Don't make stupid promises like monthly releases please, we all know how it's going to end. Honestly, you should know better by now.

Please do not keep adding animals to this game like in Ark. It is supposed to be a pirate themed game. Please spend more time and focus on giving us more options with our ships and leave the animals and taming alone. I don't want to have to tame 50 different types of animals to get all the perks they give for gathering resources or buffing etc. If the game is going down that path, then there is no point in playing this game-we can all just go back to playing Ark. I think there are too many animals that we can tame already. I thought this game was supposed to focus on pirates and boats...

As long as the Devs are making the new content more sea based it's all good They need to get away from. Tames this isn't ark , More ships , more ways to customise them , more sea based areas , more sea monsters STOP WITH ADDING MORE LAND TAMES AND LAND CONTENT ,AND CONCENTRATE ON SEA BASED ADVENTURE CONTENT

It would be nice if you guys would fix what's already in the game before worrying with adding content. Also, seriously stop giving dates, you're always incorrect.

I really do appreciate the fact that this development team actually works, but this game has still been filled with development disappointments non stop. Nearly all your community owns and played ark. We keep telling you we don't want another ARK, which you guys seem to keep ignoring us on. And now you've started the "Can you guess what this new Tamable is?" ARK crap. We're all playing ATLAS because we want a pirate MMORPG. Listen to your damn community. And don't go "steampunk", that ship has sailed and it's a much smaller market. I have yet to write a review for this game, because I'm seriously trying to give you guys a chance to redeem yourselves from your initial BLUNDERS, but you guys at Grapeshot can't seem to help yourselves. If you want to overcome your "don't buy this crap" rating on Steam, start making the game WE want, not the one you want. Listen to your community. We keep saying PIRATES, SHIPS, PIRATE STUFF, SHIP STUFF... and you guys roll out something new to tame to build bases and carry other tames on? Hello platform saddles, where have we seen you before? You're actually owning your Steam rating more than most games deserve. A negative Steam rating means you're doing it wrong, so start listening. We won't follow you when you create a new company name. We know who you are.

TBH if i wanna tame/breed = i go ark. Why u make pirat (ship) game and focus again on animals, hello? All left i think. You need make ships not animals. Ships, cannons, pistols
  10. 2 points
I agree, pls focus more on ship/sea content. If I wanted to tame crazy creatures I'd be playing Ark. Fix game mechanics, exploits and work on stopping cheaters. Add more ships and ship content. Look at armored planks and decks, balance the Sails and if you do add content, pls base it on the semi-period environment. Bring back the concept that is Atlas because I really want to play that game again. Try at least to get back to ships that look like ships. Set a cap on cannons per ship, make NPC skills a thing (so that people care about not losing them) and add a major debuff negative response to people just killing themselves to reset their mineral, thirst and hunger stats. Pls.

Yup, many things need a repair before more content is added. The whole breeding thing never worked well from the start, Ive heard you guys speak of it a ton of times. I never ever tamed, i let others do that task. It wasnt my thing in ARK and it wont be my thing here. I am a pvper not a tamer, rider for pvp. Id rather run ship battles and defenses then that. But i do agree work on the existing system first. Next will be mega shark tames for the seas, you can ride and flame arrow down boats. Will boats still be a thing soon?

I hope there's not too much of a future focus on new animals, just keep them to the necessary. Also please sort out spawn mechanics, I find it rather silly allowing bears to spawn in tropical but you can't breed them in tropical. How can they spawn if they can't breed?

