With the 2x taming yesterday I thought it the ideal time to get the large gathering tames, elephant, giraffe and rhino. But came across a problem, I’ve never minded it hard to find the sweet spot, I used to just dodge in and out of that area and the eating animation would delay the animals attack just enough to dodge free. The problem I found is that the eating animation does not happen very often anymore so I’d get hit, that along with heat waves and I was going to get killed long before I’d tamed my quarry. After some thought I put a few points into “first aid” self-healing and speed healing, popped a healing kit on my hot-bar and tried again. That worked a treat. The healing game takes less time than the time between feeding a tame, the time between being able to use the kit again was short enough not to get in the way. I didn’t have to worry about getting hit or heat waves and the kit has more than enough uses to tame many creatures. Just thought I’d share, it helped me a lot. If you are having similar issues give it a try.

To add to the list: 100%, do not use "taming pens", use another tame and do it in the open. Pens add a whole another wall glitch challenge you can just avoid. Can't find the feed spot, or still trying to use a taming pen? Use a shield. You can feed through a shield while the shield is absorbing their attack. Bring a friend if possible, makes it quite a bit easier with being able to split jobs.

It's an unfortunate mechanic that seems like it was meant to force people to travel/explore. If we learned anything from Megatribes and how they operate, most didnt even use legendary/mythical tier ship components unless they could dupe them, because they were a complete waste of time on average for the percentages you got. We still did farm out all the different mats, but they were usually used on rifles and armor and cannons for carts than ships. Most efficient method for farming was simply pulling up a resource map, spawning on a nearby freeport and making a sloop or raft and sailing it to the island(s) in question, dropping beds and naming them for the resources, and then you'd have 5-10 guys farming that location around the clock, and later a weight galley would show up to haul hundreds of thousands of whatever it was back to a centralized location. Ideally you just grinded out Whites, greens and blues that had super high stat rolls, that were also super cheap to make. We had boats floating around with white tier cannons that had upwards of 140% damage before being crafted by our Int chars with our mythical Int crafting sets, they were coming out with 160ish damage, we had greens that could craft out to 170+. THey were far more viable for resource cost and combat, because it was no big loss, everyone farmed Red SoDs to level our ships up, so high quality low tier BPs were coming pretty common. We'd have ships made of whites, greens, blues out there with high rolls on high crafts on them out-damaging legendary/myth tier ships just lining the sea bed with their boats. requiring 5-6 different mats to construct a single component is just silly. Can it be done? Absolutely, will it be done? Absolutely, but most of your hard core efficient players will find a way around this severe inconvenience, so it's largely a moot point for people who knows the ins and outs of the game, and it's just a setback for small groups who think they need these high tier components in order to compete. The system is a hindrance at best, and a psychological crutch for casual players at worst Same with vitamins. Most of us would level up the traits that drastically reduced vitamin consumption, and just killed ourselves to be reset. Respawning time far outweighed the time sink in trying to maintain your vitamins. Out at sea in the middle of a battle? "Guys its cold AF, im low in Vitamins, someone shoot me in the head and take the helm". few seconds later homeboy was back and good to go. All day every day.

Sorry can not help there, "Hold 'Back' " is an XBox control, the wiki doesn't say more than that. It's the same control that shows you the Biome, Time of day & temperature in the top left of the screen, also shows the text on buffs and stats on the icons on the bottom right of the screen.

Breeding, a few guides around about this https://www.atlas.wiki.fextralife.com%2FControls&usg=AOvVaw2pWW8DAmaDWOOLkxTxdhmp "H" is the PC key to view resource, Wiki say "hold 'back'" - same control as "extended HUD info.

This is a good suggestion. I’m not necessarily saying x2 is a bad thing, I was just saying such bonuses every weekend is a bad thing. It should be saved For special occasions. the x2 as a base rate would be good as it would reduce the fear of losing assets, especially in PvP where it can be massively demotivating, but there’s the fine line of people reaching content too quickly killing longevity, but that’s another discussion.

Well maybe not broken but its not the same as the old official server before the wipes. i made 60 ceilings and went up 2.9 pts in xp. this is not right and hand collecting with the bonuses is not giving very many points either. the Giraffe is not collecting like it did before the wipe. I put an entire brig together and only went up 6.7 points. this is unreal. something is wrong. Building used to give points, not so much anymore. the XP must be back to 1 to 1 instead of 1 to 2 as it was on the old official.

No you did no yet reach the limit... You just ran into the bug that the server makes structures disappear that do not have direct support from a foundation (directly below it). For example if you make support with pillars and a ceiling on top it could happen that a ceiling directly connected to the first disappears, even though it should have support. Only solution currently is to make full support on the ground, preferable with floors not pillars... You will have to fill up the holes with more support until it stops doing it... And that boys and girls is how you will hit structure limit with all those actually not needed support structures...

He didn’t say anything about who bought the game when. He called you on using incorrect terminology. Words matter.

No it’s not. This is early access, know the difference.

Yes all the other files are your player data files. The .atlas file is the map itself. I back up the entire Saved folder to be safe.

