Is it possible to get another ship type fit between the Brigantine and Galleon, Brigantine have much Lower HP than the Galleon, but it is much more maneuverable than galleon, but only have 2 gun more than a schooner. Galleon have very high fire power, but it is useless in turning, so if you kill SoTD with it, it will take a very long time to turn and get the loot. if there is a ship type that can have more HP, fire power of the Brigantine but just a bit less maneuverable still more maneuverable than a galleon but lest HP and fire power, that will be great there are number of ship type in history can fit for it can look it up

Since last night, I have been unable to log into Atlas. I logged in last night. It was super buggy and wouldn't load everything. I wasn't able to access anything or even open up my own inventory. So I logged and tried again. Now I just get stuck on the load screen every time. I had another player from the company log in to kill me and the same thing happened.

Having to check a baby every 8 hours its unhealthy and unreasonable. Babies die in Stasis AGAIN Animals walk away while mating There's no point in breeding with official settings by yourself... you just can't reasonably and healthfully do it. Nothing in a video game that can be lost in seconds should take DAYS to grow and require more attention than an actual baby animal. NOTHING ABOUT BREEDING ON OFFICIAL SERVERS IS A POSITIVE GAME EXPERIENCE.

The biggest single thing that separates blizzard from grapeshot is that blizzard has a history of always continuously working on their game's balance. They do not always get it right on the 1st attempt with what they're doing, but they keep doing it, and in the long run, imbalances will be dealt with. Moreover, they have a strong knowledge that when you let one group of players fuck over another group, you are probably going to lose both groups in the end. As to my knowledge, the total number of perceivable things grapeshot did in order to remedy the current terrible balance nightmare is: 0 (zero) And they seem to live in constant fear of doing anything that would weaken the mega corps, presumably because they imagine that those are the largest part of their player base and they can't afford to lose that, right? The way i see it, the primary reason they want me to play the game at all is so that i can be farmed by bigger corps. The fun of many is more important than the fun of the few, right. But i'm having none of that any more. Let's hope they continue to find enough of those few who are willing to sacrifice their own fun for the greater cause (read: greater corps).

Yeah they made it too “niche”. Pirate survival with taming is only going to appeal to the 2-3k people that are playing. they need factions and a ton of quests. Just those two would be a huge step. The good thing is with factions they would have to get rid of the crappy claim system which would also be awesome

indeed, most of the core mechanics are just poorly designed, they have put effort in the game content but not brain, a MMO needs to appeal to a great vaiety of people to be successful yet they are focusing in a single type of players and even in that regard they are failing, sadly.

I won’t reply to the OP because what he said is right, just not in the full impact of what it should be. These devs are familiar with “survival” and “taming”. They actually do that really weld and I will give them props on that. i thought it was a very stupid idea, even before atlas was announced mind you that they make an mmo. That really blew my mind. The first thing I thought was you will be back to stupid amateurs. Sure enough, that is what happened. these guys can’t make an mmo. It just isn’t possible. And that is ok by they way. But they can’t. If doesn’t fit into their genre/experience/comfort level. they just can’t do it. It really isn’t possible. go tell capcom to make an mmo, let alone an mmorpg. Smh. they the bed on this one. I think we already knew that. They have no clue on what an mmorpg is. Lol long story short, if they would have sold this idea to square enix then it would have been a great game. they didn’t, so it will never be a great game and I am to the point of feeling bad for anyone that feels differently. i mean really? Look at ark. Total success. Look at atlas total failure. Nothing is going to turn this around except a completely different direction that the game was formed as. btw this is still ark. I said it was months ago and I am still saying it. Argue all you want but just realize that the July mega update still isn’t here yet. That is the best piece of evidence I can give. Not the only but the best. part of me is frowning right now because of hope. The other part is smiling because after all these months, everything I have said is coming true. This is unfortunate because I wanted them to Change but I’m the long run I was right

anyone an idea how to run a blackwood server with this tool?
  17. 1 point
I am not a moderator but you have created a thread in a public forum, you did not file a support ticket. Filing a support ticket is how you communicate directly with the company and it’s staff. Creating a thread allows and invites comment from anyone so inclined. You have offered your views, I have offered my own in contrast. Do not presume to tell me my views do not belong here just because you do not care for them. Do you agree that it is a parent’s job to supervise their children and not the world at large’s job to preemptively conduct themselves at all times as if your child might be present? I agree that many so called adults act like children on gaming forums, 15 years experience has made that abundantly clear. However, my pointing out the game’s adult themes IS relevant because it defines the difference between whether you should reasonably expect adult language to be heavily moderated or not. Racist or sexist language belongs nowhere because it is generally offensive to all, but adults making adult jokes for their own amusement on forums for a game with explicitly adult themes is qualitatively different.

