Since not everyone uses twitter. I will try and update this thread asap every time there is an update on twitter. This way, people that only use the forum can still be updated this way. I'll start with the latest tweet from today. The date's will be Day/month. 18/03: 16/03: 15/03: 14/03: 12/03: 08/03: 07/03: 05/03:

If the owner thinks that solo player our small company is not playing enough he brings not many resources in the bank he/she will kick you of the island to get a new one . Our will spam you that your a noob and do not know how to play etc and wipe your building to replace you. There is no insurance for players that are not a owner. You can be wiped at will and that sucks

I think it would be cool to be able to execute a NPC crew member with the guillotine to show the rest of the crew what happens if there is a mutiny. If you do this it would make your crew cost 0 gold for a few days or something.

I'm liking this one the best. Make everything decay very fast, but not so fast that someone can't make a temporary taming pen and tame a few creatures. So not 30 minutes, but maybe 12 hours for stone is more like it. Quicker for wood. Maybe 6 hours for wood, 3 hours for thatch. The repair structure acts as a claim, with a large no build radius. You put stuff in it for repairs. You can have just one per grid though. So just one base per grid per company. You want more bases, you have them on other grids. No limit other than the number of grids.

Renamed the thread in the interest of fairness due to the fact that both Jat and Dollie have popped into the thread. 3/4 -The vast majority of the people DESPISE the land claim changes on PvE. Being unable to protect the resources from griefers, being unable to protect yourself from griefers deciding that they don't want anyone building within a half islands worth of distance, ugly pillars and foundations everywhere, people griefing the hell out of ships and blocking harbors, plus blocking you from ever expanding your base by builkding as close as possible on either side of you - hell, they already did that with the claim overlaps as it was, and now EVERYWHERE is going to be like that? - A portion of the people hate the idea of the wipe, yeah, I know it's necessary due to land changes and because of the rampant dupeing going on, as well as to re-test the new settings. However, right now, a large portion of the apprehensions isn't just losing what they've worked for, its also fear that this means wipes on a semi-regular basis, so why bother doing everything, again - especially with the land system being so completely against what 95% of the players want, they are going to expect another wipe in a couple months to try again. -Playershops in settlements on PVP, but PVE just gets freeport vendors. Seriously? WTF? This idea has been floated multiple times on both here and reddit, and the general consensus was that PvE players liked it, but PvP players responses were 'Cool, but pointless, we don't trade and would just blow each others shops up anyway." -Abandoned ships still not getting mentioned as any solution found for them. Again, seriously? Yay! The wipe will take care of them, but what about all the ships from the people week 1 after the wipe, who decide to try it again, and realize that the new system is just Ark griefing all over again and quit after a week? (Yeah, the last two are somewhat minor compared to the first one, but, it is something that has time to be changed) I know that the devs enjoy the PvP side of things, and are in contact with a few of the megas over there, but there is another 50% (give or take) of people playing your game on PvE. Let me introduce you to them. (Say Hi, guys). We are the PvErs, we're generally the ones who prefer a low-key playstyle, without being griefed, and without being forced to worry about play schedules. That doesn't mean that we don't play the hell out of games that hold our interest, for 300, 500, 700, 1000 hours+ in 2 months...and recruit our friends/significant others to play those games with us. We build - you guys must love seeing our buildings, you post them on the community spotlight, but these changes, and the upkeep decay, are going to prevent that, because some douchecanoe can just block us from building that last wing of our 12th century japanese fishing port recreation, or our dock and pirate village, complete with shops that have signs, counters, everything but actual traders. We trade - Some of us joined the game to be pirates, and fight SotD all day (Thanks for the new types, btw). Some of us joined the game to be traders, wanting to travel the world for rare and exotic resources and tames, and bringing them back to our base that was designed and built to be a trading port, land to sell at a profit to our neighbors, or to be the one stop shop that sells high end goods to people from the surrounding areas...but we don't even get player shops on our lands, and with no claims, anyone can build a base anywhere, to get any resource, or just go to the closest freeport. We explore - Unfortunately, if you choose to be a builder, the upkeep costs are going to make you a farmer instead of an explorer. We socialize - We're on official because yes, we want the full map, but also because thats where the population is, or at least should be. But, if no one is coming by to trade, and if the overall population drops even lower due to the claim changes and people who get fed up with griefing, then there will be no one to socialize with. Grapeshot, the uproar on these boards isn't because we hate the game, we love it. We're also the ones who spend 300, 500, 1000+ hours playing on PvE. You guys have a dedicated, passionate playerbase that a lot of other devs would kill for. A player base that has been telling their friends about the game, but telling them to wait to get it, because it is so close to being so badass. A player base who wants you to listen to them, and what they've seen and wished for over their literally millions of hours of playtime over the last 2 months. You said a month or so ago, that you guys heard us. With all due respect, you may have heard, but you didn't listen. You HEARD the complaints over land claim, and decided to exercise the nuclear option and got rid of claims entirely, instead of actually LISTENING to people and finding a reasonable way to limit those claims. (even 10 per company with <25 members, 25 for companies of 25-100 members and 50 for companies with 100+ people would have more than enough land for people, and left a huge amount of open areas for new players - especially with the extra 200+ islands coming)

