An emergency maintenance took place at 09:00 AM UTC which resulted in all our Official Servers being brought offline whilst we investigated a technical exploit. As a result of the exploit, our Official NA PVP Network, The Kraken’s Maw, had received a rollback to approximately 05:45 AM UTC specifically as we were able to backtrack precisely when the issue started to occur with our logging system. All other networks were brought back online with no changes. The damage done was caused by a technical exploit which we have now protected against, no administrator accounts were compromised in this situation. We apologize for the inconvenience and we thank for your patience and understanding during this time. In regards to action taken, multiple accounts have been banned in relation to this, by ourselves and BattlEye, though the evidence and our extensive logging indicates that this group does not have any specific ties to any one company, but are instead targeting streamers and large or well-known companies. We will continue our investigation and will take action on all involved accounts and companies when we learn of their involvement immediately. To compensate, we’ll be extending the 2x Bonus Rates until Wednesday. Please be assured that this is a priority for the team and we are working extensively to ensure that it does not occur again. Sincerely, Grapeshot Games

You tried.. It is terrible and unnecessary.. Nobody wants to go looking for a random spawn on a set of islands for their entire existence, please remove this thing that only hinders the game.

They are unable to fix anything properly, people griefing ships because they can pick up more from the ground than they should be able to, well devs fix is let people glitch out on ships that aren't theirs when trying to enter them rather than fixing the real bug being people able to pickup too many items, log out, log back in, only have 250/250 weight until they drop an item or split their stack in their inventory for it to show the real weight again. So now people just hang from ladders on boats who didnt' pull those up and encumber it like that or just toss items on the deck for it to get encumbered. If they made it impossibru for ppl to get overweight in the first place even the ship dropping method would require a lot of players to sink a ship that way cuz the items dissapear rather quick. Their claim that one of their dev's steam accounts got hacked is also a blatent lie, claiming this wouldn't occur again it only was an invitation to cheaters and hackers to show how quick they could fuck up their network once again. Not to forget that there are countless reports from cheaters and hackers being submitted via their ticket system which are going unanswered where these cheaters and hackers are going on with their malpractices until this very day (if servers were up though). Everything they claim to fix they break it even harder, my two examples are just two of them, I bet alot of dissatisfied customers could come up with plenty more stuff. Oh and not to forget their wonderous Fountain of Youth they implemented while about all players in game who have a character since launch are now receiving a very nice age debuff which they can only get removed when they travel to a Golden Age area where all people have to be right now and it only can hold up to 150 players in theory, in practice this wouild mean about 50 players to play it as it's meant to be played. But right now people just have to run through the lagfast that it is naked and hope for the best to reach the magic sparkles at the end of the cave. Same goes for powerstones apparently the much anticipated and praised end game they are trying to fix with each patch while their core game mechanics are broken beyond recognition. How are people supposed to play this game when everything is bugged and we have to find workarounds just to be able to progress in nearly each part of this game rather than playing as intended. Far worse might be the interaction the devs have with this community, far too many people havea already noted and stated that they mostly listen to cringy streamers and crybabies in general rather than looking at these forums and see the daily return of many topics where players are most frustrated about. No they gonna nerf all kinds of stuff cuz some half ass streamer is giving them a bad rep about it on stream. The only thing those devs want is to keep this game look like it's shiny and fun on the streams until they raked in enough of our hard earned cash. Because let's face it, they robbed us from our money to let us play this aggrevating crappy coded "so-called-pirate-mmo". If I wanted to grind my ass of for materials I would have kept playing 7 days to die or would have reinstalled minecraft to have a better experience in harvesting and building stuff without having to fear that none of my work is still there when I log back in. Let's have a look at the two twitters that are posting most of Atlas news and updates, now the official Atlas twitter is probably not into replying anyone at all just for posting update news and patch notes when Needed. Jatheish on the other hand is far more active with giving the community constant updates when shit goes wrong but also keeps posting ETA's that are never and are always late. Even seen people complain once about an ingame server message stating servers will restart or go down in 20 minutes, so players were rushing to a safe haven when on sea or make sure they got inside a house to logout before server goes down, what happens, server goes down only 5 minutes after that message appeared, making alot of players unable to logout safely with all the negativity as a result, players losing just their gear and die once ok very annoying, but those who never had a fair chance to park their boat somehwere lost alot of progress once again. Now besides their shitty communication skills and their non-existant clock reading skills the only one who replies to certain tweets is Jatheish, the pain in the ass there is that he only replies to either positive comments or comments that have no informational value what so ever. Like last night he replied to a guy asking how often he must have said a certain word this year already whlist the majority of replies on his tweets are about the cheaters, the bugs, the game not being fun in general, those replies are being straight out ignored just as most of the topics are being ignored here on this forum by any official person. They implemented moderators and community admins, god knows why because the ones who should be more active on this forum are the devs, they should learn how to use their eyes and brain at the same time and read the massive reports of players that are begging for fixes in areas they have ignored since launch. Yet they bring out and even brag about their new features while the core mechanics of this game are still broken, people are still playing on 250 ping servers whilst having to deal with