again EA players need to stop playing the game like things are permanent , they are not , play this as if tommorrow everything could be gone or changed , then players wont get so butt hurt when changes happen

In fairness, the shotgun ships had become an ‘I win’ button meta. And it needed addressing. as every combat ship was a similar build, I actually thought it limited creativity.

I suspect that this change had a lot to do with kiting ghost ships - stack a few rear-facing large cannons and kite all day, no damage. But either way, forcing ships to do most of their fighting broadsides is generally a good move.

When placing mortars it would be helpful if there were a blue cone visible that shows the range and arc of fire prior to confirming their placement with a mouse click. Furthermore when using the mortar, the aimpoint and arc can be impossible to see without using the "k" camera it would be nice to have a camera view above and behind the mortar that gives better visibility of the target

For example I enjoy killing sotds, leveling ships, building ships, trying new builds and figuring out what is the best build for pvp. It doesn't matter how much time I invested in it because I enjoyed the process. On PvP i can lose that ship in a naval battle and puff, all those hours gone, I can start again. I know maybe for PvE players it seems like a total loss but for PvP? We sunk 2 gallys and 6 brigs 3 days ago. They need to rebuild again. Imagine you not only lose your large cannons but whole fleet. Patch hit only those cannons.

Although I can see why you might take this position it’s underlying assumption is that most gamers do not grief others unprovoked. Long years of experience have led me to the conclusion that plenty do.

So the Game Has made cannons's backwards!!! Just like the game Screwed up with the Speed of Ships!!! Long 9's (Long Range smaller shot, typically used for Stern and Bow Chasers!) 32 Lb Carronades, (Short Range, Very Heavy shot, Short Barrel) Once again real life could have made this game better, and once again they ignored real life! Long Gun's and Carronades give ship very different tactical benifits!!! Short Range vs Long Range!!! But this game only knows one Philosophy, Bigger = Better is this game made in Texas????

Had really high hopes for this game, they always ruin shit before having a way to fix what they broke, and we have to sit here and flounder while they figure it out. nerfing PVE because of PVP is stupid. Seems like a bad move for a game bleeding people constantly. Soon it wont matter at all because there will be no one playing. Nerfing is one thing, but this fundamentally changes the game for alot of people, some of which have put a TON of time getting 5 or 6x mats together to build awesome ships. Instead of fixing core issues they take the lazy way out and just cut things out. We arn't a large company, 30-40 people , but this is the straw that broke the camels back for us, not just this but all the bullshit we have put up with until this point. Maybe we will come back some day, but this game is a shit show right now and wasting hundreds of cumulative hours gathering 5x-6x mats because of lazy devs with no imagination. They are so lazy they cant even figure out how to give back the proper mats for what we have to destroy now, they could have done that at least so its not such a HUGE waste, but again money-grab/lazy/don't care call it what you want.

Those of you saying you can’t fight SOTD groups without front or rear facing cannons need to come sail with some of us who do. Those who say it can’t be done shouldn’t get in the way of those who are already doing it.
  10. 2 points
good change it will allow the devs to balance everything for proper naval warfare and positioning
  11. 2 points
That's obvious griefing, and should get a time out, a wipe, or a ban. PvE types seem to be especially toxic and trollish.

When did this become a thing? Thought imprinted boost only applies to the person who imprinted, and not just anyone.

I think a better question is, why are pants the icon of being old? A beard maybe or a cane. Who says, “Put on your pants dad, it’s time to go look at coffins”?

Trade "Ship combat is now" to "Video games are". You dont need to be overweight to be ready for combat. Cool your jets a bit, nothing is ruined. Search for BP cannons and you can still deplank people in 1 volley with less cannons. Less cannons = less weight.

Wait, what? Selling on Ebay?? Didn't see anything on Ebay just now. We had an asshat clan "wheel clamp lock" one of our brigs. With a buoy that said, parking ticket. All because they decided to build a base where our ship already was anchored. Ticket was filed, obstruction removed. This was on a lawless island that was a great place for bears and tigers. Now it's spammed to hell.

Try this one: Options > Advanced settings > Disable menu transitions With that, you don't have to confirm whether you want to transfer all or not.

