The Tradewinds Update will go live tonight, 4/29 at 7:00 PM PT. We will bring the old servers down around 5:30 PM PT. PC will be able to download the patch at that time. Please note that the client update was pushed early for XBOX. Due to the mismatch, Xbox is unable to access until the servers actually go live again at 7:00 PM PT. The updated wipe Servers will be live for everyone at 7:00 PM PT. Ahoy Pathfinders! Well, ladies and gentle pirates, it’s finally here. With the new update and wipe of our servers, players will find the winds of adventure have shifted dramatically and the world of Atlas forever changed. The most significant differences can be seen on the map in the form of Tradewinds. Tradewinds are predictable sailing routes throughout the new map, providing ships with a wind boost when traveling along the wind’s trajectory. Even the most veteran of captains will need to learn a few new techniques to master these new travel corridors and fully utilize their strategic potential. Maps have been altered to accommodate these new Tradewinds, as well as provide new strategic zones and opportunities for satisfying engagement. These changes are further detailed in the notes below. Along with these macro changes that will significantly change up the current state of play, we have also included several fun additions on a micro level (tames, structures, items) to spice up your next chapter of adventures. - Is that an earthquake or the impending sound of doom? Platform saddles for the Elephant, Crab, and Grand Tortugar have been added, allowing your giant tames to load up with cannons, torpedos and other armaments to wreak maximum havoc on your foes. - A new set of troublesome creatures are now roaming Atlas for you to battle and tame. The crocodile, yeti, and spider, each with their own unique set of useful characteristics, will be available on update but engage at your own risk. - The first set of modular railing customizations will be available for pathfinders to pick and choose the best loadout before each voyage. Need extra firepower? Slap on a few cannons. Going to do some salvaging? Add the diving board or cargo railing. Want to mess around? Grab a few friends, add some dinghies on the rails and watch hilarity ensue. These are just a few of the exciting additions coming with the patch with the rest in the notes below. All this and we still haven’t mentioned the large number of balance changes and bug fixes, to streamline the game. As you can see, the Atlas team has put in a lot of effort into making this patch the start of something new and exciting, for both newer and older players alike. We hope you enjoy this fresh start and once settled in, feel free to let us know how you feel. As always, we, the Atlas team, appreciate your support and ‘til next time, may your skies be clear, waters calm, and sails full in whichever way you roam. Although originally scheduled for later today at 7PM PDT, we will be postponing the Trade Winds patch to verify the quality of the update. Meanwhile, we will provide the Patch Notes later today along with an updated release time. Thank you for your patience. While we await the patch, we will be temporarily opening up the PTR on Steam for general playtesting. To access the beta, please follow the steps below: 1. In your Steam library, right-click on Atlas and select Properties 2. Select the Betas tab on the left 3. Enter the password EdwardTeachBlackbeard 4. Select the "test2021 - recruit testers" realm 5. What? You realize after every wipe only a fraction of the people that left come back right? And besides that, the initial influx every wipe has gotten smaller and smaller. There is a definite east to see trend going on. Probably won’t get above 2500-3000 players after the wipe and it will go down to below 1k this time. they are wiping because of programming, they are wiping because they are making another new map that nobody asked for. Just like the first time they changed it and nobody asked for it. The only content they are really making is a platform saddle that is imported from ark. They didn’t really put in any hard work at all.

Best patch so far, great stuff! The trade winds was really needed since travel times were just too long, and trade winds is a big step in a right direction to solve that, keep up the great work! 1 little thing tho is that the wipe happens in the middle of the night for us EU people. Would be nice if you could wipe the EU server in the middle of the day for us too or maybe wipe around noon/afternoon PT time so it's somewhere in the evening for us. Cheers!

Devs, really, what is the fucking point of claim towers if you still have island claims? Cheers to megas who will own all of the claimed islands, and now most of the lawless islands. This was a great tool to replace the ability for a company to claim an ENTIRE GOD DAMN ISLAND, and we all know they will claim as many of those per company as they can. You could have at least made it like the new WH where there is only 1 per island per company. Fucks sake. About the WH change (1 per island per company), Awesome! FINALLY, a good balance for a great tool. This is the best thing you have done this season so far. How is it possible you had pictures of all the new stupid ass platforms, yet none with the new map? Wouldn't that be the most important change to display visually? Why do we not use the original map we started with that literally EVERYONE loved better than any of these new POS maps. Especially with trade winds. Please give us back our ATLAS (pun intended). Also, can we please stop forcing this Ark content into Atlas? Why do we even have the ability to tame anything? How does that fit a pirate theme? How does that encourage sea life? Why does a tame need the ability to be a rolling NPC offensive structure? These additions are always bewildering.

