Hello everyone, In the first few hours of playing Atlas I realized that this game has massive RP potential. It's slowly growing, but a handful of us have started the beginnings of constructing an RP Community. No struct rules; follow the law, play in character, etc. Looking to build a lax progressive environment that everyone can immerse into and experience a dynamic narrative that plays out all on its own. I guess you'd say it's a light/medium RP, but RP in a sense that you're living in a town, possibly have a home, you make friends, perhaps you have a job or you're an adventurer who goes out to sea looking for spoils to bring back to the community. But to do that you, you had to pay the captain of that ship to take you out, but he had to pay a crew to ensure a safe voyage... you see where I'm going A few steps for the journey ahead Acquire a small group of sane folk to construct a foundation for the future townsman/women. They will be known as "The Founders" Founders Phase: This phase we will do our best to solidify our way of life and to develop a name for our company. If we acquire a full square we will adopt a new name and declare ourselves a sovereign nation. Settlers Phase: This is where we try to find the best possible land of our own. Ideally there will always be settlers looking out for new lands. Builders Phase: Once a land is founded our builders will start to construct the towns infrastructure. (One of our founders has come up with "Elshire" for the capitol island) Law of the land: For example, theft, building without a permit or "no build" zones" may come with a fine. Those represent some of the plans I've come up with for starting the community. I'd love to run the town as a democracy and allow the outcome to play dynamically to see what stories unfold. If you're interested in founding this community please join the (very empty) facebook group Atlas RP and/or the XBOX club Atlas RP (Both names subject to change). Looking for open, creative, flexible thinkers who tend to get along with others and work well in groups for founders, but everyone interested may join the FB group. This is a work in progress and doesn't cost anything to join. Thank you for suffering through my slightly insane proposal and for anyone who didn't want to read it all, here comes the TL;DR. TL;DR: Building a light/medium RP community on the Gorgons Gaze server (PVE). This idea is currently in development and we need a few people for the initial set up. Join the FB Group Atlas RP if interested.

back on the day During the peak of times of piracy, the most used ships used by pirates used to be schooners and sloops due to the speed they had compared to their larger counterparts. the balance was perfect .... having a heavier armor and guns would mean you would be a lot slower than a lighter boat. Thr game is completely wrong when it comes to terms of sailing, more sails dont mean more speed... Make sloops and schooners faster. For a more balance PVP experience and the slowest of them all should be the largest ships. How can a galleon outspeed a sloop? Thats just inacurate. make sloops unable to carry that many canons maybe but make them fast. More suitable for boarding.

Something that is not resource heavy like a brown texture that is on the land that will block spawns of trees within a certain distance so the tames you require us to play with can atleast move freely since their pathing is garbage at times

To Grapeshot. Your community has created servers which actually mix PVP servers and PVE servers on 1 map. PVE usually existing around equatorial and tropical zones, while desert, temperate and tundra are PVP. This allows all players of all play styles to play together with very little issue. Each zone server is set up independently, incorporating PVE or PVP settings, and I think they have a superior idea. It opens more of the map to claimable space as well, removing any need for lawless zones, which take up a ridiculous amount of official servers. Having the PVE zone around the middle zones allows easy movement to PVP areas where certain resources are needed, without having to extend themselves too far into hostile territory, plus not many PVP players are just kos, so the danger risk of quick resource trips is actually pretty low. It also gives PVP players the ability to help subsidize the PVE economy, by bringing in those less common resources to PVE players, without the ability to attack. There's also the potential for hiring ships and captains for escort protection to power stone and Fountain of Youth locations. Whole new dynamics and ways to play, all while extinguishing the lawless zones made unnecessary by neutral, everyone can build, claims. I understand these would constitute big changes, requiring some map changing as well as reassigning each server to PVP or PVE settings, but overall I think it would be a good move in the long run. 4 Public Official servers, all open to everyone, as well as each new server cluster you add to the list as the game's player base continues to grow.