So I know you have been adding questing and are planning to add player bounties soon but I think you could really expand on the PVE content which would give both PVP players and PVE players tons of repeatable content to do. You could easily expand on levels of difficulty, rewards, etc. So the intent to a degree as previously stated is to have Atlas be a big MMORPG similar in some ways to EVE. Most MMO’s have daily, weekly or other kinds of repeatable content to do on a regular basis. One type of content I would love to see changed is a kind of quest/bounty system that can be repeated. You could either add a menu we can access, maybe a bounty board which can be crafted or which is located on every settlement near a settlement town square or something. You can accept individual bounties, make a party and accept a group bounty or have a company level bounty. For a starting idea it would essentially be to have NPC fleets you can get a bounty to go hunt and sink for X reward. Some of the rewards can be tier based on difficulty as well as quantity etc. You could be given a bounty to chase down a merchant ship, take out Armada X of navy Y, You could also add NPC islands which are prebuilt bases which players can accept bounties to Siege. Clear the fort and get to the loot room. After a while the fort resets. As for the shipping bounties you could be given a location to go to similar to the maps. Once you approach the area you could either 1 spawn in the ships or 2 have a situation where you have to try and find them within the vicinity. The bounty can have a timer from when you start to have to get to the location. More time if it’s further away. Daily limits and reset timers after X time. After the ships spawn in or you find them a ship battle commences of varying ship types and numbers depending on what kind of bounty it is. This could be listed in the bounty. After succeeding to sink the NPC ships you could loot the shipwrecks. This also would leave open a PVP opportunity if someone happens upon you and sees you looting a freshly sunk bounty. You could instead of having SoTD allow the crew members who don’t die and sink to the bottom to be pressed into service aboard your ship, those who refuse can be executed or taken back to a Freeport and turned in for a bounty or other countless options. We are supposed to be pirates and we should be pirating merchants and navies. Sometimes we will work together and sometimes we will fight each other over what the other has. You could have Infamous NPC pirates to fight as well in addition to the bounties placed on other players. As far as what kind of loot you can really expand on it. Gold is an obvious choice. You could also have rare items that get used in additional content which gets added down the road. rare trading spices, metals, woods, blueprints, cosmetics, etc. You could also have items to collect and turn back in for different items in the Freeport. Ship customizations and all sorts of other similar things the options are endless. I really feel like this game is too heavily focused around PVP at the moment and that is going to cause the game to be very limited as to who it draws in. I think by adding non PVP content on both servers will drag in a lot more players and leave everyone with something to do. Even people who PVP enjoy PVE content. Powerstone islands are another big opportunity for content. You could add this as a bounty as well beyond just the quests to do each powerstone for the eventual kraken fight. I would also love to see the powerstone island tunnels expanded upon. You could turn the tunnels into a dungeon, find a key to open the door inside this could be the powerstone key itself or another key that gets you inside. You could fight your way through or have puzzles or really expand on this and make it a fun challenge to get to the powerstone beyond the current cobra/bat maze where you just keep trying until you get through. There could be unique rewards at the end of each one which makes unique items. There could even be multiple types which players could trade parts and pieces with each other to make said items. I really hope the Kraken is just the first kind of “end game” raid style content on the game. This again can be greatly expanded upon as the game goes on having different types of bosses to fight both at sea and on land. I am sure other people have other ideas for PVE content in the game and I think you guys really need to add more. I am really hoping that Atlas does not repeat the Ark style of PVP only content. In my opnion it’s a toxic environment for most players to enjoy. If you want this game to be an EVE style game it needs a lot more content to do beyond PVP and things everyone can enjoy. I also think the PVP server should have low risk low reward zones which players can be safe inside of and high risk high reward areas where PVP is the mainstay. I would personally like to see PVE only servers removed as there are just as many people on those servers whose main goal and purpose is to grief players who are just there to have fun just as much as there are people on PVP who live to do the same. Every MMO I have played to date has PVP on it in some way but PVE and PVP exist side by side to varying degrees. If anyone else has ideas and thoughts feel free to share and expand. Hopefully the devs can pick some of them up and run with them or maybe get inspired on similar content they already have in the works and expand upon it. TLDR; I want to see a lot more MMO style repeatable quests, bounties, dailies, weeklies, dungeon, raiding content with generic and unique rewards and to be expanded upon as development continues. Have any thoughts or ideas feel free to make a post.