Imagine; (And this was my first 24 hours on the server I play right now) -You spawn on a freeport, with 10x harvest -1 Hour later you allready got some decent levels. With the perks (starterskit for instance) you set sail -Without lagging you cross the border and find some flotsams, you're like; "Hm, some legendary bps, 400 gold. Hell I even picked up some mythos" -You find yourself an island, take the gold and claim it. No more restrictions... -Then you see the mods and start exploring the game -You build a brig, no not with gold but also slightly modded, and do some flotsams again. Even go out and attack some SOTD -Then you like: " WUUUUUUTTT?!? I got myself a premade large yard with 316%" -You tell in globalchat what you found when all of a sudden someone says:" You tried the kit you get with 10K of all mats allready?" -You rush back to your island, time for some real fun 2 Days later, you can only think of 1 thing. Why did I kept playing on officials?

LOL, for an EA game notorious for delays. Stupid people then.
  7. 1 point
Well we all knew the update would be delayed and I really wanted to start a thread so people could bet on it. anyways, you can’t just say delayed now because it already is. Question is now how delayed will it be? now taking bets. people are already complaining they took time off work lmao

Christmas 2023. To be honest, I didnt expect anything less then this. I'd more surprised if they actually rolled it out as planned. That should set a record for being the first patch ever on time. I bet on Christmas 2023.

For how long? At least approximately. I mean Europe woke up before sunrise, Russia - at sunrise and we now should sit and wait? Or it's gonna happen like tomorrow and we can go back to bed again? I'm testing PTR and new map doesn't make any sense lol : ))) Alright TWITTER sais it's gonna be tomorrow tonight. What do you mean by that? Will that be at some "AM" Pacific Time April 29??? Or somewhere around 7PM PDT April 29?

I get you for the most part as far as EA goes but at the same time this company also made ark(let’s not bother arguing this because it isn’t the point). Ark is a perfect example of how EA numbers are a pretty good indicator of success. Through the it’s entirety you would see where decisions they made were bad and also good. One important thing is they were able to maintain a pretty normal playerbase the entire time regardless of highs and lows. atlas has shown a pretty good indicator of bad decisions throughout. There has been a steady decrease over the past two years. I don’t call the initial influx after the wipe as an increase because shortly after they go back down and further down than before. the part I agree on is that it is possible that if the game ever releases(not likely or at least not likely anytime soon) we have no clue if suddenly there is a huge amount of people that want to play it purely because it isn’t EA. However, using ark as an example again a lot of people thought numbers would sky rocket the minute release happened. I was there the exact day it did and there wasn’t an increase or decrease. when there is a short EA period there is a good chance that player counts will increase because of hype generated, but once you get to the point of elongated EA it comes down to the “everyone knows about it and whoever was going to play it has played it” factor. Atlas is in the area in my opinion. as far as tames go I loved ark and I love the tames in atlas but that is neither here nor there.

What source? Steam charts? Yeah the info is all there. Numbers have been slowly but consistently lowering. Last wipe the initial was 2100 and only got up to 2900 so even if(which it won’t) just as many people came back it would be within the range I said. It’s a very well educated guess and anyone that disagrees is simply wrong unless they have more evidence that numbers would go above it. people didn’t just leave because the wipe was coming. They were leaving for 3 months before hand. I definitely disagree every season is more engaging, unless of course you mean more land based gameplay then sure. these guys really haven’t been doing a good job at all. Hooray for ark imported platform saddles. That is going to make raiding a lot easier especially for the bigger groups.

They shouldn't ness with the ability to put the planks on yourself because that is what allows some of the armore ships. also a lot of armore sloop designs are just used for fighting sods.. and ...just one final point here....and i really want you to consider my pov for a moment because i disagree that armore sloops = bad but i see where you are coming from so ...my point is...you think armore sloops are bad and "not realistic" or "piratey" enough. in a game where you can ride a GIANT CRAB WITH CANONS ON IT... But you think armored sloops...literally just some angled wooden armor is too much? If they remove the systems that let someone make an armored sloop this game is 100% dead. You have to put the armor on before the planks...specialty ships are fine but dont mess with the normal ships ffs.

To be honest they weren’t going to do any of it from the beginning. We have 2 years of nothing as proof. The tome to coddle is done. They need a reality check after two years.

Are you retarded? Henry Ford made a quality product. You have turned the car into the horse drawn carriage and now there is horse crap all over the place.

