I'd like to see fast travel removed. Make it so you can only spawn on a bed in the zone you are in. Mega tribes own all this land and majority of it is empty. They are able to defend empty land because they can port from where ever they are in seconds and be there to defend. Remove that, you remove the amount of land any tribe can own and it would, in my mind, let the little guy have claim and be able to hold it.

Why is it that PVP players have the need to talk shit about the PVE players and blame mechanics that no one likes on them? There have been just as many nerfs that were because of PVP mechanics. I'm relatively sure that PVE players didn't ask for flame arrows to get nerfed to uselessness against alphas, didn't ask for guns to get nerfed to the point of requiring a minimum of 2 blunderbuss shots to kill any animal bigger than a chicken, we didn't ask for stone walls cost more, and be weaker so I didn't have to spend as much mats shooting cannonballs at an empty fortress to crack it open and feast on the goo inside, didn't ask for tames to be nerfed because it was too hard to kill them when people used them to attack us. I can't think of any PVE players that said "Hey, you know what we need? Some stupid quest to drive a boat to a random sector, and spawn on a bed when this magic glowy bit is there, then lag our way into a cave and click on a thing after dying to everything outside a couple (dozen times)...its a mechanic thats damn near universally hated. Don't you put that evil on us, Ricky Bobby. Who cares if PVE just wants to build and socialize and trade? It rarely effects the PVP side - it happens a helluva lot more in reverse, although I will give GSG credit for starting to try to make PVE or PVP specific changes. The majority of the complaints of people on both sides are the same, with the exception of realistically 1 thing each. PVP - Offline Raiding/Getting Eaten by Megas. PVE - Lack of claimable land. Neither of those PVE/PVP specific issues really effects the other. PVE doesn't have to worry about offline raiding (except for people abusing game mechanics) and PVP doesn't worry about land, because you can just take it. Worry about suggesting solutions, or even just voicing your opinion about the mechanic instead of blaming each others sides. It adds nothing, and further divides what is already a pretty divided community.

It is NOT the PvE Crowd that is shouting the most, I have to say the PvP is screaming louder. But that doesn't matter, everyone as a collective wants changes made for a better game play, it's that simple. Stop trying to make a divide between PvE and PvP players and let's stand as a whole and try to get things changed for the better.

Its just a cross-promotion that Grapeshot Games has going on with the new Dumbo movie coming out. Next stage is we get to play while completely hammered and seeing pink elephants, with racist crows yelling at us the whole time.

Hey. Has anyone seen drake on H6? 2 days flying on gliders, walked around the entire island but never found it.

Once upon a time, @Jatheish responded to one of my threads and said he was considering what he called "a wall of shame" that would basically put on public display anyone who was banned from the game for cheating/using exploits. It would seem that he's been a bit busy or he's still undecided as to whether this is a good idea or not. Also, one of the things I've been curious about is some really far-out claims that Grapeshot is not banning any Chinese. Since I don't have the same tough decisions to make that Jat does, and curiosity killed the cat, I decided to do it myself and see of any if those claims were true. I got bored today and decided to write a quick WordPress plugin and slap it on one of my test sites. Basically, it grabs the steam ID's from the Atlas banlist here: http://atlasdedicated.com/pc/banlist.txt It then polls the Steam API and grabs various bits of info about that steam ID including game bans and stuffs it into a MySQL database. Some really interesting info popped up. Pay particular attention to the date the account was created. If it says 1970 then Steam didn't return a creation date. Many accounts are pretty new. The other thing to take a look at is 'last logoff.' I'm not positive of what this date/time represents but I'm going to guess it's the last time the Steam client was shut down. No info on when the last time it was started is available. And surprise... many of the names are Chinese. And I think I saw some Japanese and Korean names. A lot of the names... as you'd expect are simply 123. http://www.twistedvoid.com/the-atlas-public-stockade/ Take note, I ran this earlier today so that data is cached until the next time I run it. For now, I have no real plans to do anything with this unless you guys would like to have this in a more permanent home.

