what is the use of picking up taming when i don't have the skill to fling a bola at my target due to the lack of skill points.

pirates most likely work in a team, a crew, but it's not that they only are able of a single skill.

if you want to cook for your crew you're stuck in the pantry while your crew explores the island ?

cut me some slack here but the skill system as it was was a little steep already with not unlocking the basic skill in a branch once you unlocked the branch in basics.

now it's utter nonsense.

That's the funny part for me. Under the pre-nerfed skill system(before 7.0), I felt like I was making difficult decisions on where to put my points. Like I had to make trade offs, if I do this, then I accept that maybe not that. Now...now it feels like I am not getting anything for my trade. To spec a tree, you left with no wiggle room.

 

To give you an idea, my character is bugged out. He was not forced to respec. At level 43, he shows -270 skill points (because he still has all the skills from before 7.0). Think about that. I felt like I was having to make trade offs with that build, that I had to limit myself from certain combat options (not EVEN talking about even touching any crafting skills, PURELY combaty builds) and that puts me at -270 skill points...so if I started a new character, to get to that trade off state where I felt I was limiting myself into a few narrow combat roles,  I would not be able to, because there would be a 270 skill point deficit to get me back to that place where I agonized over what skills to choose......

Care to expand upon this? Are you saying Blue Prints allow you to craft without having corresponding crafting skill? IE, you can find a Cutlass Blue Print, 'learn it' with no Skill Point cost, and then be able to craft it, all without investing in any crafting skill related to metallurgy and making weapons?

The new skill points are ridiculous.  I am going down ship construction, which means I pretty much have no points left to put into basic survival.  Did someone just pull the new numbers out of the air and say "looks good to me, send it out".  I would much rather they fix game breaking issues and leave the stuff that isn't broke alone.

why would they ?

they got admin rights and the console. 'gimme this and that skill and since it's so nice and easy i'll take a bit of the one over there as well'.

 

when ppl can't cook they often end up doing a gumbo at least that's what i do when i don't want spaghetti or micro-waved mashed potatoes.

i'm pretty sure WC/GS/Snail did the same. taking the worst of 2 worlds, aka ARK and D&L, throw in some bucanneers and freebooters and mix it with Tarot

to perfection = ATLAS

oh wait, it tastes a bit weird so we tweak the skill system to get most of the t[a/e]sters a salty taste.

if you ever tried D&L you know what i'm talking about.

ever since they started working on that ARK more and more fell off the table when it came to bug fixing.

D&L is far from being finished and already we got Atlas.

You find a blueprint and can craft the item - once - at double the cost if you do not know how to craft it already - but it's higher quality.

 

It's not a fix as you need a steady supply to replace lost gear.

Please do something about the skills being too expensive, especially for solo players! You gave us npc crews, but took our skills away.

As far as I understand, you would only need tool quality to craft those items, and they would have a limited amount of crafts before you would need a new blue print. I can test this but I have been investing my points in piracy for some interesting testing. I'll take a look tonight.

cant wait for the first wipe. they will know how to handle the servers better and everyone that got effed in the begging will have a fighting chance again.
