Hope you're having a great day I know this is already on the grapeshot list of things to be discussed but it's becoming more and more of a problem everyday on our server and I'm desperate to get a .ini configuration. I see it being done in up to three different ways: Limit total number of claims per person (Probably not) Limit total number of claims per tribe per cluster (a fix we can work with) Limit total number of claims per tribe per region (this would be awesome) Thank you for everything you do!

https://imgur.com/a/3ipWkTo 8000+ pieces to build this so far and lots more planned. Please add more types of building blocks like triangle pieces that are half of a square and anything else. Very limiting currently but still fun, this is only a small portion of the total build. Day time shots: https://imgur.com/a/a79Wy6C

Heyas Grapeshot, FUCK YOU!!! I am no longer wasting any time promoting this game and trying to stir up interest as you have repeatedly shit on your fans. First, you have a freaking debuff for being 100years old but made the process to remove that enforced debuff a fucking joke of a quest to try and complete, so I am forced now to just accept that debuff. Thanks, assholes! Second, you decided to make it where there is no real adequate protection against ship sinking griefers, so I never can have a ship to experience the ocean-related side of the game. Third, the last and final straw was to make stone harder to craft and at the very same time you made stone much easier to destroy. As a direct result, I was utterly destroyed. All FOUR of my honeycombed, three-layered bases were all destroyed by the same company. So ya know what, I am just gonna go back to ARK. At least I know I will get butt-raped there but it will have lots of great and fun features to distract me the whole way. Screw you and your crappy game!

cant we just use our crew members instead? or at least reduce the need for tames so the people who dont want them dont get crippled by not using them

hi, If you dont like tame dont use it, stop playing this game and stop asking to stop some features that others players enjoy. i am tired of people ask to stop this or stop that because they dont like it, if you dont like it just dont use it. Or may be try to say why and what do yout want to change on it, will be more pleasant to read. it easier and faster.

They've had time to test out alot of things so far and now everywhere is packed with structures and ships so I would not mind a server wipe. Yes alot of people have built structures and ships including myself but that's part of the game, a server wipe would be welcome in my eyes. I know you're always going to get the kids crying they've lost everything but it's early access, we should know this. I don't mind building everything up again, it will be faster the next time as we all know how to play and what skills we need etc. In game needs clearing up anyway, to many ships abandoned and buildings, let new players coming to the game have a fair game to start off.

Lets face it, Galleons and Brigantines are huge, and we like building our fancy piers and docks and parking our ships next to them. Unfortunately, with many islands, the land drops off super deep super fast. So, I got to thinking, why not add a mooring system using the same key that activates anchoring, inspired by another lesser known function, the map key. Did you know, when you double-tap M, it brings up only the compass, and when you press and hold M, it brings up only the map? This function tells me that it's possible to use a single key for multiple functions based on how it is used. This said... The mooring system would involve two craftable parts: A ship-mounted mooring rope (similar to how dinghy and diving apparatus is mounted) and a building-mounted set of mooring posts. You place these mounting posts on your pier, similar to how a wall will snap, and then build the mooring rope on the side of a ship. When your ships mooring rope is near a mooring post, you'll see an icon on the right, similar to how the anchor icon pops up. When it's lit, press and hold X (the anchor key), and the ship will begin a 10-15 second mooring animation while the mooring rope is tossed several times over the mooring posts, slowly tightening until the mooring process is complete, and freezing the ship into place as if it had anchored next to the pier. This process would allow ships to moor to a pier when the water is too deep for anchoring, and can help easily organize the space in a company's large pier by using the docking space efficiently.

Right, so a friend of mine was kind enough to hook me up with a copy of this game and I've got some initial thoughts and ideas. Firstly, the fact you can overdose on vitamins. Humans, and most animals, have a great system for dealing with extra vitamins and stuff that ain't supposed to be in there, the kidneys and liver. Every time you take a leak you're removing all the extra stuff your body can't use. If you overdo it on a vitamin, you just end up with it in the toilet, literally. Secondly, the lateen sail and steering oars. These are some VERY basic technologies that have been extant throughout human history in smaller vessels (look at Egyptian fishing vessels from about 50 BCE onward if memory serves). Steering oars were the precursors of the rudder, your dead balls basic pram or raft can easily be steered using a board or oar as a rudder, if you don't have a daggerboard or centerboard the wind will blow you off course, but generally it's manageable (I've been sailing all manner of vessels since I was 7 or so, briefly crewed for some race boats and met a couple of guys who sailed in the olympics too, I like sailing IRL and miss it). Overall I think the game is good-ish, but the vitamin OD thing is dumb as a bag of hammers. My gripes about the sailing system aren't really going to break the game, but I fear there is a knowledge gap between the guys that developed the game and what the real boats do and have done. What are your thoughts? Gripes?