A good portion of the griefers are people who are bored with the game, but just play because they have nothing better to do. They show how pissed off they are by making other people more miserable while playing, than they are. If they're not having fun while playing, then no one gets to have fun, damn it! They essentially see how far they can go, and how many people they screw with, before, and if, they do get banned. Once they're banned, they move on to something else, and it doesn't bother them because, in their mind, 'the game sucked anyway'

He didnt say quit, he stated the game might be more enjoyable to them once they get a chance to balancing out the content. I personally think the developpers are doing a fantastic job and have accomplished a great deal since they launched the game. They still have a lit of work ahead of them and I am sure they will find a way to balance everything out in the end.

Laugh all you want. In 2004 I paid $50 for City of Heroes, my first online game. In 06 I bought their city of villains expansion for the same price. For six years I paid the $15 dollar a month sub. That’s somewhere around 1200 bucks all in for what amounted to literally thousands of hours of entertainment. A decade later it’s still some of the best money I ever spent and would spend it again in a heartbeat. People who get hundreds of hours out of a game they paid 50 bucks or less for and then bitch about it are not remotely fairly comparing it to other forms of entertainment. Go buy enough movie tickets to watch 1200 hours of movies at 2 hours a pop or hell even compare what your Netflix or Hulu sub costs per month to a game and then tell me you’re being ripped off. Its whiny entitled bs to do so.

I am right there with you. I’m not broke. I would happily pay a subscription fee or buy cash shop cosmetics (“Arrrr that’s a lovely dress ye be sporting there matey. Really brings out the color of yer eye patch.”) to suppport a game I enjoy. I realize not everyone is in the same boat, but if I get hundreds of hours of entertainment from a game and can afford more than the $25 or $30 price tag, spending more to support the people who made the game and help keep it going so others can also enjoy it is a no brainer for me.

you want fast travel removed BUT LEFT on boats ? u need to make your mind up as if its not removed on boats then all that happens is boats will be placed all over map even more so than they are now , make your mind up and stick to it ,it cant be removed but left on boats , it cant be removed and left to choose spawn on death , its either in or out , fast travel needs to stay for players to be able to fast travel to their vatious outposts instead of spending 100's of tedious noring hours sailing from grid 1 to grid 15

I build a schooner out of legendary planks and decks with mythical sails and cannons. Because this ship is not some ordinary common ship, it should be capable of higher levels. A fine ship should be able to get a few more levels than a common, then journeyman higher than fine, etc. Maybe give point scores to ship pieces, and as the score goes up, so does the level cap. Kinda like discovery points.

Bear: I agree that bears should be able to gather honey it's what bears do. HEY HEY BOO BOO and all that Chicken: Chickens could maybe help with garden with scratching being able to work as tilling and their poop as fertalizer while placed on a crop plot. Cow: ok but wish could put a saddle on it also. Bull: could gather thatch much better Crow: seems ok atm Razortooth : no comment atm Shieldhorn: no comment atm Elephant: The elephants tusks get hung up on EVERYTHING please find a way to fix that they can't move when they do this Giant Pig: Maybe make pigs dig up our treasure and give a buff or increase for using them?? Giraffe could gather thatch much better. Horse :Make Passive tame on the horses or make a carrot on a stick to lure them Lion : I like the idea of it being able to grab an animal and move it for u. Monkey : Give a climbing buff or food reduction buff. Ostrich: more hp is all i can think of atm Parrot: Maybe use as a way to find discoveries also allow it to be your eyes or something like that. Penguin: Fix penguins to help with babies I tamed 10 and they didn't help once with bears. Rabbit :Rabbits really should give some buff also, but glad they finally ride on shoulder. Maybe they could help find certain veggies in an area? Or as someone suggested a lucky buff when doing treasure. Rhino: Rhinos should get metal also from rocks like a pickaxe can and better metal from nodes i can mine more with hand than rhino can. Seagull: I loved VEG's idea that seagulls help with fog or someone else's idea of them warning of storm... ..Someone said seagulls to send msgs or bps in this case I love this idea. Can send maps also. Sheep: I loved the ideas others said about it being for fiber which is technically real world what it is. Tiger: not used enought to comment on. Vulture: Vultures could give a buff for killing animals or something. Wolf: Wolves need better stam period. Just some of others ideas and some of my own. make it so when you lvl certain aspects of shoulder pets they give a larger buff. Love the idea to make animals ignore gathering certain items like the ankys that got changed on ark. REALLY not animal change wise but you all had the fix for animals falling through the floors on ark please bring it over to here. I'm so tired of demolishing floors to get an animal unstuck. Some animal does need to be better with gathering thatch doesn't matter if giraffe or bull or something new. Breeding please please please infinity PLEASE fix it. Shouldn't have to babysit it past the baby stage a 30+ hour watch is horrible. Something not mentioned but maybe make more NPC's that could maybe help with raising baby's? Help with farming they can sweep decks maybe they can till gardens or milk the cows etc? Please make it where u can tame the animal you should be able to get it's food source within that region if not that island. I agree with those that have said crew should be seperate from tames. Also you have the means to have items go into a bank can we have the same happen when we buy from other players? I'd love to be able to sell from my own land I have a western town set up and would love to have visitors there because hey they might farm while visiting. I would also like to add i'd love to have more premade buildings we can use and be used like forge houses etc.

