We've ramped up our spam protection a lot over the past few hours, so let's see if this holds. Sorry that keeps coming up, I know it's a pain we'll have it sorted out soon.

Extremely happy to see the removal of overweight and overcrew damage when ships are anchored. As someone who lost a Galleon before the wipe, it really means a lot that the griefing exploit was finally dealt with.

I know your team size is limited and you don't always have the chance to communicate with us as much as you'd like, but it's heartening to see you try to address as much as you can when you're able to. Especially here on the forums, which seems to get less love than, say, Discord. Keep it up, it's great to see.

Replace those (let's be honnest) ugly fantasy ships with real pirate ships. Just some ships pre disigned by your artist modellors. Look at the pre disigned structures and stuff. They are al so stunningly beatifull, I bet they could create some unimagible nice ships. You could use historicly known pirates, ships and flags. Just imagine comming across the Queen Anne's Revenge + acurate flag. Same thing for those famous chinese ships and their pirates.

*nods knowingly* Yes of course. It's always better when you can tweak server replication values and open the door to proxy values matching gains in reduced boat gliding. I'm glad you guys are putting time and attention into taxing client performance. I know many words but not what it means when you put them together in that order. *head asplodes* Kidding aside I assume for the laymen this means performance improvements, which is, at the end of the day, about how far you have to dumb it down so I can understand it. I gather the main thing is that going forward performance will be better when I'm on a boat.

BUGSING TRIBE SINKS ANCHORED SHIPS WHILE PEACE TIMER IS ACTIVE! These people sunk 7 of our ships while we were in peace timer. same thing happen to us. people came by during peace phase and overloaded our ships. they overloaded the ones that had the most stuff on it. this needs to be fixed. should NOT be allowed to sink/overload ships during peace phase.

i posted this to there discord as well, we had 5 ships sunk to the same issue today. if you can go like it so they see it faster maybe. its in their official discord in bug reports. Search for my name "Kilon" in their discord and you'll find it. Only post I've made there so far

This change reduces the distance at which player characters are replicated on boats. We brought the number down so it matches the values on land, out in the sea, and in the air (gliding). It will by proxy improve server and client performance, as it's quite a taxing thing. It also allowed us to tweak up NPC replication values, which again should result in both client and server performance gains, and it's opened the door for some other things that we're looking into.. which will also result in a gain if things work out Server and client performance will always continue to be something we put some time and attention into.

And passangers shouldnt matter either while anchored

they should just make it so weight doesn't matter when anchored

Hello, So I planned the kraken for yesterday and today. Doing 1.0 on Friday and 2.0 on Saturday. The problem with the kraken is that you now have 2 sets of stones so summoning the 1.0 is not possible for the group if everybody has the second set of stones. This made it so we accidentally summoned 2.0 on Friday and were able to work out a system that we hoped would summon 1.0 on Saturday which we did but it was still quite a headache. Word that we were going to do Kraken also spread like wildfire and so a lot of people showed up on Friday with a griefer of some kind that kept summoning the kraken early so we could not get everybody in at once and it really screwed things up. I have a few suggestions that would help clear this up. First suggestion is that a cooldown be placed on summoning 1.0 and 2.0 per company of around 12 hours. This would make it so a guy in a sloop can not just sit in the middle of the kraken and grief 100 players (Which is what happened). Also make it say who summoned the kraken. Second suggestion would be that in order to summon the Kraken you should have to open your map with M then hold right click to hold up your compass channel for a few seconds which would lead to the Kraken coming out. This would prevent accidental summons. Third suggestion would be that you can highlight the quest either voyage of power (1.0) or Journey of the Gods (2.0) to summon the different difficulties. The final thing I would recommend is that you put some kind of warning like 30 second until the kraken spawns. ~Lotus

Would you, please, fix handling and weight sails angles? They are totally wrong and very confusing, making gameplay non natural, false. There are many pictures ans articles explaining how it works and how it should be placed, this is just one of them: http://www.schoolofsailing.net/points-of-sail.html

Guys i really enjoy my pirate life inside your persistant Atlas world. I just dont like how you absolutely focus on mega patches only for mega tribes. I am quite sure that the majority of your players are solos/small tribes/casuals. Why lock them out from fun stuff like subs and torpedoes ? One of the big advantages in Conan Exiles is the ability for everybody to gain anything solo. Not easily, but with the correct preparation and planning. Please consider a similar strategy and i am quite sure that the 50.000 players from game launch in december will be back here soon. Dont let the Atlas galleon crush into the next iceberg.