Can you please fix Cobras so that they cant slither through roofs, or walls, or rail walls? They can pretty much slither through anything right now and its ridiculous. Please change them. Thanks.

i belong to a 2 person tribe.. We bought the game day one. we worked our ass off fighting with peopel in PVE to keep the land we wanted safe. Why should i loose all my hard work for peopel that didnt bother investing any time or effort over the last month? your basically saying that people like me that have spent the time in here dealing with the bugs and the griefers and learning and building the wiki the hard way around should loose everything and start over cause new people coming into the game now, or cause people are finally ready to leave lawless and come get a claim?? They have made systems to allow them to play just the same and there are plenty of peopel here that are using that system to allow them to play jsut the same... There wont be any server wipes to appease these people. Gold is easy.. our tribe has 2 schooner, 2 brigs and a gally all crewed. totalling 38 crew.. takes us doing 3-5 blue maps a week and we have enough gold for all of our crew.

I'm....impressed...? Yeah, thats a new one for me, and I thought I've managed to screw up driving a ship every possible way. I did the wedge a raft about 40 feet into a shoreline thing the first week, too. Well, people are always wanting to build their base and live on their ship. Now you can, and not have to worry about sinking.

None of the store page indicates that. It indicates this is an online MMO and that it is in Early Access so things will change and the store page will probably also be finished out more once the game is actually done(in 2 Years). It is entirely possible that they will add a Single Player game mode, but that has not been promised and can be removed at any point in the process should they decide it's not worth the time.

They need to implement "maintenance" cost for claims AND buildings (having crew repairing buildings and "feeding" flags). Else is really easy to keep large bases and a lot of flags. Depending on number of flags, upkeep should be exponentially more expensive (in gold?). If I want to have solo 50 flags I should be ready to upkeep them ALL, not just by visiting them and resetting the upkeep timer... Flags that were lost due to upkeep should loose protection timer and be claimable in less than 1hr. This system could regulate lawless areas too. People who are spamming foundations, shipyards would have to pay for repairs by farming and having crew repairing. Edit: if you want to have a xy flags for zz days you should have xxxxxx amount of gold ready in locker (timers would then change according to that available gold). NO wipe would then be necessary. And gold would have meaning. And flag owners will be forced to release flags or manage them and get tenants.

I am a solo player and am having a lot of trouble finding the right strategy to get loot back up from shipwrecks. While sharks are annoying, if you have a ton of bows, you can just shoot at him until you die, get a new bow and some more arrows and repeat. Might take three lives, but you'll get him eventually. Strong Arm certainly helps. Although if there are a lot of sharks between you and the wreck, this is going to take a while. Melee is a maybe, if you are in armor (thus not deep sea diving, which removes your armor). But who wants to have to bring multiple suits of armor so you can re-equip and dive again and again? But electric eels are just not beatable. They are fast faster than you in swimming and have a massive aggro range, so even luring them away from your ship the small distance you can make before they kill you doesn't help. Because you can't get them far enough away from your ship to not aggro on a deep sea diver. Arrows don't make much headway. You can't melee because they stun you. And they tend to come in packs of 2-4 eels. At least you can outswim jelly fish and kill them with a bow. Assuming nothing else is lurking around. My concern here is that the underwater spawns seem tuned for ARK, which has tames and mounts. And at least in ARK you have a more powerful (if very expensive) missile weapon to use underwater, the speargun. Even the crossbow would be better than the bow in Atlas. And tuned in both toughness, but also quantity. It is a bit overwhelming for a solo player to want to recover the blueprints from their wreck to have, between their schooner and the wreck (currently) 4 sharks, 3 eels, one sperm whale, and near the bottom an anglerfish I have to dodge by hiding inside the wreck. I've only made one success trip from the bottom to the surface, and that required a recovering mission to get that death cache before the timer ran out. Other attempts failed in to get those death caches all the way to the surface (damn eels). If this is the case, I fear what will happen with these undersea trenches. If we can't fight a shark, how are we supposed to fight a giant crab? I don't have three Meglodons and some Ichys to keep it busy while i shoot at it with a speargun. So, am I missing a strategy here? Am I supposed to max out melee or something to make these fights work? Because at level 52, I don't have many respecs left in this game, which is a problem for solo players.

I claim no accurate knowledge of medicine or pharmacology. I claim extensive experience in gaming. Vitamins in this game, realistic or not, are nothing more than a pain in my royal arse and are not fun!