all the buggy shit that comes with predators, land claims, ship building, alphas, cheaters, hackers, and now we have rollbacks and constant patches that break stuff just a simple like doors no longer opening, if someone would just run the software they managed to compile before they release it as an update they can prevent so many gamebreaking issues with each patch they release but nope, we are the guinneepigs, we are the rats in the wheels and why? Like most paid forumtrolls state here it's an Early Access game you should have known what u signed up for... It's early access I get it, but doesn't that mean that what it describes in the EA stuff is that they are taking notes from customer feedback and listening to their playerbase on how to improve things? I've seen their Twitch live Q+A stream and I can tell you, there was no real Q+A part, it was just them talking about things they gonna implement while the playerbase is crying on the twitch chat to be aknowledged and to point out that devs are just ignoring the whole Black Butterfly incident by not even mentioning it once in their nearly 2 hour talk. To be honest the best description of that stream I read on this forum somewhere was someone saying those 4 guys at the mental hospital got some time off together and placed in a room with a webcam, this made my day just that little bit better because let's be honest, this weekend was horrible for those who actually took the time to play the game. Rollbacks, Fountain of Youth and Rollbacks. This fountain of youth thing is so poorly designed and shows how badly these developers are connected with their playerbase, we had freeport at launch that was overpopulated and with that mechanic they were lucky enough that there were plenty of freeports (and lawless areas) where people could eventually spawn, it wasn't enough for launch but it was somewhat managable. Right now u have to have the entire population of one server (NA PVE fe) to rush to one single grid where that fountain of youth is at, one grid that can hold 150 players maximum (in theory but in practice u get a ping of 250). So let's say about 5-10k players who have started near launch are now all over age 90 and have a debuff for being that old implemented on them whilst they dont' have the alternative at hand to make babies in game they are all forced at the same time with a serious debuff to find that fountain of youth before their character dies permanently losing all the progress and gear and landclaims and boats (if u play solo or have really small company where u all die before reaching it). So yeah, if one of those devs would ever have played on an official server and had to deal with all the previous bullshit before even thinking about going to a fountain of youth together will the rest of the playerbase at the same time they would have never implemented such a feature without having alternatives for breeding or even releasing something that makes us all get a random younger age. Cuz this issue will repeat itself in a couple of weeks when EVERYONE who's now 20 again will be at the age of 90 again, and yea you have to be 90+ to get a nice buff each time you go back after the age of 90+ you get a buff over your buff. So tell me, am I exaggerating anything here? People who played this game for a few weeks now know very well that the way Grapeshot throws out updates is like a blind man playing darts, throw as hard and as fast as you can and see if one hits the bullseye, more misses than hits in this field. There are some obvious forum trolls here of which I hope they aren't being paid by Grapeshot to keep the negativity down by having so many people countering it with rediculous answers as: git gud, or learn to play, or game isn't made for soloing. I get it it's an MMO, but people all have to start out solo and the game mechanic only let's u stay on newbie island (freeport) until lvl 8 which is so low your chances of survival outside freeport are really small when u play alone and start to find land to claim to build a ship in case u want to start your own company and not become another companies slave to go pick cotton or other resources all day long whilst the guys who run the big companies get to play command & conquer while u play minecraft/lumberjack simulater. They already stole our money after their terrible launch and steam still refuses to do refunds even when u try to explain all the issues ot them in a lenghty conversation like this one, u still get standard replies and support staff doesn't read your sentences the way you have written them. When I write: my first 20 hours of "gametime" were me sitting in main menu trying to login to a server. They read: you played 20 hours and thus Steam will not refund you after this much gametime. Now we all knew steam support can also be a pain in the ass sometimes, now we have to deal with Atlas dev team and Steam Support simultaniously. For those who gonna be trolls and say why u still play when u wanted refund and can only complain about it? Because I got robbed of my 25$ while Steam refuses to refund the damn thing due to timer things I felt obligated to play and see if I can still get fun out of it after each update and patch, as most of you trolls claim it's EA and (might/will) get better. Well it doesn't, they break the experience for most of us with each update they roll out or roll back. I would also like to ask my fellow pirates who have had enough of this idiotic way things are going to just spam Jat and Atlas tweets as soon as they pop up with youtube videos of griefers, cheaters, bugs, glitches, anything that shows what a poor product this is to make sure they aren't fooling other people into buying this game until it might actually be playable. Please don't hesitate to even copy past my entire post here to spread the message on reddit, other forums or just in here in case mods think this should be deleted, as I have read from several users on this forum that posts about their incompetence get deleted sometimes. Good luck to all of those who are still trying to play the game after all these things that happened, but for me it was over a few days ago, I'm done grinding to establish a little base and some boats on my own, I know it's not of solo players, but if u started this game with 5 friends and end up alone after a few days into the game u don't feel like joining a big company just yet, u try to build up a base and boat to show your friends and hope they want to play on from that part since they could skip the grindy part, but nope, it's so bad that they refuse to play it any longer and me myself have jumped ship and joined their boat, not playing boat. I will keep being a pest to this company until A: this game is a proper playable game (don't count on it). B: they refund this game to me (depending on steam here). As long as I feel like being ripped off, I'll be ripping on these nitwits as well. This is what I picture how the game Atlas itself feels like if it were alive:

at least this isn't league of legends Honestly guys...this is early access...just give them time. Remember launch? they did improve a lot. Stop complaining like little kids and just wait.

People crying about losing 3 hours of stuff when most of the network was probably in bed by that point anyway, you lost 3 hours of whatever work in exchange for 3 extra days of double rates, poor devs. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

honestly anyone wasting so much time sailing to get to the fountain is doing it wrong, go to closest freeport make a ramshackle sloop and 90% of the golden age are 2-4 zones away from a freeport. takes about 10 minutes to make a sloop and at most 1 hour of sailing

I have been on a few official servers where profanity was auto censored, but this forum is as bad as steam. Why do posters feel the need to f every word or post. Please tighten up and have a swear filter. I sometime have my grandchildren here, I cannot dare read these forums due to so much foul Language. I understand they have issues, but please keep the kiddies in check. I am 62 , and in my day, everyone had respect, the devs are doing there job, if you worked in a shop or cafe, would you serve someone swearing at you, no. Stop behaving like spoilt brats.

Thanks Devs, you fucking assholes! Sure am glad all the effort a lot of us went through yesterday to get the Fountain of Youth was all for not because you morons can't keep your accounts secure. THANKS FOR THAT! Someone needs to smack you idiots upside the back of the head and maybe that will knock some sense into you so you'll actually LISTEN TO YOUR PLAYERS and stop doing stupid crap like this! I'm out, FUCK YOU, I'm done with this game as are a lot of people because you cock suckers just don't give a fuck about your players. FUCK YOU.

NA-PVE perspective. I have been loathe to use words of questionable morality on these forums because I'm trying to be understanding with this dev team and not sound like a ranting child. But, I feel I must digress for a moment. This was the biggest fucking pile of trash I have EVER seen on any mmo. First you give damn near the entire population of the server a STUPID debuff. Then, you force them to either live with this debuff or jam their asses onto 1 island when you know damn well your servers can barely handle 20 people on 1 island. THEN, you obviously think that this is supposed to suffice for content. Well let me tell you how your content went. First, after everyone dodged the stupidly insane number of SotD, they first ran in there thinking they were gonna kick ass and take names. But that can't happen on this game because the combat system is so utterly screwed up that players are easily decimated by a level 1 no matter what level the player is. But no, that's obviously irrelevant. YOU have to surround this shit hole with lvl 100 aggros. And those are just the ones OUTSIDE this cave. You also decide to flood this 'fountain' (which was just a stupid ass blue sparking particle effect) with mobs of insanely high levels so that, in the future, should any solo need to rid themselves of this ignorant debuff, you've guaranteed them it will be impossible. The content part? Oh, right... No, it wasn't all of us there with pistols and cannons and swords beating off the nasty mobs like your trailer implies. It was all of us running in naked so we didn't lose shit because we KNEW we were going to die multiple times, just hoping the mobs would be confused enough by the utter swarm of lemmings that they would ignore us. Who the fuck on that dev team comes up with these brilliant plans? Oh wait, I know... it was those of you on the stream who thot it HILARIOUS that you had cranked up a high level mob to the point that it utterly slaughtered the players. Got it. Now I know who to point the finger at.

Devs, i am over 90 years old but really dont have time to sail the seven seas in search of that fountain. By the way : Can a naked debuffed solo bowman on a ramshackle sloop obtain that fountain of youth ? As mentioned, i am still working on my first metal pike and fight a partisan war against chinese hordes on my island. Wolves and Cobras are challenge enough for me, i have no time for your fountain !

