ATLAS was never intended as an ARK DLC. Not at any point in its development. That's all.

Something happened to him so now he’s deeply hurt or something. OT: As for the dinos and crabs and all that crap, you already knew they took shit from ARK in the announce trailer so to post this 11 months after that shows me how bad you want attention.

For someone who has no interest in Atlas anymore you Seem quite active on the Forum. Whats so bad that the crabs Look simliar? I mean they are crabs, they have leg's And claws And Not much to Change anyway in the Looks. If you wanna compare all stuff devs Teams copied from their own Games You will spend years.

When I first encountered a lion. I thought cool, that grab would be fun. But now I'm very disapointed. Why cant lions have the pick up ability in pve. When tamed? I would really like to see this. It would be more fun to be able to pick up wild animals and deliver them to your friends. Please please please enable wild dino pickup for lions on pve!

Please ad Jib sails to the game! My suggestion on how to introduce Jib sails beyond the cosmetics. Once a Jib sail is crafted or looted, (maybe have the blueprint found only in sunken ships) ....the player adds it to a box on the ship like a saddle on an animal. You can have different abilities for different Jibs. - Stationary pivoting Jib - Backing Jib - Storm stabilization Jib (keep your ship going in a straight line in a typhoon) different tiers of these give better performance. And complete the look and feel of our ships.

I think you missed one point. Based on this: I'm thinking I understand the complaint better. (Either that or I'm way off base, but it hit a chord) I make these mental lists of the things I want to do in the game. We've been wiped a few times now and each time when I get restart, it seems like an uphill climb to get back to where I was before the wipe so I can continue working on my list. It really feels like you're making no progress at all when you're doing the same thing for the third time just so you can feel like "Ok, NOW I can restart". In that respect, yeah, sailing for mats to rebuild the same ship and buildings you just had wiped out seems like it would deserve a fast-forward button. If that's the case Grapeshot CAN control it, using any of the ways I listed previously in a rant-filled anti-wipe post. As a general game mechanic? No. No way would fast travel with inventories be a good thing for this game. But as a wipe sweetner, a one-time ticket for a boatload of mats post-wipe wouldn't hurt.

The problem here is this, just because someone says the sea trips are too long doesn't mean the same as saying sea travel is boring. I travel for hours sometimes by car, not boring journey's but I wish it was quicker. If it's just boredom then they could easily sort that by expanding the fishing to trophy hunting and rare fish catching etc, or things of that nature. If it's a time issue which I suspect for a lot of us it is, as not everyone has hours every night to play, then that is trickier. Because if you sign off in the ocean, the chances are you'll find you were in it by the next day. If you could safely sign off it would be fine but obviously you can't. What worries me is all that will happen is we'll just get a more hostile environment with sea volcanoes and whirlpools in every grid to stop people getting bored. Which will discourage the newcomer from going anywhere at all. I still remember my first raft being sunk by the SOTD on my first to third outings. What the devs will do if anything about the travel I don't know, but it's not gonna be easy.

I was not complaining. I generally think you are one of the more clearer thinkers on the forum. And your writing skills suggest that you were educated in the prior educational system.

When tames start lagging behind the ship walk to where it was and punch. It forces an update and the tame reappears. Its a synch issue between the client and server. I do this regularly and have never once lost a tame at sea. I've had a few attack sharks because I forgot to put them on passive, but thats on me and I whistled them back to the boat or hopped on them and rode them back.

I was watching sea of thieves the other day, and even though they are cartoony and not much customisation the ships do look good, I like the personal touch to ships in atlas but there are a lot of things they could easily add to make them more realistic. Even the paint is just too old looking when its on. They need to work on these things if they want people to play long term.

In the game or on the forums? We've seen a bunch of new faces here and have been seeing some newbie-type questions. In the game, I'm seeing more people in general , more activity and more visitors to my island. It's strange though..people have said that xboxers don't do in-game chat, and they may be right. Although numbers of people in various zones seem to be up a good bit, when you say hello or ask a question in chat, you're not likely to get an answer. We've routinely got 6 or so people in my zone who have not ever spoken once.

@op maybe try the newest call of duty? lots of us enjoy sailing in a sailing game. thanks. bye.

Adjust your expectations. You shouldn't be able to sail around the globe in one game session, anyway. If you need to get 8 grids away, then plan some stops along the route. There is always a good reason to stop - discovery points, alternate materials for high end BPs, trading with the locals, finding a level 30 tame. Sail 3 zones, and make a stop for something. Log on the next day and sail a few more zones and do something else. Sailing needs some balance, but it's what the game's about. The trip IS the game.