Don't worry the game will end up being a waste of time for you too. If not today but eventually. Have fun with that. And, you are just able to fling your insults and smart assed comments, merely because I am not where you are or you'd have a black eye right now and no teeth. So have fun why you remain anonymous and from afar dickhead.

This forum is filled with trolls who keep protecting the devs and claim it's the best game since Jebus was born, the money we send to the devs is being used to do damage control here and outside, but it's a game that's bleeding to death and the medics (devs) are doing everything they can to make the wound bigger.

It's too early for a wipe. They need to redesign core mechanics especially claims. Maps should be larger and more diverse. What we have here is a land shortage. If they would limit players to 2 flags we would soon have resources problem and islands would be packed again. Maybe bigger islands + resource intensive claims flag upkeep (like Rust cupboard) ? Penalty in upkeep with every next claim? Most people here want "faster horses" when we could have couple radical changes that would greatly improve this game.

If the SOTD were to randomly come to shore and attack ships that were docked and the players were offline, then that would be pve, if another player lures ships to attack an offline players ships then that is pvp. Do you see the difference? I’m not asking them to dumb down the game, I’m asking that they fix the game mode which I choose to play. I can really believe that you are one of the players that does this type of behavior, I’m not sure what you get from it other then knowing you’ve ruined someone’s day. This is not a sea battle because one person isn’t even online, this is only a attempt to try and make someone so sick that they quit the game and that gives you a chance to claim the area. No one in PVE that is there for pve would behave in this manner, if we chose to fight the SOTD then we are making a choice that could cost us our ships, that is pve. Any player who intentionally tries to do damage to another player or players structure is playing in pvp. Well should be!!! What do you stand to lose when you lure the SOTD into destroy someone else’s stuff vs that person who is losing their stuff, absolutely nothing. You sit in your chair grinning from ear to ear thinking how special you are because you’ve ruined someone’s stuff.
  32. 2 points
I agree that, in pve, we should have to worry about npcs destroying our stuff. But these tactics allow players to destroy my entire fleet while I am not even playing the game. I avoid pvp only because I want to be able to log off and sleep, spend time with family, work, run errands, etc. without constantly worrying about a video game. PVE in any game should allow for me to log off without the risk of losing everything I've built by anything except decay timers.

I dont understand why there are no active admins inside the game that actually check these reports. I mean how much work is it, to have somebody teleport towards the location of a suspected cheating company to check their crates/ships etc. And if there is proof that they cheated, dev demolish everything they have.

I am tired of the name changing. Some groups change their name, build a ship, go raid, and then change their name again. This really ruins what passes for PvP in this game. If somebody raids you, you want to know who it actually was. So here's an idea. I know they aren't likely to take that ability away, so allow us to see a different log...a PvP log. Right now we have just one log, and if somebody is tearing something down to build something else, you soon lose a lot of that log. So instead, have a separate log for PvP actions, and allow that log to update when you view it, or select for it to update. So let's say you are raided by Scurvy Dogs, a week ago, and now you are ready to retaliate, Scurvy Dogs change their name to Rum Bandits...OK, you check the logs, and because the company name associated with the raid is shown by showing the name associated with the company ID the person was in at the time of the raid, they can no longer hide by changing company names. In other words, when the PvP action is done, the system knows the company ID, so that is retained in this line of info, so it can update to the new company name. This info needs to be available for a good while. Why is this important? PvP is more fun when there is a purpose to it. More fun to attack somebody because they attacked you, than just attacking somebody because they just happen to cross paths with you. More fun when the other guy is wearing the black hat.

As the Audio Director of ATLAS I must say... I could not agree with you more! The suffering and tree farming vocalizations are extremely annoying. They are not playing as I intended. I’ve asked our programmers to fix these bugs since the game’s release but sound is generally last on their priority list... hopefully soon I can get some help.

