Heya Folks! House Badger is a 5x5 PvP and PvE server with: Custom Flotsam loot tables in PvP zones. Custom Shipwreck loot tables in PvP zones. Custom dino loot tables on powerstone islands. 15X rates Max character level 151, with boosted stats per level. Ships cap out at 101 almost instantly. PvP raids are done VIA war tokens, with ship vs ship combat happening 24/7 in PvP grids. MINIMAL PVP rules - the more admins stick their noses in PvP the worse it is for PvP players, the PvP community can handle most grievances without me butting in. The PvE claim system is lawless, so don't worry about a PvE player taxing 30%. We have the 'standard' points shop, kits, lootboxes, and vote rewards. We currently have no "donation" shop, I'm not sure we'll add one. Kraken is active, and the snowman as well. I watched a company duo snowman last night and it was quite entertaining (they did win, with 1 of them left alive). There's plenty more to it, but any more text and I'll need to throw in a TL;DR - hope to see ya soon! Amazing server, well maintained and it isn't pay to win. This server seemed to be created for some awesome pvp. Full mythic ship just from collecting flotsams! Don't mind if I do. WHAT!! sunken ship with mythic carbines, YES please. War must be declared before raiding encourages player base, and avoids griefers which is a nice change of pace. This server is well thoughtout and lots of fun. Did I mention Mythic Carbines from sunken ships?! Okay cool

This server rocks! I love the loot and the ship mods. And the loot. And loot, and looting. Mostly loot. Anyways, loot you later!

I like the ship leveling on House Badger. Gone are the days of grinding SOD for days to level your boat enough to call it battle ready. AS ship mod paired with the almost instant max level ship makes for a great PvP environment. no more holding your ship near and dear.... its supposed to be a ship battle game and that is how it works on House Badger. I also like the raid system... requiring the use of war tokens makes the raids a planned event and gives the opposing company time to prepare for all out war. Great server!

We live in the polar and there are no berrys in the polar.. so we are forced to take around 140 k berry every week from freeport to feed all npc .. this task is not only boring but it takes long too. A easy solution to the problem would be that the food larder has priority of the silo so that big close groups of npc don't eat so many berry of the silo but eat them from the food larder .. A other easy solution would be that you can put vegetable in silos... I hope you consider this suggestion as in our group we are fighting every week to who should go take the large amount of berrys.. Or even better complety remove the feeding npc mecanism

Huh, good idea. I was there for about 2hrs and was alone the whole time waiting for somebody to show up. I was about to give up when I said screw it and made that last run, in a last ditch effort to get it. But ill remember that next time.

I think they could use the land for more buried treasures and add the pirate encampments to them. I don't know why they have multicoloured ships of the dammed, not a fan of them to be honest. Why can't we have the real ships that we currently make? Add them into the game the same way ship of the dammed are now, put NPC on them that fight back and make it so we can board those ships to take anything they have on them. I'd much rather they changed from companies to factions though, that would make it easier to help out others and make pvp and pve in the 1 server, each faction has their own place on the map where you start out. The freeports could be used for all faction members to meet up and if they had events on they could have the festival atmosphere like they show in their videos that was supposed to be in from the start or so we thought. So many ideas they could come up with for this game but they don't seem to listen to the way the community wants it to go, it's their way or the highway and many chose the highway, it's about time they learn from their mistakes.

Again, the objection I have to fast travel is that if the game is marketed as being pirate oriented, and I agree that for a game we are told is the ultimate pirate experience, there is actually no opportunity to engage in piracy (look up the definition of piracy, it involves hijacking of commercial shipping by force over water), then sailing would be a core activity of such a game. If the game is doing poorly and large chunks of the playerbase are complaining that sailing is boring, the solution is not to create a workaround which short circuits a core activity, but to improve your content in ways that makes that core activity more appealing. The reason why I don't think fast travel is a good idea for Atlas even if that is accomplished is a phenomenon common to gaming and gamers which developers are aware of, but that gamers themselves tend to be extremely poor at perceiving. Many gamers, when confronted with an aspect of a game they find too challenging, boring, or taking up too much time, loudly call for changes to alter the experience to tone down the challenge, shorten the time investment etc etc. They most often fail to realize this has the consequence of accelerating their journey to complete boredom with the game. Especially with the MMO genre, it has been proven time and again that no development team, not even the well funded behemoth at Blizzard, can produce content faster than most gamers can comsume it. This means that time sinks and higher levels of challenge difficulty are necessary for the long term viability of any MMO. For Atlas, that would be allowing fast travel. Letting players zip back and forth across the map would only accelerate the speed with which they reached a point their boredom with the game could not be reversed, and this is assuming the present lack of meaningful content were actually eliminated, which it has by no means been. Let me be clear, this isn't me saying "you can't have fast travel because if you do you'll suddenly be more likely to notice they haven't put much actual content in." this is me saying "Look, even IF they put in a bunch of meaningful content, allowing fast travel would inevitably lead to a large percentage of the playerbase just becoming bored with a game they might otherwise enjoy." The random encounter you never expected while moving from point A to point B can often be some of the most memorable and rewarding gaming experiences most players have in an MMO, and while fast travel looks appealing, in the end the cost of the conveniance it offers is acceleration towards tedium. This game desperately needs to make sailing less boring because sailing is the very thing you should expect to be doing most of the time in a pirate game, not riding a bear or an elephant around while you build a base and attempt to breed veliceraptors under another name. Spare me the argument it's pirate/fantasy, yes that is a loophole that lets you shoehorn other things in, but if you don't think the majority of your prospective players are here primarily for the pirate experience, you haven't been paying attention the past year. The game is failing because you aren't providing that experience, and the one you are providing isn't at it's core holding people's interest.