Updated 12/30/18 Okay, so I have done my setup from scratch and I'm going to provide a step by step walk-through. I believe this is a good starting point for any new server owner looking to get up and running for the first time, or someone looking to play "Singleplayer" (Note: From my testing, the server needs to interact with Steam bi-directionally even for LAN/SP- some ISP's such as cellular hot-spots or NAT conditions may not work!). While this guide can be applied to all server types, the examples are geared towards a 1x1 grid. This can also be used as a debug process for advanced server owners to test things: _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Downloads: BAT Files & 1x1 Map Grid Template: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1MQ-8-WTta10p-TbAmnJ3DbfmNsDjaLsD (AtlasSrvBats.zip) ServerGridEditor: https://github.com/GrapeshotGames/ServerGridEditor (Hit "Clone or Download" then "Download Zip") steamcmd: http://media.steampowered.com/installer/steamcmd.zip NOTE: Make sure you update ServerGridEditor when changes are made to the git! Or even better- setup GIT and have it pull updates for you! _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Server Setup: 0) Create a directory where you will put the server files (Eg. X:\AtlasSrv) 0a) Open "AtlasSrv" and create "steamcmd" and "AtlasTools" 0b) Extract steamcmd.zip into "steamcmd" and run "steamcmd.exe" 1 time to set it up. When the prompt shows "Steam>" with an OK message above you can close this window. "steamcmd" folder should look like this now: 0c) Go back to "AtlasSrv". Open "AtlasSrvBats.zip". Extract the "LAUNCH_ATLAS_00.bat" and "ATLAS STEAMCMD.BAT" to this folder. 0d) Right-Click "ATLAS STEAMCMD.bat" and click Edit. Replace the contents of this file with (Change "X:\AtlasSrv" in both entries with the directory you are using): start /wait /high X:\AtlasSrv\steamcmd\steamcmd.exe ^ +login anonymous ^ +force_install_dir X:\AtlasSrv\ ^ +app_update 1006030 validate ^ +quit 0e) Save & Close. Run "ATLAS STEAMCMD.bat. You may be prompted with firewall permissions, you must "Allow Access". (This process will take some time) 1) Your Atlas server directory should look like this upon completion: Congrats! Your server files are now downloaded and on the latest version. You can use ATLAS STEAMCMD.bat at any time to validate and upgrade the server. Now onto the map! _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Map: 1) Extract "ServerGrid1x1" folder from "AtlasSrvBats.zip" to the "AtlasTools" folder 2) Extract the ServerGridEditor zip to the "AtlasTools" folder. Open "ServerGridEditor.exe" within the "SeverGridEditor-master" folder 2a) Open the "Island Editor" (ServerGridEditor.exe), "Open project" and navigate to the ServerGrid.json file we extracted into "AtlasTools" 2b) Click "Project > Create" in the top left. Copy the "Atlas ID" and CANCEL. 3) Click "Project > Edit": 4) Paste the "Atlas ID" you have on your clipboard into the "Atlas ID" of this window. 5) Change "Friendly Name" to your Server Name. Change "Atlas Password" if you want a password on the server (This will be needed to keep people out for singleplayer!) 6) Click "Edit" at the bottom. 7) Ctrl+Left Click on the map: 7a) Set "Name" to what you want for name of your Freeport (Grid) 7b) Set "IP" to your Server external IP (whatismyip.com). Server internal IP (192.168.x.x) can be used, but this will disable public access! 7c) Hit "Save" at the bottom (You can make more changes later but in first-time situation, it's nominally best to use default settings). 7d) Back in Island Editor (ServerGridEditor), Click Export > Local Export ALL. Click ok to the default location. Popup should say "Success". 7e) Click Project > Save. Navigate to the "AtlasTools" folder, create a new folder "Live project", use the file name "ServerGrid" and "Save". (This way you can edit more later and keep the template untouched!) 7f) Close Island Editor. Open "AtlasTools/ServerGridEditor-master/Export/" folder. Cut/Copy the "ServerGrid" folder and 2 JSON files: 7g) Navigate to "AtlasSrv/ShooterGame" and paste: 7h) So close! Navigate back to "AtlasSrv" and Right-Click "LAUNCH_ATLAS_00.bat" and Edit. Replace the contents with (Replacing "X:\AtlasSrv" with your directory, and "SeamlessIP" with External IP) start /high X:\AtlasSrv\ShooterGame\Binaries\Win64\ShooterGameServer.exe Ocean?ServerX=0?ServerY=0?AltSaveDirectoryName=00?ServerAdminPassword=123?MaxPlayers=30?ReservedPlayerSlots=25?QueryPort=57561?Port=5761?SeamlessIP=1.2.3.4 -log -server -NoBattlEye exit @Firedragon's Command line if the above does not work for you: 7i) Save & Close. Navigate to "AtlasTools/redis-server". Run "redis-server_start.bat". Wait for the command line to say ready to accept connections. 7j) Configure port forwarding with these ports on your router. Change the IP to match the one you put on the Map file: 7k) The moment you've been waiting for; Navigate back to "AtlasSrv" and Run "LAUNCH_ATLAS_00.bat". When the command prompt displays how many cores it is running on, your server is up! OPTIONALS redis-server: redis-server.conf has options to change your database password and how much RAM (maxmemory in the conf) the database will use in bytes. I personally set the maxmemory to 1GB (1073741824) for my 1x1 testbed. I don't play often locally so I dont know the impact other than a possible crash if the DB runs out of memory (redis does require a pagefile, so I think it will start writing to the disk if it runs out of memory? not 100%) . The DB file is saved on the disk in the same folder so you can track it's size over time and adjust accordingly. I'm not sure on the