If anyone hasn't seen the upcoming Mega-Update patchnote changes, there is a new feat, "Double Harvesting" which will double all materials gathered by you. That causes a person with a good, high-level tool blueprint to blow tames out of the water, and with the addition of cargo carts, tame harvesting is going to be an option, not a requirement.

I think problem would be fixed by rebalancing islands so bigger ones are more appealing. They are much more expensive than smaller ones but don't give you any advantage. Smaller companies can't afford them and big companies don't want them. Maybe if they put at least 2 or 3 (on 100+ point islands) kinds of resources on those big islands it would stop big tribes from taking multiple smaller islands instead of a big one. Edit: And it would be ofc more appealing not only for owners but for potentional settlers (because everyone wants to live on an island with more kinds of materials) so big islands would actually be a thing in the center of attention instead of a small ones.

I will find you a better video ~Lotus this is a 2.0 video but the difference between 2.0 and 1.0 is damage and it summons galleys vs brigs. The general play style is the same. ~Lotus

I want to preface my remarks by clarifying that I have no technical expertise relating to keeping unwanted spam off of a gaming message board. What I do have is 15 years experience reading and posting to any number of gaming forums as a basis for comparison. That experience does not cast Atlas’s forums in a positive light with respect to the repeated spamming of ads in Chinese that this forum has been subjected to of late. I wish to focus not on the fact the spammed ads are in Chinese, this fact is largely irrelevant to the point I wish to make. Rather I want to comment on what this continued spamming implies to me as a gamer and customer. The implication is not good. I have never been active on a forum that experienced such prolonged and repeated spamming by what is quite obviously the same outside party continuing to disrupt discussion and use of the forum for legitimate purposes. The impression this creates on me as a customer and member of the Atlas community is that Grapecard is either unable or unwilling to stop this spamming. I have no idea which of these possibilities is true but either is a significant negative to the way I perceive Grapecard as a company and development team. Here is the obvious logical implication of this problem: If Grapecard is unable or unwilling to accomplish something literally every other forum I have participated in over 15 years has achieved in limiting spam of this type, why should I as their customer have confidence they can secure integrity of game files, accounts, or even my personal information? If someone can repeatedly spam Atlas’s forums with impunity, and Grapecard cannot or will not accomplish the most mundane of community management tasks in curtailing said spam, this cast significant doubt on their ability or willingness to secure the integrity of their game or my account. Patrons often judge an eating establishment by the cleanliness of their bathrooms, reasoning that the state of the bathrooms is likely a good indicator of the cleanliness of the kitchen. In short, Grapecard’s bathrooms have been made a mess by this spammer, and their failure to shut the spammer down in any way shape or form causes me to question whether I should continue to eat here.

Tames are fuking stupid. I heard Ark is full of tames that do cool shit. Maybe try that game and let them develope a game that has a chance at becoming a success rather than a shit Ark clone failure.

I use a keyboard, but I think you can get controllers these days. Having never used one I couldn't comment on them. I like both cats and dogs but my job has many days that I leave the house at 8am and don't get home til 8pm or even later. Hence I own cats but not dogs.

I have been saying this since before colonies launched. @Winter Thorne was there the fear was big tribes would take a bunch of little islands. Which I said is dumb but possible (I hate moving mass resources). They need to have the higher point islands have more variety so I could have an island with copper and an island with cobalt or I could have an island with copper and cobalt and silver. I'ma take that big juicy resource diversity island hands down. I'm not going to take a 150 point island that has not good metal on it that is dumb. I am hoping continents are what I wanted. Like imagine a huge island with 2-3 biomes on it. Like tropical into temperate into tundra progression on the edge of those biomes there's that island it would be so cool. Breed all the animals on 1 island not have outposts with all kinds of stupid animals set up all over the place. ~Lotus

Some of the stuff you say is hilarious to me, Lotus. We've talked about this before. Solos and smalls DO want to play with other people, they just don't want to be in big companies. Our island has 3 solos on it. We do all kinds of stuff together, and also hang out with a couple other islands full of solos and smalls. We set up by ourselves and we CAN hold what we have. The small islands are made for this. You know why some other people like us can't do the same thing and are unhappy? Because the larger companies are greedy and take too much. They chewed up all the small islands within hours of relaunch and now the smalls and solos have nowhere to go. Could it be that the megas have such enormous egos that they think the whole game is for them? It makes me laugh that you talk as though the non-mega people don't put effort into things. It takes a lot of effort to do things with a smaller group. And weren't you just bragging about how you wanted higher level tames and just told your minions to go do it all for you? Your posts were better when you weren't trying to throw shade on all the other players in the game, and pump yourself up so much. The claim system has issues. It's not great. Many people quit because of claims. They also quit because of griefing, the wipe, hacking, and lack of trust in Grapeshot to work through all those things successfully and listen to their players. Seems to me Grapeshot is making improvements. They still have a long way to go, and some of the things they do make you wonder what the hell they're thinking, but on the whole I think it's improving.

Host Connection Loop AGAIN After whatever the small update was overnight I am unable to connect to any server today. I get the 'host connection timeout' screen that then flips to the blue loading screen with the line at the bottom "welcome to the adventure of a lifetime". It just flips back and forth in a constant loop. I have verified files, uninstalled and reinstalled Atlas and it is still doing this.

Atlas is much better with ships fighting other ships at sea etc. than blowing a plank or 2 off of an anchored ship whose owner is offline Let them damage whatever they want if a ship is unprotected, but for the sake of fun it should not sink if anchored It's not the most realistic solution but a 15ft tall ship anchored in 3 feet of water sinking isn't very realistic either

I cannot connect to the server I have been playing on since the wipe. I can actually ping the server IP address, so its not a connection issue. If I choose connect to new atlas, I cant see any official servers listed, only unofficial. I cannot connect to the server I logged out of last nite. Ive validated my files (which fail but arent seeming to reaquire). Anyone else having this issue?

I was checking out the companies section, just to see if there are clans in my mother tongue recuiting. How can you find anything in that mess? How a player new to the game, who doesn't know anybody playing finds a clan In a game that's clearly design to play in larger groups? Maybe that has something to do with player retention in this game. Why don't you have a recruitment forum section like every other mmo ?

I agree that the spam is out of control. Although I would be curious what tools are available to combat this. You would think that there HAS to be a better solution that what they are currently implementing.

They need to make those bigger islands better in the first place.
  21. 1 point
Or go with a carrot and stick approach - bigger islands are better, and your costs go up dramatically depending on the number of islands you take.
  22. 1 point
I didn't say the megas owned too much land. They are just taking the wrong kind of land. Clearly, the small islands were meant to give smaller companies somewhere to claim, but as you say, the megas hold enough people to claim every small island in the game, while the larger ones just go unclaimed. The problem they were trying to fix with this claim system is that there wasn't enough land for all the people who wanted to claim land. There still isn't. This new system was specifically designed, so they said, to help smalls and solos. It didn't. The problem isn't fixed. The system isn't working.

So you don't have a problem with solo person or like 3-man company holding its own island. You even think they are entitled to own one. On the other hand you have problem with megatribe (how many people, 50+?) owning 5 islands. Do your math and you realize megas don't own too many islands if you compare their number of players and yours. They can have 5 islands (mostly biggest companies have like 4-5 islands) but hey, those are 60-70 people. Why does it bother you that 60-70 people companies have 5 islands and on the other hand you demand islands for solo players or small tribes?

Thanks captain obvious Metal gives the crab a weight of about 40%, for example. It also shows that with full levelup weight, the crab carries less weight than a bear, and it’s impossible to get an elephant weight at all. add. Compare the reality and the game, do not you think it's funny?) What does this game is not even trying to be realistic. The fact is that any animal is now better than a crab in terms of cargo transfer. Of course, the crab has its own niches for work, such as mining chests on the mountain, followed by a fall from the mountain. But in all other directions the crab is dead. Couldn't the crab be differently nerfed?

The problem is, Realist has a point. Many potential players will scan forums to collate a form of consensus, I do, it's the easiest place to see what's hot, or, what the gripes are (every game has people moaning in the forums). Usually this will help them understand why steam ratings are what they are (i'd lynch anyone that just takes steam ratings as gospel). People coming to the forums to understand the ratings are more likely to buy (as they're probably more interested, or nosey lol).

Yep, right in California and it has been raining a ton this year. We are going to get hit hard this season. Also why I am hoping for a December Xbox release because that is when I get laid off for the off season(yeah I know that’s selfish) yeah twisted ankles are no joke. I’m only in my 30’s but I already feel the difference between now and my 20’s. Me knees are what takes the brunt of it even more than my back. My captain has had 6 knee surgeries, I keep telling him to retire but he is one of those stubborn salty dogs.

I don't even see where continents would be good for the game, pvp or pve. This game is about pirates and ships. How fun would it be to be landlocked and not be able to place any shipyards? Even on the really big islands the only things I ever see deep inland are traps and shacks for storing mats.
  28. 1 point
And again. You have still 0 hours in ATLAS. You wait for console release you say (every time again). You cant judge a game what you never played.

You are the type of person who has his vision and no arguments will change it, never. Thats why I refuse to bother arguing with you there is no point. Center of the map is generally the most inhabitat area, megas are there, smaller tribes are there, its simply pleasant to live there. This position of new islands are in the center of map so everyone has pretty much the same chance to get there no matter where he lives. Just like Kraken position at h8. Your vision of developers scanning where most Megas are and putting new islands so Megas have direct approach is on the edge of paranoia. Thats the last answer you get from me, i won't bother you anymore.
  30. 1 point
Nope completely wrong. Sure there are other factors and I said there were. They just aren’t the ones you said. ark has maintained high numbers for over 3 years. So you are basically just saying atlas is a bad game, because people didn’t get tired of ark after serveral hours. They all still wanted to invest all of their time in it and there are ole ty of people spending 1-2 hours a day on it. None of your reasons are valid. the main factor is the claim system. The one that you got right and which is probably the second main reason if not tied for first is the Megas. Nobody wants to play with them so they leave. Those two factors alone will account for most of the loss.

The cargo containers reduce weight by 90%. I’ve heard that they have a limit of 2000 weight each, but I have not seen if that is before or after the reduction as I’ve not been back on to test that out.

Ok did testing, intel does not matter. We clicked 5 brigs, i clicked one with 100% intel, my crewmate clicked 4 with 500 intel. Same quality. Actual durability of shipyard matters, when we had a bit damaged shipyard it produced lower quality ship. We repaired it and it was better.

You did it my friend!!! Over 1K clicks You can be very proud of yourself

Because the setting for who can build is for the PvP system. As PvE is meant to be anyone can build anywhere the option has no affect on anything, it just remains there.
  43. 1 point
Its a pretty big god damn reason though. They (megas) aleady get; 1. Dev protection from bans. 2. Private conversations with devs. 3. Able to sway game settings to thier favor. 4. Almost every patch strengthens them. 5. No downside to being large. 6. No upside to being small. 7. Previews others dont get. Ffs. Limiting beds would at least give a semblance of a balance to smaller companies.

Same I dont get peoples that hate the game and just come here to shit on it .... we got it ... it's a * copy of ark * ok who care ... I haven't liked ark and love atlas so what ever ... I enjoy the game ... but its a beta ... no game is perfect and they working on it adding stuff to it ... that game deserves lots more good comments ....

It is true. We were able to fight even against liquid flame but not against blackjacks.
  48. 1 point
Well see it that way, if less ships are wasted pointlessly they can be harder to build again. Id prefer more sea battles, boarding parties and the like over sinking anchored ships by damaging one plank when no one is around. Why shouldnt the game be hard for the attacker as well? After all the devs soften the game because it is so easy to cause a lot of damage and they have to do something to keep players playing, best would be if they tend to the cause.