Disclaimer - This is in the PVE board for a reason. However, many of the concepts would survive in PVP as well. However, the NEED for them is more present on PVE So I've been giving it some thought to the complaints about the claim system, and as usual it doesn't just boil down to simple player greed, and frankly the solution isn't as simple as just limiting players to a number of claims. Most of the solutions proposed so far still rely on the basic assumption that players should NEED to have a significant permanent land presence, and that really doesn't translate well to a player versus environment context. Territory, and territory control, are pretty inherently PVP concepts. If land is owned by a player, then even on PVE, the architecture of taking land from another player is a PVP oriented action (in order for player a to gain, player b MUST lose something), and adding perfect protection doesn't really make that suddenly work (which is the current system, you really only gain land when another player exits the game or abandons it). The solutions aren't to just limit out the ability for people to control territory, although there probably is some reasonable limit that should probably go in. However, no matter what the limit, what we really need is more environment. I'd like to propose the following as additions that wouldn't upset the game greatly, but should drastically reduce the over-focus on the Claim system. The claim system (and lawless zones as they are now, but not how Grapeshot wants them) are so focusd on because they are everything. If there was alternative, non-land control environment, then players wouldn't feel the NEED to have claimed land, wouldn't need to horde it even if they aren't using it, and would be able to play the game without opting into that system. Basically, turn being a landowner into a thing you do because you want to, not because you have to. P.S. As far as weight sinking that was recently rampant, it's important to remember that much of it wasn't true Griefing. Griefing requires the act to be motivated with the goal of causing frustration or irritation to the victim, and while there were plenty of people doing it just to annoy anothers (the ones who were streaming about it etc.) a large swath of the companies that were strip mining ships were doing it for the goal of gathering resources. This is another sign that there was no non-PVP way for them to use some game mechanisms (see below and you'll know more about what I'm thinking). 1) Ships of the Damned should give more loot of a mundane and non-exclusive nature Right now, SOTD give NPC crew and ship recipes, and some coins. That's great, but they really need to give mundane resources. Some amount of Wood, Thatch, Fiber, and Metal, and maybe an exotic material (oil/sap) per kill would provide an alternative source of resources, and motivate stronger players to keep the waters safer for weaker players / players not as far along progression. Let people play hunters of the mystical. 2) There should be NPC ships other than ships of the damned for us to fight Just as with the SOTD, there should be merchant and trade vessels for us to fight and ultimately sink. It's another resource in, and provides a purpose to the salvaging tree. In fact, in PVE, the ultimate pirate ability could be retooled from allowing claiming of ships (NOT a PVE concept...) to increasing the merchant loot from Merchant ships. Let people play pirates. 3) There should be spawned shipwrecks Right now, the salvage skills are only really useful for people who intend to sink ships through griefing. I'm willing to say that 99% of the ships that sank on PVE were through exploits rather than legit mechanisms. This was often done to salve the ships. Salvaging should be a viable play style in a game like this, but the system needs to spawn things in. Let people play salvagers. 4) There should be less requirement to have a land base - it should be an option I'm going to break this one down into 4 sub-parts, but right now there are three main reasons to build a base that are REQUIRED for progression. This doesn't include "I build a base because I want to" which I'm all for, but I'm trying to highlight why right now, the "want to build a base" players are rubbing up against people only doing it to support the rest of their play. Also, much of the foundation spam is from people reserving land "in case" they need it (ok, and to be arseholes but at least some of them are doing it non maliciously and we should give them an option). 4a) allow purchase of farmed items at reasonable rates/ re-enable farming on boats Farming is disabled on ships. Either re-enable it, or let us get farmed items from NPC's at reasonable rates. As it stands right now, I see a lot of farms in lawless. Farmed goods are required to get good tames and good food for the vitamin system. This forces people to build land bases to farm to progress Now yes, You CAN farm on a boat through rain, but it's risky. Letting us put pipes on ships would let us have the buffer of a reservoir. 4b) allow kenneling of tames One of the major reasons to build a base is that you need a place to store your tames. In a PVE context, tames inside my base should be "invincible" because there's not supposed to be a non-exploit way to hurt them. So why even bother with the base at all? Why not have NPC kennels throughout the land where we can store our tames when we aren't using them. Added bonus, we don't consume server resources with bases and parked tames. 4c) allow use of rented shipyards Right now, you HAVE to have a land base for is to build your ship. It's a huge problem and the shipyard spam around islands is totally real. Instead, why not add a system where I can rent a shipyard for 2 hours? I'd build the materials ahead of time, lay down the skeleton, plop on the panels, and set sail. Right now, people plug up space for FOUR DAYS to build their ships. If lawless really is supposed to be more about people getting ready and moving on, put the NPC shipyards there. Have each island have 6 shipyards that people can rent for short bursts to build their ships, and get out. 4d) add NPC storage The final reason you have to build a base is that storage on ships is limited, and vulnerable. Again, just like with kenneling tames, ON A PVE SERVER my resources in my base should be safe, and the only way for players to get them are exploits, so again, why not just take the base out of the equation? Let us deposit resources into an NPC bank, and while near the NPC bank, we get a "loading crane" buff that gives us crazy carry weight (5000 or so) to move stuff to or from our ship storage easily.