specifics, but I would say it's safe to keep the max memory 2.5x higher than the database size AT MINIMUM (to account things like the database copying itself and swap space). For sake of argument me playing by myself without doing much the database was about 90MB, so 1GB RAM allocation should be plenty of breathing room for the forseen future. If you change your password in the redis-conf (for added security), you must also update your passwords in the map file under Project > Edit (You can see the old password "foobared" in one of the images above. These should reflect your conf file). AtlasSrvBats.zip also comes with an undocumented, but included "LAUNCH ATLAS ALL.bat". This file can be placed in "X:AtlasSrv" (Your server's root directory with the other bats) and be used to start redis-server and server/s in one shot. It is currently setup to launch redis-server and the first grid server. Additional grids can be launched by un-commenting (removing the #) from the corresponding lines, and making a copy of "LAUNCH_ATLAS_00.bat" for each additional grid (LAUNCH_ATLAS_01.bat, etc), and editing their launch strings accordingly (Correct X/Y, ports, etc). TROUBLESHOOTING Still can't connect to server after following guide? There are many different networking situations based on individual setup and ISP that no 1 guide can account for all. Most issues connecting beyond following this guide come from user error, improper hardware configuration (PC/Router/Modem), or Local/ISP NAT restrictions (Some net providers and most cellular hot-spot providers, see CGN https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrier-grade_NAT). Some users have reported finding "NAT Acceleration" or similar options in their routers and disabling them has allowed them to connect. Double-check port settings on router and for Windows Firewall IN & OUT. Sometimes 1 digit missing or out of place is the simplest error. Make sure your launch bat parameters and map file details match your port settings in your router & firewall. Check within router (and modem, if accessible) for options to allow "Open" NAT (Sometimes set to secure by default) Make sure there is no "NAT Acceleration" taking place If you router has no buried NAT features, you can attempt this workaround: A NAT Loopback workaround method for some newer routers and ISP modem/router combos that do not support NAT Loopback: https://forum.sector3studios.com/index.php?threads/workaround-if-you-cannot-join-your-own-dedi-server.4672/ You -CANNOT- ever connect directly to the internal IP of the server. You must connect from your External IP (forming a hairpin): If your client PC IP is 192.168.1.2 and your server PC IP is 192.168.1.3 You share a WAN/Internet IP (whatismyip.com) that you use to connect as if you were an external client: 192.168.1.2 -> WAN IP -> 192.168.1.3 steam://connect/WAN IP:Port (Replace WAN IP and Port with corresponding numbers) 192.168.1.2 -> 192.168.1.3 direct connect will never resolve (UNABLE TO QUERY INVITE) with current method used by Grapeshot to force steam usage. If all else fails, like some cellular mobile hotspots, your ISP may be using a CGN (Carrier-Grade NAT). You can read more on CGN here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrier-grade_NAT If you have a CGN'd IP from your ISP, you will not be able to host a server until things can be run completely local, or your ISP can move you to an IP pool that is not governed by their CGN implementation. As a very last resort, if your dedicated server is online and visible to others, but you cannot connect to your own local server, and the NAT Loopback fix does not work- Consider using a VPN like Windscribe (free 10/20GB month with tweet/voucher promo). http://windscribe.com - You want to use the VPN on the PC you are playing on, NOT the server. Doing this will give you a virtual hairpin where you can connect to your own external IP. If you are playing on the same computer as the server, you will need to use a VPN program that is application specific (Proxifier), and point it towards AtlasGame.exe. This way, the VPN becomes your hairpin back to your external/WAN IP only for ATLAS, while the server continues to do it's thing unaffected by the VPN. Manage all the servers on your Cluster with Atlas Server Control. If you want to run all the servers from one machine, you can do that too. Mod support, yes. Automatic updates? Absolutely. The Server Grid Editor has been integrated and config editing has never been easier! Even the Redis Database is taken care of by ASC. Some Basic Information - During the first run of Atlas Server Control, SteamCMD will be installed and the Setup Wizard will start. - ASC is Beta and will contain bugs and unfinished code, there will be buttons that do nothing and minimal error handling increasing chances of crashes. - I strongly recommend a clean installation of ATLAS Server Control. This will ensure no permission related issues arise. - ASC contains a Setup Wizard to assist with creating a new map or importing an existing. RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR If you dont, you'll endure days of pain and suffering. Items to be addressed - Scheduler needs refactoring and features completed - Server Grid Editor implementation is third-pass, still more work needed. - More than a dozen instances of (OMG) code that needs rewriting (still). Wiki is Here I'll try to answer questions when I have time, which unfortunately is not very often. Don't forget, there is a lot of unfinished work in this release, if something is not working, it's probably not complete. Downloads Download HERE - (Guilded Support Community)