You did wrong - to die at exact path to the fountain. After I use fountain I then go to the deep cave trying to lure all monsters away from path, so next player would be able to run freely : ))

I guess the developers are working on the late Ark DLC. They have announced larger patches, but nothing has changed here for several weeks. I'm curious if anything is going to happen before Christmas. I'm currently playing single (no longer keen on wipes and decays) and have to say that the bug has no end. So before QoL updates appear, they should first take care of the sometimes serious bugs.

They atleast increased the meat stacks to 50 but as someone who played since Day One And had alot of Patience And also understand the developers Point of view, i must say even tho they told us it will get quiet for some time cant sweettalk the Communication issue anymore

Not much chance of community engagement here, they prefer the social media platforms where any comments they make are buried under the dung-heap of comments 5 minutes afterwards. It's been almost a month since anyone at grapeshot posted here on their "first point of contact" official forums.

Just purchased an Elephant, Giraffe and Rhino from Skinner. The prices were great even for a noob like me and the tames are amazingly strong. They were incredibly fast to respond and when I followed up a little later with some questions about specing my new pets they were very very helpful. Would highly recommend!

Gotta admit though, I like how I designed my 42 gun war brig though, it kinda utilizes armor and functionality. 11 broadside guns, 13 rear deck, and 8 to the front. Could add another 5 guns to the broadside, but those spots will be reserved for the ballistas when I start heading into the northern zones. But yer right, the ship kinda resembles a floating hotel with guns, or maybe an armed cruiseliner of sorts, But it is home away from home, well, you really don't have a home other than the ship on SP anyway. And I couldn't build a ship like mine on officials since I use different mods that increase the build structures on the ship. But I have a crew quarter section, an officer quarter section, a privy with a bathtub, a crew mess, plus the bottom deck is for all the storage. I have to use a mod that allows the ship to carry more weight than normal because you can't build blueprinted items without a lot of different mats, and the game tends to eat the mats you collect if you try to leave it at a base, and then leave the zone to go collect more. You have to find workarounds for the unfunctionality of the coding, and my workaround is to carry all the mats I collect with me on one ship. And even then I often find that I am missing stuff that I've collected. I had about 10 extra mythical gunports I had in my repair chest in case I lost a gunport I could replace it on the fly, well, the game ate them, so I had to make regular gunports since I had run out of mats to make more mythicals, and the game ate those as well. Every time I log in I have to make more.

I bet those bored college kids used fast travel to search the server for offline people. You want that in atlas too?

I understand that. I take that into account. It's not about EA, it's about the same mistakes being made over and over, and the fact is, these types of games tend to attract a lot of interest in the beginning, but die off very quickly, and that is for multiple reasons. Why do people buy these games? Something in the trailer made them believe it was going to be a fun enjoyable experience. They greatly overestimate how well they will be able to do in the game. They might not have experience with these kinds of games, but something made them try it. Their friends talked them into it, or their gaming squad decides to try it. Why do so many people who buy these games, leave the game in a short period of time. They aren't having fun. Their clan is constantly getting kicked around. (Nobody will stick around for that, for long.) They quickly learn that this type of game isn't for them. Their friends weren't having fun, and left. Why might they not be having fun? I can write a novel on that. Suffice it to say that this kind of game attracts a lot of people who also like single player RPGs. A game like this is trying to mix RPG elements, into a PvP experience, and frankly, that JUST DOES NOT WORK SO WELL. Many players have this strong sense of entitlement to have advantages because they have been here longer. But, those advantages equate to the game being so imbalanced that a newer player, or somebody who doesn't have half the hours to game as another guy, will be at an insurmountable disadvantage. For instance, we got raided. I play as much as I can, but it's not enough to keep up with the guys playing all the time. Such that I was mid 40s level when 6 players invaded that were 90s level. Their time in the game made it such that I had zero chance against them. Include that I was spec'd for getting things done for the company, but these guys were spec'd for combat. Add in that when they attacked, they had all the goodies...alcohol, pudding, etc... They were also carrying an absurd number of grenades. In short, my defeat is hard coded into the game. They had many more achievements, giving them more bonuses, and their higher levels gave them far more health, stamina, feats, etc... A fight with one of them ends just one way for me. There is no getting around that. When that raid happened, it took the wind out of my sails. My thinking? What's the point. Why even bother. All I am doing is providing fun for somebody else, while experiencing nothing but frustration myself. Meanwhile, two weeks ago, my Star Citizen group did a 25 vs 25 ground combat event with another Organization, and we won both rounds. The first one was close, but the second one, we literally only lost one guy, but took out the entire opposing team. The first round was close because we used the same tactics, leaving it up to random chance and shooter skill. The second round, we made better decisions, which allowed us to get to the objective first, and so we had the defender's advantage. And yet, everyone on both teams felt like it was a lot of fun, and want to do it again. But then, the set-up wasn't that we were in heavy armor, with them in light, and us using heavy weapons, while they used SMGs and pistols. In other words, we had basically the same gear. It was equal, it was fair, and this allowed the first round to be very close. Even the second round was fun. We were getting hit, but had better terrain to work with. The winner wasn't decided before the event even started, but in Atlas, when you have a Mythical Ship vs a Common, or even a Masterwork, it's decided before the shooting even starts. When one fighter on the ground runs into another, and one is level 90 and spec'd for combat, and the other is level 45, and not spec'd for combat, the end is decided before the fighting even starts. Then you add in how you can work for months to get a base built, resources gathered, BPs gathered, maps gathered, ships built, tames tamed and bred, and in one day, a stronger Company can wipe you out, leaving you to start all over again. I have seen that take the wind out of the sails of many people. It has come to the point that I realize that our company is still on the island it is on, simply because the bigger companies just haven't decided they want our island yet. In short, the game just isn't fun. And when you have to deal with long standing bugs, like putting foundations down, and then one just won't snap, saying it's blocked, or tames disappearing off of ships for no reason, etc... I could care less about new content. I want bugs fixed, and better game mechanics. Mechanics that make the game more fun for everybody and put an emphasis on skill, not time in game. The good news for me is that Star Citizen 3.8 is very close to being finished and it has a ton of new content and bug fixes.