Checking back in on the game, after multiple warnings about how they shouldn't add torpedoes in the first place, because they would be extremely overpowered in a game that relies on sail power, they have been nerfed multiple times by huge amounts and will continue to be nerfed over and over again. Why are torpedoes and sail power bad? Because torpedoes are supposed to be high damage weapons and the counter to them is to dodge them so that the enemy wastes their shots. However, under sail power, if you turn into the wind because that is your only option to get out of the way, you basically come to a full stop when your sails go red. The enemy just has to get you to turn then they can dump torpedoes into you and you get destroyed. Now the devs will have to nerf them into the ground because of that and make them more on par with large cannons just to prevent this from happening. Anyone that has ever played World of Warships can tell you how bad of an idea it is to add torpedoes to the game where ships cannot turn to avoid the torpedoes.

People seem to want more to do while sailing, but don't want to slow down / stop to collect flotsam, at least not for low level stuff. A ship attatchment with a net to catch flotsam on a boom arm 1-1/2 tiles long would be nice. You could even slow the boat for each piece caught, so you'll need to empty them every now and again. People could then sail along jigging side to side collecting flotsam, even the low level stuff will get picked up. And as a bunus more music sheets will get into the game, promoting that skill tree. (Image - not quite the intention, but looks and size are about right)

Sailing is just fine aside from the current issue of the blueprinted sails not working properly. My suggestion is to add card games. Blackjack, poker, some sort of pirate card game even, dice, something along these lines so its an actual mini game and not a skill check. This would give player something to do on the high sea and also give the ability to gamble some of that hard earned gold away. As it stands now, gold is just another resource we have to farm for taxes and npcs. Currently with the shops there is potential for more but the only time you ever see them is at a freeport and are a little lackluster imo. Adding cardgames, dice, darts, or any minigame would help fill the gap on the sea and may bring more players together on land to conduct business while enjoying some leisure time rather than just running a map or conducting combat. Please for the love of god do not add teleporting ships though. Its a sailing game. Any large mmo has its moments of long travels (ie: EVE online). The sails are bugged atm (far as I know) to where blueprinted sails granting a velocity bonus do not actually give that bonus atm. They may say 105% velocity but actually only give 100%

One idea, that I can't take credit for, that a member in my company came up with was NPC Lumber yards, mines, and what not that would help companies get out of farming and more on the seas. I really like that idea. I believe that if you made it so they didn't farm like a lot, but say 10,000 a day and then people could farm more if they wanted. That would help people enjoy the game. You could make it cost a bit in gold and a number of NPCs that would give you the max number of resources. A lot of what burns people out is the farming because you gotta do so much of it. Just an idea that could really help people enjoy the seas, which is my favorite part of the game, and less the farming aspect. Thank you for listening

You just have to be difficult don't you? Btw, I thought you would appreciate that we setup a cock fighting ring on one of our islands. Our alliance is currently breeding chickens to fight to the death. Betting on these fights will be mandatory for all participants. Bets at a minimum will include gold, but people can be as creative as they want for these bets. We have a cage and guillotine next to the mini-coliseum for those that do not pay up.

You guys are doing really well with using real item names like thyme, parsley, basil, acai, etc. Thought you might like to know that acerolla is incorrect spelling. For the sake of internal consistency, it would be nice to see 'acerolla' changed to its correct name: acerola. Minor correction, easily accomplished and proliferated. By the way, have you guys ever read The Checklist Manifesto by Atul Gawande MD, a Harvard professor? It's a magnificent book on a protocol used by aviation designers and testers, corporations of all kinds, surgical units across the globe and more for dramatically enhancing performance and outcomes in nearly any field. Book is well written, interesting, and applicable to game development and testing as well. Just thought I'd mention it.

Refinement of the idea from conversation tonight: Create a number of Jobs that shore-based hirelings can perform. A hireling's current job would be selected from the radial menu. Assign Role / <list of roles>. As gunners and sailors have different costs per hour, I'd also have different costs for the different shoreman roles. Farm hand - Collects poop from animals and stores it in a poop chest. Farmer - Takes poop from poop chest and puts it in crop plots. Harvests crops and puts them in nearby larders. Nanny - Feeds babies (but doesn't imprint) Watchman - Refills lanterns and repairs torches, can be set to automatically turn lights on and off at dusk and dawn. Handyman - Repairs all structures given materials Stable hand - Refills and balances feeding troughs, taking from preserving bags / larders.