WARNING : Before getting triggered like stupid kids which don't read and understand the statements and prefer to start the war of stupidity, try to analyze my statement then let's discuss ! It's all about PVE servers feeling on what i will tell you below !!! Why I say it's no fun at all !? 1) The Ships of the Damned on sea : they DO NOT respect the wind given by the sector/region (cluster server) while the players have to get that bloody wind which many times has lowest intensity and other times goes round and round while you are chased by the damned ships which has cannons placed 360 (Yeah ! You haven't implemented the same to the players ships, UNFORTUNATELY !) and can move anytime to you without being conditioned by the sector wind !!! It's like being chased by the Alien ship while you don't have fuel for your engine. 2) Power Stone Island - I guess developers have thrown all the in-game creatures here and without conditions. I really don't see a challenge here ! It's more like a frustrating try to get (Boss/the Stone) in a stupid and filthy way due to many aspects. Yeah ! spawn every second many mega powerful and tall creatures into a small room and let the players get the stone from the middle room ! Very "challenging" ! 3) The power Stone > you get it from the Boss, then travel to the place where you activate it (the cave full of creature that most of the time have infinite respawn time and most of the time it's very impossible to activate your stone) ! Secondly, some players that don't have the stone wait you in cave to die and steal your stone which you got it, sometimes, very hard to get it ! The PVE rules are very misunderstood by many players that came here not to have fun but destroy the feeling that remained after you got frustrated by getting things in this game and are not delivered be the Devs as they, maybe, wanted to !!! 4) How about making pace white flags for players ships that do not want to fight all day with the region galleons and brigantines that spawn into your face instantly when bypassing regions and sometimes you don't have a fair fight against them due to the wind and many other things !? Where's the story ??? You start with nothing (no intro, no nothing) -> advance through levels and kill some pirates and creatures that most of the time have no rules then what !? Please, put some stories, some loot boxes with stories into them like in ARK OR the temples as they get discovered ! - Make the artifacts that trigger the power stones to be bounded on the player's ID name ! (if the server drops or you lose connection while in a fight, you lose EVERYTHING and players will drop this game for something more fun and relaxing than THIS ! ) - Implement some new thing in your game like mines with resources, carts, land pirates AI that wait you by the entrance/exit to steal the gold/resources from you, make more interesting assets for farmers (crops/resources) like new rusty land/sea oil rigs, maybe i want a land train on our islands !? Make your game to shine, not be a same shit but different but still the same as ARK ! PVE life should be fun, exploring while the PVP is for those who like to fight while the masters are not home and fill their ego with another victorious BS !

First of all I’ve been playing Atlas on the official PVE server. Here are two ideas that would greatly improve Atlas, at least from my point of view. 1) Add decorations to craft. Decor is greatly needed for PVE 2) Player shops offer deliveries. Now I have not used player shops. Are they still around? But one of the biggest drawbacks is time spent on hauling stuff. If player shops allowed for delivery to your shop it would not only make things easier but also make more players buy from other players.

Though I agree they should fix it, and that it is awful compared to how it was before the wipe, most of the time when you are dead stopped it is because your wind display for the ship hasn't caught up with the direction the wind is actually facing. This is most common when coming out of/going into a rainstorm, or transitioning between an A and O grid. The A and O transition is easy, if you are going east, just turn your sails 45 degrees to the left, if you are going west, turn them 45 degrees to the right. For rainstorms, the best method is remembering which way the wind was facing before it started raining, and when you are ready to zone, point your sails back in that direction. The worst is going into a zone with a rainstorm because you don't really have any idea how long it has been raining, and therefore how far the wind has changed. In those cases, I usually just note how slow I am going, and if it is below 5 knots, wildly swing my sails to their other extreme. Note that you can actually see which way the wind is really blowing by either looking at the waves, or if you have placed a flag on your ship, it will be flapping in the direction of the "real" wind as well. I usually place one on the second tier of my rearmost speed sail so that it is super visible while piloting.

