I really hope this is not as stupid as it looks and sounds on paper

What a relief to see some progress being made and new ideas being worked on. This game has so much potential, even more than ark! ^^ I hope there will be a new PvPvE map system where (almost) pure PvE could be an option, but with PvP on the other hand being way more rewarding. (to make the PvE players try it out aswell) It would be awesome to have a thriving economy, with blueprints, rare items, cosmetics and so on. Fun achievements, rare ship parts and equipment to get as a reward for sinking ships, keeping control of certain outposts in the PvP areas and so on. And all that while still having a safezone to hang out in, aka your main base. Add more complete, usable structures and houses to replace the hundreds of floors, walls and ceilings to reduce lag and bring more immersion to the game as a whole. Reduce the powercreep of blueprints and weapons/armor, make 150% damage blueprints really rare or give them out as rewards for certain tasks. Make gold more valuable (so we dont pay 10s of thousands of gold for one tame or ship anymore, because everyone has so much). These are just some suggestions that I came up with. Im sure all of you have even better ideas and also a way to implement them. Dont be scared to try out new features, listen to the community, see what they are asking for, ignore all the hate and insults from these idiots and prove them wrong. I've been playing since day 1 and I had lots of fun ever since. (yes, we exist) :D We will stick along so hopefully you guys will too! ^^ We all want the game to succeed Hopes are high, Good luck :D

I see everyone implying that NA PVE is being removed permanently, and replaced with another PvP server, based off a completely vague news release that lacks details, or any semblance of the roadmap previously communicated. The bottom line is that this news release does not include enough information to know or understand the future plans for the server being taken down. Was it taken down because it was the least populated, and it is now the test server for the new map and game structure? Will there be 100% PVP, 100% PVE, or PvEvP servers brought up on official in July? We simply don’t know, and writing comments implying facts based off this news release is not very useful. I think I can speak for the entire community when I say the developers should write a brief follow up news release with more information. We are left with more questions than answers, and the level of communication is piss poor at best. If you are going to make zero announcements for months while working on Ark, and return to wipe a server with 24 hour notice, it sure would be nice if you had a more concrete news release with higher levels of details. Player like me dump thousands of hours of gameplay into Atlas. Is it too much to ask for a news release that takes more than 15 minutes of your time? Show us that you care. Please.

How about you wipe the PvP servers as there's no true pvp there, its almost all offline pvp griefing. The pve servers at least have worked long and hard to build up everything they have. If you reset everyone to level 1 on the wipe you just killed what little player base Atlas has remaining. Heck, merge PvP and PvE into PvEvP by making "Laweless Zones" just that LAWLESS!! PvP auto enables when you zone into one. BuT: if you leave player level, discoveries, achievements, and skills alone that could be viable. And dont say you cant do it because we all know you can. Quite a lot of players have spent an ungodly amount of time on their character...and you're plan is to wipe all that work? export player files, import new world, import player files that have "location" modified to wherever your "starter" areas are. Players may have to rebuild bases, reclaim islands, etc...but the bulk of their gaming effort is still intact. A complete trashing of player loyalty again...might as well go play Oasis if we all have to start over.

Hi Folks. I was brought on recently to help build a new team working exclusively on Atlas! I know there's been a lull in development lately, and we've actually got several things that are in development that we are going to be rolling out over the next couple months. I want to address a few design topics about this map. We wanted to get people moving around the world more. This map lays some of the groundwork for that, and aligns with some of the systems we're rolling out in the next couple months that we will have details on soon. What's shown here is the plant and weather biome layout, which dictates what type of plants an area contains. We've separated the mineral layer and the edges of those mineral biomes do not line up with the plant biomes. The areas in the middle of the map are densely populated with islands and are closest to the most diverse selections of plants and minerals. The outer areas of the map have less access to rich diversity of resources, and they also use the claim system. This is intentional. The outskirts are safer and less rewarding. In the short term, we expect more conflict in the center of the map around the Golden Age Islands. We're also introducing new systems for Trading that we will dive into soon. This should provide opportunities for both cooperation and conflict. What's a pirate game without the opportunity to pillage trade routes? More on that in the weeks to come.

