in their responsibilities. The same goes if they don't guard against it. Period. Unfortunately the anonymity provided by the internet makes it almost too easy in a video game. When I was considering recruiting and bulking up in Atlas I was probably going to begin with a "recruit company", spy on my own team members, look for negativity, poor judgement, duplicitous behavior etc before even considering a recruit for the "primary company". Most, not all, but most leaders don't want to be dictators but in any battle type situation its hard to NOT be. One lying little shithead blabbermouth can cost ya everything. So I've got mixed views on how permissions should work, gotta have SOME chaos in a MMOPVP game or go play chess... I have a solution too, but, as usual, I'm keeping it to myself. Closing example Different game, but, I remember holding back ~7 Clans, monopolising the best farming spot in my region for almost TWO YEARS, by simply not denying the rumor that we were Alts from the Biggest Mega on the server. Total bullshit ....but.... then...we...got...insided.... lol
  4. First of all, just to be clear, I'm laughing in agreement w you about the money. I only had 1 warehouse and 2 to 4 consistent trading partners and gold was not an issue. I gave away 3 schooners, 3 brigs, a galleon, over 60k, kept about another 150k+ in reserve plus I owned a brig and a gally and kept around 100 NPCs on hand. I can only imagine on PvP owning Control Points + multiple markets + multiple islands + using alts (to keep the income on all sides of the transaction) + having large groups actively farming Treasure Maps... I'm sure theres some VERY wealthy Companies.. Second whats a "War Deck"? Lastly though, I disagree w your conclusion. Remember that for some people "more" is just never "enough". Your assuming people will behave logically. Economists used to to call this the "Rational Markets Theory", I think, (I may be wrong on the name) but the important part is that its usually wrong. Theres going to be, FOR SURE, someone or group who wants to be the richest. #1 just for bragging rights or out of megalomania or to show off on Twitch etc... Like I stated in previous posts, it won't be out out of a NEED for the gold but the desire for more.. more, more, more that will move them to expand into these Lawless Tower spots... A closing example; I knew a guy on PvE who had THREE markets/warehouses to HIMSELF on PvE. He had to jam them into wierd spots and refill them quite often BY HAND when he took mat losses, because he couldn't squeeze in a farm. Guess what? He still wanted a 4th... or more.. Made zero sense to me and me being satisfied with ONE market made zero sense to him..
  5. @Chucksteak Maybe it is. Let me explain my calculation another way.. 1. In my tiny apartment I have 2 xboxs and 2 computers. I also have an old laptop. I only own 2 accounts, bought 1 for me and 1 of my kids. He didn't like it so I used it as a second account. I'm petty sure most households have atleast 1 gaming console and a computer. I've been in 5 resident houses w ~3 game systems and 2-5 computers (3 teens + parents) so Im POSITIVE some of the playerbase has 3 or more accounts. 2. Theres some way to create guest accounts on xbox and I knew 1 person who created like 5-10 guest account characters somehow in order to pad their island points. Been explained to me several times but I never got around to fucking w it. I'll restate it therefore as "Theres a sufficient number of alts available to people who need island points to be able to erect these Lawless Towers to make it easily exploitable, IF, big IF it's a requirement"
  6. Okie stud. Keep up the good work buddy. So your method would eliminate random, "unfair", fights between 3 or more people (or groups) by... 1. Penalizing large groups 2. If people decide to avoid large groups and play solo (to avoid the penalty), they ALL THREE (or more) have to switch the targeting back and forth to avoid another penalty, in the interest of "fairness", correct? Sounds kinda like the rules we used to make up during sleepover pillow-fights... Ever been in a pillow-fight @chukiki? I'm guessing pretty recently?..
  7. If they're SECRETLY allied how would the game "KNOW"? So if 3 seperate people start fighting over something, anytime 2 of them attack the 3rd, then they would take dps? Worst.... Idea... Ever... Like ever, ever
  8. @chukiki Sorry dude that won't work. The large Companies will just divide into smaller companies but share communication. Anticipating your response also, NO it cannot be enforced with bans due to the investigation costs and VPN usage.
  9. Actually its closer to 72 grids with claimable islands. You forgot to subtract.. a. GA and Kraken grids b. Lawless c. Freeports d. Yeti-Boss grids (1 claimable island.) My guess is the averaage #of "claimable" islands is closer to 2.5 times ~72 grids yielding ~180 claimable islands. A portion of those are enclosed w spammed shipyards, and more are held by well connected players alts, meaning if you build a significant presence there without permission you'll get wiped. ~10+ VERY active players required to have a chance at building and holding a well fortified island I'd guess, unless diplomacy happens to go favorable... Math.. Guess I have a weakness for pointing out blatant misinformation. Sorry.