Even in PVE the ships are constantly maintained by the crew “sweeping”. Natural ship deterioration makes this necessary. I tell my crew all the time that if you’re not sweeping, your swimming.

The PC players are also lagging badly. Maybe just not AS badly. With no real restrictions on building, they just layer thier bases till the island is lagged to hell.

24 minutes maybe tops. Look, we should be accepting and ok with people having a space to save things in that we know will still be there when we return. It's not like you have unlimited weight on a ship, so you cant stock it up like a base. The #1 reason people quit, and will continue to do so, is becuase it sucks dick to rebuild everything every other time you log in. If my base is raided, it kinda sucks, but at least the structure remains. When my ship is sunk....every time I'm like fuck it, I just wont build one. Tooooo easy to sink compared to the time and effort to build another. Everything disappears if your logged out to long. That solves that issue.

Ok, either you have missunderstood or... well lets charitably go with that eh. Some people change there name/profile to 123 etc to prevent "other people" from using outside game services to track thier characters location. The one and only effect this has on you personally is if you yourself were planning on using these external services to track peoples game location (what many would consider cheating). This is only for steam ID's. I am not aware of any way of using an external website to track Xbox ID's personally

1 to 4 is pretty much the same. As for 1, it has always been like this. For me, I play this game since launch and I have never had any problems with ships spawning right in front of me and if they did, I was gone before they knew it. So maybe it’s a matter of experience. As for 2, I like the power stone islands because right now, they’re the only challenge in this game. The only thing where you need to be on the lookout. So I like them, but that differs per person I guess. As for 3, that’s just part of the game and kinda... logic. I mean, if you fail to do it someone else can get your stuff. If PVE makes it so that nobody can steal your stuff after you die then you can just go and go and go. What’s the fun in that. And 4, I seriously don’t get it. You’re playing a pirate game and as you might know, pirating is all about sailing and treasures and fighting enemy ships. Now if you don’t want to do that, or you want to live on a server that has 0 challenge and 0 chances of being attacked once in a while, I’d suggest you get yourself a private server and make yourself invincible. But it differs per person as to how their experiences are. For me, your post is nonsense and doesn’t make any sense, but for someone else that differs again.

35m XP (level 150) and a 130 crow. Come back in 6 weeks. (Dont quote the 6 weeks, it is just a wild guess) Today you can be about level 100 with a 70 crow. That would be (200+37+50)/20 = 13,5% Max is (300+60+50)/20 = 20,5% cb max

I've been playing on an official PVE server since the game came out on Xbox in Oct. After playing for a month, i really think you just need one thing that would improve it overall: I think if you can add the Wild Pirate Encampments (WPE) and have them patrol the seas and attack islands, it would really keep the PVE experience in check. Plus it would make more sense then the SOTD everywhere you go. Make the SOTD really rare, with a lot of loot (kind of like a Treasure within the whole experience of finding them). I haven't played against the WPEs in single player but here is my idea for how they would operate: Each Grid has two or 3 (WPE companies) and they would follow a course on attacking an island. The WPEs would operate like aggressive animals and attack your structures (essentially helping cleanup abandoned taming pins and all kinds of spam/griefers etc.) so if you build on lawless you potentially can be attacked by a WPE. This way people will be more apt to try and land on another players island and try and join them or just pay them tax. (tax has to be affordable though) I think this would be a natural check on the PVE side and help bring people together and have more fun.

Even in a pvp it has to be fair for all style of player current conditions. Leavs the game only playable by people how play 24/7 or with large companies. Even with large company people are haveing issues with off line raiding being too esy. Not saying it needs to be taken out but make it harder and for ship no offline raiding and safe when docked. Also we need enemy weight no efect on ships because there exploring that as well. We want epic ship fights not, another base build game. After all real pirates went after ships out in open waters not ports they were hired to stop supply lines from reaching enemy ports. Docked ships where to high risk.

