Okay folks. I am going to post this here and see who salutes it. I of the opinion that the Silo needs to be able to store more than just berries for the crew. If we are able to feed the crews from the food larders whatever we put in there then it should be the same for the Silo. It seems very silly to restrict the silo to ONLY BERRIES. I am curious what everyone else thoughts on this are. I am hoping to hear some feedback from one if not all of the dev's on why they did this.

This rag-doll effect where the ship flips around wildly, causing a massive amount of damage and you have no control whatsoever from literally just touching a sandbar or rock hidden under the water surface even while moving really, really slowly is the worst way to lose a ship. When this happens, you can't manoeuvre, can't repair or replace planks as you can't move about because of the ship flipping all over the place. All you can do is sit back and watch most of the planks get destroyed and your ship sink. I've had it happen to me on many occasions when moving really carefully and slowly when arriving at and leaving islands, out in the open sea when there has been a whale in view but not that close that it would come into contact with the ship and definitely no where near the hull when camming under the water to look. Seems like some kind of physics problem to me. Sure, I would expect to take damage from being careless and bumping into sandbanks, rocks or whales and have to repair or maybe even replace planks but not have the ship flip about to the point that you can't do a thing about it. After this has happened to you a few times, sailing in anything larger than a Schooner can sometimes feel rather like covering the soft, dangly collection of objects in your pants in cat food and jiggling them about above a hungry lion in a small cage. I try not to sail without the sextant buff or constantly bringing the map up and zooming in when approaching land whilst camming under the water and looking around the hull and I always drop the anchor as far out as possible. Best to have a slightly longer swim than you would like than to have to retrieve your stuff and build another ship.

dude this aint world of warships, a simple wooden ship is a simple wooden ship, the hell are you talking about random malfuntions, penetration and shit, you just have some big ass iron balls and you shoot them at other wooden ships until they sink, nice and simple. i do agree with you in that the game lacks diversity tho.

I still haven’t experienced most of those bugs yet. My buddy did however, have to deal with the walls disappearing or breaking bug. He had to build out a little further then before. It seems as though it is actual specific spots that are bugged. Once he built outward more the walls stayed. it will definitely take more than 3 months for me to get bored. I am still only able to play a couple of days a week until I get laid off so it will probably be months before I can even get the discovery points done, let alone get to the rest of the game. then again I am not rushing through content though either. I have agreed with other people that if they had rushed through everything they could get bored easily. It won’t be that way with our group. Just taking our time.

Are you sure it's not your company mates trolling you? as when you put on the dive suit it removes it from the player already using it.

Something that is not resource heavy like a brown texture that is on the land that will block spawns of trees within a certain distance so the tames you require us to play with can atleast move freely since their pathing is garbage at times

For pvp servers anyway I believe the fog of war on the map hiding all islands unless you've sailed there should be brought back from season 1. This is pvp, if some random company sinks my boat i shouldn't be able to open my map and find their island in a tile I've never been to. Also makes exploring and finding an enemies island a lot more fun and exciting. Having to interact and talk to other companies if you want to find where someone is.

I was complaining because i paid for a game with pirates but i only received a pile of trash with bears. I was complaining because i paid for a game based on UE4 but i only got an underperforming heap of bugs that made the game run with <40 fps in FHD on an RTX 2080. (Seriously, HOW THE FUCK DID THEY DO THAT?) I was complaining because i paid for a PVP enabled game but i only got an offline raid simulator where the bigger corp always wins and the bigger ship is always better and literally everything is one dimensional. I had high hopes when i learned that there was a new chief game designer assigned, but everything i have read about the game ever since failed to raise any desire in me to have another look at it again.

MMO stands for Multi Massive Online not Forced Masive Online, so how he wants to play is most likely his decision

more boat stuff definitely. structures that conform to the sides of the ship would be nice. I dislike having to building a wall perpendicular to the side of the ship and having the gap between the end and the planks. Also, please remove the nubs from the bottom of ceiling tiles when on a ship

I'd donate if you sort out how easy it is to wipe and offline raid at least reduce the timer to 4-5 hours of war Time. This would reduce the amount of trolls and griefers and keep ppl in the game longer that are new
  16. 1 point
Agreed. I was looking forwards to Blackwood being released so I could restart my unofficial server with a setup that would be easier to maintain. However, the Island razing idea sounds like it offers too much scope for griefing. So I guess I'm out.

nerfing the glider is ok as long as they put the resources ie gems,in lower areas and reachable areas so I won't need it.