  10. @Pant My experience is characterized as follows.. 1. I played Season 4 on PvP, season 3 & 5 PvE 2. I read everything that crosses this forum and have watched many PvP videos 3. I've played MMO-PvP games for ~25 years, as an adult, basically since the current models were invented 4. Unlike you, I LISTEN to other peoples comments and incorporate the information into my perspective. 5. I engage in DISCUSSIONS, avoiding broad generalizations and logical fallacies whenever possible, once again, unlike you. Now that being said, YOU WIN. Spew your verbal diarrhea. DGF, gotta go, got more important shit to do than deal with someone who's going to keep blurting shit until they get the last word. Buh-bye Mr Broken Pencil
  11. Been there, done that. Also in your post w @Nacona you state that you don't know how Silos work on Lawless, yet you criticize MY lack of knowledge regarding game mechanics... Buh-bye, Mr Broken Pencil, for the 3rd(?) time.
  12. @Nacona Regarding the 4 metals on 1 island it's probably not a bug. The devs stated when they built this new map that Lawless is designed to have better and more diverse resource spawns. More risk = more reward type thing. Anyone who doesn't believe me can go look it up from when the map got released. @Pant If I lack experience you lack intelligence... Having a dicussion with you @Pant is like trying to write with a broken pencil, it's pointless. Have a good day bud.
  13. @Pant 1. False 2. Who says they have to store them there? 3. Fast travel into puckle spam?... 4. Your ignoring alternate accounts. Also see rebuttal #2 Your closing statement is a broad generalization (a pattern of yours) and is derived from the 4 erroneous points listed above. I'll try this again. Goodbye Pant.
  14. @Pant 1. Lawless has better resources. Fact stated by the devs when they introduced this new map. 2. They're closer to GA. Again deliberate design stated by devs, fact. 3. If, big if, the tower has a peace timer you don't think this will put Lawless on more powerful companies radar? 4. Also, more bases equals more trade which equals more gold, correct? This would also provide incentive to gobble the land up. Final thing, it's not just about beach bobs shack, its about territory and power. I'm not talking about 20v1 griefing (actually this game is so imbalanced that its usually reversed, 1 person griefing 5-10, if you don't believe me go read the Q&A section again, THE DEVS CORROBORATE IT) You see no reason to live on Lawless whatsoever, yet many people do because it's their only option.. or they don't want to play YOUR way... or they just want to small tribe it... the list goes on and on... You say for EVERY PLAYER theres TWO UNCLAIMED ISLANDS AVAILBLE on NA PVP? Sure... I find that hard to believe. Have a good day Pant.
  15. @Pant & @Sheepshooter Can't speak for PvP but on PvE probably ~70% of the active player base lives in lawless. EVERY tile i sailed through that was claimable almost always had 1 or 2 players in it. (this icluded me lol) EVERY Lawless tile I sailed through usually had 10+ players in it. Pretty lopsided numbers if its the "shithole" you described in your other post. So I'm thinking your referring to PvP-Lawless right? Could you explain how towers would make it any less of a "shithole"? How would a tower deter a Mega from using the bases as target practice? Even w a peace phase and 3million Hps, unless the radius is large enough to exclude mortars (doubtful), whats to stop a large Company from chipping towards the tower with cannon horses and destroying it, then erecting a tower and claiming everything? When the Mega Companies, who already have ENTIRE GRIDS secured, get their foothold on the Lawless Island, what mechanic will stop them from grinding all the other residents into oblivion? Unless I'm missing something they can still spam shipyards and walls around the radius of the claim. Then as soon as the claim owner logs in and ventures out of this "theoretical-safe-space" whats going to stop griefing them into oblivion? You know 75% of hardcore players have alts right? Even requiring island points won't provide a deterrent. I wish ill upon NOONE, devs, Megas, or any other human, including you guys, but I fail to see how this isn't a death sentence for 90% of PvP Lawless unless they're affiliated with a Mega. Zero proof to the contrary has been provided to reach any other conclusion. Hopefully I'm wildly mistaken and this is a genuine game improvement, but right now, I don't see it..
  16. One final thought for the dev team.. Why did you present this feature, then have a "Q & A" with questions selected that HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FUCKING FEATURE THAT YOU JUST ANNOUNNCED? Thats like me telling you that your car just got swapped with a Tesla, then following it up with a "Q & A" about why the dinosaurs went extinct. Are you all really that fugging scatterbrained? Are you capable of focusing on ONE thing or is there some kind of issue going on? Can you walk AND chew bubblegum? No, seriously can you? Were you playing on Discord or fucking around on your cell phone when you wrote this announcement? What the fuck is wrong with you AND your staff that this "Announcement" cleared the approval process? Do you have a process?... Dimwitted, short sighted, incoherent fucking drivel...