Did we really go from 25x25 down to 11x11 AND mix up West/East all confusing like? I can't believe this.... do you guys have more to share? Like... pronto style...?

Here's a wee bit o’ background about me: I've been working in the gaming industry for over 5 years and have experience in building up nonprofits. When I'm not working, you'll most likely find me playing monster-catching games, farming games, and first-person shooters. I've been playing ATLAS with the development crew over the last few months and can say it's a game I'll be sinking many hours into. I'm excited to get to know this awesome community of scallywags! Okay, maybe not navigator... unlike my namesake, I'm directionally challenged. But you know, as I like to quote, "there is little difference between being lost and exploring" and we're excited to be exploring all the new things coming to ATLAS with all of you! When I'm not getting lost at sea or trying to outdo Chisme's “chees-eh” puns, you can find me watching anime (You can probably guess one of them, shishishi), working out (manning the sails is great for the arms!), and of course, playing games! I love platinuming RPGs, supporting feeders on MOBAs, being bad at matchmaking shooters, dungeon running in MMOs, and living out my own version of Groundhog's Day in survival games lol. This is the last straw for me. You guys promised last wipe that it wouldn't happen again so on that I spent hundreds of hours collecting gold maximizing my favorite ship all to have it wiped... This is a huge middle finger to everyone who doesn't want to do the PVP nonsense. Nothing that comes out of your mouth is believable at this point.
  11. 2 points
Here is a question for the Dev's what are they going to do for the players that have spent months working on tame stats, gathering mats to build the higher tier ship and gear, as well as those who have worked to level their pathfinders up to do the end game quests? Why remove a server and have all those players lose everything that they have worked for is not how you build customer loyalty in fact in to how you lose customers.

Oh boy the 3rd wipe. How exciting. Wheee. Starting over for the 4th time then I guess.

Pvp and pve are totally different play styles, I don't want to build ships that are wooden blocks loaded with cannons, and I wouldn't want forced conflict either. I am not alone by a long way in this view, please bear that in mind with the changes u make. Thx

Yeah the Megas are going to cut off all travel to the center. One mega will take the row above golden age and the other mega will take the lower row. People are going to be more scared sneaking through the Megas row than going into the golden age lmao
  17. 1 point
Lol dude, if these are PvPvE servers, then why take over the island? You can live in a free port and raid everyone with the help of the "mechanics" of the free port that you offer, on the contrary, developers need to reduce the time that the ship can spend in this port. In pvp it's been abused for a long time. A free port without rotting ships - unbalanced shit upsets the balance in the game, you already have a peaceful phase of 15 hours, what else is needed? In the first season of Atlas PVP there were no peaceful stages at all, and everyone survived as best they could ...
  18. 1 point
Its not a surprise now, but you really could have communicated the state of the game a lot better before all went silent near the genesis launch. Hopefully this new team will not make the same mistakes and make an effort to explain future gaps of communication. Has the phases for the game we saw last year been thrown out the windows? or being rethought? Please shed some light soon and don't keep us in the dark again.

Maybe you guys ought to just come up with other, non-compass-related descriptions to replace "Eastern" and "Western". Those tags really only make sense in a globe-based map (like the old one, even if it was flat). Perhaps "High Temperate" and "Low Temperate", "High Tropics" and "Low Tropics", to resemble the desert zones? Speaking of global, will the map still "wrap around" left/right and top/bottom?

Jat, I have bought most of you're companies games and have concluded that you would make an amazing pve mmo. But you always push the pvp, why? has it previously succeeded? I reckon one of you must either be a massive tabletop gamer or a fan of Risk.

Alrighty, news is out there now. Probably no surprise to most that Dollie and myself have been working on ARK for sometime now. We're glad to finally be able to introduce some of ATLAS new crew members, including their Community folk. It was a pleasure sailing the seas with y'all and we're looking forward to the changes that are coming from the team.