I was thinking the same thing. The beatings will continue until you are all having a good time. It's just a seriously stupid thing. Seriously. It's not tied to any greater game mechanic, because there ARE no greater game mechanics. Everything is about as deep as a mud puddle. For pvp, the idea is Capture the Flag + a bit of survival, which will grow old really quickly. For pve, it's....well, I'm not sure what it is. Survival without enough land, and even once you get land, what then? Build a few small things to clutter up a coastline, go sailing, fight ghost ships and collect "treasure". Then what? This age mechanic doesn't help you do any of those meager goals any better. It's just a doodad stuck on the game with a piece of chewing gum. The devs need to learn it's not about how hard you make the game, it's about how interesting you make the game. Throwing alphas and ghost ships and age debuffs at everyone doesn't give them a challenge, because you've given them nothing to attain. Figure out some interesting way for someone to be a mayor, a spy, a famous master shipbuilder, the head of the warfare council on the pvp servers...then make those goals hard to achieve, and you've got something. Let an entire server's worth of companies plan and work together to defeat something and build something, after which everyone on the server gets a boon, or a 2x or a benefit of some kind. Quit taking the players hostage and give them the adventures you promised them. For more doodads stuck on the game with a piece of chewing gum, see the latest patch notes - guillotines, submarines, cosmetics and armor skins, and a new dungeon for megas. That'll keep everyone busy for a week or two. The new bounty system might add a little more real gameplay to the game, but it's only on pvp. What it needs is some sort of ruling body to set the bounty and pay it out..some structure, and some reason for some of the companies to want to work together and drop the Lord of the Flies schtick. That might create some new power struggles that are something other than whacking somebody in the head with a fire arrow.

Just came back from trading. One of the places I've gone to in the past was a nicely run 'inn' with open crafting tables and gobs of fiber to farm. Today, all the doors were locked shut and a large portion of the resources were already gone. There was also a notice on the gent's claim flag not to anchor ships anywhere on the island otherwise you'd risk them being sunk by asians. After talking to this normally friendly and hospitable gent he informed me that he had to lock down and close his facilities after these, as he denoted Chinese, moved into the island and proceeded to drag SotD to the shore in order to destroy player ships and structures. He said his tax building had been destroyed twice by this tactic. Keep in mind, this is a pve server. I did stop to farm some fiber and on one of the claims he previously owned was a new building with those infamous square blocks for the claimant's name. Thus far, I've had no interaction with any Asians on the server. I have watched their streams on occasion but other than that I personally have nothing against them. However, when their perceived actions results in someone I trade with turning from hospitality to hostility as a means of survival then I'm inclined to take sides. Whatever nationality they are, if they are exploiting the game's systems in order to grief, harass, provoke or otherwise make the game unplayable and unenjoyable for others then boot their asses out. Furthermore, it should not take the public broadcasting of Atlas by a streamer in order for you dev's to take action. You have your bug reports, you have the complaints on these forums, you have the complaints on Twitter, Discord and Reddit. Do your investigating in a timely manner, fix the exploits they use and then kick their asses back across the Pacific. That or give them their own server and leave the exploits in place so they can beat each other over the head since it is apparent they refuse to act like civilized humans.

Here is the biggest problem. The devs do not know their own game and they are in constant denial about player concerns. The devs also are in love with the idea that they want to be this BIG GAME developers like Blizzard and the problem is they are not and never will be. So they push BIG COMPANY in atlas every step of the way even though not one single server can handle two big companies battles let alone just a 500 player company meeting. Prof of this was last night at the fountain of youth less there 70 people in one spot lag the game down so bad it was laughable. You want us to buy into that their is going to be massive sea battles rofl with what 15 maybe 20 people at best because thats all the servers can handle. YOUR GAME IS SURVIVAL!!! NOT TEAM BATTLE MEDAL OF HONOR!!!

Just arrived at C6 and it is gone, it is amazing how incompetent those ...... Devs are. O14, C6, both nowhere near to 50h, I am 96 years now and a solo player, if I die of age and lose all my stuff you will never see me at any of your games again SW (ARK + all expansions and ATLAS so far)... Holy shit am I pissed, so much incompetence at one spot unbelievable Edit: and yes I do understand EA, but implementing and forcing stuff on people which is broken is the way how you get rid of your players and not how you get feedback to improve your game....

this mechanism is madness... in this environment can be a "fountain of youth" but just like a buff you can get once in a while !!! aging on such a structured game is pure madness, having to move endless servers with the probability of dying and losing the ship on long trips... I do not think this game has been proposed as hardcore survival... I can also tolerate vitamins and climate change, but that makes it really frustrating. I advise you to rethink this choice too extreme because in this way you have killed the game for those people who play in small companies and can not be online 24h.