Breeding carnivores requires too much maintenance, due to low meat stack count in feeding troughs. If we could get the stack count increased to 100, so it matches berries and vegetables that would solve the issue. Or let carnivores eat cooked meat, that has higher spoil timers. Just had 2 baby lions and a wolf die after refilling 5 feeding troughs with full meat before I went to sleep. They died after 5.5 hours due to spoiled meat. Unless it suppose to be this time consuming, I doubt it. I can raise 20 baby bears at a time, and sleep for 8 hours with the 100 stack support for vegetables. Thanks!

Same here. Just... I use Brig with 4 xtra cannons each side. The highest Galley I down so far is lvl-26. Highest fleet of 7 at once (they were Schooners lvl-3, lvl-4, lvl-12 and lvl-17 and Brigs lvl-2, lvl-10 and lvl-13) But I actually was a bit damaged after that last fight and went back with just 2 sails : )) Before wipe the Highest SotD I down was lvl-36 and lvl-24 at once. What I do wanna say - I personally don't feel all those shotguns are really required in PvE. (the only feature I do want to - is to control spread of cannons hit area. Right now it's just too wide and in most cases I need it more compact).

If you are joining a new company chances are that you won't need to build since they may have everything ready. If you merge you get to keep the things as long as you select the "merge" option, if you have a ship you should be able to easily move it to the new location. If you play on EU PVE and want to keep your things while having some people to play with you can meet us a O3.

i love the change, TY devs for listening most of the negative posts are from people who have ships they now have to change. i have to change to but i am happy to change
  22. 1 point
I don't mind the change, all cannons should be removed from back anyway. I always use side cannons as intended.
  23. 1 point
tbh i have no idea i just keep shooting

We do bear/tiger really easy without any problem. Razortooth on the other part are way harder ^^ But way better at combat (if good base stamina)

You must be new. For this to happen, all he had to do was park his ship beside an island. That's literally all he had to do. Keep in mind that reports of people placing pillars along the shores of islands, to rip the bottoms out of people's boats. Keep in mind that people in official PvE pillared the crap out of islands, so they wouldn't have to deal with the eye sore of somebody else's base. PvE players can be some of the most toxic people you ever want to meet...on official...and sometimes the coolest, on unofficial. The ones on official, often just don't like having neighbors...unofficial servers are often less populated, and thus it doesn't provoke people to be bungholes. Usually more than enough islands to go around, and the big islands are big enough to accommodate more than one base, without rubbing elbows.

Question is, what did you do to invoke someones wrath? I pretty much don't buy the whole innocent bystander line most of the time. Chicken and the egg. Which are you?

I have a similar issue here, I have some tenants the built in water on a small 15 point island to not block my resource spawns.. now basically I demolished my shipyard to replace with new ones I've built, guess what? I can't cause = TOO CLOSE TO ENEMY FOUNDATION? I just had that shipyard there 5minutes ago.. sigh this is stupid, either let us just prevent people from building on island and just allow 'permitted' players to build or fix this mess, how about let OWNER of island build anywhere and ignore the enemy foundation stupidity? Idk this is just annoying.. now we are basically screwed, because the tenants have some things that decay for 35 days in water (which is also dumb as hell, why can they even place these long decay things without foundation?)

I'm the same way. Engineer for a large company and if something goes wrong at home I walk out of the room and do something else. I'm off work damnit! Just work!

Also same issue. I can lay and stack floors on Land, but not in water, getting the "Too close to enemy foundation" message. Can't even add a submerged floor on top of an existing submerged floor already laid

I did something like that for so many years I never want to look at it again. Oh sure, if there's an error that fires some neuron locked away behind the HORRIBLE -WORK - DON'T LOOK IN HERE door, I might take a quick stab at it to see if my guess was right. Other than that, I view these situations about the same as finding a slug in my salad.
  32. 1 point
yep same here, undersurface building isnt possible at the moment
  33. 1 point
I would think that’s easy to explain. Spreading peanut butter on the back of an alpaca “glues” short people on. Their legs being to short to reach the stirrups.
  34. 1 point
I am having the exact same issue. In the middle of my building, I attempted to build foundation within the water and continue to get the "Too close to enemy foundation'.

make at least two gunport behind as on this model! you make solo players unable to resist SoTD! if you also think that like under my comment, developers may see ...