Loving this new map redesign! Still waiting to hear how you change the game and make sea content more viable though. I'm really looking forward to that.

one would think a sailing game that uses maps would have figured out where east and west is, but then again.....I guess not. Still waiting to hear the why we've been sold a game that has PVE for it to be now removed. Maybe that we got new community managers we can get some answers to why NA PVE is removed and what sounds like EU PVE could be gone next.

So wiping n/a pve server. I did not purchase this game to be forced to play pvp nor did my fellow gamers i play with. Nor do i enjoy the expierence of a game that i play for a few months just to have to start over. I was enjoying the game very much until i heard developers were wiping the server. I have had several gamers purchase this game and had many more interested in purchasing this game. But they are now persuaded to purchase other games with devlopers forcing people into a pvp experience. Grapeshot if you read this please leave the n/a pve server alone. I feel it will drive away a descent size a gamers from purchasing your product.

i dont know the details of you "experience" but dont you think games spend big ammounts of money in localised servers for a reason? also dont you think you are changing one of the fundations that lead a player to buy the game in the first place? dont you think this action will hurt your reputation even further (if that is even possible)?.

Ahoy Pathfinders, News from the Cabin Major news! We have been working on our plans for some time and getting ready to give all you Pathfinders the details of our new ATLAS journey. We’re growing the development team and we’ll be starting to introduce those team members to you next week! Updates! Our first major change to the ATLAS will be a whole new World Map which is designed to intensify the fun at higher levels and make it a bit safer for lower level players. This is just the first step in the greater plan to shift gameplay from the land out on to the open seas! This new World Map drops in the first half of July for both PC and Xbox. Another piece of ATLAS’ grander plan is to focus on PVP play with an eye towards breaking out PVE play into something else. As part of this plan, we’ll be taking NA PVE offline and leaving the EU PVE server as the official PVE world for the time being. Bringing a new World Map online will require a complete reset of the system, something we don’t take lightly. We wouldn’t do it if we didn’t feel that it was vital to the new experience we want to create for you all. We have new goals for supporting the game and delivering regular (dare we say monthly!) content updates that will bring joy and piracy back to the open seas, with plans for Trade Winds, Farms, Warehouses, and more! Stick with us on this ride and we’ll sail the high seas together! Our entire company (32 people, and with this ridiculously small number already one the biggest companies on EU PVE) collectively uninstalled Atlas today. Last thing we heard on our way out is that many people in the alliances are planning the same. We, our company, won't be back. This has been the worst communication from any development team to their community I have experienced in my 35 years of gaming. This has been the biggest bag of false promises I have ever seen in anything in any industry. Even in the low standards of the gaming industry this was way beyond anything that's acceptable. In any other industry, in many countries, this would even have been considered fraud. I was so mad so often during the past months, I even wrote a kind of pain diary about Atlas, sent it to a major German gaming magazine/site, and they actually picked up on it, lowered the (already low) rating for the game, plus - in a current special on pirate games on their site -, they first added a big warning sign next to Atlas at first, and later on removed Atlas entirely from the list. Now, before I leave, there's four things I long to say: 1. Regarding the patch: Nobody needs a new world map! And we get it just because the only remaining level designer was the last guy still on the Atlas team while the rest of your (anyway B-)team was added to Ark to help finishing the DLC - which turned out to be an overpriced piece of garbage, too. Company must be doing great! You already lost the Ark players you had briefly gained by the DLC (Steamcharts is our friend against your lies). All the while you sold out a true high potential game. 2. Remove the "MMO" tag on steam. This game doesn't deserve the tag, not in regards to amount of active players, not in regards to maximum players per instance, not in regards to technical achievement, and certainly not in regards to persistence. And IF you call yourself MMO, then you should rather want to cut off one of your fingers than wiping the servers. (Also, stop calling your servers "network", it's utmost ridiculous!) 3. Jatheish as well as Dollie: get your asses out of the gaming industry, you are a disgrace and should be ashamed to even dare to call yourself community managers. 4. Your decision makers need to start learning, they seem to be insanely immature and unprofessional. It's okay to be fairly young, fairly untalented and fairly clumsy. But it's not okay to go into hiding when you simply fail to deliver. This Doug Kennedy, whoever that is, must be a spineless chicken shit. We're out (and also won't read the fanboy replies on here any longer, so go crazy as you wish). Nah, we are not pissed at all. We have just left. I got my $15 bucks worth and now know to never buy anything from them or their affiliated crap like ARK ever. They abandoned the game for months on end and have now given up on PVE and have decided that PVP is where they will get their money. That the lead developer slunk out in the middle of the night without having the soyboi balls to own up to his failure to go work on Vampire the Masquerade was telling. It is just more smoke and mirrors to try and con another group of XBobs, since the PC players are wise to their shit now.