I found a trick: Try to start the game while not being in a party. If you are in the game, your buddys should join the game, or invite them. They all should not be in a party. If all are in the game, you can create a party and invite them. If the framerate of one player is low, he should restart his box and try again. This trick works fine for me and my buddy.

u might just be retarded. TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PLATFORMS, no. Unreal engine is a click and the same assets to both files. you have no idea what you are talking about. You never made a game before so you have no idea how anything even works.

Very smart move going to pve first off. I love pvp but if I want pvp I’ll go to another game where there is actual PvP. welcome aboard. You seem American by the way I read your post so I would recommend NA pve. Maybe we will meet up at some point. the steam charts fooled me big time. Atlas is actually way better than ark in a lot of ways. Mainly the grinding. The sailing you will find awesome as well(if you liked sea of thieves). Already met a lot of cool people in the servers I have been as well. Even though I haven’t met the dicks yet, I am sure we all know they are present but it just is what it is. We move on from that. as far as early hints go(I am new as well), don’t bother with the brig, after looking at all the stats there is no need for it in my opinion. I need the 59 base occupancy the gally offers. Our schooner is pretty cramped. Take people’s advice on getting the schooner right off the bat though, it will get you places in a decent time. if you are a grinder then go to the galleon quick. If not the schooner will do you right. tigers are easier to tame in my opinion than bears(I am a cat lover). A level 60 tiger(you can only tame 30 or lower), will easily take down the army of the damned when doing maps. Once you have high gather rate from skills you can get plenty of resources no problem. get a cow definitely. I would say a chicken as well but I have been finding plenty of vegetables so it isn’t too necessary. Vitamin D will be the pain of you don’t have a cow but only because you need fish otherwise(a lot of times mantas will be dead on the waters surface because they are stupid, free fish meat). since you actually have played ark you will find the grind is atlas to be very satisfying. If you have played Conan as well you will realize it isn’t as easy as Conan but nowhere as bad as ark lol. long post but oh well have fun man and good luck

Its funny PPL buy a game that's in beta then complain about the game even thou THE DISCLAMER WHEN YOU BUY THE GAME SAYS there will be wipes of the server and content will change as the game gets released "Patience is part of the game of BETA testing"!!!

For now, we're keeping GD the same on here and on the Discord as we want to aim to be as platform-agnostic as possible, if you're not interested in a topic title, don't click it. If you click it and it's not something that you want to contribute to, press the back button. Our players play together, we'd like to faciliate the continuation of that in terms of discussions too! We'll be keeping it like this for now and we'll see how it goes.

Thank you Ent. Been searching the store for Atlas, nothing. Searched for game preview and there it was!

I have come back after the wipe, i and my team members were dismayed to find that we couldn't damage or kill the army of the damned. after some searching we found AoD are now immune to anything except gun (non-puckle), melee damage and tame damage. why do this? this has turned a fun battle where we would scout the terrain, use tactics and alternate weapons/firepower/traps into a simple battle of might. if you dont have an army of bears or super duper gear you are doomed to a cycle of death-reaquip-death. its very nearly a deal breaker for us, it takes fun out of the game puckle guns are pretty much useless now, and the only time we can use the fun stuff is for boss battles? without the means of practice? i can see now why people do naked death runs to the fountain of youth. could someone please tell us the devs reasoning for doing this? if someone in power reads this please consider changing it back for the pve servers

Yep true. The game gives you all available spots and if you want it differently, you can customize it yourself.

I'll start by saying this is not a QQ, myself and my friends are enjoying the game a lot. We were talking last night and the topic came up, have they over complicated something simple ? So what I mean is things like, do they need to have 501 different kinds of Fiber ? Why add more than whats needed, sometimes less is more. Does smelting need to be this intensive ? Some of the items needed really dont even make any sense a all. The Vitamins ... its bad enough how quickly you starve and dehydrate on official, does there really need to be vitamins to micro manage this part of the game as well ? This is one thing my friends and I really dislike. I feel they've made the game more confusing than it needs to be, to be clear, people should be enjoying the game play not micromanaging every aspect of it, the multiple types of metal, fiber, wood, ect ect, again, it seems as though this is just extra fluff for no reason other than to confuse new players. These items would not make the game easier if they were simplified, all it would do is make the game easier on the brain for new and experienced players. It really looks like they let someone with ADHD design these parts of the game and said person went off the deep end. Is there anything I'm missing that seems like it's in the game for no reason when it could be simplified ?

Does anyone else think the base crew size of 16 for a brig is pretty low and doesn't seem to scale correctly compared to the size of the ships? To start the brig is at least 2x the size of a schooner almost 3x but its base crew is only 2 more than a schooner which is at 14!? The Gally's base crew is something 50+ I don't have the number at the top of my head, but that makes sense because the ship is massive. But going from 3, 14, 16 to 50+.....uh what? I haven't seen threads or concerns about the base crew size of the brig, so I just wanted to get the conversation started at least and hope for some quality of life changes to the brig for crew size. I think everyone is going to have different opinions on this matter regarding balance and meta etc..so I am curious to see what the community thinks. My personal suggestion for a base crew increase for a brig would be to 22 or 24, I think 22 would be a good start. But I believe at least 24 would be ideal.