  17. @Ferah That and the radius size will cause issues no matter how big they make it....(referring to PvE at a minimum) 1. If the radius size is small then back when I played I would probably have lost 3 out of 4 of my farmhouses. Some of the breeders will lose them all, unless their neighbor gives it back and they form an alliance or something. I squeezed the 4 farmhouses as close as the game would allow me to also. 2. If the radius size is medium or large I would own everything belonging to between 1 to 4 neighbors if my tower goes up first... Alot of people on PvE CANNOT find an island owner who will voluntarily let them settle. At one point I had 5 people squeeze in tiny little spots next to my base which had sheer cliffs at both ends of the beach. They didnt have farmhouses, warehouses or markets but they got to grind out a ship and play... Some quit, then other people took their spot... Basically ALOT of fucking players live on Lawless. Our grid consistently had over 10 players online 24/7. Often closer to 20.. One more possible issue. If I were part of a douchey, trolly Company lookin to get a bunch of free shit, control real estate and flat out grief people because its fun, I'd have Monday/Tuesday circled on my Calender. My members would be spread around various grids, in ships with gold, mats, smithys, some horses and Alt accounts. As soon as that patch went live we'd gobble up as much real estate and peoples possessions as this system would allow.. My boots would be soaked from the rivers of tears that flowed... The Q & A doesn't state any limiting factors besides gold. Anyone know any trolls?... Good luck y'all... *** I know I'm being negative, aaaand overly dramatic, I mean that last patch went smooth as butter, right? ***
  18. @Sheepshooter The fact that the DEVs provided ZERO fundamental info is grossly irresponsible. I think we more or less agree on that... Right? Also you and @Pant bring up a valid point when you state Lawless bases were already wipeable in less than 45 minutes theoretically. However... 1. Going from RAIDABLE to CLAIMABLE is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SITUATION. Apples vs oranges.. 2. As @George Catcher sort of alluded to, why drop this JUST in Lawless? How is that playerbase any different than an island owner? 9 hours a day they're theoreticaly wipeable in 45 minutes also.. If they're going to shit out something like this then do it to the fuggin island owners also.. Otherwise it makes the patch lopsided in favor of Megas AND people who find this timeframe convenient to play. This is an irrefutable fact. If the players on Lawless suddenly need to build a tower and work all of their possessions into some defined radius, then why shouldn't island owners be subjected to the same sudden twist also? It's acceptable to suddenly and VERY VAGUELY change the rules for Lawless players but Island owners are off limits? Thats a simple, steaming pile of horseshit. Good Luck y'all
  19. @Myrmidon Never personally used an NPC to steer my ship but Ive heard from multiple credible sources if you DISCONNECT, not log off, I repeat DISCONNECT, the NPC will continue sailing until the HOST TIME OUT is resolved. Can anyone corroborate or correct me on this who is specifically experienced and familiar with the nuances of having an NPC steer?
  20. The only "wipe" I foresee with this lawless claim system is casual players cleaning the blood off their asses..
  21. Ranger1k

    Wipe

@Caine & @Chucksteak Gotta corroborate Caines position, when I quit last month I had accumulated well over ~500k+ (in gold and assets) since server restart, almost entirely solo. I only had 1 market-warehouse too. Also I wasn't super efficient, I cooked meals, purchased tames with minimal haggling, gave ALOT of shit away to newbs, bred some lions for a goof, my galley was all 150%+ blueprinted... Was gonna give it away here on Forums, decided to give it to a couple of friends instead, they've been been ghosting ever since though, so I don't even know if all the food rotted, lions died etc. I'm assuming my neighbors watched like hawks and scooped up whatever was left.
  22. @Grayson & @lordkhan4444 Gave the devs about 4 posts of well deserved ridicule under Announcements On the 6th I pointed out important questions like yours Khan.. Good luck y'all
  23. @Dev Crusher I'm not laughing at you getting fucked over, I'm laughing because sometimes its the one of the only logical responses, besides anger or ignoring, to an absurd situation Maybe you could try... a. Taking the day off b. Putting an NPC on the steering wheel with a percentage of your wealth on the boat. Set that boat on a straight course hugging a grid line. Its my understanding that when you get booted the NPC will keep sailing until you log back in, syncing the accounts. Run a test with a sloop... However when the server reboots your sails will probably drop so I'm not sure this will work. c. Any boats you have with high resistance park them at a Freeport with your most valuable shit on it. Be sure the resistance is 200%-300%. My understanding is that will give you between 14 to 24 hours to get situated. I realize even if you get a tower built the person passing by will just have to destroy it, then begin the process you described, so please don't shoot the messenger . Hopefully I've stimulated some thought about solutions and perhaps another forum member can add more. Good luck my friend
