This is something they need to fix for their stated goal of making this a pirate game. Pirating means melee/ranged attacks on pirates guarding the treasure. Archer attacks on your skeleton archer opponents, followed by the hand to hand battle is very much part of pirate fantasy. If tames are the only way or best way to do something, then this is not a pirate game, this should not be ARK2.0

I have come back after the wipe, i and my team members were dismayed to find that we couldn't damage or kill the army of the damned. after some searching we found AoD are now immune to anything except gun (non-puckle), melee damage and tame damage. why do this? this has turned a fun battle where we would scout the terrain, use tactics and alternate weapons/firepower/traps into a simple battle of might. if you dont have an army of bears or super duper gear you are doomed to a cycle of death-reaquip-death. its very nearly a deal breaker for us, it takes fun out of the game puckle guns are pretty much useless now, and the only time we can use the fun stuff is for boss battles? without the means of practice? i can see now why people do naked death runs to the fountain of youth. could someone please tell us the devs reasoning for doing this? if someone in power reads this please consider changing it back for the pve servers

i really love this game as im sure most do as we keep playing. i was thinking about how this games future could be enhanced to make it better and bring more players cause lets all admit half the fun is the social aspect. So i came up with some ideas that MAY work and may NOT. I'd first start off by combining all realms into 1. PVE and PVP EU and NA. 1 massive MMO. Then id partition the grid into two worlds 12x5/ 12x15. the "west" 12x15 would be a spawn selection for any NA player that chooses to live there or even EU if they choose. and the "east" 12x15 would be the EU spawn port and na should they choose. Each side would be controlled in their perspective regions in real life to reduce lag or however its maintained now. Each grid would also hold 80 percent of all the resources found in the game where the other 20 percent would require you to travel to either Eu or NA sectors to find. Id remove ALL freeport zones and add 1 freeport island that is unbuildable upon and add islands to the rest of the grid to act as PVE zones with some of the old freeports being lawless and others being settler zoned. I would increase the numbers of these grids as well to reflect a better PVE game mode and ensure that a player is able to journey from 1 pve zone to another if not directly then swiftly upon entering a pvp zone if entered a corner. Id then remove all current lawless zones and turn them into PVPVE where the new added AI pirates would reside and sail and live. where both PVP players AND pve players can beat up on the AI ONLY. Lastly id the remove all Current settler lands and switch them to PVP only zones both lawless and settler. Again spacing them out and adding enough that so a person could travel from a pvp zone to another withought having to go into PVE unless by a corner and can swiftly turn to a pvp zone. so now that the zones are defined id work the system as such. Any player can freely roam to any grid he or she chooses and their own discretion. However all PVP actions have cooldown timers connected to both the ships. player and company. meaning if your mainly a pve player but you decide one day to test your hand in pvp and you engage in pvp you would have a cooldown timer before you could re enter any pve zone. weather that be 12 hours. a day. 2 days even 4 days. This would give the opposing side a chance to attack back and keep players from attacking and running back to pve. This timer would effect all players in the realm that engage in PVP. so everyone equally gets this penalty for entering PVE after engaging in PVP battle. the ramining 15 grids unassigned would be powerstone islands and kraken spawn spread out randomly in the realm where all current laws and remain. the kraken however would be in a PVE zoned only since having that in a pvp zone is obvious a major recipe for trolling. this is the base of it id love player feedback feel free tag me up maybe together we can add to it or edit it and grapeshot would listen

Please dont... we are almost at the point were they could just give us the spawn command for ships... making them cheaper still gets them out at sea... still too easy to sink them anchored... hell it is still too easy to sink them with ship cannons, which is not how it worked in RL (hard to sink a ship with cannon balls, but good for disabling the crew). Why should anyone pirate a ship when it is easier to sink and loot it...? Why should anyone risk a ship if sinking a guaranty...? Make them more expensive... make the crew the thing you disable... make pirating ships finally an option...

This never works. In fact they already did this - the 2x is actually 4x. The reason it never works is that all MMOs use the 2x weekends to encourage people to get back into the game and catchup rather than going off to play the shiny new game. It is a promotional activity specifically for player retention and acquisition. So if they make the 2x permanent which is actually 4x, they will shortly thereafter starting doing new 2x weekends, which is actually 8x. And you will be here posting again about just make it permanent again. Then the cycle repeats 16x, 32x, 64x....

