As the title states i'm really curious who this game is for in its current state and its future. I've been playing since season 1 and haven't missed a season other then being late to season 4 by 2-3 months. And honestly I just can't wrap my head around who this game is intended to entice. The pve isn't robust enough to cater to a majority of pve players, This is evidenced by the fact that historically the pve servers have never seen the population that the official pvp servers have. But then again this game can't be geared towards pvp players because the dev's have on a consistent basis seemingly done everything they can to curtail pvp in this game. We keep being told "oh well you can't judge these changes on the current state, this is all towards our vision for the future of the game". That's great and all but you refuse to give us the bigger picture and instead we get piece meal parts of some system we're in the dark about that never function properly and end up breaking the game further and further. At some point you told us that you wanted this game to be more water based and you wanted to get us off land and into the sea more. This proved to be false. Evidenced by the changes made. 1) The barrel buff, which overnight killed naval pvp dead in its tracks and also made some naval based companies quit (one gin is the first to come to mind). 2) The gold changes. Even as someone who has access to pretty much unlimited gold, no one asked for or wanted this change. It further caused less water pvp. Don't believe me go look at the vast majority of pvp video content from this game this season compared to season 1, 2 or 3. It's all land pvp video's. We used to be out on the water. There used to be large fleet battles that made the game interesting and made it so Atlas as a game had something that no other game had. 3) Performance. Every patch you've released has introduced game breaking bugs that take weeks to address if they even get addressed at all. Each patch breaks more and more of the games already shaky systems. So much so that not only are we discouraged from sailing because of the current "working" systems but no one wants to sail a bp'ed or expensive boat around for risk of losing it to gridding or even having your character reset to level 1. 4) This game in its current state caters to no one who plays it. Large companies don't want to bother building big expensive ships only to lose them to issues like the one stated above. Small companies can't make the big expensive stuff. Even if they could they'd lose it to issues like the ones stated above and then have to invest even more time rebuilding another ship IF they had the resources. As a member of the company that controls the flow of iron wood in the game i can tell you just based on the amount of trades we've received that people just aren't making bp'ed stuff like they used to. 5) Every season we've been told "hey guys we're listening. we have a new direction and things will be better". I dare someone to tell me the game is in a better state now then it was in season 2 or 3. Maybe even season 1. Please just tell us who this game is for. It's not a naval game at present. Its not a pirate game. It's not an mmo. Hell its not even functional most of the time with the battle eye issues. I'm just plain stumped at what you think this game is and what you are trying to accomplish with the game. You stated recently in the Q@A that you're happy with the gold for boats system. How? At what point do you realize that these changes and these busted systems that you guys seem to think are great are doing nothing to enrich the game. The game is averaging 250-350 players on official pvp during prime time. Does this look like the numbers of a game with a population who enjoys the game?

@minipan9 absolutely man. Don't forget market gold, that's pretty much infinite gold to feed the now super cheap island cost. They've effectively ruined the game with this current system honestly. In season 3 there were enough islands that you could have small groups with islands, they reduced the world size so much that literally the only people with islands now are megas, and the costs are so cheap that they essentially never have to even play to just perma-have them. I just skimmed through, it's literally all megas with islands. No small groups with an island somewhere, no diversity. Just the same people i've seen every season. They really borked this up.

Lol the only thing to do now is stay on land because of Battleye. I was kicked 5 times trying to paint a canvas, no way I’m doing anything riskier. The gold thing is bonkers too, I have so much gold I just give it away. The game is as broken as it ever was just like OP said. In a week there will be 75% less people on my empty lawless island in PVE. Dark times indeed.

In fact the island is able feeds themselves with gold made from taxes with treasures hunts. So yes, they are pretty much permanent asset once you claim it. They should either remove the gold cut (as almost no island owner is building access for treasures hunter despite collecting 20% tax, they simply not worth it)or start collecting something else. It will be a great if they add ways that island owner may lost their claim ,say ”npc private raid that aims for the flag”.

Umm nah dude you realize that that's more like season 3 if anything? except i said exponentially more expensive as you expand claims. Used to be like 1-2k a day for a 130-150 pointer Or honestly, exactly like the current season. You understand they are literally talking about reverting the claim system directly back to how it was in season 1 right now? It's currently cheaper to own an entire grid now, in this season, then it was in season 3. The islands are a lot smaller, and they reduced gold costs. This actually made it worse for solos and small groups, the bigger companies can just afford to buy more and do.

dude i think everyone can agree that a lot of the changes were good. pretty sure everyone definitely wants more content. the new (old) island claim system just seems stupid though. The end of season 3 had tons of islands up for cap. They downsized the world size, created a problem, so people complained, and now instead of just making more islands, they are going back to the flag spamming system. Now we get to see ugly flags spammed around everywhere. Hurrah. I hope they don't get rid of lawless?

Honestly had a lot of fun doing sloop vs sloop pvp though. Regardless of that, 5k is.... um... excessive.

How do you let this stuff happen in the release? Why don't you guys just decide - these are gamebreaking bugs, maybe we should not release this? And how have you not acknowledged or begun to address people losing all their progress for no reason at all - ie. deleted characters and boats? EDIT: Its obvious you have tried to begin working on claims stuff in the background, hence beds issues, mortars issues, structures being able to be built on freeport/golden ages. And its obvious its a catastrophe. Have you even bothered to see if the changes you plan to make are going to be what people want? Maybe you should do that first. No one cares about fucking christmas decorations. Why do you spend effort on this bullshit instead of fixing the real issues in the game? What the fuck? The more players you lose to things like deleted characters, the worst the game becomes overall for everyone - because there are less tribes around in the game to fight against in the PVP server. Pretty soon you will be able to sail around golden ages without encountering anyone at this rate. The problem is you never learn from your mistakes and you never admit to the community you are wrong about things. You guys are ruining your own game. I heard in EU they dont have performance issues or character deletions. Which tells me these issues on NA are easily fixable. And that is not acceptable for these issues to be going on for so long now. I understand its early access and we are basically helping to test the game. but you're not gonna have people around to give feedback and test if you treat your players like this. You should set up a simple 2x2 test server with GA, Freeport, lawless and claimed islands tiles to test your claims stuff. 1 minute of testing on a server and opening the map would have revealed the maps/beds bug.

One more thing. Because now ships cost is increased, and all the way to loose them are still there (including bugs, glitches, camping borders enemies etc) it would be really great if you introduce the way to bring ship back after It sunk. I mean ships is not just ship itself. Some of us put alot efforts in to it. It's design. It's long leveling. Sometimes it's even PAINTING!!! So it not just loosing ship. It loosing all those efforts. So my idea is simple. We've got ship seller, right? So let it be this way, if our ship is sunked, for some time... for example for a week, it appears in this seller guy menu, ready to be bought back for gold. With no crew. With empty boxes. But same lever and design.

I DO really glad that game is moving forward. I DO love to see daily servers reboot, that keeps network stable (I mean it still giltchy but NOT that level it was before when some servers were simply unplayable). I really happy with all new stuff, but hey, Grapeshot gusy! With all current new stuff can you also work with old stuff you really need to redone? Just quick update of what I wrote before. Darkened stuff in shops: Landowner and server's messages behind sextant buff. Text behind feats panel. Buffs text: Localization text:
