It is time to start testing the game. I am tired of people saying “if you don’t like ea games then leave” the sad part is the remaining 4K players are the ones that need to leave(almost all, not being biased or generalizing) all the people that said the players/testers left because the wipe was happening and that we would have a big influx of people returning were simply wrong. there were 2700 people that came back after the wipe. Now there was another mega update that happened that was supposed to increase as well. It did not. Now we have only 1900 of the 2700 that returned still playing. I have come to the realization that it might not actually be the devs(even though they have been making mistakes) that are the problem but the “players” which should be testers. You guys are useless as far as the development process goes. You ridicule anyone that has any problem or issue with the game. You guys are the reason we will soon be at pre wipe numbers and that is very soon. Sure they screwed the pooch, but you did way worse things to that poor dog. Your only job is to make the game better for console players. You might not like that but guess what? You are testers and this is an ea game so it’s time to deal with it. You have been failing right now. at it’s peak everyday, numbers still drop by about 5-10. At its low point of the day numbers tend to drop by 50 or so. That part is your fault not the devs. you claim to want community or government but you are too busy playing the game and trying to wipe people that they just say oh well and leave. you also claim certain things are fantasy, even though they are clearly sci-fi lol. The genre bending that has been going on is borderline pathetic. They really need to drop the whole lore of atlas because that was a very stupid idea in the first place(don’t really care if you disagree). they should have kept it simple and they would have been fine. They didn’t and now this is what they are left with. It doesn’t help when you people are not co tribute game whatsoever(not the people that give feedback, the people that complain about the feedback givers). good luck guys, you have been co planning about me for a long time now and I can’t wait to see the glorious comebacks once I have actually played the game. It will be glorious indeed.

Let me stop you there, No, i'm not a tester, we are not testers, we are customers, who decided to purchase the game in an early state and as with many early access games, we know, that the game is in an unfinished state. But, NO; we are not testers, we are customers. We lost the right to vote with our wallet since we already purchased the game, but we still have an impact on the reviews, the perception of the game, the publicit it receives, etc. Broken systems are not the fault of the customer, but they are the fault of the company behind the product or service. If a customer buys a product and doesn't return to get more of that product, is not because the customer is not doing his "job", it's because the product is flawed and needs to be improved.

First off I am sorry if I hurt your feelings. I do regret that. This post wasn’t meant to melt snowflakes. second, yeah it is your job. Everyone knows that pc players/testers are the lab rats for future ports( at least that is the excuse most of them give on forums when the co sole people complain). third, console sales on ark were a lot higher than pc sales which made it possible for atlas to even be born. Fourth, pve servers? Did you really have to insult pve players in this? Yeah you are the problem man. You people always need to have a problem with the pve guys. They are just like us playing a game. I am pvp through and through but I have never once said a bad thing about anyone that plays pve. You should be ashamed. Let me guess, you are that tough guy that got a good k/d spread and thinks that single player gamers are losers right? I feel sorry for you man.

Because this game and your participation in it are all about ME. I haven't paid for the game or played it yet, but my glorious authority on the game stands without question. I am glorious. I will continue to seek out new products that I cannot use and go around speaking as an authority on them, and telling everyone who uses them to just shut up, and anyone who doesn't like it is a snowflake. I used the Google nonsense translator so you all didn't have to. You're welcome.

Sure, when you buy a product you expect it to work. But if the company selling the product warns you up front that the product is not yet fully functional, then you bought it with that understanding. Either way if you buy it you are still a customer and not an employee. At no point whether the product works or it doesn't, does Maytag have the right to expect me to help fix the refrigerator. If they sell me the refrigerator with a clear warning that the ice maker doesn't work yet and online feedback and input from me may help it to work better in the future, then I have the option as a customer to participate by offering said feedback or not, but under no circumstance am I ever under any obligation to do so. I agree that the EA concept is flawed and a problem in the industry right now. I think studios are being greedy and shortsighted by seeing that they can flip what used to be a cost center in testing to a profit center in EA without stopping to consider the negative ramifications to a game's reputation in the market place when they do so with a far from finished EA game. I think at the moment Atlas is most definately a poster child for this sort of thing. I think by contrast Satisfactory released to EA in March with a game that was out of the gate far closer to a finished product and felt far more like I was getting my money's worth than Atlas did. Contrasting the two reveals one of the problems with EA: it is too all encompassing of a label. The consumer does not know whether he is getting a really enjoyable very playable game at a discount with a few bugs and some content not yet added, or a dumpster fire 2 years away from completion like Atlas. Some clearer standards of disclosure at a minimum are in both the consumer's and ultimately the industry's best long term interests. So I agree that the mixed bag nature is very much a problem. Because of the short term upside to studios, it's unlikely EA will ever just go away, so I think focusing on reform is the way to go. Going back to the refrigerator analogy, I think if Maytag wants to sell you a fridge that is not yet fully functional, there should be requirements that they disclose more clearly and specifically what works out of the box and what doesn't. I also don't think that hurling invective at those that decline to participate in the "job" of making the game better is a very useful or fair approach. This comes across as particularly selfish when you are exhorting others to make the game you are not yet playing better before you buy it. At a minimum you should refrain from it until you have actual skin in the game, and even then I'd consider it poor form. Either way I categorically reject the notion that anything I pay for as a leisure pursuit is a job for me. On this subject I refer you to Mr. Mark Twain: "Work is composed of that which a body is obliged to do. Play is composed of all else."

Did you ever think why is it dominated by English? playing Atlas from the first day i understood how many players (on eu server) do not speak English at all. They even have to use google translator to communicate IN THE GAME. Will they write here? Will they spare their time trying to read here? In the internet most common languages are English, Russian, and German. Why am i to appologise for it? And you can read it by using that exact google as non english speakers do. This forum is full of invitations for English speaking parties and this one was fot those who completely absolutely do not. Your reply was rude and even racist in some way.

And because of bad balancing and bugs they lost 55K players in the first few months, not because of lack of content. You can’t build a game on a broken foundation, that won’t end well.

Here is the problem with the premise of your post Realist. It is an underlying issue with EA games. It goes like this: Since the game is advertised as under development and not finished, complaints of an unfinished game, bugs etc are not legitimate and should be ignored in favor of more constructive feedback and input, but there is a flip side to this coin. Once players have paid for the game, EA or not, they are customers, not employees, so while it would be and is nice when they behave as traditional beta testers, they are under no obligation to do so. They can play the game all they want and not report a thing nor offer any feedback. Will doing so improve the final product? Most likely, and that is their incentive to contribute, but there is a difference between an incentive and an obligation. Your post speaks in a tone that implies Atlas players have an obligation. Heck, forget that, you flat out say it is our job. It is no such thing. We are customers, not employees.

....do I even need to point out the extreme irony and hypocrisy of your post? Also, no, its not our job to make a game beter for consoles. We play on PC, becuase we are adults. Grow up and let the hedgehog go. Not only do we not give 2 shits about your kiddie console, the devs also dont give 2 shits about you kiddie console. Notice how you still dont have the ability to play on them? The conversion to console will be more of an afterthought than PvE servers.

This! You don't wait until you are painting the house, and doing the landscaping, to fix issues with the foundation. I agree that there are many polish type bugs that you can let go, until near the end, but core game engine issues should be fixed right away...or sooner rather than later. Part of the PR problem is that many of these issues have been with ARK since the beginning. What gamers begin to understand is that some companies just never get around to fixing the bugs. They push out game content, and never fix the bugs. Gamers are learning that the only way to send a message, is to not buy, until the bugs are fixed. With many of these issues, they cannot wait until right before the game goes live, to finally address them. They need to fix them now, because people do come to the game between now and then, and so those bugs drive away more people who go on to tell people that the game still isn't fixed. I think there needs to be an epiphany, that EA games cannot be developed the same exact way that you would develop a non-EA game. We are talking 2 years, minimum, where people will be playing this game, before it actually goes live. A game that is basically fully developed before it goes live, can let bugs go until the end, because nobody is playing it. Think of it like this. Two restaurants are being built. One restaurant is not going to take it's first customer, until it is completely built. As it is being built, it is learned the electrical junction box for the kitchen, is the wrong one. It won't support the number of breakers that are needed, and the ones installed are too small. Additionally, the refrigerators are discovered to have a problem and don't quite get cold enough. OK, that doesn't have to be fixed right away, because no food is being stored, or prepared. However, another restaurant, with the same issues, has opened the drive thru, while the restaurant is still being worked on. They do not have the luxury of putting off those repairs until the restaurant is about to open, because they are already servicing customers.

