  1. I believe gum is a form of sap and comes from specific trees, unfortunately I haven't harvested any myself so can't say exactly what trees. Hopefully someone else can offer more detail.
  2. I suggest spawning in a temperate Freeport as close as possible to your friend. Ask your friend to sail to your location and while you're waiting work on crafting the basics that you need, level up and spend points on fortitude to increase temp resistance.
  3. Gonzo, but Animal is a close second
  4. Alright lets be real here. Your name is either ironic or on the nose... Muppetish. I like the Muppets and have been known to be a bit of a muppet at times . I have to admit that when I made the original post I wasn't expecting the devs to be absent for so long. I recently tried contacting Instinct to see if they have anything to say, no response. Still, I don't support abusive or offensive behaviour (especially not over a game). It seems to me that one of Grapeshots biggest mistakes was releasing so early, too late now the damage has been done.
  5. I see now that a large number of players have been through a lot with Atlas, particularly those on PC who joined at the start, and their disappointment is valid. My own feelings remain the same, I knew the risks when I chose to pay for game preview, I don't feel mislead, cheated or lied to. There have been times that I've paid a lot more for games that proved far less enjoyable, and definitely didn't live up to the pre-release hype. Hopefully Atlas will eventually reach its full potential but if it doesn't then I'll continue to enjoy it as it is.
  6. I'm not claiming to be an expert on anything and have already accepted that my original post was not the best approach. What I should have said from the start is I understand why there is so much negativity but feel the way it is expressed is less than civil. Yes there is an element of money grabbing, game development is a business and profit is the whole point. Broken promises? What game hasn't had them during development? Keeping quiet won't fix anything but how often does insulting the workers encourage them to work harder? Anyone who has ever had to deal with flak from customers/clients for the failings of management should know that rude and offensive behaviour is not the way to get results.
  7. The D Legacy, I'm not sure if you've taken the time to read all the previous replies, so just incase you haven't: yes I am new here and there is a lot I don't know about the history of the games development or everything that long term players have been through. I'm not aware of any rules or restrictions stating that new players are not allowed to voice their opinions so I see no reason to keep my mouth shut. Isn't the general discussions section intended for discussions? Finally, if you have replied to a subject without taking the time to read the previous (as it would seem you have) then you yourself have no idea what you're talking about. But perhaps you were trying to help a new member to learn the way that forums work?
  8. That's fair, I probably should have started this differently I'm not usually active on any form of social media. The negative response is understandable it's more the way that some members choose to express their feelings that I was hoping to address. Fingers crossed both the teams at Wildcard and Grapeshot will realise that they're on a dangerous path
  9. Sometimes they do and my experience so far is that those higher up rarely listen to the people doing the actual work. I'm not trying to suggest that the community shouldn't be unhappy or that we should stop highlighting the issues, just that maybe we could choose our words in a way that is constructive and not let our emotions get in the way, but I'm not here to tell anyone what to do.
  10. Sorry, I obviously misunderstood. It was never my intention to lecture or offend anyone, I just think people need to remember that the devs are also humans with feelings and most of them probably answer to someone higher up the chain. They go to work and most likely don't get much say in what they work on.
  11. I prefer to stay positive, and to be honest if you invest your life in a game then that might be why you struggle to stay positive. I've been gaming most of my life (started on NES) and I play games more often than I should, but I never let them get in the way of my real life and I never get upset about them. I hope that you all get the results that you are looking for, it's clear that we see things differently.
  12. Yes I am relatively new to the game and I don't know if all of the warnings were in place from the very start if they weren't then those of you who paid not knowing that the game might never be finished have every right to be upset. If however the warnings were in place from the very start then there is nothing to complain about. I've bought and played a lot of games over the years and as things go the price I paid for Atlas is, in my opinion, reasonable for the state that it's in. In regards to Grapeshot showing little to no interest in the feelings of the players, it is undoubtedly a bad approach to customer service and doesn't give me much hope for the future of the game. Maybe the complaints and comments about the devs performance will prompt them to change direction or maybe it will encourage them to walk away and give up. They are only human.
  13. I have to admit I didn't like the way the roadmap was presented and Grapeshot are at risk of sinking the ship before it sails, but I always knew that was a possibility. Atlas has the potential to be a great game and I will be disappointed if it fails to fulfill that potential, but that doesn't mean I'm going to throw insults at the devs. I don't agree with everything that's happening I just believe that it's important to keep things civil and in perspective.
  14. It's true we paid to play but we paid a reduced price and we had the option of a free trial (on xbox at least, not sure about other platforms). When I suggest Atlas to friends I make them clear of its current state and recommend the trial. Most games ask for full payment on pre-order with a few months maybe less of early access with no free trial option.
  15. The october 2019 captains log did state that the team would be stepping away from the forum for a while (in a roundabout way) and game development requires money. Ark is probably their best source of money at the moment so working on that makes sense. I can understand players being frustrated but all the negativity doesn't help. Atlas won't attract new players if the existing players keep complaining about it, we need to be patient and understand that it is a work in progress.
  16. I see a lot of negative comments from the community on here and I can't help thinking that a lot of you seem to be forgetting a few important details. The game is incomplete, we all know that, there is fair warning before purchase and every time we load up on the main menu. The other thing that seems to be forgotten is that devs who waste time responding to every little coment, from players who have forgotten that they knowingly choose to play pre-release, aren't working on the game. Personally I enjoy the game and am looking forward to seeing what Grapeshot have planned for full release. Be patient and if your not happy with the state of the game then just take a break until it's closer to actual launch.
  17. The game is still in preview/early access, I'm sure there will be an increase in population at full launch.
  18. How about merchants sailing to and from freeports that can either be attacked or escorted? There could also be a "reputation" system ranging from feared to trusted, with trusted captains earning higher pay from successful escorts and feared captains having a greater chance of merchants surrendering without a fight.