I have seen the 30 min once in total (and then the timer was off big time), a handful of 10 min timers here and there, but most of the time i only get the "we are now deploying" crap. You would think that in a game where it is so important to log out in a safe spot they would come up with a timer or more consistant messages. Only like pretty much every MMO out there has. Not to mention that 10 minute warnings in a game where sailing takes AGES wasnt very smart to begin with.
  19. 2 points
My problem with the warning, is it would be nice if it kept a counter, or a warning on screen. If you log in after the warning, or get up for 2 minutes to hit the bathroom or grab a drink, or even tab over to check something in another window, while the warning pops up, you have no idea that its gonna happen.

Not getting into the claiming system discussion here (which I by the way like in it's targeted concept), though it's a topic of it's own. Removing fast travel / limit spawn options per zone would indeed though reduce a lot problems caused by mega companies, so I disagree: I've played in both a company of 80 to 100 active people at launch and then since a few weeks with 5 friends as a small company because I wanted a change. As a mega company all we did was claim as many islands as possible in different grids, not even necessarily connected. If we got raided --> 30 ppl spawn in beds next to gear boxes - no smaller company stands a chance. Same for raiding. In the beginning we were still sailing pirate style, fully geared with 10 people per ship through 4 zones waiting to arrive at the raid. Later on, more or less one guy sailed a boat with 30 boxes full of gear there and at 9pm everyone spawned in, dropping their treasure hunts or farming mats runs on the other end of the Atlas map and annihilated some poor sod after fast travelling and gear equipping again). From the perspective of a small company and from the game experience that I would personally want for this game, I have to say: THIS IS NOT FAIR nor the way it should be. This shouldnt be CS GO where you log in for 10 min of annihilating someone's base, weeks worth of farming, simply because you can, or better said your 100 buddies can, because you gain an unfair advantage over ppl without the numbers. As of now you (devs) didn't create a system where the amount of land equals the amount of force you need to have to "colonize it" and defend it, but where having the bigger stick - even by an inch - means you can have everything and the rest of the playerbase scraps. My solution / suggestion: In the other thread about this topic, it was proposed (as mentioned above) to remove fast travel, limit it to spawning to the same zone (no matter if ship or land bed) AND a "home" bed / zone of your choosing if you die in your current zone without anymore beds (cause they get destroyed or whatever). This would mean you actually need to travel (sail!) over grids to get somewhere - this is an exploration game with combat, not CS or PUBG, so for 10 min drop in action go play something else. This would mean you can't respawn on the next ship of your mega company in the adjacent 20 zones when yours got sunk but "home" - which is imo how it should be. This would solve overblown landclaims and help reduce "empty" territory claims. Large companies still will have their several or even dozen islands, but need to spread out their memberbase over them to govern and defend them, as well considering attacks more wisely, as you might leave your many claims undefended and can't just jump back and forth with all your available members. [Edited for typos]