The low player base is because it makes no sense to play Atlas after the wipe. Everything you build, ships, bases, installations will be auti-lost to naked noobs with a claim tower coming in the night to offline-raid you. Ahh thats not true, „offline steal everything“ it means. As alternative they can send a Muhahaha LOLstomping cannon crab. But for fully professional death squad trolls below age of 14 i would recommend the claim tower. Instant death to solos/small groups. Last Oasis was mentioned as example. They introduced solo servers and super strong base walkers, super difficult to raid. Servers are very crowded, the PVP is fair and funny, as you risk some stuff and „ships“ but never everything like in Atlas now. Find the failure Grapeshot !

sooo... - ships now get sunk by pop up cannon/torpedo crabs/Tortugas.... - tames can now use cannons while swimming / cannons touching water... - NPCs can be used again for tame weapons... tell us again, how this game is about sailing ships...?!?! I get it, you don't play this game yourselves, nor do you play ARK... nothing is working out for you and your concepts for Atlas sucks more and more... and while working on the code you find the ARK assets for the platform saddle and "hey! I got an idea! How about we get more ARK players over here by making Atlas even more ARKy...?" Or where you looking at the failed LastOasis and their tiny player base with there non-existing 'ship' combat and said "hold my beer..." and implemented walking Man-o-Wars / one man BattleMechs...?

Wow a Teaser based on ingame Footage. At Least that's something Grape Shot. This really looks like you have tested things before adding it into the live servers. Information about the new map are very rare... hopefully you post more information here soon and not only on Discord. The new map is the big change for this patch and hopefully it has some reasons to join Atlas again. Hopefully you have also spent some time on bug fixing and improvment of added stuff like farms, warehouse, and market. Hopefully you will show us some improvments in the loot tables of SotD as well. I am exited to see how new trade wind is working and if you do change the current wind system? Because by just increasing the slowest wind speed and not having it always in direction West to East or East to West would be a big game changer already. Also the wind should change not in a 24h cycle... because it's annoying when it blows every evening in the wrong direction and always with lowest speed when you start playing. I am looking for some reason to use the wind to get my ships out again. Will the trade wind channels move or change direction or are they at fix locations in the map... i guess second option. Maybe the balance of the sails will be addressed sometimes and medium sails will get some use or weight sails will have more impact. For example if you have a cargo attached that reduces speed by 20% a weight sail could reduce this 20% to 10%. Also opening and turning speed of Weight Sails should be buffed. Currently they are worse than all other sails and have no reason to be used besides totaly overloaded harbor run ships. Ok the direction of the new ships system is to change ships to fight only broadside which is more realistic of course... but as long old ships exist they are always supperior due to custimization and rear facing cannons in an amount the Player decides himself. Leveling with fighting SotD is very important. Ships build gets changed after getting max level and only then the ship does not need rear facing cannons anymore. Hopefully the bugs i addressed about the Majestic Kraken(current pre build ships) in general discussion topic will be improved. While it is nice to get attachments for the ramming gally you don't expect somebody to use this ship for transports? But it's good to have this railings at least prepared for larger pre build ships in the future. Balistas with fire bolts with the fast speed buff of the ramming gally could actually be some improvement for a sail destroyer design on PvP. But it looks like the amount of cannons on the ramming gally will be reduced. To place only two balisatas or one large cannons or two small cannons on the broad side deck is the very high level of customization... but maybe you have 3 segments on each side with cannon collision to the sails... Well the saddles look really funny and will be used on PvP a lot.*Irony off* Until they see the first time a horse with a cargo saddle and a swivel gun shooting fire amunition. A Crap will die in about 5 seconds... while it is encumbered and can't jump? But maybe it can jump with 5-6 cannons and amunition. At least crabs have ~1500 weight and can jump up to ~50% of weight reached. So yes this saddle will change PvP fights by 0%... because the horses are still to fast... and fire vs. tames like Elephant, Bear,... is insane strong(OP). On PVE everybody uses baers but on PvP it's all about horses. And from my expirience some good lvl 40-50 breaded horeses a pretty much unkillable if played correctly and not getting outnumbered by grapple hooks and naked black jack figthers. Well maybe that changed with the barrel changes and now the barrels are more used with catapult on horses. What about the puckle placement and shooting bug on this plattform saddle... i guess placed on an elephant the puckles can kill flying birds in the sky... but common is they can't shot down more than about 5-10°. So shooting enemy next to the elephant should not be possible... the bullets get collision with the saddle. And you can't place the front foot of the puckly over the dege of the plattform by adding a celing and removing it after placing puckle. An Elephant with placed large storage box that reduces weight by 66% like cargo saddle would be interesting for wood harvesting... but well you don't need this as you have farms.

The amazing new claim process You know since the kraken ship came out would you still double down on ball licking you did earlier for the devs? Their new claim system is terrible the new boat is even worse than the ramming ship after the community gave great feedback on what needed fixing. But hey atleast you wont have to fight a "shot gun ship" .