Ahoy Pathfinders! Over the past week, the crew have been engaged in deep discussion over our core design and philosophy of the game. We’ll be making changes based on your feedback and our internal reviews over the past 5 weeks. This Captain’s Log is going to go take a high-level look at our plans going forward! the Golden Age of Piracy! We recognize that the game has a lot of fun mechanics and gameplay that players enjoy, especially when you can live out your dreams of being a pirate. However, the feedback we often receive is that it’s too tailored to large companies, alpha groups, and hardcore players. A large number of you have expressed that you are unable to make enough progress to reach this stage of the game, due to our hardcore design. Our thinking going forward, with the community’s help and feedback, we plan to make the game less punishing and reduce the steep climb required for players to reach the parts of the game which make it special. This means we’re going to be changing core systems to ensure that those who do not have as much time to invest or play in small groups or as solo players are still able to experience the highs seas of ATLAS. For those of you in large companies, worry not, as you are still a fundamental part of our design and key to the game’s vision. We believe there are changes we can make which will make the game more immediately accessible for everyone and overall more enjoyable, without detracting from the heights that large and dedicated groups of players can achieve. All players will be able to experience the best parts of this humongous shared persistent world, whether you’re a solo player, a small group, a large company, or a multi-company alliance. Some of our design changes will revolve around: Allowing players to experience the ‘piracy’ side of the game immediately, whilst not trivializing the content. Making sure that solo players and smaller groups feel safer when logging off, or that after they’ve taken a break they can come back and know that it won’t be such a difficult feat to get out on the seas again. Incentivize companies to neutralize their territories, inviting others to make use of their land so that both can benefit. More MMO aspects: player markets, player-specified automatic trade routes, additional quests, and daily missions and we'll be continuing as always with: Continuous focus on bug/exploit squashing, stability, and performance. Relevant QOL and Content additions to meet game and community needs We plan to have our first real serious round of adjustments with this philosophical change in mind around March (as we’re already well into preparing the February content update so that’ll proceed with some changes), and this will continue relentlessly going forward. patch galore! Complete Patch Notes Between now and February’s Mega update, you’ll see a number of patches which will help improve various aspects of the game based on your feedback. V17 - ETA: LATE FEBRUARY The update has had some slight changes to make it more aligned with our goals. Some aspects of the update remain as we see them as a necessity for the team to develop and understand core elements, such as the underwater experience with trenches and the submarine. Additionally, some content creation has been well underway for some time, and it isn’t the most efficient move to scrap them! However, the Mega March update and the ones to follow will focus more on our core design changes. Planned Patch Notes: New Features and Content - New Feature: Daily Missions for players with unique and powerful rewards - New Feature: 7 more ‘Main Quests’ which upon successful completion will provide their own unique Skill unlock - New Structure: Guillotine. Hanging your foes in a noose taking too long? Off with their heads! - New Feature: Curses. Tied to the execution of players - New Creature: Giant Crab. It can carry heavy loads, along with players, tames and wild creatures - New Vehicle: Submarine. Explore the depths of the ocean in this small scouting submarine. No weapons on board, but it does have claw arms to help harvest the ocean floor and explore (demolish) shipwrecks - New Structure: Bookshelf. Store and sort your high-quality maps and blueprints. - New Environment: Deep Ocean Trench. A new area to explore, guarded by powerful underwater creatures and home to the new Giant Crab - New Feature: Player shops in freeports. Players can set up automated shops in each Freeport, listing loot for sale and naming their own gold coin prices. - New Cosmetics: Multiple Armor sets to customize the look of your company and crew! Provided as a permanent unlock for completing the Quests in addition to skill rewards. - Ship of the Damned will now come in multiple size variations with different stats and difficulty levels. QOL Changes - Reorganized claim flag notifications, so they no longer clutter up the entire HUD when lots of messages are flying by - Territory map will now display allies as teal-coloured - Character creator now has a Height slider to make it easier to set your character's desired height - Any dead ships (shipwrecks) from your Company appear with a unique icon on your map now, so you can find the wrecks - Global territory message updating - Currently contested claims will be indicated on the minimap - ‘Search Members’ field added to Company UI - Players can now mount a sail to directly control the sail's open/close amount and rotation settings in a more intuitive way. - NPCs will be added to Freeports which will allow players to redesign their character's tattoos for a gold cost And of course, note that these notes below will be a given on a regular basis: - Server and Client performance improvements - Server and Client stability improvements (crash fixing) - Bug fixes & balance changes GPU PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENTS In the coming days, we’ll be releasing a special beta branch which players can opt-into for a minor client-side update which should increase GPU performance by approximately 25%. We’ve been thoroughly testing this internally and it feels like it’s in a good place, however, we would like some feedback from you guys before shipping it live. When the client is available to download, we’ll put up a thread with instructions on how you can download it. You’ll still be able to play on the latest Official Network or the latest Unofficial Servers even if you’re using the beta client! WOOD, STONE, SAP, AND EXPLOSIVES Our initial thought behind the