Dollie responded back in July and from what I've seen the past week and a half most if not all of these issues are still present. WTF is actually happening on a development side to address issues other than trying to develop more buggy DLC that you'll ask us eventually to pay for???

no, its a product, one for wich we paid. thats factually wrong, they spent 6 of the last 10 months working on the console version of Atlas, not in content, not even in anything pc version related there is, is called polish, is called being professional, and how elements are defined to atach to eachother is something so fundamental that you dont even need to delay its improvement because of the development itself. thats like building a house with a poor base and saying is because you might want to remodelate the upper rooms in the future. yeah because lets work for free now? holy molly today's society... because it not about the game having 1 issue, is about the game itself being a compilation of unresolved issues that continue unresolved because the bastards decided to stop working on the pc version of atlas to ficus on the xbox version. what previous titles show is how companies abuse the patiece you talk about to deliver crapy half baked products.

Excuse what behavior? Calling nonsense what it is? There is nothing at all inflammatory, or immature about the post. This isn't a bug where nobody knows it exists. This is a problem that still exists to this day in ARK. It's not new. At some point, games need to be polished, and have persistent bugs fixed. If there is an exploit that they are trying to stop with this...fix the exploit, and remove this old, crusty bandage that was used to cover it up. There is a problem in games today, where no professional testing is done anymore, and we, the players, run from one early access game, to the next. By the time the game gets even close to being polished, the player base has largely moved on. Some because they got tired of the half finished game, and others because they just player it so much, they are now bored with it. They are now playing the latest early access game. It's a never ending vicious cycle. I wish gaming would go back to the way it was when you didn't download, so everything had to be on the CD...the game had to be polished before it shipped. Then, in these early access games, the only way things get fixed is to make noise about what you don't like. A silent player base is assumed to be happy. I would love to be able to just go in and play the game, but it's broke, like every other game these days. Like how the eff do you mess up Mass Effect Andromeda? How do you take a winning formula and just trash it like that? I haven't even gotten to the cheating that goes on, in this game, and so many others. But, we should at least be able to make proper structures that work. The number of times I run into this NONSENSE where a things just won't snap in, or say they are blocked, or appear to highlight where it will snap in, but jumps to another snap point, over and over and over and over. Shall we talk about how gates will only snap inline to an existing wall, not perpendicular to an existing wall, and won't snap inline, or perpendicular to an existing gate? Shall we talk abut how the book case is visually small enough, but physically too tall for a one wall high structure, forcing you to find a work around or just say eff it when there is too much above where you want to place it...too much trouble to demolish something like a resource chest, or several storage containers, just to be able to remove the ceiling, so the book shelf can be placed. How about the fact that a wood ladder won't snap into a hatch frame that is one wall above a floor? I am not being unreasonable. I am not crying over something like the unpolished way that structures snap into the ships, leaving unrealistic, and unsightly gaps, etc... I fully understand that this is something new, and needs time to be polished. I am talking about issues that have been a part of this game engine for years. It's past time for this to be fixed.
  23. 1 point
How about the devs do the fixing. Or, we can have the public fix crime, instead of the police, and have the public teach kids, instead of teachers, and the public fix the plumbing instead of plumbers...yeah, what a weird concept of having the Devs fix problems with the game.
  24. 1 point
How about no. How about games actually get fixed. What a novel concept, right?

Yes when you are asked to join a company there is a merge option in the wheel. Unfortunately people miss this option or are not aware of the implications. A popup/confirmation with explanation would be very handy in this situation.