Wasn’t there a plank in the original trailer? The thing I find a real shame is that you can’t take sleeping bodies off your ship and lay them down on a tiny island. I’ve always wanted to put a crewmember down with 1 pistol and 1 shot. Just like in PoTC

No it doesn’t. Since the people that are damn salt on these forums think people like me and Boomer are just here to troll. So sad, but that’s society we need to deal with!

No players shops in PVE? What do they think we will be doing in this game in the future? Relaxing on our hammocks and get some sunlight? Oh wait, there are no hammocks ... Thumbs up for PVE player shops and hammocks!

I was thinking about the same solution, but as already said - in my opinion, it won't work. Griefers then will spam (fence) foundations and pillars snapped together, and it may even be easier for them to box your base fully in. I'm not a friend of receiving any restrictions in building. Building a pirate town including our main building, stables for around 20-30 tames, a garden and of course a pub will take some space, and when I want to build it that way (and as long as hostile creatures could glitch through anything), I will do that. It is simply one main reason why I play this game, and I would hate it if there would only be ugly small blocks all over the ATLAS. Imho implententing not-buildable areas like ressource spawns and ruins are the only way and an indispensable requirement that the gameplay will work without claim flags in PVE. I'm pretty sure Studio Wildcard had figured a way out on the normal "The Island"-Map in ARK - it was long ago I've played that map, but I think I remember some places where you couldn't build, although you could not see why in the first place. What do you think - maybe taking the new structures repair-box as a "claim flag" will work? After placing the box, it simply will block a certain radius for you, but you can place that box only once per company. The blocking radius will increase per 10 or 20 members or so. Placed structures without the box will decay in a certain amount of time - maybe two hours? -, regardless if it's thatch, wood or stone. This would make it even possible to built taming traps on other islands without worrying that your trap will decay whilst taming, but it would not last long enough that the guys who live on that island could be pissed about ugly traps everywhere.

Think the only one I went against the grain on was the 'happy with no claims'. I mean, I have only ever lived in lawless, have no idea what it's like having a claim. Never been able to place a flag in the absolute red covering each and every island... for me, no flags can only be good

When you have a game with thousands of players you have different kind of personalities. Evidently a lot of people have some kind of breakdown when they don’t know a release date or something.
  17. 2 points
honestly... not being level 50 has a large advantage of being able to respec while you level naturally. Cap level is over rated.
  18. 2 points
To be honest I have always hated the idea of someone feeling entitled to an advantage. If anything is should be the new incoming players that get the boost. either that or make the grandfathered people as you say have 1/2x so it is harder for them so the new players can have the advantage for once. That would be the best idea. your knowledge and experience already gives you an advantage. But hey if someone isn’t good at a game then sure I guess they would need to be 50 levels ahead did someone else btw, some quick info. New players are way more important than old players. I know some people think that being “loyal” whatever that is makes them entitled to special treatment, but once they have paid their money, their usefulness is simply gone after that.
  19. 2 points
@gnihar well yeah there is that. And it could be that they do that and ruin lawless living. Ill tell you... Ive lost lots of buildings and boats..... Ive only lost one boat and NO buildings to enemies... Everything else was demo'd and sunk either by appropriation or incompetents by people in the mega company i was in.. I wasn't happy until i left them and went to lawless.. The LORD and VASSAL system in place is not very considerate to the individuals playing inside of these mega companies. And the game mechanics NEARLY require you to be in a mega company/alliance to be able to play on claimable land at all. So if they ruin lawless then it really will be a sad sad day.

