  1. So... How are we doing? Any ETA's?
  2. Why? Harpooning only works if you have a second ship to fire upon the captured one. Its pretty fun and adds a little flavor to the game - plus it prevents people from bucketing all the way to freeport which is good.
  3. If you can't handle your ships being sunk: a) Build a better harbor b) Leave your ship in freeport and log-in every couple of hours to repair it c) Play on PVE Building ships is cheap, fast and easy. Even mythical planks are not that hard to get, the entire point of destroying enemy ships on PVP servers is getting rid of the high-level units as leveling up a ship is the most time-consuming process. That's all a part of the PVP game - impairing the progress of others and I don't see any reason this should change. The only thing they should change is the structure meshing and server infrastructure so destroying multiple enemy ships in a harbor is as smooth as it can be. You have PVE servers and private servers, I'm sure you can find something for yourself.
  4. Last time this subject was brought up GM's told us they are "looking into it" - a response that fits somewhere between "thoughts and prayers" and "as per my last email". So I wouldn't get your hopes up.
  5. Please do not balance your content around single-player. Thanks.
  6. Well, Thanks to the impromptu discord live chat after the stream players could learn a little bit more about their actual plans - mostly thanks to Dollie. I do hope, however, that they will learn from this and next dev streams will be live, will contain actual information, and answers to actual questions. I don't mind vague meaningless streams that are nothing more than glorified ads, but after the launch when you have (hopefully) thousands of players and hope to lure more. At the current stage, the remaining few players you have cannot be bought with such BS. I wish you guys to improve your communication in the future. Hopefully, when I come back post-Xbox launch, I will be able to see a game with a clear vision and direction that I will be glad to support.
  7. Dollie, I have no grudge against you or Jat as you took your time and reached out to the community. I have a problem with how this was announced (or the fact that it wasn't) and that live stream, compared to an "after-thought" voice chat, contained 0 information. Nobody's dissin' ya but if you, as a company, agree to release certain information it should not be on some "emergency" voice chat. You have an entire website you can post this stuff on so everyone can read about it whenever they are comfortable to do so, do not bottleneck your information in a way that some people will be forced to wait for the stars to align to hear anything meaningful. People here are hungry for solid info not some vague pie charts on pre-recorded dev panel - those who are left simply don't buy into that corporate-level BS. Once again - thank you for your dedication, you are breathtaking - but please improve the information distribution and accessibility.
  8. The fact that they provide more information on some private NA stream is terrible - no matter what platform are you using and how old you are. I expect a dev "live" stream in an early-access alpha game to contain all the information they have agreed, as a team, to share with the community. As a backer (that's what you all are - backers, not customers, you are backing up a project enabling it's development) you are entitled (yes I will use that word) to hear whatever the devs feel comfortable to "leak" out. I should not be forced to go look for some unofficial unannounced private Q&A sessions to gain any meaningful information on the game I have decided to support. That being said - I respect Dolly and Jat for spending their time and participating in such things but the fact that you guys had to do this is simply repulsive, this sheds a terrible light on the company and splits the community even further. You ask us for feedback? You ask us to play on PTR-s and spend our time testing shit for you? You ask us to translate this game for you? Well we ask you to be honest and open, not sending your CM's to some obscure twitch channels to actually talk to people. Now I don't know what's worse, that terrible pre-recorded stream or those odd, unofficial Q&A sessions a "select few" knew about.
  9. People are not complaining about this game being broken, we, mostly, understand that's it is currently in development, what is bothering is a complete lack of communication on official channels. Some dudes had to drag poor Dolly to some obscure private NA stream to get ANY information out of her after that disaster of a stream - that's why people are salty.
  10. I wish I understood the key you use to choose which words to capitalize.
  11. I would compare this more to No Man's Sky which managed to recover mostly by admitting what is wrong, facing the criticism and being honest. For a small indie dev with a small playerbase honesty goes a long way (of course it took them a while, to be honest. But hey - we all make mistakes). I have a weird itch on my brain, that all this vagueness of their stream is hiding some sort of uncomfortable truth about their actual plans. All I know is that if they plan to carry on like this they can just trash the entire dev-stream idea as they will just continue separating themselves from their playerbase.