When you open the mini map and you are in someone else’s claim area, the little red x that shows your position on the minimap is very close to the red color of the claim area. This makes it very difficult to see where you are on the mini map. if we could have the color of the red x changed, maybe simply black will be enough, this would improve the visibility.

Hey Pathfinders! Just wanted to come in and give you a quick status update for ATLAS 1.5 before the weekend. We are planning on launching the Public Test Realm next Wednesday, the 3rd of April, and by then there will be an in-depth Captain’s Log which will do a deep dive on the entire patch so you know what to expect. Full patch notes can be found here: Going forward, we expect subsequent major updates to come on a monthly basis, which will include more content such as new items, weapons, creatures and new areas for players to check out! We know that this update has taken quite some time and we really appreciate everyone’s patience as we dug down to the core of the claiming system and reworked it. We expect that we’ll have this ready to ship onto the main network by the week of the 8th of April. Following ATLAS 1.5, there will be a lot more to come in terms of design changes and content. This announcement post contains a sneak peek of some upcoming new creatures, can you guess what abilities they’ll have?

I already made a suggestion post, I think gun damage vs tames needs to be at least tripled ,and puckle dmg needs to be quadrupled. Maybe even more is needed, you can see actual numbers in the suggestion link at the bottom. If you have fought against tames and flame swivels yet, you might think the same. If you like this suggestion, upvote this or the suggestion post please!

In the Captain's Log 23 dated 3/8/19 it stated the claiming system will be a modified version of the PVP system. With the Mega March update, the claim systems on PvE will change from being lawless-esqe servers to the following: Use the same claim system as PvP, but remove the raidable hours and war aspect. This means that players will be able to claim islands, and anyone can build on those settlements. Each settlement will have an upkeep cost which is based on a variety of factors such as the islands ranking, the number of settlements that company has, and how many different companies are building on the settlement. Settlement owners will be able to set a tax rate, and also players will be able to place their player run shops on the claimed land. However, we are planning some PvE specific changes We’ll be imposing a hard limit of Claim Points equivalent to one small island for single players. Companies will be able to own multiple settlements, but there will be a hard limit and it will be based on Island Points and the number of players who are currently in that company. This means that larger companies will have access to more ‘Claim Points’ and are therefore able to settle on more islands with higher rankings, however, we will still be imposing a relatively low cap. Company alliances will no longer be enabled on PvE servers. We understand that there are some legitimate use cases, however, in this sandbox environment, we believe they will primarily be used to game the system and get past company rules/limitations. We recognize that this may impact how trading communication takes place on PvE servers and we are looking into an alternative option for players. I believe most PVE players do not want this type of claiming system. It's tailored for the PVP game play and is most likely too difficult to have two different systems to program. I just want land to build on and not have to pay taxes, land upkeep or whatever you call it. Just give every player a token for a land claim which they can use, sell, or give away and most would be happy. If there are any PVE players out there that want the settlement owner claiming system, please let me know why.

"We dont want Ark 2" The hell we dont, I would take Ark 2 and i would love the hell out of it. In due time though(Its already been confirmed by some executive guy in the company that owns wildcard). I like my Ark and I like my Atlas, but Im the kind of guy that doesnt like his food to touch. Same for games. I agree with having a hard line between the 2. I would be totally happy if we just *tossed out the rework(keep the content though like the trench and biomes), *limited claims to ~2 per person, made it so the more citizens you have living in your territory(citizens=non-company players living on your land) is what dictates how long it would take to steal a claim so it incentivizes landsharing *add moar ships and ship parts(see my other post in general discussions for more detail)

So, let me get this straight. Mega’s make up what? About 10% of the player base. (from what I’ve been able to find – could be inaccurate) Some people (no numbers found) don’t play / were driven from the game because of Mega’s. Most of the exploits / cheating is found within these groups. Why do Grapeshot even try to cater to this small subset of players? Why not try to eliminate them from the game entirely? It might be entirely possible that the games population would increase without these Mega’s in the game at all. Could be a worthy experiment to try as it’s EA.