I have to tell ya, whether Atlas succeeds or fails, I could give less than a fig about whether Xbox players get the crusts cut off of their sandwiches just the way mommy does for them. If they wanna give me that tired “I deserve the same clean slate you got” argument I will happily throw right back in their faces what a performance nightmare the game was on December 22 2018 and how they only even have the option to play Atlas because of the money and time that me and folks like me put in from then to now that means wipe or no they will have a less of a dumpster fire to deal with when they walk in the door. If the devs wipe they wipe, and having understood what I was getting into with an EA product, if they need a wipe for technical reasons I’m fine with it, but wiping just to placate the entirely self centered desires of prospective players at the expense of current ones, you can count me as being firmly against that notion. I have paid my pound of flesh to get to this point. Let them suck it up do likewise by enduring a slightly already populated game world.

I stopped playing when they crashed single player over the summer to the point it would not load for more than a month. I still kick the ball here because I would really like to play a pirate game someday. But the latest roadmap I predict is 18mo of work - given each megapatch in the past was about 3mo of work and the roadmap does not even start until xbox which for sure is EOY. And that is if they do not decide to yet again pivot from their 'plans' since it now seems the megapatch of the summer for SP, WPE and Blackwood will never get fixes since they focus on MMO XBOX.

In order to make Atlas better, it has to be made faster. Sailing takes too long to get anywhere - double ship speeds. Harvesting without 2x is not done by most players, so just make 2x harvesting permanent. Leveling ships takes too long; learn from Eve-Online, all ship hulls are the same, it's only the modules (cannons/planks/etc.) that should take time to upgrade and accumulate. Not enough ship hulls; there have only been 3 useful ship hulls since launch. Make more ship types. The last Dev stream said they wanted to make the game more action, less monotany, the above way are the major ways to do it. Faster travel, faster resource gathering, spend zero time leveling a ship. Go Go Go!

As a customer I buy something. If the product is broken, I get some guarantee on it. I consider the seller and he has to change or repair the product. You, devs, buyed a map from Iso. The map is not finished and broken. Why didn't you make use of your rights and let him solve the problems on guarantee?

I definitely understand the frustrations of a wipe, loosing everything and having to start over with levels ect. As I mentioned I'm at 3,104 hrs, I've played alot and had to start over alot to. But I never said to my myself "If they wipe and I loose all my stuff, I'm not coming back" because when I first started playing ATLAS I knew it was a Early Access game. And EA games (especially ATLAS with its history) are going to wipe, they are going to crash, you are going to loose everything over some really dumb BS. I'm okay with that because I knew what I was getting into. Again, not saying who's right or wrong, but I just dont understand how or why people get so upset about wipes when you payed to play a EA game, you literally have got to know they would happen. But hey to each their own. I guess it's the way I look at ATLAS during this point in time that alot dont. "Before I spend hundreds of hours building/farming/getting levels/taming would I be cool if it all gets wiped? Especially sense there was already one?"

He says some pretty weird stuff. I just don’t reply when he does that. If he makes sense then I will reply. Yeah that is pretty much all you can do. As far as I have found he doesn’t have a shady past so he deserves the benefit of the doubt

Nobody doubts their ability to cashgrab and scam the sheeple. All it does is put them right back here with an even bigger base of people out in the world bad mouthing their product. If the same BS is tried again that they did with the Steam release, how would the end result be any different. The thing with b2p games is after that initial cash glut from launch, you need community helping promote your game, not actively killing it. That way you get a stready trickle of new players over time. This hasn't happened for them with Steam, and sure as hell won't happen with a probable bigger price point on Xbone. You can hope the staff at least have been networking and will land on their feet with new jobs when the "sorry, we tried, but it just isn't sustainable!" rolls in. Jat showing up for an interview in his pirate cap for another job in the industry is the thing memes are born of.

By this, Percieval means, he asked for a feature request which I responded to him: Possible sure but not certain on whether it's something we'd likely do at this time, but will note it down as a request. Which is par for the course with a lot of the requests we receive? Is said -suggestion- possible? Sure. Is it something we plan to do? We'll have to consider whether it fits into our plans or whether we can justify allocating the resources towards it at the present time. Are there other things we need to work on that take more priority? Most likely. Single Player and the other game modes won't be forgotten, they'll grow as the multiplayer game does, however, our design/balance will be based on the multiplayer version of the game, and we'll be targetting fixes towards that mode (some of which will impact SP, some of which may not because those problems may not exist).

This is where I am at with Atlas. Give the new guy a chance and see what happens.

Don’t worry once the wipe happens and the waves of Xbox players come in to save the day there will be plenty of people on all servers. well on the off chance(won’t happen) that there isn’t a wipe you will see the numbers drop faster than ever and as you said there “will be so little players”. The ball is in their court and every minute they waste with silence just makes it worse

Well it was actually a tongue in cheek reply to the post before it, thought you would notice by the fact I put ho ho ho at the end. Or maybe you thought by mistake that I was accompanied by three ladies of ill repute, and was using street to describe them.