To begin with, I am William and currently playing on NA PVE E11. And my company name is CCTV. I want to share the experience of hatch a tort egg. Firstly, the whole hatching process will cost 3 and a half hours in real-world time(you will spend more). Meanwhile, we know that Alta's breeding relies on temperature. I did some tests about how many fire camps that you would have to use during the process. here is my test result. 10 fire camps---- 16 degree, 17 degree 9 fire camps----18 degree ,19 degree 8 fire camps ---20 degeree to 23 degree 7 fire camps ----24 degree to 27 6 fire camps ----28 degree to 33 5 fire camps--- 34 degree to 36 4 fire camps---37 degree to 40 3 fire camps ---41 to 44 2 fires camps ---45 I suggest you pick up your egg when more than 45 degree and don't hatch it during the heat wave, because the health bar of the egg will reduce 0.3% per second!!! which mean that you should not leave your egg alone.(put your egg inside the Corrosion protection bag with salt will increase the storage time ) I tested this egg on B9 and welcome to share your experience!!! BTW if you need any creatures welcome to message me, we also doing tames trade such as crabs, bears, etc..... best wishes!!!!! William form CCTV

All other factors being equal, given that range is primarily a function of the force applied to the projectile, and given that recoil force then becomes a consideration, a fixed gun emplacement can always do more to compensate for recoil than a towed gun, so the answer has always been never. All other factors being equal.

If you are getting the 'connection timedout/lost' message and its looping (continually trying to connect over and over) try the following. Close out Atlas; In your file manager, navigate to X:\Steam\steamapps\common\ATLAS\ShooterGame\Saved (X being the drive your Steam/steamapps directory is located); Rename the file "ClientGrid" to "ClientGrid.old; Restart Atlas, and choose Rejoin Server. If this does not work, or caused further problems, simply rename "ClientGrid.old" to "ClientGrid" Should not be an issue as a new (updated) version is generated when it missing. Worked for me. Good Luck!

Hmm. I wonder if it’s an issue with all bears with cart saddles equipped. I have noticed that occasionally, while travelling with a bear with cart saddle onboard, that I’ll hear a sound and then about half a second later all of the bears will shift towards the rear of the boat, or even floating in the air behind the boat. Thinking about it more, it does seem to occur more frequently when I have several bears onboard. I’ll try and record what is happening and how many bears are on board when it happens. Hopefully that will shed some light on what causes the issue. I used to furl the sails and whistle them on follow if they’re floating off the boat, or mount them and reposition them if they’re still on the boat. I’ve since found it much more reliable to just sail to a nearby island and drop anchor. After a second they’ll reset to their original positions.

There's 2 ways to do the Hydra, You can either bring it to a cliff and shoot down or grenade it using the terrain to line of sight the attacks. Or you can kite it to the water and use cannons or swivels with cannister shot to kill it in the water it moves at roughly 35% in the water. When running the keys we have 1 guy run ahead and make sure the path to the cave is clear then have a few others run to the cave with 1 guy holding all keystones. The others run and die to protect the key holder. Once in the cave we set it up in groups of 2, 1 runs ahead and dies to get stuff off the bridge while the other gets their key. Rotate until everybody has it. ~Lotus

Bring a schooner with 3 ballistas or even better swivel guns with canister ammo mounted to the rear. Find a suitable hydra island that is not bugged or totally braindead in regards of hydra position. Personally, i highly recommend starting in D12, but there might be another. You can easily do C6 and H6 from there. One (and only one) person go searching the hydra (and only hydra) on the island and kite her to your ship. You can and you should do naked runs for this, you only need to stay in her aggro range. If you see her glitching behind some trees or rocks, apply a zig zag kiting pattern to get her to go around (hence only one person kiting). Kite her with the schooner and kill with ballistas or swivels. Get the artifact key and sail to the nearest surrounding golden age ruins to turn it in for the powerstone. Pro tip: Give up all hopes of those "devs" ever fixing this retarded bullshit. Ever. Do it now!

Not true at all. It is never too early for fixing all the bugs. The main reason for that is because this company has a reputation for not fixing them even after release. so yes, the bug fixes need to happen right now. I am not talking about soon but today. The one thing they have improved on is communication. Other than that they are still repeating a lot of the very same mistakes. because of this, there is no reason to believe that they will ever do bug fixes because they have a track record for that behavior. in all reality and judging by the numbers it is too late and nowhere near too early. This! As well Nope. Just because in general it would be the case. Wildcard is not on par with this sort of thing. you can have your opinion or beliefs, but at the end of the day you are just wrong
  34. 1 point
This is true and adheres to general game development philosophy. However this game suffers from a major PR problem in the PC gaming community at large. Many people will not play the game even if it were given for free because of the bad reviews. Those reviews are largely negative because of major bugs and cheaters going unpunished. They've stated that they're not worried about player numbers right now, but one day they will care. Fixing the PR problem the game has will be a long process, and starting on some of that damage control now will pay off in the long run. Fixing bugs that require changing important parts of the engine would be better to hammer out earlier rather than later, as the more stuff they add the higher the risk of those fixes breaking other aspects of the game.