Network: NA PVP Colonies Grid: B9 Description of issue: I claimed an island and found some underwater pillars preventing me from building in a crucial location. They are completely invisible in first person view and untargetable (can't look at them to demolish). Throwing grenades at them does nothing as the grenades disappear without doing damage. I require someone to remove them for me. Thanks in advance. Any screenshots or video demonstrating the bug: Repro steps if available/applicable: not applicable CCC : cheat TP B9 232075 415361 -58

We've done it before. Here are some tips: -Respec in HP and fortitude. -Use HQ carbines and headshot the yeti minions. -Use Grenades they're very effective. -Oil jars are also good but burning yetis will set player on fire on contact. -Don't wipe out your own teammates with grenades.(Really important) - 2 people will kite the snowman near a pillar and others will kill minions. Its easy but 10+ people recommended. GL HF.
  36. 1 point
Yeah you'll just have to wait 3 weeks for them to disappear. Depending on how long ago the owners abandoned it you probably don't have to wait 3 more weeks, but that would be max. They'll go soon enough as long as they don't board them as Kidori stated.

It's something we'll always be working to improve, and there will be a steady drop of changes coming throughout the Early Access period as you can never say 'enough' when it comes to both client and server performance. We made some networking changes last night, which were more tweaks to replication values that should result in increased server performance, especially in cases of large ship battles. It'll also open more ways in which we can save perf -- which is currently being investigated -- so hopefully, we can take it further in the coming weeks. As for switching engine, there aren't any plans to do anything like that

Server/client performance is a HUGE knock on this game at the moment. I am more forgiving having been around IT professionally for 20+ years and a gamer for even longer having tested games as far back as the late 1990's. I also realize that many people are not like me and less forgiving of these issues. I know enterprise class servers and networking fairly well having worked for a couple of the largest hosting companies in the world and it makes me wonder what they run hardware wise and how its configured. Why do these servers seem so starved for CPU horsepower, IO and network bandwidth? Is the software that poorly optimized? Is the hardware ancient by modern IT standards? Is the topology poorly implemented thus creating latency where little should exist? Lot of questions and unfortunately we are presented with no answers in this regard.

Dear Jat/Dollie/other Grapeshot staff, The Ice Cave is brilliant, well done. Cargo racks, the harpoon and new weapons as well. I’m not into tames, but the new ones are cute enough. But let’s address the torpedo in the room. We’re all having a wonderful time loading up common schooners with one-sided 5 torpedo launcher builds and griefing legendary ships (video coming soon). But even a cursory glance at concurrent players proves this update, combined with your completely arbitrary and now-reverted bans, has mortally wounded your game. As an eternal optimist, I think you can recover if you remove torpedos and take a moment to balance them, much like you did with explosive barrels. In my estimation, this needs to happen this weekend or you’ll face a dramatic loss in game testers. You may or may not care about this, but if you do, please continue reading. The primary mode of PvP in your game is ship combat. Without it, you don’t have a game. Land combat is buggy, laggy, and generally unenjoyable for most people. If more than 30 people are in the grid, it’s virtually unplayable. The end-game objective, as far as I can tell, consists of farming rare resources, finding powerful blueprints, building a strong ship, and fighting your enemies with it. That has kept a lot of us around through the six months of testing so far. Common torpedos on a common schooner are doing 9-11.5k damage to ships. That typically means taking 1-3 planks off a ship with anything less than 180% durability mythical/legendary defenses. If more than one torpedo lands, goodbye to half your ship, regardless of quality. The resulting meta is common schooners with 3-5 torpedo launchers running at 15-20 percent weight. Most major companies aren’t letting their blueprinted ships leave the harbor because of this, as I’m sure you’ve heard on your Discord. Yes, the cost of torpedos is punishing, but quite easy for advanced companies to manage. I feel the most regret for smaller groups who can’t farm those resources and thereby stand no chance. Torpedos are an interesting, visually appealing addition to the game. With some tweaking, I think they would be fantastic. But as it stands, they’ve removed all impetus to pursue your intended ship combat advancement hierarchy. For now, we’ll take advantage of this obviously unintended and broken meta. I do hope you’ll keep your word, listen to your player base, and make the necessary changes. If not, you may as well continue investing development time into tames and PvE mechanics, as people clearly aren’t sticking around to sail the 2-4 hours necessary to find another populated grid worth engaging. Thank you, and have a great weekend.