What are pirates most famous for doing? What is the defining act that makes a pirate a pirate? Raiding merchant shipping. Why does this not exist in the game yet? It’s like making a soldier game where your character does PT, cleans the barracks, goes to the firing range, plays poker in the barracks, shines his boots, puts on parade uniform for drill, hits the chow line at the mess hall, fills out paperwork, runs in formation with his platoon or company, but never actually goes into combat. As if this moment especially on pve, that’s what Atlas is. The notion that there are no pve ships to raid along with SOD’s to fight from day one is something I frankly find baffling. People love pirates, but you have left out the one thing that defines the word piracy. Go figure.

Just wanted to chime in here to let you guys know we are actively reading the threads, our discord servers, tweets, reddit posts, etc. We consume feedback from every where and not one place takes a priority over another. Typically we tend to do our big announcement/changes over our Captain's Log, as we're able to funnel people into one location where they can see what we're planning. As for the PvE specific feedback, we are discussing as a team, based on the feedback and suggestions you've provided about our initial proposal and we're open to making changes. So certainly keep it coming as we do appreciate it Edit: Dollie beat me to the punch . I am hoping that we'll be able to share more info with you guys soon, based on what we decide to do but you have all certainly raised some valid concerns over the past few days.
  25. 2 points
We're certainly reading the threads here and taking notes. I've been predominantly communicating through our Official Discord as we gather feedback from players as it's more of a "live" environment where there's a natural flow of conversation. That's not to imply that feedback via Discord is taking priority over feedback posted here, just that I'm less likely to post conversationally here as I read. Thank you for all of your input, guys.

I've been ignoring all those posts that are just freaking out over the wipe. Have to say, though, that if there are great post-wipe benefits, you wouldn't have seen even half those people being upset over it. But if you wipe the servers and then kick the players in the teeth after...that's just bad. And stupid. My guess as to why this is happening, is that someone at Grapeshot is SO enamored of that basic premise they came up with that the game has to be all about who can conquer the most land, that they are unwilling to recognize that this makes no sense for pve, so they are trying to bend every solution to keep that premise. (Which only works if they start with maybe a 30x30 grid and are ready to expand at a moment's notice) Here's my prediction and you can all make fun of me afterward if it's wrong: They wipe the servers and put this new plan in place. People come back in and start racing for land, and pillar the crap out of entire islands and even entire zones to protect their areas. It is going to seem ok at first because of the enormous player number dropoff and the extra islands added, and some people will be all over the forums saying how happy they are. Some people will be seeing the bad results early and be getting walled in, pillar spammed and resource locked, and will complain, and the happy ones will tell them to shut up. That they are just too lazy and don't want to work hard enough to find an island paradise, and that there are completely empty islands everywhere. Two weeks later, many more people will start to become upset, as the companies that previously held 2000 claims are now holding 25 entire grids worth of islands and expanding by annoying people in neighboring grids until they leave. The pillar and foundation spam will thwart anyone trying to build anything beautiful, and everyone not a member of a big strictly controlled company will be living in a place that looks like shanty town after the tsunami hit, and there will be no resources there. No resources means those people can't participate in player vendors, end game content or the new features locked behind it, and they'll get even more unhappy. The devs will highlight "the haves", and their fabulous screenshots of underwater adventures and interesting architecture in exotic and lovely places, and note how successful the player shops are, while the heat level in the forums starts rising again. After two months there will be no land for new players again, the forums will be exploding, the islands will mostly be a mess, and they'll admit they need to rethink how land works on pve. There will be another server wipe, they still won't listen to anyone's suggestions, and will come up with another "iteration", equally silly. Or maybe they'll just ignore it next time, and count on the big companies to carry them through to release day.