This update just confirms the developers don't play their own game and don't know shit about it or what the players want. They've just gimped most of their player base while forcing them all to sail to some random, distant island that is full of hyper aggressive enemies who can and will 1 shot you. If the developers want to kill the game, they're doing a good job.

Hello! I think my program is finally ready for public consumption. Thank you for waiting! Its still not even close to perfect and probably has a few bugs. Let's just call it an alpha release for now. Original video: Autoswitching feature: As a refresher this is the program that will dynamically help you open and close servers on the fly so you can play privately on the full official map, with just average hardware. If you can run at least 1 server, this will work, allowing people to even run it on the same computer they are playing on. Main bullet point features: * easily update the ports and ip address across all 225 grids on your map. No more needing to tediously update everything individually on the ServerGridEdior. * Automatically generate all 225 .bat files to start each of the servers * Open and close the server you are on plus the 4 surrounding you (automatically even), any 4 individual servers on the map, or a combination of the two, control up to 9 servers at a time. If your computer can handle more than 1 server, even better! If it can handle 5 grids the program will even track your location and dynamically open all the grids around you so you won't even have to look at the program while playing! A bunch has been added since I lasted showed off the program. Now I include steamcmd and a one click sever setup button as well as an update server function. I also added a redis server on and off switch, so it really now is a one stop shop for nearly everything. It even saves all your settings/locations on close so you don't have to remember anything. The only extra thing you'll need is the servergrideditor from grapeshot. I also wrote out an insanely indepth instruction list, included in the download to hopefully walk anyone, no matter what comfort level, through setting everything up. My apologies, apparently Windows doesn't like the website I setup to download and is blocking everything, so I have to use something stupid like dropbox... Link will also be in the discord server if this stops working. v1.5.4 changelog: Fix for Autosaving on exit not functioning properly. I won't say this is 100% working, but it's the most I will be able to do on my side given the program doesn't actually touch the servers, it's still all dependent on Atlas' autosaving on exit code firing off properly, which can be hit or miss, but in my preliminary tests, I was 5 for 5 on not having a slight rollback on exit and reload of entire server like it was happening before. Rollback may still happen on server updates because it seems for some reason the server is programmed to automatically do that? Fix for slight desync on individual grids, this goes hand in hand on the autosaving not functioning at 100% when switching servers, which may have caused desync, which in turn causes problems reconnecting, problems with the map not updating ship locations, problems with characters not loading. Fix for grids not shutting down on switch or on exit because another square has the server loaded up even though it was not turned on. NEWEST VERSION: http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/jp37x0kras14x8j/ASCv1.5.4.zip OLD VERSION: http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/lbei9x5t99gaggl/ASCv1.5.zip If you run into any issues/need help on the setup, feel free to join the discord here: www.discord.gg/YHGWPyd Discord is also where future updates will be posted until I can figure out why Windows hates my website. ****If you are trying to add this to an existing server, please backup everything before you do... I doubt there will be issues, but you need to be safe, and I haven't actually testing doing that.

