  1. You make a lot of assumptions about me to tell me that I have an issue with the game, well I don't. I'm offering Ideas for improvements on this hot mess of a game. At launch 50k people played the game, 1 month later 10k players, 2 months 5k players. Claiming that you are the majority is ignorant at best, most people moved on from the game already because they can see the limitations that it currently has. MMO means massive multiplayer it doesn't mean groups of 100-500 playing against groups of 20 exclusively. I would say most people in large companies are only there because they don't want to lose everything daily. Yes I've been in large groups I've played 24 hr pvp before with I group I lead that had 120 people and we would have 30-40 people on teamspeak now discord on. We've had days where a match mattered and we went against another group that was running 30-40 people for 16hrs non stop. The game works for you, great the game doesn't work for me currently mostly my issue and yes I can join a group but I don't even play pvp currently. It doesn't mean that I cant offer solutions, mechanics changes, or lets have a hardcore PVP server with no protections and a PVE/PvP king of the hill server that offers full protections in some areas and areas with the current war timers. ( they added war timers because the majority companied that it sucked when you logged off and 10min later someone claims your base (no pvp) Its an early access game for a reason Everyone has their own idea on what pvp means For me its when I'm online fighting against other players that are currently playing. For some its I'm online and I destroyed that company while they slept. For some its we over came their base planning/ defenses and won. All are valid opinions and all deserve a place in the game, but just my opinion There a good quote out there for pvp and that is, The view from the top is all Roses.
  2. Yea any balance change will help larger companies, but at the same time will give small companies a chance to save stuff. I'm trying to think of when the game get a full release, right now I would say based off of steam logins the Population is less than 2-3K on the official servers. Lets say population in pvp triples and each zone has 30-40 people what would be the chance your progress is safe nightly. there are a lot of other ways to they could make PvP more attractive to the mass players. Limit company size to 20-30 people No alliances 10 - 15 ship max limit per company for all zones ( quality is better than quantity approach)
  3. I posted in another thread but thought about it more since this talks about offline protection. What if the devs changed the map to have the 4 edge grids PvE, the rest of the islands pvp but break it up to different levels of protection ending at the H8 zone which would have a large land mass with all resources but no protection timer and make an incentive to hold that island. Have very few free ports and allow spawning in at any pve grid. This would allow companies that got destroyed in the pvp grids an area to fall back to with protection while working their way to the center and give the players that want offline protection or frankly have lives outside of a game a place to build a ship not lose it in a few hours go fight other players.
  4. You can still have your pvp server, I'm talking about creation of a new server with mixed pvp/pve. The point is to try to create a more balanced pvp experience, not wait until a timer then offline another player and their base but travel into a zone where at any point you can be attacked ship sunk or maybe claimed by another company. This also gives players the chance to build a stronger/ more durable ship and not have those locked behind large companies that play 24/7. To me this game is a pirate ship game, but creating a game that you are forced to play every day for 7-8hrs to make sure you don't lose your progress doesn't appeal to a lot of people. Steam active users has around 6k daily players split between private, official pve and official pvp. down from 50k 1 year ago. I've played 24/7 capture point pvp for the last 8 years, not full loot like atlas but in every game the same topic comes up and that's coverage. You had to have a team for US West coast, US east coast, EU, Asia and Pacific. Didn't need to be a lot of people but for EU thru Pacific if you have 10-15 people you could give the start of US prime time a huge advantage. If you want to hold discussion offer solutions and counter points. the original post talks about the danger of base building when it can be destroyed at any time, but at the same time you cant keep a ship since its destroyed every night. My solution was a mix map, place to build ships in safety and a place to fight. 10% pvp zone is just a number can be 50/50 40/60 or anything. Could make a circular map pve on the outer 4 zones with H8 replaced with an island with all resources on it and no safe timer ( aka king of the hill company that holds it the longest per month get a shout out from the devs in a post or something) As you move closer to the center safe timers get shorter etc. spice things up
  5. I know the devs mentioned this awhile ago but how about merging the pve side and pvp side of things. I play PvE as I play solo and I don't have time to babysit buildings and ships in pvp. My solution is have the PvE map with the full benefits of safety but then make 10% of the grids full player PvP. That way players can build bigger and better ships then sail into a pvp zone to duke it out with other players.
  6. Personally full island claims should be removed from PvE. Either replace it with claimable zones on the islands where only your company can build. Lose the claim, you lose the base, this way they still have their gold sink and they can make island zones 1-5 points. small companies get 1 point ( 1-5 people) mid size companies get 2- 4 points( 6-99 accounts) and large companies get 5 points( 100+ accounts). It would eliminate a lot of structure blocking and allow the world to get less empty. Gold upkeep 1 point is 100g per day, 2 points is 300 g per day, 3 points is 700g per day, 4 points is 1500g per day and 5 points is 3000g per day. If a large group claims 5 1 point zones all zones are 1k gold per day, etc to keep those areas open for smaller groups. It wont solve everything but I think it will spread people out more and reduce lag in zones.
  7. Confirm, I have found it around swamps in M8