The raze is one of the worst ideas for this game I've heard in a long time. Recap of claims (PVE version) - Unlimited claims - nobody was happy because everyone wants to own land and some of the players hogged it all Claim changes to own an entire island. - Everyone still can't own land because now there's really not enough to go around, but an attempt at balance is made with the new "build anywhere" rules. Even though island ownership is "capped" by company size, the large companies surprise no one by leaving the big islands alone and grabbing up all the small ones. Smalls and solos have to content themselves with the "build anywhere" mechanic. A server wipe is conducted to make the change. So many people leave the game that the repercussions of this move aren't felt in full force. Claim Razing - "build anywhere" is thrown out the window and server wipes (minus player characters) are now enabled for the player base to inflict on each other. On the plus side, this may entice new players to the game when they realize they could claim an island as though it is pristine. Also, the player numbers are so low now, that given some warning of this mechanic, existing players could try to claim land in advance of being wiped. On the minus side -this may not entice new players to the game when they see that anything they build can be wiped out by another player at whim. There is no way this mechanic scales well to a fuly loaded server if many players join the game, as everyone will not be able to own land and the penalties for being a settler have become so severe that the option is even more unacceptable than on the previous iteration of claims design. Here's what's unclear - What problem is this new mechanic attempting to fix? Has anyone anticipated the effect of this "fix" on small companies and solos, especially on a fully loaded server. Has anyone anticipated the effect on brand new players joining a server that is half-loaded or fully loaded? Has anyone run the classic what-if scenarios for abuse of this new mechanic?

Absolutely hate the 'raze' addition. This means that any day if my island owner decides to quit, someone else can come along and entirely wipe everyone's work on the island. @Dollie @Jatheish You honestly feel this is an encouragement for people to play? I for one know the moment someone new claims the island i'm on and if they wipe it then i'm done, i'm not rebuilding. I don't understand how in a PvE world you guys feel that it's ok for someone to come along one day and wipe everyone else.

At least we still have lawless... those servers with a consistent, predictable set of rules since practically launch... And yeah, we were about to move our breeders to an allies island... Now to take them back to lawless. Lose our entire stock because the island changes hands? Thats just dumb.
  21. 1 point
I agree. We have 2 bases on islands for breeding that we have invested several months in, on islands that we no longer own. one of them has had 2 owners after us and had this been implemented back then they would have definitely wiped us out. This is not a good idea in my opinion.
  22. 1 point
Ok... Not so sure about the raze. Doesn't that mean any people who've been living on unclaimed islands for over a month are just SOL? Glad we never left lawless. We didn't get an island fast enough to have a good claim base and this is going to massively punish those who built on 122 point islands. Plus the "pay for everybody's repairs" bugs mean even people who own islands could get razed now if the bugs eat all their gold (which happened to us a couple days ago and 3k gold vanished from our company only flag in about 8 hours) Lawless... where there has been the most consistent laws since launch. Yeah.. it's now way too dangerous to build on claimed land. Our allies quit the game and we lose our base on their land? That's a terrible idea.