Well, there is fasttravel in the game...….just not for ships (which makes sense, nobody would sail anymore to save time and don´t have to fight) They could give a a new ship type, a very fast one that can´t have cannons on it! Maybe that would help those People that don´t like sailing in a pirate game

The problem with 9 hours is this...You go to work, and that is 8 hours, and a half hour for lunch, typically. So just from the time you arrive at work, to the time you leave, is 8 hours. So then, you have to sleep. 8 hours is recommended. Now add in that you have to shower, and get dressed, and commute to and from work. This leaves about 6 hours left for us to do what we need to do, and want to do...it's our free time. But you also need to eat dinner. You need to do your laundry. You need to take trash out. You have go to the store. I mean look, I can list hundreds of things that real life requires us to do, which is why I had suggested that raids only take place with a war token, with cool downs, etc... Conan has 5 hour raid windows, and yet, the one day me and my friends weren't able to get online for the start, we log in to find the Alpha clan in our base. So much fun. So we left the server. Left the game. Even 5 hours a day require you to spend nearly the equivalent of a full work week...in a game. The game literally becomes a job, unless you just don't care what happens in the game. I mean, you can look to see who is online for 10 hours a day, in these games, and you know who doesn't have a girlfriend/wife. As I understand it, a sizable company in this game, just got wiped today, so they all quit. We had a couple of guys log in to find that their ships had been sunk while they were not able to log in and play. So they quit. It's a problem that these types of games have. A game like Call of Duty, Battlefield, etc., you log in and play when you can, and there are no negative consequences for having a life outside of the game. But games like this require you to be online constantly, or bad things are more likely to happen if you aren't in game. There is no easy answer to fixing this.

"Our decision to wipe the Networks was not made lightly and involved much deliberation and factoring in of technical aspects and the impact on our current PC players. We have made big changes to the game under the hood, revamped the world map with the addition of over 70 new, unique island templates, as well as some considerable optimization changes and limits put in place which required a full data wipe. After these sets of changes, we do not plan to wipe the network again, even with the introduction of additional platforms and new areas & islands further down our development timeline. We value and appreciate the time spent on the game and the only reason we carry out these wipes is after exhausting all possible alternatives and when they become a necessity." You wanted to know where the statement was made. There it is.

Cannons do solid damage to players, but the shots are slow and easily dodged. Not worth the ammo. The best is when an enemy leaves theirs on target all and you can use their cannons to shoot at you and hit their own ships or structures. If you want to know how much damage do single player. Spawn an NPC and put it on a cannon set to target all and drop company. Go stand in front of it and see what happens.

GT: CItodaddy99 (I think-have to doublecheck) I am an old married dude with kids, so I am usually trying to spend as much time in the basement away from them as possible. Usually weeknights 6-9ish and weekends in between soccer/cheerleading and a variety of other crap I don't want to do. Looking to join up with peeps, as I have been solo-ing it, and now am at a point where I think I could use the help. Been mulling over whether or not to use the 120 or so precious gold coins I've been hoarding, on hiring crew. (don't think I could afford to keep them-so haven't decided when I should) I setup my "starter home" in M10 on Ridgesomin next time I am on, ill come by and check you guys out.

I've seen a lot of comments about sailing taking too long. Most of the time I don't find it terrible, but I've spent the last HOUR trying to cross ONE grid. I'm just trying to end my voyage of resource gathering, but I can't reach my harbor due to poor wind direction and very poor wind. I'm literally going 3 knots top speed. I'm just waiting for a level 30 Galleon to spawn in front of me that's impossible to out sail. What we need to combat this sheer unproductive boredom is the option for your crew to get off the cannons and get on the oars and ROW. Turn it into a mini game or something. Have special Planks with Oar Holes and Oars, or mounts on the railing of the deck. Give me SOMETHING TO GO FASTER!

It's pretty awful to be honest. The roadmap is from August with a list of bug fixes that they've bundled into "Phase 1". Those are things that should be fixed within a week or two. If you want a successful game then you have to aim to be ahead of the speed people are playing at. This game isn't that. The development cycle is ridiculously long and they have some serious issues with bringing anyone into their development team that has any idea of game optimisation. For what the game is it's damn slow and clunky. I'd invest so much money and time into this game if it had a good development crew. ARK proved that they don't have that and it hasn't improved here. Two phenomenal game ideas that just didn't get to where they needed to in order to attract the masses.

Please make it so Xbox can lower the details and graphics in game . We will not be able to compete against PC until this happens. I do not understand why these options are not available on any console. We need to be able to fully reduce ground clutter , sky quality , render distance , ECT.

Depends on how they impliment it, if they do. An allies tab with tick box permissions, crew ships, captain ships, ride tames, access inventories etc. would probably appeal to most people.
  27. 1 point
Roger that. Haven't noticed if the math is off anymore. Just enjoy the ride, you have hundreds if not thousands of hours to go. I am currently max level 106, have been working on it since the new wipe pretty seriously. It just becomes a "What are you grinding for?" exercise soon enough. Once you hit 70 the exp slows waaaay down for maps, and anything else that isn't an exploit gives shit exp for the time sink. Good news is once you are above 60 you have enough points to do most things in game without having to worry about respec for different stuff.

As far as I know they have been able to have accordions for a while. I always have a npc playing some music on my boat. isnt that whole wild pirate stuff on single player? Haven’t seen them on officials yet. They have already nerfed a lot of stuf and I am taking on 10 yetis at a tome with my bear( gotta get that mythos) so hopefully the nerfs don’t keep coming. i understand why people are saying things are too easy. And mind you there is only really 3 of us that play a lot in our company.