Ok devs, how are you planning on compensating all of your na PVE players, I'm sure that many people on that server are like my company and play multiple games together, we also have hundreds of hours invested in buildings tames and resources. oh, I understand the game is still in pre-release but all you're going to do by wiping out that server is continue to drive a wedge between your company and the players, That you need to be successful as people who want to buy and play your game. My personal opinion you should just except the expense of starting another server for your new map. And just incase you missed it in dozens of other post, pvp is not the only game mode that your players are interested in.
  32. 1 point
This is very disheartening. After so much farming, island claiming, building, and working toward endgame. Just to watch the server you play on to be sunsetted for no real reason. Why should we have to start over for another server to be added makes no sense. No reward in it for what we have already done. People have spent thousands of hours in the game doing what they have enjoyed. Now everything they have worked for will be lost. That is very sad.
  33. 1 point
Totally agreed , no one will force me to play pvp . "an eye towards breaking out PVE play into something else" sounds like forcing pve players out of Atlas for me , no worries , good to know this game will be dead for pve player , won't be wasting more my time here

IS this new Dev team gonna stick around or are they gonna bounce the moment Ark Needs a new DLC? And are they gonna be much faster at dealing with Cheaters, especially those that rely on the aimbot?
  35. 1 point
Yeah am I miss reading this or is PvP not being wiped? I would have thought everything would need to be taken down for a proper rework. Um developer person's who may read this is there any chance we can keep our character's? A wipe never hurt a map but it does suck losing animals AND your character

really tired of starting over, at least let us keep our levels, i like many other are already about to walk away from this game.

i gonna tell you what gonna happen, 1. anounce new stuff 2. get some cash out of it 3. ignore the Community for month 4. Invest it on next Ark addon and this has nothing to do with salty, time has already shown that they gave up the game after seasson 1, its just a cashcow.
  39. 1 point
Yeah, this sucks. But its an early access. Not a finished game like ARK. They can do whatever they want.

This sucks all this work for it to be wiped why don’t keep the servers up like legacy like what’s point of playing now when all progress will be wiped people have lives you know they don’t just play atlas

What are you gonna try out? Nothing changed in 3 months only a clean server because it costs too much money.

I was really into this game for while and played for probably around 900 hours. After it seemed like the developers lost interest I stopped playing. The game was stale and had too many unresolved issues. I decided not to invest any more time in a game that seemed like it would never be finished. But I have to admit, Atlas was my favorite among all of the multiplayer "survival" games I ever played. Ark is ok, but I'm just not into dinosaurs. Dark and Light was great. It came from the same "mold" as Ark and Atlas but it was all but abandoned too. One of the things I loved about Atlas was the vast open world. No other survival game that I know of is even trying to replicate that. (Last Oasis is trying, but their "world" is just a bunch of identical copies of three main maps.) I think the big thing I loved about Atlas was the fact that there were lots of different things for players to do. You could have fun building bases, building ships, taming animals, hunting treasure, or just adventuring on the high seas. The huge world meant that there were tons of places to explore. With a great deal of sadness I always wonder, "What happened to this game?" It was so popular when it came out and the developers inexplicably abandoned it. I know that some work is still ongoing, but I wish we would hear some real news. Some small part of me hopes that they've been toiling away in secret on the game and one day, out of the blue a gigantic overhaul patch is going to come out, addressing most of the shortcomings of the game. Until then I'll just keep hoping.