Haha, I can remember my first gally that lost the most highest plank of all to a red SoTD and I was really surprised I was sinking. It’s so stupid. It should be about aim and when you aim low, you get the best result for a quick sink. As for the balance, make it that planks define your ships health. Meaning there is no real advantage to having only low planks because I’m pretty sure when they would introduce that you only sink with planks below sea level, people will leave spots open to make some creative designs.

seagul- reveal more fog of war in open seas and maybe show trails of the ships ? vulture- show health of every living thing around you? bull- carry more weight -giraffe gather more thatch -bear should be able to gather honey and please add ignore item list to the animal inventory like in the bank and more agressive options to animals like : attack only players and tamed creatures. i want animals protect my base not to chase a seagul to the open seas

Thank you for the x3 tame for the short time. We got 2 elephants it greatly helped out our huge company of 2! Someone posted using the bear to help, and some said armor helps too. My friend was the feeder and did still die a lot but it was double. Not tomorrow the great schooner journey 2 map squares south to the elephants home. We're hopping to breed for our other neighbors (company of 2 also), and give them the offspring. I don't know if you read my small idea about the large herbivores and making them harder to kill and having to take there offspring in the wild as an alternative to the harsh bolo taming. I not, no big deal keep making a great game.

I have no idea if this works in lawless since there isn't technically a claim flag to contest, but it's worth a try at least. Put an NPC, Larder, and Ship Resource box in your house and see if they will keep the demolish timer refreshed. You need food in the larder and gold in the resource box to last your vacation (also NPC with leveled up stomach is best).

Remove or limit fast travel, DON'T fix the claim system or avoid big companies to have more land. Fast travel it's the only way that small companies and lonely-wolf players have to travel, explore, gather resources and more from a huge distance. For example, it cost me a lot to sail across 6 or 7 servers with my sloop, to find ONE spot in a different lawless zones, to build a 4x4 base, and gather resources that i don't have in my other base. So, eventually, i'm gathering resources in one zone, and then, save all those resources, go to fast travel to the other base, gather different resources, and took my sloop and sail back to my other base. I save 1 journey, and like 2 hours of saling simulator. So, Next idea please.

Lets face it, Galleons and Brigantines are huge, and we like building our fancy piers and docks and parking our ships next to them. Unfortunately, with many islands, the land drops off super deep super fast. So, I got to thinking, why not add a mooring system using the same key that activates anchoring, inspired by another lesser known function, the map key. Did you know, when you double-tap M, it brings up only the compass, and when you press and hold M, it brings up only the map? This function tells me that it's possible to use a single key for multiple functions based on how it is used. This said... The mooring system would involve two craftable parts: A ship-mounted mooring rope (similar to how dinghy and diving apparatus is mounted) and a building-mounted set of mooring posts. You place these mounting posts on your pier, similar to how a wall will snap, and then build the mooring rope on the side of a ship. When your ships mooring rope is near a mooring post, you'll see an icon on the right, similar to how the anchor icon pops up. When it's lit, press and hold X (the anchor key), and the ship will begin a 10-15 second mooring animation while the mooring rope is tossed several times over the mooring posts, slowly tightening until the mooring process is complete, and freezing the ship into place as if it had anchored next to the pier. This process would allow ships to moor to a pier when the water is too deep for anchoring, and can help easily organize the space in a company's large pier by using the docking space efficiently.

How would they implement this very vague idea? How could you calculate it from various random building parts? It's surprising how many folks on this forum seem to have no understanding of game design when they give these kind of suggestions.

Just found yet another game breaking bug. I was climbing my own stone tower to paint it after all my hard work making it, I just randomly died for no reason while climbing picking up. My body is NOWHERE to be found, not even a green light left behind. I just lost my maxed out Legendary Carbine and Fur Armor..... I just wasted a week of gathering resources to make a single fucking leg carbine and leg fur armor set to lose it due to game breaking bugs, that you guys refuse to address, or refund items. Because you refuse to properly fund a sizeable enough team to properly address customer service and bug patches in a timely manner. If BP's didn't revolve around complete RNG and a grindy unfun material drain... It would be a different story... If someone had killed me in PvP and took it, then fine, so be it... But a fucking bug with climbing picks on my own buildings.... I'm sorry no! @Jatheish Not that ANYONE on the dev team actually cares, which was made clear on my post yesterday. Why bother putting in a ticket, when it takes 3+ weeks to get an answer. Then wonder why player numbers went from 60,000+ to less than 13,000 now.