    1. Ship-Rear Cosmetics/Skins So we have figureheads, steering wheel skins and soon, sail skins. This might be a large suggestion, but the Brig and Galleons have cosmetic "cabin" styling on the backs of them. I propose new skins be made for the Ship itself that adds cosmetic changes to the back of ships. Maybe dragon heads from the back, working up the side? A skull? Hydra head? Cyclops hands? 2. PvE Servers, Allow Ship Claiming After Inactivity Currently, there is no ship claiming on the PvE servers. I feel like ships should be claimable if the player and/or company has not been online or entered the area within maybe 2 weeks? 1 week? Or simply cause the ship to be "Unclaimed" after 1 or 2 weeks of inactivity. 3. Repair All Structures It would be a tremendous Q.O.L. improvement to allow NPC crew to repair all structures including ceilings, cannons, walls, chairs, e.t.c. when the ship is anchored and the NPCs are unseated. Optionally, create a new structure to be placed on a ship in which you assign an npc crewmate to be in charge of repairing all other misc. structures on the ship. 4. Unseat All Crew I don't know about other players, but when I get off my ship, I unseat at least 4 crew members to ensure my ship's essentials are repaired before the next time I set off. This would be another amazing Q.O.L. improvement for the ship to have an implemented option to unseat all crew. 5. Man Your Stations Add an option to NPC crew on ships that assigns them a specific position on-board. Then add an additional option on-board the ship for assigned crew to "Man Stations." 6. Handling Sail; Reverse Allow Handling Sails to provide faster Reverse speeds. As it stands, ships can currently back up no matter what. If the Ship layout includes a Handling Sail, this ship should reverse slightly faster. 7. Captain's Deck Currently, the Galleon is the only ship that comes with a snap-able slot for a receded Deck to be placed higher up at the back of the ship. I propose another optional Deck slot be added to the back end of Brigantines and Schooners, like the Galleons, for cleaner and more aesthetically pleasing ship designs. (The Brigantine is especially difficult to make the ceilings and walls line up with the back end of the ship.) 8. Careening @mKHammerBro Introduce a new mechanic to ground Ships to scrape and clean the underside of the hull. In the past, this process was called Careening, or Heaving Down. Barnacles and other sea life clings to the underside and rots away at the wood. This could also introduce a new way to repair your ship's planks or add a temporary repair and/or speed buff to your ship. 9. Mooring @ikarirain Introduce a new item to be crafted at Smithy's from the Seamanship tree, Bollard. There are instances where a ship is too large to reach an anchor-able point, so it's been proposed to allow ships the ability to be moored in by ropes to Bollards, which can be placed on piers or shipyards, to safely "anchor" the ship in your territory, given anchoring isn't possible. Additionally, increase the amount of Bollards needed to moor a ship depending on the ship's size and/or weight. 10. Select All or Individual Sail Controls @Shakarian Ability to control all sails from the wheel, or select which individual sails to give certain commands to. For instance, all sails selected by default. But press keys similar to the cannon crews to deselect certain sails. 11. Look-Out / Telescope @Aristocrates It is known that being at the top of a mast gives the player a slightly larger render-distance so they can see ships and such ahead of time, but it would be nicer if there was a Telescope sort of attachment to build on the Smithy that could be attached to the top of the mast, further improving this render distance for preparation or avoidance purposes. 12. Collidable Figureheads @Grodgen Collidable Figureheads: Currently they have no collision. You can't stand on them and it also limits their functionality as actual figureheads. 13. Rotatable Weight & Handling Sails @Kaitlynn Allen Add an option to rotate Weight Sails and Handling Sails 180 degrees when placed, depending on your desired placement at the front or back of the ship. 14. Rigging That Connects The Front Sail To The Figurehead @Kaitlynn Allen Add an option to connect sails via rigging placed at the front of the to the bow sprite/figurehead. 15. Catch Net @RebelMarmoset Add a structure for the front or sides of ships that catches flotsam and/or fish. Consequently, the longer the net is lowered, or the more items it catches, the more it slows the ship down. If you like any of these options, please reply to this thread with your comments and feel free to suggest some more ideas pertaining to ships! And a special thank you to @Jatheish for taking the time to read this! Loving the game.

Last night, got ganged after spawning into a new zone, Im just in a sloop. Managed to turn around and go back through the zone, followed me. Sank. Now today, just sailing over one island with a zone in between, 20 minutes sail, SOTD all over the place. And not only that, it seemed like each time I adjusted my direction to get the wind a new one would spawn ahead. Not to mention they are closer to land again. They "tune" them? Because this stinks.

Atlas has so much potential. All of which is wasted because the Game Devs only want a gigantic Troll-Griefer shitshow and they're going out of their way to discourage any other kind of game play.

New ideas in these games are good... just not this one. Aging in a MMO/survival game is ridiculous. Z

I like the idea of it, but currently the game is not set up for small groups to combat the golden age islands. For now, keep the buff in, but for everyone else, just don't give us the debuff. It's an incomplete system, no point to put the penalty in yet.