The current gateways are a hold over from ARK where we had things like Brontos and other tall dinos. Even the smaller Dinos were tall (Raptors etc) But the creatures of Atlas are not the same as ARK (with a few exceptions) and the gates do not need to be as large. Do you support halving the height of gateways?
  28. 1 point
This demonstrates how low a bar we've set for game developers and how little imagination exists in the player base. If the first thing that comes to mind for pve content in a sandbox game is "scripted content" you're already failing. PvP players get game mechanics designed around pvp. They use these mechanics, like warfare and company structures, to "create their own content". PvP players are never really happy with what they get either. They always want more protections or fewer protections or things balanced differently. Things are never balanced either ,so there's a never ending hunger for THOSE changes. Pve players don't even get mechanics. Most games make a pve server the afterthought. They remove the pvp bit and add no mechanics for pve. If pve had the same amount of underlying mechanics as pvp, those players would also "create their own content" especially in a sandbox. If a developer puts as much time and thought into systems for economics, politics, and trade as they do into warfare, alliances, and pvp rewards, they'd find that not only have they given the pve players limitless things to do, but that the pvp players can use those as well, and make their game much more than pew pew. Oh, and the pve players I know are not playing pve because they can't handle loss. In fact, they'd love something to fight for. What they can't handle is the toxic environment of today's pvp games, the demands that some pvp games make that are over and above what working adults can give, the constant arguments between pvpers about who killed who and why and the inevitable d^*k waving that follows. The mind-numbing idiotic lack of reasoning behind the conflict, with nothing more than "I'm a pirate so I kill everybody". Not fun. Not our thing. So if you want to talk about pve players and pve content, a better knowledge of the subject and a hell of a lot more imagination would help.

One type of server is the answer. But not PvP and not PvE. It needs both. The world is large. It needs colonised areas that provide an element of safety for those that desire it. Surrounding that there should be open treacherous water. Different area of the world need to be rich in different resources. It needs to be harder to learn everything. People need skills that make them valuable to the population of the game. The world needs to be designed in a way that people need to either travel or purchase items that cannot be located in their region. There needs to be different level of items. It should be possible to create basic stuff. But advanced stuff should require trade or travel. These things will create economy. The need to travel/trade will create PvP opportunities. This in turn will generate PvP for the PvPers and purpose for the PvEers. Both will obtain objective. Piracy will create bounties Bounties will generate PvP. Before you know it... we have a living breathing world. A game that creates game play opportunities Trade merchants will buy low and sell high. Gatherers will gather and sell. Captains and crew will transport items. Pirates will chase trade ships. Merchants will try to outsmart the pirates. Pirates will try to outsmart the merchants. Alliances will form. Meta game will develop. There will conflict, back-stabbing, alliances. Before you know it people will be having fun.

While I don't have an issue with Whales or killing them/ hunting them and their Mechanics. I do have an issue with how fast they tend to get eaten by sharks after they die. Many times i loose loot and chances to harvest for the tiny amount of Blubber they give due to this happening. In the time it takes to get anywhere near them so you don't get eaten by said sharks the body has since disappeared and with it your visual on were your loot is in the giant roiling Ocean.

I disagree I think allot of people think this dev team is incompetent. And asking about a set date for a wipe from a team that cannot keep any dates is fruitless. But hey thanks for your worthless opinion about my worthless opinion. Cheers...

Well, they could pull some date out of their arse for you, but since they consistently miss their own target dates what would be the point? If it would make you feel better though I'll give you one: April 12th. That is totally 100% maybe probably the day it's going to happen. Possibly. Or early May. Then again things happen. Soooo looking more like late June. I hope this helps!

My single biggest issue is spamming. Flag spamming, then foundation & shipyard spam in lawless. There isn't a solution for either. Will have to see what happens post update / during beta. Also on any island I visited, lawless and claimed land equally, people were just trolling others and building over treasure spawn points, and hutting off metal nodes. One company walled off an entire portion of island, no way in. I think when people behave like that, it's not the games fault, it's the games problem. We're not kindergarten kids, we know what is, and not in the spirit of the game, so why do people act like buffoons? You answer that and you have the solution.