This is a view of the topside of our galleon. You can see the top decks that we used, our ramp to the bottom deck, and how we filled in the gap in the mid-level deck.
  19. 1 point
And as an addition to this, you get the chance for the AMAZING 20% when you hit lvl 150. GL with that You know very well that celio has hit lvl 145 in mid-summer and he had one of the best Int gears in the server. And he was playing practically solo. Since the spring we were 2-3 active in our company which hasn't stopped us of getting lvl 135 and having the best set on the server. So the dev's excuse "equal chance for the small companies" is one of the bullshittiest excuses possible. Its all about having a clue what you want to achieve, how you want to achieve it, dedication and most of all - understanding the game mechanics.

He said they built walls around like a castle. This leads me to believe they have a open courtyard. He mentioned spamming foundations, but that's not going to do it. Its still open land. If you want to stop the spawns it needs to be a complete enclosed structure. Tames should always be inside completely covered enclosures with perfectly snapped foundations or lifted off the ground otherwise you will continue to have this issue.
  21. 1 point
You cannot prevent it. It's a simple math problem. How many walls can you build around your egg? Keep in mind, I only need to blow through 1 single spot. Every layer adds a good increase in % more labour for you, but always is a diminishing % more for me. You build 1 wall, I break through 1 wall with some effort. You build a 2nd layer, more matts and time than the first layer, but my effort is doubled becuase I blow through 2 walls in one spot. You build a 3rd layer, and your work is starting to multiply exponentially, however its only 50% more effort for me than your 2 walls were. Your 4rth wall will be many times more work than the 3rd. While only increasing my effort by 33% over the 3rd wall. See it drifting apart yet? On your 100th layer, you have thousands of time more effort, to make me spend 1% more effort. It's called a design flaw, OR its intentional. Your never safe.
  22. 1 point
Its just a different kind of PvP. At this point I have come to the conclusion that this is in fact the way the game was intended to be played. A pirate would definitely raid you in the dark of night if given the choice. The game promotes offline raiding and gives no incentives what so ever to actually fight someone on thier terms. It will definitely drive people away, we already know this. I still maintain we need ships invulnerable while anchored as a start to ever maintaining population on servers.
  23. 1 point
Been playing the game since it came out and still enjoying it, however one thing that I really miss from the start is the original blank map that filled in as you explored. It was fun to just explore, not being sure when or were you'd find land. Seeing the trails on the map where you'd been, trying to fill in the missing bits. Just gave you something else to do on PVE, which certainly didn't hurt. So does anyone else miss that blank map?

player support is as usless as feedback in this game mate, that being said statistically speaking anything that is/was ever fun in this game had/has the higher chances of getting removed/nerfed so i wouldnt put my hopes on it coming back. omg a game in wich you get stronger after spending hundreds of hrs in it!!! HERESY!!!

Okay where do i Start? Basicly the speedsails are 40% faster in a good wind angle than Handlingsails. Also handlingsails catch wind better they are only faster at about 70 degrees. So 35 degrees to the left And right when going from the southside of the Ship. Even if they are called handlingsails they only turn your ship faster with bad wind or at certain angles. The real differences between those 2 Starts when using higher Tier blueprints. The acceleration is a max speed Bonus that adds about 1,5% max Speed per % on acceleration. The effective angle increases the degree at which wind is caught, which means that if you have effective angle on them you could Sail against the wind with almost full Speed. The Turning effectivness on speedsails defines how fast your ship Turns with good wind And full Speed. Sorry for that wall of Text but my Smartphone sucks. Might add a detailed Sail Guide at some point^^

Must agree that it was a good change. 20% CB still is a good upgrade to good blueprints And the Gap between a high end craft And beginner ones is Smaller which benefits Smaller companys. Not sure how many People or companys had proper int gear but on PVE only a very small number ( under 10 ) had good gear And a high Level. Solo or small companys just couldnt effort the millions of Gold And Mythos to Upgrade
  27. 1 point
yes they where power creeping there way to total power! I totally agree with the changes to int. make this a skill based game not a equip based one.

