As far as I know this topic was just about the sailing issues, I don't think anyone here has actually asked for the whole game to be easier. The solo vs company issue, meaning end game stuff being boss locked etc I believe is still an ongoing debate elsewhere on this forum.

It's true that not everyone likes doing all the things there are to do in the game. I don't really like doing power stones or things that require a big coordinated group to do, mostly because I don't have time for it. But the thing is, I don't expect to be able to have all those rewards because I didn't do the challenge. Why do the people who don't like to travel and get the DPs expect to still get the DPs? It's crap. Do them and get the points or don't do them and don't get the points. Otherwise, if you insist on demanding all the bonuses without having to do anything, I'll have to find a group to start bugging the devs about handing us the kraken rewards and all the powerstones just by going to a Freeport and asking some NPC for them. It's no different really. And what about the people who don't like having to build things? We could have them hand out prebuilt barns, houses, towns, etc. until every island looks exactly the same and we can all build them in 10 minutes flat. Instakill whales and sotd for people who don't like to do that part. What have I left out? Any other parts of the game people don't like?

I bet those bored college kids used fast travel to search the server for offline people. You want that in atlas too?

Fast travel would wreck the game. It wrecks Conan Exiles. Want fast travel, go there. I can agree that the speed could be increased a little bit, but not a huge amount. I like that the map is huge, and so people don't just quickly travel from their grid, to mine. Conan Exiles sucks because it is too easy for people to cover that map. Thus, everyone knows where everybody else's base is. We tried to get started on several servers, but it is just too easy for the Alphas to find you, and raid you...constantly, so you never get a chance to build up. If you are getting built up, it's because the Alphas are letting you. Fast travel turns a large map into a very small map. Fast travel in a single player game...sure, but in an MMO, no...just no. It's hard enough to build up with a Mega or two in your area, harassing you. Imagine if every Alpha in the game had the ability to get to you quick and easy? No...just no. And pirating? I see that a lot. But it could be better with NPC sailing ships to attack, and sink. Making the flotsam more interesting would take some of the boredom away at sea. As it is, most people just sail past it because it isn't worth it. The key isn't fast travel...it's making the sea travel more fun...more things to do while at sea.

Here's a suggestion that I would love to see implemented in game... I played this pirate game on my tablet once, and it allowed you to drop and raise your front and back sails independently of eachother to aid in turning. For example, you're sailing north, and the wind is blowing east. If you want to turn east quickly, you drop your rear sails, and the wind hitting the front sails pushes the front of your ship east. Or if you want to turn west, you drop the front sails, and the wind hitting the rear sails pushes the back of the ship to the east, turning you to face towards the west. I was thinking (xbox controls) you could have LB + Select button to raise or lower rear sails, and LB + Start button to raise and lower the front sails. Not only would it add more to the sailing experience, and add more skill and strategy to ship to ship combat, but it would also give the lieutenant on your ship more to do on the podium. Obviously these controls shoudl be available from the steering wheel too.

I don't see why if anyone likes atlas so much that adding fast travel would make them quit. I and many others wanted more styles of ship and more realistic builds but instead we just got more tames. Which is annoying cos that's why I don't get on with ark having nothing but taming to do most of the time. I joined cos it was going to be a pyrate mmo, now it clearly is not, I still haven't quit. If you want to find reasons to quit a game then you'll find one eventually anyway. Like lots of gamers with families I don't have 9 hours a day to play so yeh for me the sailing can be a pain. And if we all did the thing that was suggested by the people that can play all day, just quit, the game would be dead in 6 months anyway.

I'm also in the camp of wanting sailing speeds increased. I've been playing for 1800hrs and I'm getting tired of just sailing hours on end. If they added more things at sea like real pirate ships to board along with the real NPC then I might not mind so much. I will be glad when they add more things at sea, its badly needed. Why didn't they have real pirate ships from beginning instead of having SOTD? I'm sure it isn't that hard to do just like you spawn in ships that we currently make already. They could have even just fixed the BP sails where the very best can make 2 hour journey cut down to 30 mins and have a sliding scale on how good the BP is. Going out at sea almost begins to feel like a chore, the wind idea needs to change if the BP sails don't. In your mind you just know this game could be a real good pirate game, its just a shame the devs don't think along the same lines.

I was against the idea of storing ships at first, but its become painfully obvious that this is something that needs a serious look. Not only does it assist with "offline" raiding but also can assist with server performance issues as these ships and corresponding mounted AI will be saved and not be active. Average mid to large company will have well over 10 ships at any given time stored which should free up server resources.

The Lord stepped in to help? How nice. Do what everyone else does, Die constantly. There is no quicker way to normalize your vitamins. I have many suicide plans to make life easier (how ironic). Otherwise, spend points into the food tree. Your choice.

As they are primarily pushing pvp in the games features, I often wonder if a lot of the things they do or don't do are there to increase intervals of conflict between players.

I just wish they would key the settler message for when someone actually builds something. Then you have the location and can just go there and look.

I've been both a settler and an island owner, and I can say that the system is powerful enough and shouldn't be any more powerful. I have had bad landlords that popped my bookcases and resource boxes to steal all my shit in the opening days after the last wipe, so I do know that trolling potential is totally there even on a PvE server. HOWEVER, as a land-owner I do know the frustration that comes with people spamming DP beds in the most stupidest locations. People won't take the time to place them on the top of a mountain someplace out of the way, they would rather hide them under a rock on the beach blocking potential new settlers. What land-owners need is just a better way of FINDING those things. Perhaps something like the Flag Aura when you hold 'H' but in a different color/diameter? Then a land-owner can once a day glider around his island and see if there is any new aura's that stand out from the previous day.

The settler notifications are ridiculous. Nobody can figure out what triggers one. Someone harvested something? Someone killed something? It certainly isn't based on building something because you get the messages when they've not done that. So it becomes a stupid treasure hunt every time you get a message to see if anything was built. The best you can do is run around placing a thatch foundation to see if you get the "too close to an enemy" message and see if there's anything thing there. (Hoping that message works because we know the proximity thing is a little buggy). What a waste of time. Before you can do anything gamelike in this game you've got a to-do list - check on crew check on tames, run around the entire island with a thatch foundation, jump on each boat to make sure they don't disappear. (Because while unwanted beds are forever, boats docked in your own harbor are not). The devs realized that unwanted spam on owned islands was a problem and offered a howitzer solution where the island owner could raze the entire island including all their own stuff. That got walked back when everyone pointed out how ridiculous it was. They could have just made the settler notifications sensible and given a longer demolish window..36 or 48 hours or so. Only kiddies can play a game where is you don't log in every damn day all your stuff is ruined.

They really need two things in my opinion... allow pipes to snap to grill (ie, place grill where you want it and then snap a pipe to it) and then out to water supply. Along with that, they need flexible pipes