I don't mind the mechanic. It is definitely not fleshed out. When it first dropped I dreaded the idea of going to a power stone island and getting inside... And mind you it was pretty terrible in actuality. But it only took a couple hours. Afterwards I enjoyed the buffs and was glad I took the time to do it. Definitely an unfinished mechanic though and I think it's fine as is.

@Jatheish As a designer I would scrap how animals are at this point. Currently this game is turning into an Ark expansion. I would decide to stop living in Ark's shadow. Currently I've done all PvE material so my day consists of riding around on a level 70 bear with elephants behind me harvesting X resource with hopes of actually needing blue print weapons to complete the next PvE tier. Currently riding is basically a requirement for things to do effectively either everything else needs to be brought up or beastmastery needs to be brought down. I would change the tree to crew. It would allow you to get animals but the animals would have something they bring to the table and not be rideable. The shoulder mount thing would be fine but cruising around on (current meta tame) is basically Ark. So I now have a blank slate and need to make it so I can get tames. I would want it to be a low chance from mate boosted animals when you harvest their bodies or a high chance from an alpha. Could also put a vendor in the game that sells the babies. So now my players have a baby X. This whole temperature thing currently is silly and the way to fix it going to require a lot of resources from my company (grapeshot) so the cost would be too great to keep this. The concept is cool but the creation and implementation creates a poor user interaction with it so I would scrap it. The concept of feeding animals something special is a good one so I could fill up a bear with honey and it would mature faster or just use berries cause they are easy but longer time until they are grown. So now I have a way for players to get tames so I now need to make them useful. This would be the bottom tiers of the crew tree. Different animals would have a function that fall into combat or utility. For this I would think of how I envision an amazing creature of the type. Bear- Combat- Taunt enemies around the player acting as a tank. Chicken- Utility- When on wander produces eggs Cow- Utility- Produces milk (more on wander) Bull- Utility- when on wander fertilizes nearby crops Crow- Shoulder- When you die acts as a bed. Razortooth- Combat- nerfs alphas. Shieldhorn- Combat- Produces a shield that deflects projectiles. (Currently elementals have little counter play) Elephant- Utility- When on wander collects wood. Giant Pig- Utility- When on wander finds buried items. Giraffe- Utility- When on wander gathers thatch. Horse- Utility- Rideable, pulls carriage and cargo which helps tranports large amounts of people or heavy amounts of resources great distances (we need something that makes unloading a galley not horrible) Lion- Combat- grabs smaller creatures. Monkey- Shoulder- barehanded becomes climbing picks at a much higher stam use rate. Ostrich- Utility- Harvests seeds when on wander. Parrot- Shoulder- Makes musical instruments easier to play and buffs the buff radius. Penguin- shoulder- fortitude buff. Rabbit- Shoulder- When on shoulder provides a movement speed. Rhino- Utility- When on wander gathers stone. Seagull- Shoulder- When on shoulder reduces/removes fog debuff Sheep- Utility- When on wander gathers fiber Tiger- Combat- reduces movement speed of enemies. Vulture- Utility- When on shoulder decreases vitamin depletion. Wolf- Combat- has a howl that increases damage. Turtle- Make tameable- Shoulder- Increase swimspeed, decreases oxygen use, and reduces deep diving debuff. Rattlesnake- Utility- When on wander produces venom, venom is used for anti-venom which reduces torpidity. So now that I have all these super cool animals I need to transport them and the current bug is they fall off (scavenging tames in the ocean is super lucrative I know a guy that got a Razortooth) I would make it so boats have a animal attachment that is basically a cage and when you send the animal to it the animal gets turned into more of an item that is placed inside the cage instead of being on the boat (no more lost at sea tames yay). We now need somewhere to put all these wandering tames. I would make it so tames on wander don't leave your territory. I would also make it so you can apply a filter on the map to see where certain tames are. Now for the meaty part of the new tree. I would make it so NPC's you get from SotD have a type of suffix like Bob. Bob would be a builder. You would need points in crew to hire Bob and then you can put him on a smithy. If you have skills in construction you would be able to make things like stone at a reduced cost. The points in crew would only be to get Bob, the points in construction would make it so you can get the discounted building from Bob. This would make Bob your righthand man when it comes to construction of things. You would still need the recipe to make it though. So getting NPC's and keeping them alive would have benefits beyond "I need guys on my sails" which you would want to keep around because sailor NPC's would make your sails better. This would lead into reworks of the other skill trees, I would make farming capable of making the large crop plots grow fiber, thatch, and wood that the NPC's can harvest at a drastically reduced rate. The rate they harvest can be modified by giving them higher end tools. Artillery tree would also get access to alchemists that can be put on a mortar and pestle that will make it so you can stack unlimited resources inside it and queue up organic paste for more than 220 at a time... it would also make it faster to give the QoL that is missing from the chemistry station. I could keep talking about how I would change it but the TL:DR is make animals more companion rather than a requirement but still have meaning. Make NPC's more than a parasite when you arn't sailing. As a designer I would change a lot of things but for creatures this is what I would do. ~Lotus