Did some testing this morning, and there is a serious problem with tames vs defences, and with tames vs players. As it currently is dmg values against tames are very low. All this testing was done with primitive 100% weapons. Pistol, 23 dmg Carbine, 40 dmg Blunderbuss, 90 dmg Puckle gun, 25 dmg This is how much these damage tames Which, is not enough to threaten anything. Flame swivels are the only thing that can put out out real damage to the tame and rider, however you can still ride strait past a flame swivel and live. Canister shot, destroys any defence/artillery structure in one shot. So I propose a rebalance, and I think the simplest thing to do about it would be increase gun and puckle damage to player owned tames. I think you need a 300% increase for guns and a 400-500% increase from puckles. This would keep tames in the combat as they would still be very powerful, but leave their usefulness up to player skill of the driver, and the defender shooting at them. Also puckles have a tough time tracking them to shoot while tames move at full speed anyways, so a 500% increase would help, and they would still have to shoot most tames with all 5 shots to kill. How it is now though, makes the combat shallow and your only good option is to use a bear or horse with swivel or cannon. The guns are useless vs this, their damage vs players is ok, but they are useless vs tames. A blackjack does dismount the rider, which could allow you to overwhelm it, with tames or other things, but that's about it for rider weakness or ways to disable them. If we dont want all the land combat to be tames only though, some serious damage buffs like these need to be put in place. Also remember that the heal takes 10 seconds to complete and is a min CD normally, or 20 seconds if you go with an intelligence build. So these current gun damage values hardly do anything to the tame, the strongest thing is the blunderbuss and all 90 damage gets healed before you can reload.

The reason some of the people posting here disagrees with the new system is because they’ve already experienced parts of it in the game already. Do you remember when they patched the claim flags so people could set build permissions ? Did you ever live on or visit different lawless regions where pillars and foundations were everywhere and no one could build ? What the new system is implementing can’t work for the majority of the players, it will work for large or medium sized companies based on the fact they already exist together. For a solo player or small group of friends trying to own their own island will be next to impossible so we will be forced to live on someone else’s land and abide by the rules they have in place ( structures can only be so big, your only allowed so many shipyards or ships, you can’t build on resources or any number of things they could come up with ) If the developers wanted to make the game more rule based then they should have limited claims like people asked, that would have stopped all of the complaints and negative post you keep bringing up. What you see as a positive thing coming, others see as a nightmare. When I have asked for something positive that could come from this, you stated that a landowner could take me by the hand and teach me how to build or he may have tames that he would be willing to give me because I live on his land. This might all be well and good for helping your kids who don’t know how to play the game get started in it but for experienced players it’s kinda like a slap in the face. Don’t challenge the intelligence of solo players, they are able to play games like this for a reason and it’s not because they rely on someone else to help them. Most solo players I know like to think for themselves and often get offended when someone tries to push ideas or direction on them.

I don't know what it is about this forum but people seem to want to talk down to others thinking they are superior, I don't get it. They wonder why it is so quiet when everything you say gets shot down or turned around. Any guests viewing these boards will most likely stay well away. I was talking to a streamer the other day about these forums and he summed it up, the forums are toxic he said, I'm beginning to agree. Anyway I can't wait to get started again and test it all out no matter what it's like, I enjoy playing it regardless. If after the wipe I find a bad island I will just keep on moving until I find a decent person owning it. I have fun with it anyway so I don't mind, I might get frustrated with it at times but I will stick with it.

My biggest fear, after seeing the new creatures, is that the same thing that happened to Ark is happening to Atlas. The devs kept adding creatures to Ark that no one really asked for. We ended up with way too many creatures and not enough bug fixes. There are still bugs in Ark that have not been fixed for years. They are now creating a new Ark play style that removes some of the creatures in Ark to make it more like it was in the beginning. I love the idea of new creatures but please do not add a lot of new content until you, at least, have figured out how we are supposed to play the game. There is a ton of content in Atlas right now that does not work correctly. Please fix that before adding new things!

Do not fragment your playerbase into multiple game modes.

Is anyone surprised nobody is watching when the servers are about to be wiped and nobody is playing?

Loot has to be moved there. It also has to be moved out to be used. Maybe make it so BP's cannot be built from inside Freeports. Sure the BP is safe, but its useless as well. Good BP's will only drop in low/null sec and only the good materials that are needed to build them are there as well. I don't think they would be useless. There are a million things we can tweak to make this work.

So, a pirate based game, probably wanting to replicate the south seas of our own pirate era. there were unclaimed islands that pirates and other lawless people populated - Lawless And settled islands run by governers that set docking fee's taxes etc. - all others The devs probably did away with the claim flags because of overlap abuse, not because one person could own a whole island. they offered a totaly lawless server, that still fits the south seas image, just one side. people didn't want it. (I agree, awful idea) They now profer a system closer to the south seas image than before. I might be wrong about this image of the game being what the devs are aiming for, but it all fits. So lets give it go, rather than asking for the game to fit you rather than devs vision.

that game mechanic is already in the game . . . it's called skill. you have to actually get OFF THE BOAT, climb the cliff, kill the mortar gunner, profit. this is so easy, there should be no further discussion.