I even understand your point of view you seem to like a more realistic battle but this is not a simulator of naval battles. I always prepare myself before battling with ships in the Golden Age I have almost 2k hours in this game and I never lost a ship and I visited the forum since Day 1 of this game but most of the time as a spectator I am not a newbie here. my NPC crew has better armor than mine and I never leave the game before repairing every part of my Ships. the render distance of the SOTD was greatly reduced, probably to "optimize" the game... the SOTD Galleons appear very close to you and they detect the animals on the ship's deck from an even greater distance. Would you like to know already that you play in the PVE what you order or it disrupts your gameplay in knowing that your neighbor owns cannons in the back or front of the ships?
  38. 1 point
Some people like me prefer efficiency , you call it cheap way to fight we called it best way for saving materials , instead of wasting materials to repair guarantee damage after every fight those materials could be use for something better.
  39. 1 point
ROFL...Someone should have told me and the folks I play with. I cleaned three grids of squads in my brig last night...and it ONLY has medium cannons in gunports. You sail with some competence and you kill them...

Lol @Cpt.Yarrr butt hurt that another abuseable meta is being fixed. If your honest with yourself you knew this was comming. What you call "creativity" was actually the opposite. Nothin at all original about playing scratch meta.

"Creativity" yeaaaaah riiiiiiight... It's good that this was adressed.

That they are laughing at the players, 1st they cleanse to leave the theme of the flags as the ass, now I have a galleon and brigantines loaded to the brim with long cannons that are not worth anything, PVE game the long cannons on land they are useless, not even the more than 1000 bullets that I have, they have no idea how to develop the game, more useless could not have been managing a game, the phosphorescent AI ships are going to be included by the programmers or game managers, the only thing that they do well is to touch the eggs to the players it does not surprise me that people leave this game and do not recommend anyone to buy it
  43. 1 point
Placing cannons on the front and back of ships was great if you wanted easy kills, the issues was that it caused just that, kite to win. The developers are attempting a naval battle by allowing the use of large or small cannons in gun ports you still get some creative ideas on how you’d begin a fight. Pre-wipe I never used cannons on the front or rear of the ship but I did plan my fights and some fights drug out for periods of time due to the slow turning of the Galleon and lack of cannons on the Brigantine. Fights were fun though but it did require planning to win especially having to deal with the wind.
  44. 1 point
At the moment, every combat ship is a front or backloading shotgun. If anything now people will have to get more creative to adapt and overcome.

I don't mind fog, it's eerie. What I do exceptionally hate is the fact that NPC / SoTD, are immune to it... they hit you through a wall of fog thick enough to be able to spread butter on it. IF fog had utility against SoTD, and you could use it to escape, then i'd be super happy... but it's a one way mirror, and we, human players, get the mirror side.

update to my earlier post.... i went to h8 tonight in my standard brig.......first time of trying i went to the whirlpool thing...then all of a sudden im seeing a massive kraken....and sods...and human players and a new style wall.....(instance border)......after 35 mins the job was done.. hell i even used the measly 180 cannon balls i had and took out 3 tenticals.... as soon as it dies i saw the notification on screen ect........and got the hell out of there and headed home...(after some sail repairs) also have a rather odd lookin kraken hat thing tomorrow all igot to do is grab another 2 types of metal for ingots and prob do my gem bit at freeport...then bang...i got a sub of my own.. its a game lads.....game it

The buff shows up in the upper right corner while you ride, not in the stats themselves. Press H to see details
  49. 1 point
Just to add a precision, gamepedia's info are wrong about stats, they took the same way Ark work, but they don't work the same. You should not trust in gamepedia on Atlas for the moment, saddly his content is mainly wrong, people are adding shits into it Some example on a thousand, A level 1 animal have no point spent, he's 0 everywhere (where in Ark he would have spent 1 point somewhere (health, stamina, ..)), they don't spend/lost point into speed. Razortooths are breedable, etc.. Anyway, made a dododex like but for Atlas (have less fonctionnality, will add more in time) https://globy.dev/animals

there is 2 imprinting bonus, one for the "father/mother" (the one claim it), the animal will gain 25% damage and resistance when mounted by the parent, no matter % of imprinting, just need to be father/mother. (not something you can see, except one icon in the upper right corner while you ride it). The other is from imprinting, each time you imprint he will get some % He'll gain stats you can directly see on him