This would be cool! I also suggested winches in my Journal II for transporting items over long vertical stretches. Personally I think crew manned structures that passively generate resources would be great for late-game as well. (ala Mineshafts, Lumbermills, Quarries, etc...)
  29. 1 point
Implement rails as a way to transfer resources fast. This must be a mid to late game way for enstablished companies not to waste much time getting overecumbered do the tidious resource transports from vaults to harbors, from heavy nodes( like metal farms) etc. This is a way to make logistics way easier

50% of the potential audience is already pre-filtered out of games like this due to religious indoctrination about games, computers, popular media, science, and fiction. We are all just operating inside our our personal tolerance for things like superstition, religiosity, sex, and violence, whether that's driven by our moral compass or an external source who tells us what we need to think, it doesn't matter. I am pretty sensitive to the violence we need to inflict on animals to tame them, but it forces me to think in the first person about those things, and in this case, reinforces my convictions there. I for one am glad that most of us live in a society where very few things are pre-ordained as bad, evil, or unacceptable for discussion, and we have tools like games, books, and movies where we can experience the margins to form opinions of our own.

Build Rope Ladders in Loom and attach them from the top. You can also use a grappling hook to get up there. The grappling hook is also an easy way to attach the rope ladders (you can build while hanging).

In present state, for the "single player" server. You log off you lose everything. That's how it goes. So, for players that are not even level 10. No way to get started now where to go, no where to store anything.
  37. 1 point
simple blockage them, you know like pirates r know how do. then when raiding time happens raid them. ho wait they might call on the "big" friends (mega compnies) to help well pirates had to look out for the navy so like pirates do they would scope hide and strike to grab some loot and scoot. wow sounds like a pirate/sailing/living world to me um there not going to be ebery type of metal on one island so trading different type s to I don't know fight sotd or do treasure map and what not will happen

.... Im sorry, I know that's the meta and it's intended to be so. However this is generally the beginning of the end for you or your crew. Here's the thing. You join a big company, and they give everyone the same access and can all get on with no power trips and it CAN be a good thing. It's nice to see 100k metal already farmed for you. It's nice to have tames already bred and waiting for you. That's not my experience. Let's say TPG (or any mega) wants you to merge with them. You have a 10-20 roster, everyones full access status. Fine let's merge. Day 1, you realise you dont have full access. Everything you built is now theirs and restricted to you. Wanna build something, well, hope the new leaders agree or you dont get to. Wanna get into all the bases that are now yours? Nope, not gunna happen. There are secret ones your not allowed into. They get all of your shit, you get what they decide to give you for your shit. Ask for full access, nope, not gunna happen. Who knows why the power trip is there, but it is. Maybe, just maybe they let you be a builder or some other underling "position". Until they decide not to and you log in and are peon #112 with no access. By day 3 you realize your original crew is gone and not likely going to come back. You also dont feel like logging in anymore. Becuase it sucks dick being a peon when you signed up to be a pirate. What's the break point? My guess is about 40-50 people. Goes to hell after that. When you see there are multiple companies that are the same, dont even bother. 3 times I have tried this. Through various ways, and I really didnt want to the last time cuase I knew the outcome. You want pro advice? Live on lawless. Stay solo or in 1 clan with 40 or less people. Build a small base hidden under water to put your important stuff in. Build yourself a castle and call it home. No one destroys more than they need to do the raid and most of all your resources are invested in the structure itself anyways. Worst case, you scuttle your base and take leftover mats to rebuild elsewhere. Build a schooner right before you wanna sail, and scuttle it to get some return on your resources when your done with it or someone else will. Remember, your stash is underwater, so scuttle it right above for efficiency. Raid every unraided base you see, sink every ship you see. Fuck the megas. Fuck the NPCs. Fuck the tames. You only need 1 elephant and 1 giraffe, a bear and/or horse is a luxury. This is how you play a pirate. -CS