This is a suggestion asking that you reduce the amount of weather that makes the game less playable. Low wind- whenever the wind is at the lowest level, your sailing at less than half of normal speed. This constantly turns a hour long sail into a two hour long much more boring sail, and there's not much its adding to the game to make it fun. Take it out. Fog- foggy weather can be a thing, but cold fronts shouldn't have any fog, and even regular fog still happens too often. We have had multiple ship battles ruined by fog, it's almost impossible to keep fighting in it, for the most part the fog is just annoying, it's not dangerous, it just makes the game less playable. I really love the game your making, but there's things like this in it, that take up so much of your play time, you begin to ask yourself, if the devs even want you to have fun playing it, and pvping in it. Just removing low wind weather, and fog entirely would help your game alot, however just reducing it would help the cause. Help us players love and play your game! We need more action and less 4 hour sails that end in an objective that only takes 10 minutes to complete.
  37. 1 point
Too early in the process to just do fixes. All those fixes will be thrown out the window after more content releases. Right now they just concentrate on enough to keep the game moving forward. Once most of the final release content is in game they can go full bore on bug fixes.
  38. 1 point
Bases are raid bait, unless you have online players defending there, which is why I'm pushing for design change, alot of companies dont have enough members to be online 9 combat hours of the day, despite the devs efforts offline ships are still sunk easily, which is why I'm pushing for a Freeport design change, so that very small companies/solo players could maintain their things in freeports, and exists in the pvp world as just a ship with whatever they have with them. It's the easiest way to play currently, and it's pretty fun, they should just make it part of the games design.

Yep as of today, I am out as well. Might roll a new toon sometimes in the future somewhere.

here is the issue, and the part you seem unable to comprehend. According to the math, at certain weights, you will move faster with a weight sail or two than you would with all speed sails. So depending on what your normal configuration and weight is, you may be faster with a cargo crate or a weight sail. I would suggest you actually attempt to read the data I provided instead of shouting something that you heard someone else say.

Reality aside, the answer is the dev team working on this game is unfortunately lacking in some basic game theory. Specifically, how to create any semblance of risk vs reward or proper incentives. In thier shallow attempt at it, the best they could come up with is......it takes more resources to build. In fact, the entire concept is as follows: More = More More resources = moar better boat More people = moar better company More tames = moar skill More islands = moar game Its sad really.

Why complain? You know this game is not complete, and yet you cry like a little girl. this game is still in its creation phase they let us play it while they are creating it as an ark player I understand the frustrations that you know we went through from wild card but they're trying you're complaining over a game that isn't even finished. If the game really is that much of a burden to you stop playing other than that stop crying and evolve like the game is.

people quit because new games come out, Is really nothing to do in this game. powerstone runs are garbage, you just run inside the cave die rinse and repeat until you get to the stone. stupid.... Can spend months building a base/island only for it to be wiped in 10 minutes. ships getting sunk zoning into another grid because of lag. tames being killed while in pens by snakes. nothing to craft, 3 boats that you can build in one day. weak planks. to easy to sink. very unrealistic. you have thatch, wood, and stone. stone being what everyone uses so wood and thatch aren't even a thought. should be more tyes of walls and shit. each having strength and weakness. canon ball vs stone wall makes sense, but canon vs wood? wood flexs and shouldn't be destroyed as quickly as stone with a canon ball. but fire, or explosive barrel should do more damage to wood than stone. if I build a stone wall around my base made of wood, sure you can sit in your ship and shoot canon balls to destroy the stone walls but then your ass is gonna have to come on land and use flames and barrels to destroy the wood walls. now all you have to do to raid anyone is bring a ship loaded with canons and unload till its all gone then get on bears and maul everything. game is made by very lazy developers who have done nothing but copy arks code and reskinned it. They don't care about the pc population as it will soon hit consoles and that another 6 months of profits till they realize what we know. its a great marketing technique actually cant hate on them for it.

This was definitely my favorite to date. We needed a way to absolutely demolish anyone that wanted to come into our harbour.. We lucked out with a natural sand bar pretty much protecting all sides and with a simple sea-wall have a hell of a defended harbour! (Over 160 Guns + Swivels - Barshots, regular shot, spike shots on the back, flames in the middle, canister on the middle to side and puckles lining every direction and swivels guarding each side. Kill Count: 8 Brigs, 8 Schooners and 2 sloops. What are your favorite build projects?