It's frustrating that most of us really enjoy the game despite the bugs that have plagued us. The claim system is a brilliant idea that gives players a sense of safety and ownership along with a entirely new layer of trade and commerce. Many of those who joined the game later from EA launch felt frustrated that land was difficult to obtain and yes that push us away, but didn't stop us from wanting land of our own. Now that claims are announced as being abolished after the wipe those who never had land will not get it or have the same sense of ownership. I had pride in my land claim and that pride drove me to build beautifully. Land ownership is more than functional. It's a catalyst that will raise the aesthetics of the game. Without that pride people will build functionally. You can bet to see Borg cubes on every beach. Returning to the frustration, we the players know that a reduction in available claims or limitations per server per player are a sure fired way to solve this. I feel like there's a language barrier between the populous and the development team. That's what's making us shout all the louder.

I noticed some of the Map date is actually stored locally, have you tried asking one of your friends to send you the contents of "Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ATLAS\ShooterGame\Saved" folder. I know I had a similar problem when I did a full reinstall of the game but I had the folder on the previous disk so I copied and it helped.
  44. 1 point
No, but the people who are on the forums are some of the most invested players, with the most time in the game. Part of the problem with the polls is that pretty much every one of them is set up with the questions tying the wipe and flag claim system together, you can't agree with the wipe, but disagree with lawless for all, the way people have worded the questions. We know you didn't like the claim system, because you couldn't find any land. How are you going to feel when you find a choice spot in tropical, start building a base, get a couple foundations laid down, and someone comes along and pillars all 4 side as close as possible to your base so your planned 10x10 house, with detached animal pen and separate garden is now limited to a 6x6 area total because you can't build any closer to their pillars? You forgot to mention that after the first week or two, there will be abandoned ships everywhere, since they still haven't mentioned anything about a fix for them.
  45. 1 point
Yeah.... Just look at PvE on Ark. They've never bothered to help people who've been boxed in, walled in, walled out, foundation or pillar bombed. They don't care about PvE, and thats really damn sad. Why even offer it if you're not going to care about the people who choose to play that style? I just don't know. I'll tell you this much though... as of right now I'm bored as hell. I don't own a lot of games. I can't afford them. So I'm sitting here wondering what to do with my time, because there is no point in doing anything on officials since they're just gonna wipe it all anyway, and I'm skiddish about going to unofficial because I've heard a lot of people say they started on one, was getting pretty built up, only for the server to vanish because the owner didn't/couldn't afford to pay the bill. The Devs need to go ahead and do their wipe/update so those of us morons who are actually willing to try the new system out on officials (and prove their decisions in this are wrong!) can get on with it. The longer they leave it all in limbo like this, the more people will be gone permanently.
  46. 1 point
The issue is that trying and failing will 100% necessitate another wipe. That's what people are trying to avoid as much as possible. The majority of the playerbase understands the reasoning for this wipe, but it still sucks to lose everything. What we don't want, is to go and build up again, fighting griefers all the way, just to be told 'Oh, you guys were right, this idea didn't work for the exact reasons you outlined hundreds of times when we told you about it...we're going to a different system, but to do it, we gotta wipe again." Wiping once because they underestimated (or overestimated) their playerbase and their own ability to combat griefing/dupeing/hacking is understandable. Completely ignoring the wishes of their playerbase, seeing the worst brought out in people, and having to wipe again because in their hubris they thought they knew better than the combined millions of hours of experience of their players is not.

I lived on lawless for most of the game so far, and it was terrible, especially after they reduced the buffer. People would just slap down ugly stuff 4 tiles away from you until you could barely get through to your spot. They built shipyards that blocked the whole inner harbor and everyone in it. They walled off whole sections of the island, resources, etc. And the people with claims would come there, set up a few bits of ugly crap so they could get back easily with no regard for the people actually trying to have a base there. The reason I asked him the question though, was because he was talking about people leaving the game because they couldn't find claims, so I'm guess they didn't like lawless. Well, the new change makes everything just like lawless..and he seems to be happy about that, which is odd.

Pretty much, lawless can be bad for it but Imagine what it will be like when you can spam them EVERYWHERE. Heck I don't like my neighbour, time to pillar in his boats. The trolling is gonna be crazy just like Ark

i'm really NOT unhappy about the game, i love it, YES they have a lot of Feature not finished, incomplet, or uninteresting, for me the only way to make the game better it's to work with the Dev by Sugestions, and respectfull advice. it's NOT because we think Dev's Dont Respect us we need to be Rude with them. YES i'm a Carebear deal with it !