In the opinion of everyone in my company and pretty much everyone on the server I play on, the current environment system is broken. Even with ~30 fortitude, a vitamin buff, cloth armor, two levels of armor temp tolerance, a parrot and with the indoors status, I was taking damage from a heat wave. It's patently absurd that such levels of preparation are needed to be able to survive the night, sleeping in your own bed. Another guy in my company had both hot and cold debuffs at the same time (not the wolf protection buff, we checked that). 1. Extreme weather events should be rare, not once an hour. 2. Too many places have ridiculous temperatures like -120 degrees changing to +45 degrees within 15 mins. 3. Spending 20% of my points in fortitude should mean that I can deal with all non-extreme weather. As it stands, I can't see much reward for having spent my points there. Most players in my company just put their points into carry weight and HP for that reason. 4. The vitamin system remains far too finicky to manage. Most players in my company don't bother anymore. If you're not regularly taking bodily damage, it's almost impossible to maintain the buff. When you do lose it, you lose all of it and need to rebuild it over 30 mins again. As mentioned above, the main reward is pretty much useless with the ridiculous environmental effects of the game. Vitamin surplus and deficiency take months and years to develop IRL, not minutes and hours.

Atlas One server admin’s perspective on how to save Atlas. About me, I run a small hosting server for game servers. I mostly serve a small gaming community and a few streamers. Most of my experience on game server hosting started in 2015. However, I have over 25 years of sysadmin experience. Atlas is an ambitious idea. I say idea because at this point that is all it is. As it stands now the game continues to bleed players. Even with new content players are just not returning to the game. It is my opinion that this is primarily due to the complete lack of support for unofficial servers. One can’t discuss Atlas without mentioning ARK. Just in case you didn’t know, Atlas, Grapeshot, is made up of ARK Developers and Producers. The game itself has a lot of code ported from ARK as well. This should have made several aspects of the game just work. Many of the features of ARK that work very well have been broken in Atlas. Below are the things that I feel are done right and things that need changes. Done right: · Water system and weather. The water mechanics, waves, wind etc, all are wonderful. I can’t say enough good things about this part of the game. I truly enjoy and most players I know enjoy sailing. It is fun and you can really immerse in this part of the game. · Changed stats. The way stats have been changed generally are good. Much of the power creep that has occurred in ARK is negated with several stats not being changeable and others having much smaller changes. This is for both players, animals. · Building system. Hands down the building system is a 500% improvement. Every aspect to how building works in Atlas is by far one of the best of any of these types of games. I especially like the multi-part system where a wall can be many different things just by cycling when u place. Needs Work: · Animals. While some aspects to animals are ok, several other parts are not. Either you have a taming system, or you don’t. At this point you have, in my opinion, a dumb system. Same with breeding either make it work or don’t have it. It was stated that animals were not going to be a focus of this game. If that was the case, then why make all the changes that make it feel stupid. If animals are not the focus, then don’t give them a lot of utility. If they are needed then don’t change what has worked before, ARK, to some stupid system that doesn’t work well. If it isn’t broke don’t fix it. At this point you have gone too far to obviously revert to ARK systems, so you need spend some time and make it work. Major changes Needed: These next parts are more about how the current server systems work. Ini files. · Don’t make us guess what works or doesn’t work here. Have someone spend some time and Actually document the current ini file options for servers. · Fix difficulty scaling, whatever you did to totally bork this, undue it. Add or go back to how ARK difficulty scaling works. Right now, it’s totally borked up and is incredibly frustrating to players and admins. Either have NO difficulty scaling at all or have it work in a nice linear method JUST LIKE ARK. Why does it have to be this bad? o As it stands now, animals don’t gain XP if they are above a certain wild level. Difficulty scaling totally borks Alphas to be unkillable and able to kill everything. Why does having wild 150 animals mean we have level 1160+ Alphas that cannot be killed unless u glitch them or trap them somewhere. o The entire system needs a massive overhaul. In my opinion separate out wild animal levels scaling and alpha scaling. Also break out SOTD and AOTD treasure maps. Some high level AOTD are immune to all damage or only take a single point. o Some survivors from high level SOTD disappear after you “claim them”. Again, difficulty scaling problems. Ship stats · I understand that “official servers” need to maintain a balance. However, you should know by now that this game will be make or break on the unofficial servers. ALL ship stats need to be fully exposed in ini files. Servers need an easy way to adjust these. This is an absolute must; mods will never work well for this and it needs to be a priority change. Many players and servers play a more PVE style and creative style. Without more ability to easily make these changes you lose long term playability. The single biggest complaint I have from players on all the PVE and creative side is this issue. Along with borked animal taming but this one issue is huge. Ships are ATLAS, you have to do better here. o Changes needed, exposed stat settings like that exists for player/animal stats. o Ini control of ship base speeds, including backup speed. o Ini control of each sail type/size. o Ini control of each ship type, number of sail “points” i.e. how many points each ship has for sails, larger sails costing more points etc. o Ini control for expanding builds outside boundaries or expanding the boundary by X factor. This obviously can’t work in all servers but if I want to have a server where I can build crazy ships then, if this is a sandbox game there should be a setting too allow that. Server map systems This is a big topic and I don’t have enough coding experience to know exactly what changes are needed but this is probably the single biggest issue facing Atlas. As it stands right now you can now play single player or non-dedicated with the full official map. Or try the actual official servers. However, unofficial servers are basically non-existent for truly large maps. The game is designed for a large map. The official 15x15 is 225 shards/servers. As it stands now it costs thousands of dollars to have the hardware capable of running a full 15x15 server. So, we have these smaller ones. The problem is that they don’t deliver the full experience because the game isn’t designed for “small” maps. Blackwood attempts to provide this by having a fully custom experience, but that isn’t much better than non-dedicated because it is too small, resources, quests, etc. I have tried to come up with ways to make this work. I’ve had a 5x5 custom map designed which I can run on a single “server” albeit one with Dual 8core/16t processors and 192gb of ram. That is an extreme example. It highlights the big issue. Another workaround that I have been talking with the developer of one of the Atlas Server Utilities about is a hybrid solution. Have a Set number of shards say a 3x3 as a “permanent” online server. This server is running the 15x15 map. Using a discord integration, a player can send a command to a bot to boot up shards F3, F4, F5, etc. This in turn would have those shards boot up for X amount of time and shutdown XX minutes after no players are detected. Something that could be configured for each server integration. Some hurdles are when a player logs off on a temporary shard and that shard shuts down if the player forgets what shard they are in, there needs to be a way to see last known location. This is complicated by a bug with Atlas that player locations are buggy. Often players will be shown online in several shards at once when they are not there. This is likely due to some issue with Redis not sending back data to the shards when a player moves to a new shard. Often this is seen when a “sleeping” logged off player is moved to a new shard on a moving ship. Although it occurs without that happening as well. Another option is for Grapeshot too develop a better server system that integrates some of the features of the single player/non-dedicated experience. Custom maps and the quests. This is got to be the messiest part of having custom maps, trying to integrate the quests and locations correctly. It can be done but it is so damn messy and when new content gets added it frequently must be done again. This needs to be fixed. A re-write of how quests are tracked internally in the game needs to happen. When a server admin must spend more time on upkeep than playing the game or simply cannot because of IRL things like a JOB, and Family, then the game just gets dropped. In closing, I want to stress that this post is just my opinion, though many parts are shared by the players who have player on my servers. Along with other server admins I have spoken too on the various discord servers. Generally, the conscious is that Atlas has great potential but as it stands now it just isn’t worth the time, money, and aggravation. Any constructive opinions are welcome.