Tutorial: Tattoo's, Flags, and You! Hey everyone, After seeing the great work by u/Mijeman from this thread and seeing the comment from u/BurlyusMaximus, I felt like I needed to deep dive into the mechanics of being able to upload artwork. (Not everyone is as talented as Mijeman, I mean just look at this.) I've done a lot of customized content for APB (All Points Bulletin), POTBS (Pirates of the Burning Sea), just to name a few... and I'm looking forward to bringing more creations to Atlas as we move through early access and release! Now please forgive the roughness of this guide and it's images. I really just wanted to put this together so the community had a better idea on how to bring in images to customize their characters, companies, and ships. Please let me know if anything is unclear or if there are questions. Requirements outside of Atlas: ARKpnt Editor (Version 1.23 updated June 8, 2018) can be found here and on this thread, Photoshop/GIMP/Image editing software Character template which I made can be found here: Template 1 and Template 2 Character Template: So this is a rough mockup I made today. It was a little difficult as anytime I started adding a ton of color the game would disconnect me, I would come back and lost all my progress as well as my dyes. As you can tell it's not really complete, so hopefully we can get this fully fleshed out later. Alright, let's get to it! Step 1: Create a paintbrush. You'll need the following materials: 1 Hide 20 Thatch 1 Wood Step 2: Create some dye. I recommend just doing one color initially to set up your templates, then once you get the hang of things you can go nuts with color. Dye generally requires berries and a fully filled waterskin (100 units). Be sure to have a rain barrel, open the inventory slots of the barrel, place the skin into it, and it will fill (as long as the actual barrel has water available). Each 100% waterskin will yield 5 dyes of your chosen color. Step 3: Create your base file If you're going to make a tattoo, you'll need to equip the paintbrush and right click. This will open the bodypaint/tattoo window. Be sure you click 'Tattoo' at the bottom to change over. Go ahead and drag the dye over onto the paintbrush to apply the paint. Once the bar is filled you can then select the brush and start painting on your character. (Remember you don't have to waste a ton of paint or be fancy, we're just doing this so we can save over it.) Once that is complete, choose the 'Save Paint' button at the top. The game will then prompt you to enter in a name, go ahead and do that now and jot it down. If you're going to make a flag, you'll need to equip the paintbrush and left click your claim flag. It's a similar process so just follow along. Step 4: Find your file and prepare it in ARKpnt Remember the name you jotted down? No? Guess you'll have to go back and see what you called it... do you have it now? Awesome! You'll find these files in a folder similar to this path: Steam\SteamApps\common\ATLAS\ShooterGame\Saved\MyPaintings Go ahead and fire up ARKpnt Editor and click on 'Load ARKpnt file' Load your basic .pnt file to establish the dimensions. This will be helpful when you go to re-upload the file. Step 5: Open the character template in your image editing software I apologize that it's so rough, but you can use this as your base for placement locations on your character. Be sure to take the image you want to use and overlay it where you want it to appear. Once you have your placement set, be sure to hide any other layers besides the tattoo you wish to use. Step 6: Convert the .png file to a .pnt file Go back into ARKpnt Editor and click on 'Load Image'. You'll now be using this program to open your .png file that you edited with your tattoo. Be sure to click 'Yes' when it asks you if you want it to reduce the colors (in the few tests I've ran, items just show better when this option is selected.) You should now see a large grey box and your tattoo! Let's go ahead and now click on 'Save as ARKpnt file'. You'll be using the program to SAVE OVER your base file that we quickly made in-game. Be sure you say that you're okay with saving over the file. Step 7: Get back ingame and apply your new tattoo! Go back into Atlas, use the paintbrush on yourself, and now click on the left icon to open the paint file. It should still retain the old name you gave it, but it should now allow you to apply the new design! Be careful, if you added tons of color and fancy stuff- it's going to eat up a LOT of dye. This is why I suggested starting out with something basic/easy. The game will automatically apply the new design, use up your dye, and you'll be sailing the seas in style from now on! I hope this makes sense. I'm available on here and reddit under Din_Narcotic if you have questions or if I can be of any assistance. I hope this helps people out!

the change is good because now you have a reason to have an island. maybe need to lower the island points that got raised or maybe new islands incoming soon. if you do not have one join a company or go solo laweless brand new players will join or play solo like in every other game. scrubs on islands that have build before claiming to save points or gold have 2 days time to move, and in pve they always say i was first... (big islands)

I understand the PVE complaints about raze, but, on the other hand, something like this is completely necesary in pvp. My company conquered our main from another company long before i joined them, and they couldnt clean up all of the enemy structures untill recently because one or many of the old owners came to visit every few days to reset the timers. Even with the fast decay thing, meaning you don't have to worry about single pillars now, it's a huge grind to eliminate all of the bigger structures. In long pvp defenses the island get so spammed that becomes hardly usable even for the original owner. So 12k Gold to get the job done with a single click it's a huge QOL improvement.