Hello, Those past three days, we have been visiting Castois Island in H6 of the official EU PvP server and couldn't find it so we concluded that its respawn seems bugged even after server restarts or it has been kitted far away from the island. We have been in the ancient city and all over the island running naked, using gliders, climbing over mountains and we can not find it. Could a GM check it out and report back if its spawn is or isn't bugged please? Seems hard to believe that we just didn't spot a giant dragon for several hours of hunt.

tools should be superior to animals at higher quality, and I'm fairly certain they are at mythic. Your paradigm for pve is clearly not relevant to my statement as I've been talking about warfare and combat. Keep your tames at 1000% health on pve, who cares. Its uninteresting for pvp.
  41. 1 point
Yes but there’s a difference in people spawning there and people going there. Spawning there, lots of people make a ship or whatever and decide to leave or don’t have the time to continue. Living somewhere else and going back to a freeport should atleast ring a huge bell that stuff is different there. That’s what I was referring to. That said, it’s been 2 months since I saw the welcome message so I don’t know it is displayed in there, if it is not, they could add that in for the new peeps.

    - Add an extra Option Menu to animals for farming: for example for elephants -> only farm wood so you can deactivated farming berrys and other stuff you won't farm at the moment - giraffe needs a second 2x buff for gather thatch

As for the trade routes, I’m all up for any kind of trading so let’s do it.

I'm pretty sure there would be a way larger community still playing it if the access to (bigger) unofficial maps would be better. 10 euros per month for one 10 player grid.. Sure you can connect them together but find people that are into that. For me, it would be extremely fun to create an unofficial 225 grid map with some sort of community so we can all play atlas without any problems. I'm playing official for 300 hours now, best friend of mine has 180 or something like that on unofficial and he hasn't encountered maybe 25% of the bugs and glitches I did. Unofficial would've stopped (slow down) the drop but then again, it's poorly designed. I understand it, but it's a real shame.
  48. 1 point
Never said that though. I’m saying ARK had a shitty EA time too. Same as this one, it feels like an exact repeat.
  49. 1 point
And that's where the split is between small groups and large groups. I'm in a large group, but I only play with 6 other people in that group. We don't want this game to be easy just like ARK was. ARK was and is, extremely easy. We finally have a game where it can be hard to achieve certain goals, and all I've seen in the last month is the game made easier for the sake of small groups. Don't get me wrong, we're fine with it. But come on.. The devs also need to stay put if it comes to their original ideas for the game. The animal nerf was necessarily, but within no time there were many PvE builders here that cried the shit out of it, making the patch go in reverse. Now everyone is complaining the animals are way too OP, also in raids. With Atlas, just like with ARK - Everything will never be good.
  50. 1 point
You’re surprised there isn’t tons of content available 2 years prior to launch? Some good points here though. Not all.