Please reconsider destroying/removing the ability to place crop plots on player boats. If anything, please consider adding the ability to use the irrigation system on boats to enhance boat farming. A lot of the fun in a sandbox game like this comes from making your own fun. I've made my fun by making detailed house boats with gardens and farms on them that allow me to be a traveling merchant/trader that can pick fresh ingredients to cook so I don't have to kill myself or my friends every 30-45 minutes to reset vitamins/food, and allows me to trade fresh ingredients to and cook for other players that may not otherwise have them. I don't think for a moment that the community staff who may read this are responsible for this change, but as community leaders you have the power to listen to player feedback and pass that information to the development team for consideration. I know I'm not the only person that's made a farming vessel (I've seen at least one other advertisement for another traveling merchant besides myself). A change like this causes a reduction in player agency and freedom by limiting one of the ways that traveling merchant PCs are able to do business and sustain themselves, and undermines the independence of our vessels, by forcing us to land-lock (and potentially travel across the world) to restock on food, which removes the 'traveling' aspect by severely limiting the range at which we can operate independently. This change reinforces the currently-optimal seafaring play-style of 'kill yourself to reset food/vitamins' rather than eating when sailing, which I feel is antithetical to the sort of game-play experience that should be encouraged. I feel that it would be far more healthy to the game to make design decisions that encourage eating rather than committing suicide. This change limits one of the creative, social ways that we can play the game (my farming vessel has sparked curiosity and dialogue with various other players while I've had it, and spawned several friendships as a result of those conversations), and I feel that what it brings to the table as a game change is a net negative due to its impact on limiting player expression and play style, and wanted to make my feedback known, as it effectively removes the creative, social niche that I and other players have made for ourselves in this game. If the developers feel as if crop plots absolutely must not be on ships, then I feel that perhaps there are other compromises that could be made. It was stated on the dev stream yesterday that player agency and the ability to creatively express oneself in designing a ship is a priority for your company. From those statements, it strikes me as strange that the next day a patch to remove player expression through ship design is immediately implemented in that claim's wake. Perhaps a better alternative would be to add dedicated trading / farming / merchant ship designs? (I know I would be amazingly hyped for a dedicated traveling merchant/fishing/farming vessel that can be self-sustaining and used as a mobile player base/shop to sell/trade with other players.) The addition of ships, designs, and frames was briefly covered during the dev stream. If crop plots absolutely must be removed from ships, could you perhaps consider adding a dedicated trading/farming/merchant vessel which can be used for farming/trading/running player shops out of? I feel that simply removing crop plots from vessels is a poor game play design decision for the reasons stated above, and I feel that encouraging creative player experiences outside of 20-large-cannon-kiting-battle-schooners would be an extremely healthy design decision for this game. On the contrary, I feel that supporting player mercantilism and boat-based-farming would enrich the game creatively, socially, and economically through the stimulation of dynamic game-play experiences and encouraging player interaction and economy through bartering & gold. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Still nothing to do with what was being discussed though. Most games force people to do certain things, nothing new here. The issue here is that it was not introduced at the start. It's just like when things get taken away and nerfed people get upset about it because it got taken away, where as if things were like it from the start people wouldn't have anything to complain about because they wouldn't know anything better as it didn't exist. The implementation of this debuff was handled poorly yes, it should have been introduced after fountain of youth and human breeding, not at the same time when everyone is already at 90+. But the news of this perma death, debuff, fountain of youth and human breeding is nothing new, it was known before Atlas even released so it should have been expected. Just unfortunate the implemenation wasn't better. Just so you are aware, I am playing solo on Official PvE and am already 94 years old, so i'm affected just as much as everyone else that won't be able to reach fountain of youth.

    > Server is full Well i can't connect now. Guess i'll have to wait till people leave the area. So much for 2x gathering. Thanks grapeshot, you've managed to implement a mechanics with EVERYTHING fucking wrong with it - you've added it when almost all of us are over 90 and you FORCE us to go for the stupid fountain with the idiotic debuff - you've implemented a stacking permanent buff while the game is still in EA and will stay there for at least two years and you plan for no wipes. Good luck to anyone who joins after the game is released. - you've placed fountains on golden ruins islands where there's no other way to get to them other than stupid corpse runs It's good that you've fixed elephants and they're useful again. Now fix (as in, remove) this piece of crap.

its a PVP and Survial game if you "ONLY" want to use it as a builder there is nothing stopping you from creating a private server i find your complaints worthless and your judgement lacking

I can't even fathom the fact that they : first -impose such broken content to everyone, 2 -they probably think this broken content is perfectly fine since it's now an implemented feature, i mean wtf? 3 - didn't even try to fix or even adjust the spawn/ amount of mobs and their difficulty to make this possible without completely cheesing it. It's clearly impossible to make those runs legit, you absolutely need to make a zerg naked run to get through it, there is no way around this. And as the guy mentioned in the video if the game wasn't a lag fest the mobs would shred you in no time... I sure have seen an enormous amount of broken games in my life where this kind of non worked end game was a thing around launch, but at least all those games saw that as broken, but gating character progression through this and making it a feature, it's is really the next level of bull shit.

^This joker probably went there with a 20 man group.. What a chicken. Dude, nobody cares if you company carried you to the fountain, solo players need access to it too. And plus, i'd rather laugh at you, because you can't think of anything good the age mechanic brings to the game. Climb out of the devs ass, try it on solo, and then come back here and tell me this isn't the biggest pile you've ever seen.
  43. 3 points
Man half of you who are complaining dont even play the game anymore and you are still bitching. Go on to the next new game and complain about how bad you are at that game so they can laugh at you there too.

Age system does not have a place in this kind of game. This game is not about realism clearly otherwise we'd have to watch our character sleep for many hours, take craps, jerk off, go crazy from lack of social interactions, and all other real-world nuances we take for granted in a video game but that is just the case, we play video games to get away from real life. We don't need this punishing and monotonous aspect of the game and already we have to endure the annoying vitamin deficiency crap.

id rather buy elixirs of youth for 100 gold than spend every few days trying to find a fountain, I solo on most days and when im lucky my daughter plays too. We are both pushing 90 and nowhere near ready for an undertaking of a quest through those kinda waters.