Dont bother, because the information isnt true. Another boat of mine went "poof" Sub attached. I moved it, i raised the anchor, i lowered the anchor, i released the sub, re-attached the sub. This was Thursday night before going to bed. Last night after work, after reading Jat's reply in my thread. I log in to find another member of my fleet gone. Sadly, I'm moving on from Atlas, now.

You mean that game where we can build mega cities, docks and animalpens? Where picking up a wall looks like... erm, well a picked up wall instead of 160 walls gone bye bye? With all these awesome shipbuilds other then those wich are still here since the beginning? And how about that awesome skin for our "Dedicated hard work, feedback and bugreports" ? Where treasuremaps don't keep bugging out? HO, STOP. WE WANT CATS!?!11 Nvm the above. WE WANT CATS!!1!

Ahoy Pathfinders! A new ATLAS Devkit update is available! This latest update includes the Blackwood map as an example of how to create standalone maps, as well as all the latest content and additions to the game. The new map serves as an example for mod developers as a way to create their own unique ATLAS experience intended to be hosted on a single server. Take a look at the source files to see how we've created Blackwood and how it works. We've also uploaded an example of Blackwood to the Steam Workshop. It's the exact same as the DLC, so there isn't a need to download or subscribe to it, but for those of you who were curious, we set it up to show you it does work. You can check out Blackwood map as a mod here. The latest download of the Devkit can be found here: http://atlasdedicated.com/ATLAS_DevKit_v218.zip ( torrent ) ( MD5: 417f792608439e809d732e49af72ab3e ) Additionally: The optional Ocean map sublevels can be downloaded from here: http://atlasdedicated.com/ATLASDevKit_OceanSublevels_v218.zip ( torrent ) ( MD5: ff927974975e3f9c20b395c330e441e8 ) Please note that this is a full devkit download, so it is recommended that you back up your mod content before migration -- a general rule of thumb, make sure you back up your files regularly! One of the primary differences in making an ATLAS map would be the ocean and our dynamic waves. You'll want to read through our documentation to make sure you've brushed up on the new systems, and in particular, make sure to read up on how to setup ATLAS shoreline data is setup. This is so that water and waves work properly with your maps and that you don't end up with high waves very close to shore: https://devkit.playatlas.com/en/latest/Guides/Shorelines.html We've also added some more pages to the documentation site, so make sure to check those out: https://devkit.playatlas.com/en/latest/Guides/WorldBuilding.html Haven’t yet ventured onto the high seas? ATLAS is currently on sale for 67% off on Steam July 26 - August 2!