  12. Hello, I am fairly new to Atlas, my buddies and I started this high-seas adventure about a month ago. In that time we were having a blast and were under the impression that this game is having a bright future despite its current population crisis. When I have heard the news about the new lead designer I was all hyped up. I was waiting for the upcoming dev stream like crazy - after all, you have marketed this stream as if it was the Second Coming of Jesus. I was feeling the incoming "wind of change" to the point I have decided to participate in the forum thread collecting questions from the player base, in that thread it was the first time I realized how many issues this game has and I saw some real, constructive and important questions being asked there - for sure they will make it to Wednesday's Stream, after all the new lead designer would be reason enough to touch on the current state of the game. "THE Stream" finally happened and my naive hope for this project going "full speed ahead" died along with it. Seriously, last time I have seen such a question-dodging non-answer vague dev stream was in the early Elder Scrolls Online days and that nearly killed the game (but Zenimax Online Studios has a massive financial backing and tons of developers on payroll so they eventually recovered, I sincerely doubt you guys have such resources). You know that situation when you are working at a corporate office, and they force you to do some bullshit presentation meeting or you will be excluded from "Granola Fridays" for a month? So you come up with some bullshit pie-chart about "Vertical integration of best collaborative practices" or some other non-topic nobody cares about? This is what this dev stream was. I work at a software company and I know it is sometimes very hard to come up with a meaningful developer stream, but doing a pre-recorded dev stream with a new lead designer that announced big changes and then filling it with pie charts, "maybes" and "we are thinking about it" was honestly disrespectful towards your backers. Forum topic (you have marketed heavily) was filled with some genuine questions yet you have ignored the issues completely. From what I have gathered from the game chat, discords etc. people do not bother to log-in to the game as they have no idea if the servers will be wiped or not. I'm a new player, I have just started and I have no business to hope for a wipe as I have not experienced the game fully yet, but the "wipe or no wipe" question seems to be tearing whatever is left of your community apart. You announce "big changes" (altho we still have no idea what those changes will be as you have talked about them so vaguely Todd Howard would be proud) but refuse to specify what those changes will be and you have left all the possible, heavily requested, content information in a realm of speculation. You also announce Xbox cross-play yet you do not touch on the wipe issue The stream had over one thousand viewers, the chat was nothing else but a wall of people asking about any information regarding the wipe, yet you have ignored it completely with this pre-recorded nonsense and chose to answer questions about cat whiskers and color palettes - if I was a veteran player I would feel insulted. Do you guys have such high hopes for your Xbox launch you believe you can ignore the current players? Cause it sure looks like that and let me tell you - with that attitude whatever player base you will accumulate through the console launch won't last for long. After watching this stream I am on a crossroads, I am not sure if I want to continue playing a project with no vision and with such poor communication, at this point I think even Fallout 76 does a better job at managing their community and I never thought it was possible to be worse. It seems that your Galleon is sinking and all you have is medium planks.
  13. I have posted my four questions earlier in this thread but as I advance through the game one major question popped into my head: 5) Are you going to do something about those terrible, soul-crushing player base load times? I understand a slight delay like in Ark but in Atlas it's really bad. I mean - I live on a small island (26 points) and when I do something on one end and then go back to the other end i often have to wait for my base to load again - and don't get me started on bumping into other player's structures.... so far I find this being one of the biggest issues this game has. Do you have any solution planned for this?
  14. Hello there, I am fairly new to Atlas (3+ weeks or so) and despite all the weird glitches and server connectivity issues, I'm having a blast. I have, however, few gripes against the game that might seem minor but, in my opinion, influence the overall feel of the game especially for new guys like myself. So here are my questions: 1) Are you planning on redesigning the interface? The current one is, to put it gently, a little bit coarse... that font (the font is so bad that using Comic Sans would actually make it better), the overlapping sections, unintuitive icons, hard to read the information on the screen etc. - I believe that the interface might be one of the most off-putting things for the newcomers. I came here from Ark so I'm used to a rough design but I know people (2 blokes I hoped to have in my company) that issued a Steam refund ticket after seeing the tutorial message. 2) I have a feeling that there are very limited sources of experience for dedicated builders/housekeeping types of players. I am running with a small crew of four guys, while three of them run around collecting maps I build, farm, tame, harvest and do maintenance and I am literally getting no experience when compared to the guys that are running some cheap, common maps. The only chance of getting any experience points is when I encounter an alpha creature. Do you have any plans to grant players more sources of experience gain in the future? 3) It appears to me that fighting Fleet of the Damned ships, unless you are looking for some higher-level NPC's, is currently a waste of resources. I might be wrong since I'm new to the game but I have downed my fair share of lvl 20ish vessels and the rewards are rather disappointing for the amount of effort you have to put into this. Especially gold-wise it seems much more time/resource effective to just do sunken treasures all-day - 0 effort and only resource you use up is fish oil. Do you have any plans of rebalancing that? 4) I see that lots of people are asking about more tames, I for one believe that we don't need an "Ark but with boats" and making a tame-centric pirate game will completely ruin its unique feel. Boats and naval combat should be one of the key selling points of a pirate game, not tames. And there is a lot of cool stuff that you guys still can implement to enhance that aspect of the game. That being said I am wondering if you guys plan to implement more ships and ship customization options in the future? 4b) Somewhat connected to the previous question: I am watching lots of tutorials on boat building in Atlas, and it seems that there is no reason to even use the broadside cannon planks since nobody fights like that, instead we see some disgusting abominations with ceiling contraptions and stacked cannons, are there any plans to gently push players towards more "realistic" naval combat? Or the meta will remain roof-covered eyesores?