Just as the topic says. The rope bed is a bit old speaking as a 1st week player. Can we get a captains double bed for ships and land? The ability to make an actual Pier would be great. I've seen a lot of creativity on Lawless servers for people making do with what's available. Even some variation on storage containers would be great. I've seen desks and nightstands and even wardrobe closets and mods for single player. I do think it's about time that devs make their own to add even more playability to the game. I'm sure their ideas for new enemies in the future but that's another suggestion as well. I've had to start over three times and all the available items now or just becoming a bit generic. Adding more ship classes and whole skins might add even more variation. Even after 3 wipes I still I think this is a good game that could be even greater.

Something that is not resource heavy like a brown texture that is on the land that will block spawns of trees within a certain distance so the tames you require us to play with can atleast move freely since their pathing is garbage at times

I think Atlas PVE is a very different game compared to PVP, and the people who play it have a different mindset. Its geared more toward people who like building, who like the monotony of grinding, who just want to explore without worrying about losing their stuff, and probably some role-play aspects. I personally have no interest in PVP as I just love to gather and build, so PVE is the perfect game mode for me. I have a Brig that can kill any SotD so I don't have to really worry about that aspect, and I'm free to sail and explore at my own pace. So far that seems to be a common thing from PVE players I've talked to.

i dont need to, -how many type of ships did we have at start? 4 (raft doesnt rly count), how many we have now after 10 months? 4 -how many different sea activities have been added to the sea in the last 10 months? none if you are considering a "water mule" content, well you might just want to go farmville, at least thats a finished game, and dont get me wrong you are welcome here, but if your interests swing to the farming/taming side there are much better game for that than atlas.
  39. 1 point
no, its a product, one for wich we paid. thats factually wrong, they spent 6 of the last 10 months working on the console version of Atlas, not in content, not even in anything pc version related there is, is called polish, is called being professional, and how elements are defined to atach to eachother is something so fundamental that you dont even need to delay its improvement because of the development itself. thats like building a house with a poor base and saying is because you might want to remodelate the upper rooms in the future. yeah because lets work for free now? holy molly today's society... because it not about the game having 1 issue, is about the game itself being a compilation of unresolved issues that continue unresolved because the bastards decided to stop working on the pc version of atlas to ficus on the xbox version. what previous titles show is how companies abuse the patiece you talk about to deliver crapy half baked products.

Corner pillars 1. Place a foundation. 2. Looking at one side of the foundation, place a fence foundation snaped to one corner coming towards you. 3. You can now snap a pillar at the other corner facing you. 4. remove fence foundation. you can use the snap points of this pillar to place multiples. (This is not however snaped to the foundation and will not support any stuctures it is on the corner of.) the dock in the image is supported by other pillars, the building uses the corner pillars for a rustic look.

There shouldn’t be any timers on tames. Your not around they starve and die.

As said before, give something more meaningfull at your destination, and the sail speed become secondary. Otherwise: If i only sail to pickup some tames, and i can plan my journey it takes 6min per grid. At this speed means you can go everywhere on the map in about 1 hour. Oc the ship is more then empty (~12% load)! The hardest part is sailing trough equatiorial where there is no space. I have a 3 122% handling sail (fighter) brig, which is fun to sail, not to slow, wider angle and turnability of a schooner and beyond. A good BP of this is a welcomed game changer. The speed sails BPs need a purpose asap. To fix sailspeed they can not easyly increase the max speed. When traveling with 21 knots, you can not reakt to SotD with a galleon, neighter correct a beaching course other then spam x. Going fullspeed is taxing. Also avoiding other player ships can be hard (not that it matters in PVE). You might deload while laoding an island. I would like to have (speed) sails have a higher efficacy for lower wind senario. Like atm speed at lowest wind is 0.57 times highest wind (not storm). How about making speed sails to bring it to ~0.75 or even higher? That would be 16.35 knots instead of 12,4 knots for a 21,8 knots topspeed galleon. Kinda reasonable.

There has to be a better way to get 14 grids without watching the water pass by for 2 hours. In the past you could watch tv or youtube while traveling. Now you risk your ship if you look away for 15 seconds. The SOD are nothing but a pain now. I don't even have cannons unlocked yet and yet I can't sail a grid without dealing with them. They render leaving you seconds to react if in your path. Now. the whales! What happened with the whale? Is it birthing season. Their numbers seem to have just exploded recently. You know what sucks. You spends a few hours farming mats for a brig and a whale renders right in your path. You are full speed heading to it, it's aggroed on you coming at you full speed, you can't turn fast enough so you hit head on and come to a full stop. Hours of farming lost in 20 seconds. Boy that's fun! We really need some form of fast travel with your ship and goods. Face it, it's not like we have some booming trade market that's going to be unbalanced. I'm sure some may like to roleplay the long day at sea but I'm guessing most don't want to spend their free time watching the sea pass by dodging SOD and whales. One downside I see about Atlas is that it is always making you spend time doing things you have no interest in doing, just to do the things you want to do. Like extended sea travel and low yield mat farming and now almost no xp for killing animals. We need something like the Eve's warp gates. At least getting us to the general area we are headed.