change was that we wanted to buff Wood so that it was closer to Stone in terms of strength, so that early and midgame players would be at less of a disadvantage if they weren’t using stone. Whilst we’re not going to be entirely walking back this change, we think we may have overshot with our changes and as a result will be making some adjustments in an upcoming update. We plan to address the availability of sap and also look at base defence which means possible changes explosives, and other gameplay mechanics encompassing raiding to see where else we want to make adjustments. It’s something we’re still exploring internally but plan to have patched relatively soon. It’s possible that our first round of changes may not be enough, and if so don’t worry, as we’ll continue to adjust as necessary. WILD CREATURES We want to make some adjustments to the power of wild creatures, including on Golden Age Ruin Servers. First of all, we wanted to hone in on the strength of alpha creatures. As of Monday, we released an update which significantly reduced the amount of power that Alpha creatures held, as well as how common they were. Going forward, we’ll be adjusting spawn-weighting across the map for all creatures so that you’ll encounter less giant groups wanting to murder your face. After making those changes, we’ll see where we need to go next but believe it’s a step in the right direction. PVE UPDATES There are some PvE specific changes we want to make as soon as possible. First of all, we want to create two server options, which will be enabled on our Official Network. Sleeping/logged off players will no longer be replicated on any grid (similarly to Freeports). This should improve server and client performance, as well reduce some cases of griefing. Force destruction of any character that hasn’t been logged onto in 3 weeks (2 weeks if it’s a Homeserver). We’ll also be fixing a bug which allowed sleeping characters to contest claims, even if the claim has been inactive, so going forward only logged in characters will be able to contest claims. LINUX SERVERS Not much of an update here, we just want to acknowledge that our engineering team are looking into the major issues reported on Linux Servers and we hope to have these resolved as soon as possible. Thank you all for your feedback and reports, it won’t be long until you’re setting sail on the high seas of your unofficial servers! COMPANY RANKINGS Large companies are very much still a major part of the vision we hold for ATLAS. We believe that being able to conquer and maintain large territories is an important part of the game and we’ll be rewarding those who are able to do so. By this weekend, we’ll have released a patch that does the following: List current top 5 companies in-game on the map (names, soon to be flags) Have a historic archive of companies for when they ruled the ATLAS, using both in-game days and real-life time Special Cosmetic Icons will be given to members of top 5 companies, which can be turned off on a per-user basis Unique Cosmetic Figureheads will be granted to the top 5 companies and will remain persistent as long as the company maintains their ranking within the top 5 ASSETS Resolving the bug which prevents some Company Flags from displaying on playatlas.com! We plan on introducing more features in the future to expand on how influential large companies can be with their territories, as well as additional incentivizes to be a part of the top 5 rankings. We’re toying with the idea of a neutral Company Hall, for the strongest and most influential to hold their diplomatic meetings, whether it’s over trade, peace, love, or war, because we know much you love your large gatherings ;)! Dynamic atlas maps round-up The ATLAS Dynamic Maps is a system that monitors live in-game territory ownership and indicates which companies dominate over the lands. Each week with our Captain’s Log, we’ll be including an image to monitor the progress of the maps, taking note of any exits or new arrivals and any drastic changes in the overall claim. Those who will come to dominate the ATLAS may very well become clear in the days and weeks ahead, though maintaining a large Empire will likely come with its own longer-term challenges… The companies that have occupied islands for a certain period of time will soon gain the automatic privilege to name them on the in-game and web maps, as it is their land! Remember you can don your Company’s company flag by stylizing it in the game with a paintbrush! Upload your own images or design it how you like, with the top company flags always being visible on https://map.playatlas.com/ [EU PVP] The Whale's Wrath Held: French & Ships, Bad Company, ETERNIA, The French Monkeys, IVANARMY, and ENSLAVED. Broiled chicken Sadly, this little McNugget lasted less than an hour. Seems kinda strange to me that these critters appear to breed on our island all on their own yet we can't get them to survive the cold even when we roast them.

You are a really nice person thanks for being so nice I will ask you to remain civil because your attitude and priviledge is outshining your statements and it is viewed poorly how you are handling yourself like a child that has gotten participation trophies their whole life. We offer channels in our discord for people to message members of our community to help give them land. Furthermore we have many companies who have their discord name on their claims so you can message them directly and ask for them to open up land. Did you try any of these avenues? Or did you just decide being lazy (and childish) and blasting on a forum was a better idea? We have very active dedicated hardworking admins and I take offence to you suggesting otherwise. They work around the clock to keep everything running and you have no right nor knowledge to suggest otherwise and your claims are down right offensive. We also offer Mod Mail where users can contact community managers and mods directly and they answer all open tickets promptly. But I assume you decided not to use that either... We will be a better unofficial server without the likes of you based on the way you are handling yourself.

What a coincidence, I’m bringing back a new tamed rhino as we speak. I have also made a taming pen, but I have only fed him behind or as high as his front legs. So never on the face, not sure if that’s the case with this one but I didn’t had any bug the entire tame.

It's a pirate game. the only real measure of a company should be GOLD.