No!! No fast travel for ships, period. Atlas is supposed to be a huge world. No one has to sail the whole map. The resources are placed where really, one only has to sail a quarter of the world. Maps? Stick to the ones close to home. Sail a few sectors away to find higher level maps in or next to your sector, if ya want. Discoveries, yes. But why the rush to get 2500 discoveries? This is not an instant gratification game. I don't think survival/sandbox games should be. Take the time to smell the roses on what should be a long journey. We rush around so much in real life, try the opposite and you may just enjoy something you would have missed. Adding ships, activities when sailing, etc. Fine. But no warp speed sailing ships, tyvm.

Damn do I hate to defend @Talono! Most of you are misrepresenting his post and complaint. As far as I can tell, he is not asking for the game to be catered to solo people. Sure he feels that it is too hard to be a solo currently, but that was not his main point. His main point was that it shouldn't be always for the mega's every step of the way. That's what it has been. The colonies server was for smaller companies, until the empires server was yanked, and then we raised the company cap to 75. THAT WAS THE ONLY THING EVER DONE FOR SMALLER COMPANIES! They took it back just like that. Allies up to 10, A.K.A. up to 750 people in 1 alliance. Absurd. The worst part, oh its gross, is they complain that the alliance cap is 10! I hear it daily. I am in a small company, we allied into an alliance because obviously we had too. Or else you log in to see you've lost every ship, every week, to bigger companies just because the devs ONLY want mega play style catered too. The alliance, its always full (10 members), they always complain about the cap. OH and I am not supposed to attack some people..... ...HALF THE MAP....... HALF THE MAP! Does anyone else see the problem with this? I have had to cut out most of the PvP, in a PvP game, to live on someone else's island, at their discretion, just to have a chance to keep a ship around for a few days. All because we preferred to not be in a mega. Now look at us......the irony? Nay, the oppression, imposed by the devs choices. Does no one else get bothered when they see a mega company's tag over 25-40 islands? Yeah ofc smaller companies are going to complain, and they should! Why in the FUCK is it even possible to own that many islands on a colony server? Its a 100% exploit on the scaling that is supposed to occur when you own more islands, 100% the dev's fault for not making this impossible. Then you have @Sheepshooter with the balls to say we should get rid of lawless grids!? The ONLY choice left to players who don't want to be subject to a mega's capriciousness. 1. Why CAN'T ships be safe when anchored? 2. Why CAN'T companies be capped back to 50? 3. Why CAN'T alliances be capped at 5? (still up to 250 people!) 4. Why CAN'T island ownership be capped at 1 or 2? Making more available to smaller companies. 5. Why CAN't island upkeep be scaled off of company size? (again, incentive to be smaller, always incentive @Jatheish) I hope you can all understand his criticism a little better. Its not about making the game a solo game at all. Its just curbing the insanity we have now and limiting some of the mega advantages. Don't cater the game to small companies, but don't make it an unfair disadvantage either. -CS

For animals, it's not enough to just be in render range. You actually have to interact with it. I just hop in the saddle and it resets the timer. If you don't ever pet your puppy, do you think it will want to stick around? Poor little guys need some love and attention dontcha know.

Hello fellow pathfinders enjoying the PvE side of this game. I noticed a lot of people complaining about not being able to get the sub, content locked behind Kraken, Powerstones are too hard...Well some of us are able to do these things, and have created a discord to schedule events for end game content. Powerstones, Kraken battles, general chat if you need help with things. We have a Kraken fight scheduled for this Saturday, May 18th, and all information is available within the discord. Many fellow pirates have already joined, and more showing up every day. This isn't a Company invite, Solo players are more than welcome to jump in and find help in what interests them. If you are interested in joining, just click this link: https://discord.gg/FFtTvy6 We hope to see you there. The more people we have, the more we can accomplish together.

As it stands now the dingy is all but useless. It is by FAR faster to just jump in and swim to shore... i don't mean a little faster, i mean like 3 times faster if not more. It's kinda slow but that's not really the issue. It's problems come from the handling. It has the turning radius of a football field and you can barely get anywhere without running out of stamina. It took us longer to position the damn thing next to our boat so we could raise it then it would have to swim to shore and back. My suggestion would be to greatly reduce the turning radius and the stamina drain. It should be a viable alternative to move around the shore of an island if you anchored a little farther away from the treasure then you intended, or as opposed to running across the interior of a predator filled island. But as it stands now, it's not even an alternative to getting to the shore in a short, straight line. It's just wasted weight on a ship, we don't even install them anymore.
